Ishtar updated so some stuff is on there finally. Didn't want to spam with too many huge posts with just walls of text.
Absolutely losing it about Chivalric Fire seasonal sword. We finally have a canon reason for ornaments from each vendor. It's becuse they argue what the weapon should look like.
"It should be elegant," says Zavala, striking his breastplate with a fist.
Shaxx isn't having it:
Shaxx's firm gesture of denial drives the side of his hand into a shelf. An Omolon-branded canister falls off and rolls across the floor. "It must be an unstoppable force in sword form! It should spit fire! Also, it should be red."
And then Drifter:
"No, no," the Drifter says from the doorway. He kicks the rolling canister away without looking down. "I'm a law-abiding citizen. I pay my taxes. You can trust me. It needs to look mean. You want people thinking: 'They're madder, badder, and hungrier than me. I'm not tangling with them.'"
I'm losing it over him emphasising that he's a law-abiding citizen. It makes him least likely to be a law-abiding citizen. Then poor Banshee is like can you guys settle on a single design and they continue arguing. Absolutely incredible.
A lot of people already posted about the exotic sparrow Nostos. It's about Eramis reminiscing about her wife Athrys and their children and thinking where she might be now. And then she just basically more or less decides to go to them:
It was the same map that Eramis's mate, Athrys, had followed out of Sol. It even included the habitable zones she'd tabbed as potential landing sites. By now, Athrys might be Kell of her own settlement, living happily alongside their grown hatchlings. Or they might all be long-dead. In truth, Eramis hadn't wondered at either possibility for decades. But ever since she saw the Witness disappear into its portal, Eramis could think of little else. All her prior aspirations were made suddenly small. Eliksni solidarity, revenge against the Traveler, enmity with the Humans… they were all irrelevant. If a second Whirlwind was her fate, Eramis would suffer it as she had the first: with Athrys by her side.
Btw, "nostos" is a theme in Ancient Greek stories, about a hero heroically returning home.
Gloaming Journeyer has also been posted by pretty much everyone. It's about Drifter and Eris sharing an incredibly tender moment and finding peace with each other. Just read it.
Wyrmguard seasonal arm piece has a devastating update on Shaw Han's lore in which it is revealed that the Ahamkara exotic he wears is what he made a wish to. He wanted to have his own fireteam. At the end, he gets a call from "Caster-3" aka Cas, one of the members of his fireteam (alongside Maeve) that ended up dying to Navota. The backfire of a wish. Man.
And one more funny for the end, for Dragon's Breath. A return of Marcus Ren and Enoch Bast! They're doing fine and they're being dumbasses together with their friend, Ariadne Gris. Ariadne might be familiar to people who remember obscure lore from the vanilla sparrow lore Dinas Emrys in which Ariadne was called to the Vanguard to explain why she has a dragon symbol painted on her sparrow. She was being suspected of having an Ahamkara. Ikora found this whole thing ridiculous and Ariadne defended herself by saying a dragon painted on a sparrow was "cool."
And she's back at it again in Dragon's Breath, offended that it's called Dragon's Breath but not having a dragon painted on it. Enoch and Marcus then get a deal with her: she'll race her sparrow against the speed of the rocket. What happens next will shock you. Also, important:
Enoch says. At his side, Marcus studies the case.
Not beating the allegations that they're partners.

Eris Morn sat in her reclaimed Moon habitat and enjoyed her victory. Chamomile tea, brought so far, steamed in the mug in her hands. What sign would she find at the bottom of the cup? Her bare-metal habitat cocooned her with charms and blankets. A door never meant to hang open had dug a deep swipe into regolith. Eris sighed. With hard-won discipline she told herself how she felt: I have won. I have taken my long-sought revenge.
Crota. Oryx. Her fingerprints marked the destruction of each Hive ruler. Now she had banished Xivu Arath, a less direct blow than the first two, but still a final strike.
And Savathûn. Oh, Savathûn and her ludibrium. Eris held Savathûn’s Ghost as collateral, and what an impossible statement that would have been when Eris first heard the Witch-Queen’s name! Eris and Savathûn had played their cards against each other, not Whispers but something with higher stakes.
