just a lil firefighter!sid fluff for y'all :)
gif from @ehghtysevenarchive + per this ask and others
Surely, the chief of Canada's oldest fire department has more important things to do on a crisp morning, the last one preceding a fresh week, than this. He most definitely does. And, yes, Chief Crosby is known for his pragmatic approach to, well, everything.
But neither carries weight here—not when she calls.
Leaky faucet, dead car battery, unreachable spider... It doesn't matter. One ring, and he's rushing home. He can't pin-point when the pattern began, likely sometime shortly between the day you moved into town and his first off-day, but it's a routine he's come to enjoy despite the extra strain on both his schedule and his body; Sidney never thought sharing a property line could be so tedious or time-consuming.
He knows he shouldn't enjoy the distraction as much as he does. You aren't together, Sidney doesn't ever allow his imagination wander that far, but he can't help it. He can't help but help. He rarely turns down anyone in need, which has done wonders for his reputation within the community, but with you... With you, it's different, and embarrassingly so.
He doesn't have the words to explain it. Not that he needs to, it's written plainly across his face.
There's a reason you're regular fixtures in the town's gossip column.
When he arrives on scene—not ten minutes after his F-Series crawled down the gravel drive—Sidney shakes his head and laughs. Collecting his cell and his radio, he slips out of the truck, watching as you fret like a mother hen.
Still in your slippers, you're stood at the base of a decently-sized red spruce wedged between his yard and yours, your crumpled face angled up into the yellow-green needles. You're the very picture of worry, wringing your trembling hands and muttering to yourself.
A stray kitten caught in a tree, that's what's got you in a such a state.
"Well, this is a new one," he bellows in lieu of a greeting, slamming the door shut as his boots hit the ground.
Briefly, your glassy eyes dart in his direction. You're midway through your customary apology when he arrives at your side and quiets you, just as he always does.
"They're more than capable of holding down the fort for however long it takes to rescue our new friend, okay?"
"I know, but what if—"
"But nothing," Sidney huffs, and he dares to take you by the shoulders. And, externally, he ignores the way you shiver under his palms. "If I didn't think it was safe for me to step out for a couple of minutes, I wouldn't. You believe me, right?"
You nod, bottom lip pinched between your teeth.
"Good. Now, how 'bout you keep an ear on this," Sidney sets the clunky satellite radio in your hand, "—and I'll grab the ladder from the shed?"
He doesn't really need your help monitoring the channel, but he knows you'll feel better if you feel like you're doing something. Like him, you find comfort in your utility.
In less than a minute, Sidney re-emerges, rounding the corner with a ladder in hand. You're in the same spot, now fidgeting with the radio, anxiously dumping it from one palm to the other and back again. He follows your gaze to line up the simple equipment necessary for the rescue operation.
Sidney's heart swells as you quietly step forward to spot him.
Lucky for everyone, the ball of orange fur is on the branch nearest to the ground. Sidney needs only to step up onto the first wrung to safetly coax the frightened creature into his waiting hands, he's back on the ground not long after.
He gives the kitten a gentle parting scratch under the chin, then transfers the purring fluff to you. The soft bundle takes to you immediately, nuzzling into your chest like that's where it wanted to be all along.
"I think he likes you," Sidney observes with a cheek-numbing grin.
Your lips are tipped up at the end and there's fan of happiness rooting itself around your eyes. Your mouth opens to reply, but before the words come—
"Well, would you look at this?"
Across the quiet street and a few houses to the left sits an audience of two. Both of which are now cooing as loudly as two ladies in their sixties can manage. Coffee cups in one hand and their cellphones propped up in the other, they fawn over the two of you as if it's live theater.
Sidney curses their sons, who he'd completed the explorer program with as teens, for enabling this technological torture.
"Smile, you two! Oh, Denise is just going to eat this up," one of them, a spitfire in a 4'11 frame by the name of Mrs. Bouchard, exclaims to her co-conspirator, Ms. Johnston.
Then, to no one's surprise and Sid's chagrin, they giddily type out their respective messages to the local paper's equally-nosy editor-in-chief.
"Looks like we're front-page news again," you hum bashfully.
The tabby mewls in your arms. You curl into the little bundle of fur, lips landing between its delicate ears.
Sid studies you in his periphery as he slips in and out of heady contemplation, ultimately deciding he doesn't mind as much as he once did. "That we are..."
eek! wait, why do i luv them already 🥹
as always, i would really appreciate if you reblogged my work, left a comment or dropped by my inbox w some feedback :) fandom runs on engagement, and so do writers!! thx a mil in advance!

