Ok, pretend feminism never happened (this is off to a great start already haha) and your parents had to provide a dowry for you to marry. How many chickens/sheep do you believe you would be worth? Either one, the other, or a mix of chickens and sheep. Logistical question: which date do you reveal your going rate to a prospective suitor?
As a humble southron boy I believe myself to be worth my weight in valencia oranges. My family may not be able to provide much in terms of financial support, but we have ascorbic acid out the wazoo.
We negotiate prices up front, first date, in the parking lot before we even enter the restaurant. If we do not come to an equitable arrangement, we get back in our cars and pretend this whole thing never happened.

I stored all the oranges I could, and then I drove the truck to an elementary school and let the faculty take as much as they wanted. Any that were left over, I took to a shelter for them to use.