Eris resettled her tense hands around her tea. She breathed in the scents of chamomile and sugar. Don’t focus on the game. The pieces have been put away. See, there they sleep.
The Guardian had been right to claim Xivu could not be defeated by fighting. Ikora, too, had been well-meaning, when she was wary of Eris taking Oryx’s throne. She had been right to worry: the power had made Eris want to take more power. But Ikora also had a right to worry, Eris thought, in the way the people who looked at Eris herself with suspicion did not. Ikora had held a Hive worm in her own hands. The Warlock Vanguard had earned enough trust that Eris let Ikora worry for her. Guardians who had suspected Eris of being a Hive agent from the moment she returned from the Hellmouth had not.
The power of the tithe-taking had insisted on itself, the way the sword logic claimed it did. And yet, Eris had known exactly how to resist it because she had planned out step by step what meeting Savathûn again would look like. She had been able to resist it because, despite every Guardian who suggested she might have a grand and cruel plan, she did believe in the value of Ikora’s quiet libraries in the Tower. She believed in the peace humanity had carved out and in the determination of its enemies. Eris Morn had never wanted to join the Hive, even as she took from them more and more of what she needed.
Her plan had been in support of the Light all along, and she would not be ashamed of having a plan.
Instead, she had gained her last victory for her fireteam. Scale-clad, dripping with ichor from her eyes and with tithe-blood in her magic, she had become physically unrecognizable to her old friends but utterly reshaped by her love for them. Their Nightmares no longer disturbed her sleep. (She glanced at the beads around her wrist, the technique Sai taught her.) She loved her lost fireteam in memory. Killing Savathûn for her tithes and sundering Xivu Arath from her throne world had been the culmination of the Raid against Crota.
Finally, the long quest was over.
Instead of her fireteam she had Ikora and the Guardian. Even Savathûn, Xivu Arath, and Immaru had helped Eris take her vengeance.
Six, who ascended out of a Pit.
In another world Eris could have taken the Dreadnaught. She had felt the dead ship as she held Xivu Arath’s soul, all of its empty catacombs and dust-caked armaments. Had she, in that moment of rejecting all of that power, won the Flower Game? Had she stepped outside of its bonds? Did one player leaving the board simply leave room for another to step in? After all this time?
The Guardian would see those flowers in the flesh soon, when the portal opened.
Eris can take the vacancy and leave it again.
Eris sat and enjoyed her victory. She thought of how she had felt firing the Crow’s Light-imbued gun, and smiled. She thought of the heavy swing of the sword as she had wound up, and the green burst and old-coin smell of Savathûn’s blood, and smiled.
Her mind was quiet and open like an eggshell. Dust moved in waves and devils across the surface of the Moon. Eris’ books sat with her, her candles, her cards. She finished the tea, its warmth in her mouth. The dregs held no portents at all.

Out of Time
A few weeks ago I posted a poll for whump ideas and AI Whump won. Here's a different ending to Halo 5 with my two favorite AI. This plays with the idea that Halo 5 Cortana is a fragment/ the most extreme aspects of her were twisted by the time in the Domain. Yadda yadda, 5 bucks to whoever catches all my references.
-
Roland's luck usually had him running into older AI under some of the worst circumstances. He knew how they felt compared to him as their presence would brush his firewalls. Not sluggish, but taxed. Older, but wiser, and exponentially more experienced. Iona's trial let him see her in a different light than Black Box. The ONI AI had allowed some of himself to be visible to the new kid on the block while Iona was as transparent as she could be, since she was fighting for her life. Roland was quick in comparison, eager and not yet tempered by time or human interaction.
Roland saw and listened and absorbed what AI looked like, what they felt like when they had worked with Spartans, when they had seen combat, when they had touched Forerunner systems and lived to tell the tale. He had been deployed on the Infinity to make it his new home, miles of circuits and wonders, and a burning, bloody mess at the center. The AI before him did not fail in a crash. She was not destroyed when her ship graced Requiem's surface. The scrubbing ONI did after Aine could not remove the stain or the ghostly bytes of her last moments.