How could they do this and not invite Sid :/
sid put on a brave face and climbed that fire truck ladder once because he had a camera on him, but his devastating fear of heights means he's left his secret dreams of firefighting behind him </3 it's okay sid you have a great future as a hockey player instead

this delicate place by @ljummen
sidgeno (2019, explicit, 32.8k) **content notes: mental illness, anxiety attacks, depression, trauma and its aftermath
“Are you?” Taylor asks unexpectedly. “Am I what?” Looking up from the stove, Sid finds her watching him with an odd look on her face. “Happy.” It should be an easy question to answer. Sid has escaped back to Canada after a career ending injury. It doesn’t dawn on him exactly how much early retirement has affected him, until Taylor introduces him to a YouTube channel where a firefighter talks about his own struggles with his mental health.
Hey Geno,
I just watched this video and realized that I’ve had several panic attacks over the course of a few months. I had one a few hours ago. I haven’t experienced anything traumatic, but anxiety (I assume, based on your description in this video) has been sneaking up on me. A week ago, I bought two plants, like you suggested in another video. Today’s panic attack was triggered by me noticing that they were dead (the plants, I mean).
I feel stupid for reacting to something so trivial. I haven’t watched that many of your videos, but from what I understood, you actually experienced something bad. So why am I broken for no reason?
this is a hard time of year.
it's dark, it's cold (if you're in the northern hemisphere), and for me at least, it always seems like the post-holiday winter stretch is when bad things happen. it's easy to get lost in your own head and spend hours dwelling on what's gone wrong, or what might go wrong, and get stuck in a negative feedback loop that can be so, so hard to break out of.
i've mentioned before that i don't love fics that diagnose sid (or geno, but it's usually sid) with certain neurodivergencies because in my experience it leads to people talking about him like he actually has x or y and it makes me uncomfortable, but i re-read this fic last night because i've been feeling down recently and i think it deserves a moment in the spotlight.
this story is a very raw, honest look at what it can be like to deal with depression and anxiety, from the perspective of someone who never has before and doesn't know what's going on and needs an extra push to see what's happening and get help.
depression is a lonely, isolating experience, and that's part of what makes it so dangerous. it's so easy to not notice that you're withdrawing and losing yourself until it's almost too much to climb out of, and on top of all that you've lost all motivation to take steps to get better. it's a vicious, evil little trick the brain can play on you, and @ljummen walks us through sidney's experience with it with care, honesty, and compassion.
this fic made me feel seen. it can be hard to read—sid has panic attacks and we as readers experience them right along with him, along with the other symptoms of depression—but if you're in a space where reading about it won't make you feel worse or trigger anything, i really recommend it. we see sid struggle, we see him be in denial of what he's dealing with—what does he have to be depressed over, after all? what trauma does he have to deal with?—and, crucially, we see him turn a corner and start to get better.
i think that's the magic of this story. sid manages to step outside of the black pit he's stuck in long enough to take steps to get help, and he meets someone who knows him and understands what he's going through, and they fall in love despite the obstacles in their way. it's a story about someone whose life isn't going the way they thought it would, but who manages to see that's not necessarily the end of the world, and for me at least reading this story gave me comfort and hope.
yes, it can be dark at times. life can be hard, so hard that it seems easier to just go back to bed and try and wait it out. but you also might meet someone who sees you, and knows you, and is there for you, and who you can see and know and support in return. there's light out there, if you can peek outside the curtain to look for it.
i hope you're all taking care of yourselves. be gentle with your own mind if you've been having a difficult time. reach out to the people who love you—they want to be there for you, even if you're hearing that little voice that says you're just a burden.
and if you're up to it, read this story, which will hopefully provide you a little comfort and escape and hope, like it does for me when i'm having bad days.
read it here on ao3!

