in my many years of running online communities i have dealt with many near-identical representatives from respective species of idiot, loser and asshole and by far the worst person to have on your server is the primordially clueless unfunny guy who Means Well to the extent that you would feel bad for just banning them because they genuinely have something wrong with them that makes them insanely annoying. not a cognitive disability i mean just terminally unsophisticated. in all cases it is better to just have the forums-hardened shit-stirrer who can be banned unceremoniously. the meek and infuriating Naif is subject to months of discussion in the mod chat as we all try to weigh our sense of social responsibility against everyone being sick of this fucking guy

I am not immune to the Black Garden! What a neat circle for the Guardian to walk — although I had hoped the circle would be closed in the expansion instead of in a short season’s end quest after a long fallow period. To be able to go there with Strand and Tichuu’s and the allies we have now. And the Vex are the one species we haven’t allied with yet!!

oh Destiny and it’s eagerness for self-mythologizing nostalgia! man I have all the old complaints about the new mission this week: Destiny classically keeps the player character out of the most important moments. I’d have liked a little more dialogue for context about what this mission means for the Guardian. Saying the new Heart was a simulation feels so cheap because of how often this game reuses assets — Which it does creatively and well! But it does it a lot.

I like the “You’ve cleared the table” speech, which gets me ready for a final stand. And I think this nostalgia for the Black Garden is finally, finally earned — but it’s merely nostalgia