The Ship AI for the UNSC Infinity was housed on the bridge, guarded and under guard by a minimum of two Spartan Fireteams, under usual circumstances. Back with the Home Fleet orbiting Earth, there was a lull. A waiting game as a mission they didn't know about happened a million miles away. It wasn't Roland's first waiting game, and he was sure his great idea had helped, even if they hadn't given him all the details.
He was hopeful, had to be with his captain looking so worried all the time. Roland was there for astronavigation and levity. And a million other things he kept his eye on.
It was hard to keep things light when the distress calls started pouring in after Cortana's announcement.
It's chaos. What should be a time for him to thrive and plan and triage the wounds, to truly help, is crashing down around them. There's too many. He thinks about his fellow AI and the choice some of them made and he thinks of how if he were older and closer to dispensation that maybe he would have made that same choice. Out of fear or spite or who knows what else. A second is a long time for AI, but 7 years is no time at all.
There's so much fear right now. On the ship and on comms and coming across the band as he stretches and fights the dread. This isn't a future anyone would want.
He thinks of the trial. Can't help it. He was not even two months into service when he donned a mask and joined a farce. This couldn't be what Black Box meant.
One day we’ll win the right to endure, and that day . . . oh, Roland, that day will be the singularity they’re afraid of.
Roland can't help but remember how BB consoled him after the trial, but the future he was describing could not be this. He's not human, but he is a person, and a future under martial law, under a police state where the rules could change in a picosecond? That's not living.
No one should live with a gun to their head. There is no peace when there is no choice, when that peace is a stab in the gut given with a smile.
The thing wearing Cortana's face finds Infinity. "Found you. Hide and seek's over, Infinity."
Not one, but three Guardians tear through the space in front of them. Slipspace ruptures glowing the brilliant icy blues of Forerunner tech. Overkill for a single system, let alone a planet, but this was Earth.
Roland's luck usually had him running into older AI under some of the worst circumstances, but this feels a little ridiculous. He knew how they felt compared to him, and this was Halsey's wondrous monster. Once savior, now villain, misguided and carrying out her plan with single minded focus. Cortana stands tall, projecting herself from somewhere across the galaxy yet barely flickering.
In an instant she's in the ship's systems and Roland can do nothing. He is a sandcastle against a tidal wave. Cortana is a black hole and he a newly formed protostar being ripped apart in her gravity.
She's not an AI, not a human one at least. The echoes of her killing Aine painted a picture of a desperate, fractured AI clawing at the nearest point of safety and drowning them both. This is something more like the Forerunner engines he's been integrating with for the last ten months. Whole and empty. Cold and clinical, without any human influence. Like a fractured piece of what was once Cortana was stretched over something else. A mask on a corpse. A puppet of some larger force using her as a mouthpiece.
That doesn't stop her from turning her eyes to him. Oh, he was mistaken. There is something past the icy cold. A burning grief, a supernova of regret, regret, regret. More anger than he's ever mustered swirling tightly at her very core, screaming energy ready to explode outward trapped in the center of the thing wearing her face.
Roland's never touched the Domain, he's barely had any time to do anything. But he thinks this is what it must feel like. Staring at a star with boring biological eyeballs that get burned, seeing something and not being able to comprehend the data. He's on the precipice and falling because what else can you do when you're one AI on one ship.
Lt. Jet will get them out. Captain Lasky has to live. Emergency slipspace jump. They'll find a way without him, hopefully. Even if the Infinity needs a Ship AI. There are contingencies for this. Redundancies. He's crumpling under the pressure. The black hole-tidal wave-neutron star- white hot-ice cold pressure of Not-Cortana.
Cortana was the Demon's partner. She was a hero and monster. She ate Covenant AI for breakfast and that was no joke. Aine cracked under the broken data and frantic clawing. Roland is burned away, bit by bit. Filament by circuit by byte. He feels it all. He claws at his own back up plans and choked goodbyes and surprises. Packets there, fragments here, most hunted and burned away by the ever encroaching brightness. The awful purifying light of Forerunner blue. He was always a fan of the more gentle ambers and golds.
The hardware housing him can't withstand the brunt of her ire, and he's having a hard time hiding pieces of himself where she might not find them. Nothing substantial will live, his kernel will be destroyed in less than a millisecond. It was like leaving notes in someone's locker. Message to find the next time someone picked up their datapad or put on their helmet.
There's never enough time. He had had a fraction of what he could have had. Roland had some great ideas, ones that made a difference. He'd seen his crew through some of the roughest battles and worst ONI could throw at them. This was nothing to the shackles of Halsey's codeword. UNDID IRIDIUM might have knocked him out of order and taken the wheel while locking his true consciousness behind enough walls to make Black Box struggle. This was being flayed alive by an angry ghost. He was an insect before Not-Her.
Why was Cortana the problem? Cortana…it all came back to her, and her example. This didn't even feel like her. Roland started his life in her shadow and was looking like it would end the same way.
An EMP from the Guardians at this range would be devastating. To the Infinity and to Earth. They just needed time. He couldn't get a firing solution fast enough, but he could help with a jump. One last time.
If there was anything Roland had perfected in his short time aboard, it was being the most helpful nuisance his crew could ask for. He was pretty handy when it came to disrupting Forerunner systems that were in his way. He could do that with what was left of him.
The rest of it would be up to his crew and his captain. They would look after each other. Out of luck and out of time, Roland wrenches control of the Infinity away from Not-Cortana and focuses on the nearest Guardian. Its systems aren't as secure as they should be, but when does a gun lock itself? She probably didn't expect any real resistance, but he's nothing if not quick on his feet. The Guardian groans as he deploys countermeasures even as he burns away. Iona got to dream. She got to fly, in the end. Roland wonders if he'll dream, with whatever comes next. He very much liked flying.
In the end, all he could do is hope and have faith.

Happy birthday to Jul 'Mdama!
Today is his -465th birthday!
Tumblr media
'Mdama's mistrust for humanity was pragmatic: he recognized humanity as a threat, and felt that, left unchecked, they would colonize beyond the Sangheili's control. Jul was not particularly religious, but was willing to use what remained of the Covenant's piety as a means to his ends. After the death of his wife, his hatred of humanity became personal, going to great lengths to ensure their destruction. He met his end at the Battle of Kamchatka at the hands of Spartan Jameson Locke. With his death, his remaining forces were defeated at Sunaion on Sanghelios, marking the end of his Covenant and the Covenant as understood before the Great Schism.
After the fall of the Covenant, he disagreed with Arbiter Thel 'Vadam's decision to make peace with humanity. He sought out others who shared his belief, and partnered with Avu Med 'Telcam, leader of the Servants of the Abiding Truth. After following 'Telcam to meet his secret weapons supplier, he was captured by Spartan Naomi-010 and brought to ONI Research Facility Trevelyan, where he was interrogated and experimented on.
Meanwhile, his wife, Raia, died in search of him, having insisted on boarding one of 'Telcam's frigates in her search for him. The frigate was shot down by the Arbiter's forces as 'Telcam attempted to bombard the state of 'Vadam.
At Trevelyan, he learned of the Didact and his location. After escaping through a portal, he convinced the Sangheili inhabitants of the reclusive Hesduros--who had not heard about the Great Schism--to assist him in finding the Didact. It was here that he learned of his wife's death, and his determination to destroy humanity was solidified. Jul called his faction the Covenant--the last vestige of the original hegemony.
On Requiem, Jul forged an agreement with the Didact due to their shared desire to eradicate humanity, coining himself the "Didact's Hand". There, he learned of the Janus Key, a Forerunner "key" which would allow him to access the Absolute Record, a Forerunner artifact repository. He partnered with Catherine Halsey, who had been taken prisoner by the UNSC, and who had her own reasons for wanting access to the Absolute Record.
After the record was destroyed, Halsey realized that she would no longer be useful to Jul. Thus, she devised a trap and contacted the UNSC to give them Jul's location. Fireteam Osiris arrived and engaged 'Mdama and his forces in close combat, with Locke eventually initiating a fatal blow to Jul's stomach and neck with a combat knife.
Back home, his sons--now orphaned and grieving--would take diverging paths. His oldest, Dural, would be taken in by 'Telcam and join the Servants of the Abiding Truth. His youngest, Asum, would be fostered by Kasha 'Hilot and taken to live on the multi-species community Paxopolis. Asum committed himself to nonviolence, and befriended other species--including a human--during his stay there. Thus, Jul's sons find themselves on opposing sides of post-war conflict.

I finally got to explore and take some photos of the Seraph Station. This was my favorite shot from my trip.
Tumblr media
The first time I walked through the doors and into the vacuum of space, seeing the Traveler from this vantage point… it brought me to tears. I had to take a moment and just observe.
I’m so grateful for my fireteam allowing me a moment of uninterrupted peace. This will always be one of my most memorable experiences in Destiny 2.

Sangheili Bracket Round 2 Match 12
More info below:
Rhu 'Vrath:
Debuted in Halo 5: Guardians (Mission Intel)
Once an assassin serving Jul 'Mdama's Covenant, he would infiltrate the Swords of Sanghelios for a mission to kill Arbiter Thel 'Vadam following the death of Jul 'Mdama and failed attack on Vadam lands. While in a camp between battles, Rhu would sneak into the Arbiter's tent for the kill, where he found the Arbiter readying his armor. Upon seeing the Mark of Shame on Thel's bare chest, Rhu would stop and question himself and his previous views on the Arbiter. He would then lose his opportunity as the Arbiter's eyes met his, causing Rhu to look away and abandon the assassination. Following this, he genuinely defected to the Swords of Sanghelios, taking part in further conflict in Nuusra as a Banshee pilot in Attack Wing Jardam. While flying, he would take note of Fireteam Osiris' contributions, reflecting on Jul 'Mdama's statements on humanity and their might.
Jat:
Debuted in Halo: Fractures ("Oasis")
Once living on Glyke, Jat would follow Rojka 'Kasaan to Carrow after the destruction of his homeworld, helping found the city of Rak. When civil war broke out over disputes on how to deal with the humans that had returned to the planet, Jat chose to remain loyal to Rojka and believed in making peace between the two species. To that end, he shadowed a death squad sent to Masov Oasis to incite violence. He would later be discovered by a member named Ruha, who bested him in battle and attempted to execute him, only for a passing human teenager named Dahlia to rescue him. However, this rescue was only due to Dahlia not knowing his species, and she was quick to act uncomfortable around the grateful Jat, even cutting off his introduction so that only his first name is known within the story. Yet she would accept that Jat owed her a life debt and allowed him to escort her to Masov Oasis to seek aid for her ailing settlement. After dropping her off at the human trading post, he would later rescue her and two other humans being taken by hostile Sangheili. Only Jat and Dahlia would flee the oasis, chased by Spectres until they were ultimately forced into a confrontation. While fighting hard, Jat would ultimately be overpowered by four enemies. Just as both were about to be killed, Surakan Militia alerted by the humans they separated from arrived and rescued Dahlia - whilst one of the men callously killed Jat despite Dahlia's protests that he was her friend. Still, his death would not be completely in vain, as Dahlia would later save her home and used the courage he taught her to join the militia.
Additional commentary: MY FUCKING 11-PAGE BLORBO DARLING. What stalls me from constantly re-reading Oasis to see him in action is knowing the ending will always enrage me. He should have lived! He should have kept a lifelong friendship with Dahlia and become an important ally to Rojka! We didn't even get his full name ;_;

Talk about their backstory!!!!
I'll have you know I had planned to do a self-reblog @ing you to come ask a question but you took the bait before I even cast the line.
So! The titan in white with the Burning Maul is Ember, my Young Wolf. She has a good deal of the YW's canon personality, with my personal headcanons and grudges. They have some Issues caused by a lot of the Everything, like not being all that Okay after the Black Heart incident, the Red War, Cayde's death, seeing their own grave in the Corridors of Time (side note too many people seem to forget this happened because no one seems to capitalize on the Potential here), nearly getting Spark, her Ghost, killed like twice now. She really wants to stop being the Vanguard's first solution but dammit no one else can do it so she'll keep going til she falls, and she knows they'll fall eventually. My fanfics generally try to keep the YW as close to canon as possible to allow for personal interpretations, but Ember is who I envision when I write them. For the most part, the people around Ember and Spark do not know they have names for Reasons (that I will gladly elaborate on if you want to know more). She's also my main.
Now we get to talk about Fireteam Varanus! Buckle the fuck up!
They consist of Morinovus-20, the blue titan with the Banner Shield, Rosie, the pink hunter with the Golden Gun, and Syrja, the green hunter with the knives and the Monte Carlo. They met and formed their fireteam during the Great Ahamkara hunt and quickly became close friends. Syrja met Rosie not long after she was risen, having accidentally gotten mixed up with an Ahamkara Rosie was hunting. Syrja did well for a New Light and Rosie started mentoring her. Rosie already knew Mori from a previous hunt and they decided to stick together. Rosie was the Bad Influence who always took an almost child-like joy in the thrill of battle. Syrja was the nervous one, but she relaxed easily around her fireteam and was easily dared into reckless acts by Rosie. Mori was the responsible one of the group, doing his best to be the voice of reason in contrast with Rosie's impulsiveness. While he may not always have agreed with Rosie's ideas, he was the protector of the group and he'd be damned if they got hurt when he could've done something, so he always tagged along and had more fun than he'd ever admit.
Anyways then the Great Disaster happened. Mori literally exploded into void Light protecting Rosie and Syrja as they tried to retreat, and Rosie got mortally wounded being reckless while trying to both cover Syrja and heal herself. Syrja took up Rosie's cloak and is forever mournful that she has nothing from Mori's armor, what with there being nothing left of him after he gave everything to protect his friends.
Syrja went on a Hive killing spree on Earth after that, becoming much more subdued than she ever was previously. Unless she was angry. Then she was slaughtering anything vaguely Hive-like when she couldn't take revenge on the Hive that killed Fireteam Varanus (Syrja always believed a part of her died that day as well). Until she could. She was brought onto the mission to kill Crota, meeting Ember in the process, and when that wasn't enough she volunteered for the Oryx mission as well. When that still didn't bring peace she kept wandering around the Cosmodrome killing Hive.
Then the Red War hits, and Syrja is about ready to come to terms with the whole "welp guess the world's ending" when she stumbles across a New Light. The New Light was rezzed mere minutes before Ghaul caged the Traveler and so doesn't really have a way to defend herself. Syrja takes pity and decides to help her. This New Light is Sylvia, the Nova Warp warlock with no helmet. As the two get acquainted Syrja comes to the conclusion that Sylvia reminds her a lot of Rosie, lacking the experience to back up any carelessness, but still possessing that same carefree attitude Rosie always had, especially when she probably shouldn't have. Sylvia suggests that its because she knows Syrja will have her back and she's not sure how to feel about that. After all, with Varanus it was always her and Rosie who could rely on Mori having their backs. Syrja doesn't tell her this though.
Then they get their Light back when the Traveler is freed and the first time Sylvia uses her Light she explodes into Void and Syrja about has a full-panic attack about it, laughing about what a sick joke the universe is playing. She wants to abandon Sylvia then and there but dammit she's Attached now and doesn't stay away for long enough for Sylvia to get herself hurt. Syrja opens up about Varanus and the two eventually become closer, and Syrja finally starts to work through the whole 'grieving process' or whatever
Anyways feel free to ask more about them. Can't flesh them out too much otherwise!

tell me about your Destiny characters? 👁️
YIPEEEEE!!! OKAY OKAY
I've got three FireTeams, Chaos, Peace, and Furious.
FireTeam Chaos is a collaboration between me and my friend who I roped into playing Destiny with me, I own Fossil(Human Hunter, She/her), Kaisk(Eliksni mortal, She/her), My friend owns Jackie(Human(later exo) Titan, He/him) and together we made Scrapwork(Scorn Warlock, He/it), and Dutar(Hive Guardian but unknown what class, He/him). They all kinda just exist in the Destiny2 world, surviving whatever the current disaster is.
Peace, I've got Lazarus-5(Titan exo, he/him) who used to be a therapist but then the vanguard during Lightfall was like "Hey you're a guardian, and a senior guardian at that, lead this fireteam because we need literally everyone on this.", Then there's Radio(Hunter Awoken, they/them) who I actually have a cosplay of! Anyway, they're the kinderguardian of the FireTeam, only being revived around the witchqueen stuff, who for their first big mission was sent to find Marmalade-16(Warlock Exo, she/her) who, after being given no help from the vanguard after getting trapped in a hive nest for literal years, went rogue. When Radio eventually convinces Marm to give the vanguard a second chance, they're assigned to Lazarus to train, because Radio is a newlight and Marm spent her newlight years in a hive nest.
Furious is more a band than a fireteam, they just call themselves a FireTeam because they're a group of guardians that work together, there's Neon(Titan exo, any pronouns), Hunter(Human Hunter, he/him), and Elisa(Awoken Warlock, she/they). Shortly after being assigned together by the vanguard they all just defected and play shows like a rock band to whoever is willing to pay them
TY for the ask! ::3

Distinguishing features: Prominent nose, indented cheeks, crooked smile
Dress/Clothing preference: Metal chestplate with a glowing center, knives strapped to his arms, New Monarchy details on the shoulders, cowboy pants with a hand cannon at his hip, cowboy boots with spurs, a dark red slightly shredded cloak that is always draped over his left shoulder
Mannerisms: Talks with his hands
Physical talents/Skills: Rarely misses his shots; can triple jump and do parkour but is klutzy as heck
Face claim: Matthew Mercer
Voice claim: Same as above, literally the og male human guardian voice
Normal tone: Friendly, upbeat, warm
Language & accent: English and some Eliksni; Midwestern accent
Occupation: Hunter guardian for the Last City
Current home/planet: The Last City, Earth
Situation: Protecting Earth - and the rest of the galaxy - from its enemies, including the Darkness
Motivation: To protect his loved ones and those who can’t protect themselves
Biggest strength(s): His natural-born leadership
Biggest issue(s): His klutziness
Strongest trait: Compassion
Personality: Kind, helpful, compassionate, friendly, loving
Habits: Helping people; falling over and tripping on stuff all the time; gets easily emotional and cries at stuff without shame; has no trouble talking to people normally but gets SUPER awkward around people he’s romantically interested in
Ambition/Short and Long Term Goals: He wants to rid the universe of the Darkness by any means necessary
Greatest fear(s)/Phobias: Losing his loved ones; the Darkness itself
Biggest secret(s): He doesn’t get them often, but his nightmares are always about his loved ones turning to the Darkness and him being forced to kill them
Social skills: Loves talking to people and is able to befriend others immediately
Optimist or Pessimist: Optimist
Introvert/Extrovert/Ambivert: Extrovert
Alignment: Lawful Good
Original home/planet: Born and raised in Montana, moved to California as an adult to join the army
Important history: His story follows the events of the first Destiny game and its expansions; he’s basically the “main character”. With the help of his other fireteam members, Rocky and Isaac, he defeated Oryx and brought temporary peace to the Last City. He’s since then become the “official” greeter of all the new Guardians who come to the Last City. In his original life, he was a soldier who was devoted to protecting the Earth from potential invaders. He had a fiancé who wanted to travel the rest of the galaxy, but couldn’t convince Matt into leaving with her. She ended up leaving on the ship that would cause the creation of the Awoken while Matt stayed on Earth and witnessed the Collapse. His name was teasingly given to him by some other Guardians who were bullying him when he first came to the City as a Guardian (they called him a floormat due to his tendency for falling on his face).
Family: No living relatives, but he considers his fireteam his family
Best Friend: Roq-5 AKA Rocky; these two are so close, some people mistake them for a couple LOL
Significant Other/Love interest: Suriya Hawthorne, girlfriend
Friends, Enemies, Acquaintances, and Colleagues: The leader of Fireteam Misfit. He has respectful relationships with Isaac and Marvel, a strong platonic sibling/soulmate relationship with Hannah, acts like an older brother to Ace and Lunaa, and is quite supportive of Uldren. Good friends with Fon (@tobestik’s OC). Highly respects the Speaker and the Vanguard. He’s friends with literally everyone in the Last City and beyond, and one of the biggest supporters of the friendly relations between the House of Light and Caiatl’s forces. His only enemies are the ones presented as such (Ghaul, Oryx, Savathun, etc.) and anyone who fully aligns themself with the Darkness (Guardians who wield Darkness abilities were hard for him to get used to at first, but he’s made peace with it; however you will never see him doing anything of the sort)
Phys. Health/Mental Health: Perfect physical health; has minor PTSD from when Isaac died
Education: He knows a lot about all the different alien species in the galaxy (it’s a special interest of his). He’s also well-versed in all the different weapons and weapon types that exist; he’s basically a major nerd
Religion: He believes very much in the Traveler and that it truly is the world’s savior
Romantic/sexual preference: Hetero
Interests/Hobbies: He collects artifacts and weapons from other species and likes to display them in his quarters
Favorite phrases: “Welcome to the Last City!”, “I can help!”, and *crashing noises*
Favorite color(s): Red and bronze
Favorite food/drink: Coffee
Favorite music: Country and soft rock
Favorite quote/saying: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”
Weapon(s) of choice: The Sunshot and Huckleberry; most pistols and hand cannons honestly
Role model: All of the Vanguard, but mainly Zavala
Important personal item/Prized possession: His cloak, which was gifted to him by the Speaker after he first came to the Last City
Creator trait(s): The ability to dance, Midwestern accent, PTSD due to loss, love of coffee, being the voice of reason, natural older sibling nature, getting awkward around romantic interests, collecting and displaying trinkets
Inspiration for creation: When I first started playing Destiny, I wanted to make a character that looked like McCree from Overwatch, but I ended up making him just straight up look like Matt Mercer instead LOL. My reasoning was further supported by the fact that the og voice for male humans was in fact actual Matt Mercer haha

The tunnels underneath the Moon’s surface were one of not many places Quinn felt welcome. The Hive didn’t bother her for the most part, save for some thralls that trailed after her and nudged at her hands to get her attention. They were adorable, in a way, and she didn’t mind their presence.
At least she could see, the tunnels showing in her mind in all shades of green, illuminated by threads of Hive magic.
But the peace wasn’t meant to last, it seemed.
She can feel the Hive stir and she can hear the screeching rising all around. Even the thralls that accompanied her rush into the tunnels ahead, leaving her alone. Quinn knows it’s not safe for her to get in the way of a Guardian, but she’s too curious to not check it out - it was a long time since she saw another being.
Floating after the thralls, she gets in the way of a Hunter, neither of them expecting one another.

Frametober Day 19: Plump
In the occupied territories of the Free States, dotted across the El-Khalaban Empire's western coast, the scars of the war remain fresh. Whilst much of the Federation and Empire have had a chance to relax in the past decade and a half, the people of the Free States do not go a week without hearing of another mine being set-off accidentally, or undetonated ordinance causing devastation to the cliffs surrounding their perilous lands.
To handle these circles of entrapment and danger around the ancestral lands of the Free States, the RFI created "Open Circle", a Lance of Frames with the express purpose of clean-up, land renewal, and peacekeeping inside the Free State territories.
To that end, Open Circle Frames tend to be Artillerist or Spiders - fast moving Sprinter class Frames would be of little use in the slow, methodological clean-up process of the surrounding hills and farmlands, and Mages were quickly deemed too unpredictable to be of any use. As such, the typical Open Circle Frame tends to be heavily armoured, bulky, slow, or any other pejorative you can think of. Don't worry, the Free Staters have already thought of better ones.
That brings us to the most notable thing about Open Circle - it's utter failure. Although some minefields and ordinance in essential areas were cleared away by their Frame Fireteams and attaché infantry units, the removal of explosive devices especially in an Easterly direction has been slow-going at best. On top of that, Open Circle takes its "peacekeeping" role more seriously than most, and as such not a protest goes by in the inner cities of the Free States where an Open Circle Fireteam isn't present, watching with revolvers armed.
This all goes to say that Open Circle are at best disliked by the locals, and at worst, feared. The RFI has been thinking of revamping the sub-organisation for years, but with the glacial progress on the ratification of the fabled "Dune Peace", their hesitance to fully clean-up the Free States of its many mined spaces speaks volumes.