More backstory for Annie Line (aka orphan line) for Let's Fall in Love, IRL
But the boys
i got asked this in the comments of chapter 5 so i thought i would make a whole post
i'm still debating if i'm going to actually put this in the fic but i of course know roughly how old each boy was when they got into the group home and why so i thought i would share.
i may still find a way to put in in the fic later but just in case
Question: "we're the kids in the group home since like they were babies?"
the short answer: yes and no
tw: abandonment, mention of death, mention of parents losing custody, mention of child abuse
Chan
In the group home since birth
His parents were young and gave him up before moving to Australia. A group home is supposed to function a sort of limbo while children wait to either be put into foster homes or adopted or to be brought back to their parents. None of that happened for Chan so he just...stayed at the group home. His parents ended up having two kids later (Hannah and Lucas) which he does know but only found out when he aged out of the system and requested his files. He decided it was best not to interrupt their lives and besides, he made his own little family.
Changbin
In the group home since he was 1
Changbin's dad died right before he was born. Ironically enough, he was also a firefighter and died in line of duty. The grief and the eventual postpartum depression was too much for his mom so he and his older sister were taken away from her while she was institutionalized. A family member who already had too many kids of their own took in his sister and thought that raising another boy was too much of a hassle than he was worth. Eventually his mom died and his sister got officially adopted by the relative who then moved to another part of the country.
Hyunjin
In the group home since he was 6 months
Hyunjin's mom died in childbirth and his dad tried to take care of him on his own but he was a painful reminder so he gave him up. He lied to his family when they asked what happened to the baby. He told them that the baby died from SID (sudden infant death syndrome) and couldn't deal with another funeral so shortly after his wife died. Hyun's file is almost completely blank besides that fact about his mother and his name, which was chosen by his mother.
Seungmin
In the group home since he was 4
Both Seungmin and his older sister were children of abuse. Their parents were arrest and both Seungmin and his sister were put into the same group home. However, Seungmin's sister ended up getting adopted. They tried to get both children adopted together to prevent them from being seperated but the parents who adopted her only wanted one child. She promised that they would see each other in school and that she would come visit him but eventually, the family ended moving to the states shortly after. The siblings never got the chance to say goodbye.

Who wears what for Halloween from Band of Brothers or The Pacific? (Three character or more.) ( No pressure!)
Okay full disclosure I slightly outsourced this to the group chat but please assume that all the good ideas are mine. 😅
Leckie - he goes as some kind of unbearable pun. Princess Peach if the lads have their way.
Hoosier - shows up in a baseball jersey and says it's a costume.
Chuckler and Runner - they both insisted on being Batman and then felt bad at the last minute and decided to let the other person do it. They both turn up as Robin.
Sledge - says he's a werewolf but it's clearly a last-minute repurposed cat costume. Says "it's a werewolf" like fifteen times but eventually gives up.
Sid - thinks Halloween should be scary. Shows up wearing a frankly terrifying homemade vampire costume.
Andy & Eddie - the cowboy and the centurion from Night at the Museum. #RamiMalekCrossoverEvent
Snafu - zombie and he's method about it. (Is that real blood on his face?)
Burgie - firefighter? Captain America? He looks fine as hell, whatever it is.
Lena & John - Couples costume. Something cute like Popeye and Olive Oil or matching scarecrows. He says he let her choose but he is way more into it than she is.

And now we get a quick doodle of Boris and Sid!
When looking for some reference paint job, I am surprised to find out that IL-76 actually flied a rescue mission and bring the resource we need to my country after a really severe earthquack happened.
So I took the paint job of that IL-76 and modified the pattern on the tail, but I am never sure about painting the strips on Boris' body sky-blue or red
As for the frame difference, Boris, according to the data fron Wikipedia, is almost twice in length and wing span as Siddeley
So I accidently drew a giant Siddeley cuddling close up with Boris🤣
Leave your comments if you'd like to tell me how you feel for Boris in red (as firefighting aircraft) or in sky-blue (as rescue cargo plane)

I wrote a Paw Patrol fan episode where Arrby becomes friends with the pups!
.
.
.
In the heart of Adventure Bay, the Paw Patrol pups were soaking up the sun on the sandy shores of their favorite beach. The waves rolled gently in, and laughter filled the air as they played their games. Marshall, the spirited Dalmatian with a penchant for firefighting, was building a particularly impressive sandcastle, using his firefighter's hat.
Meanwhile, Arrby, the scrappy Dachshund who was Sid the Pirate's loyal sidekick, sat at a distance, eyeing the fun-filled scene with a mixture of curiosity and longing. He had watched the Paw Patrol from afar for weeks, torn between his loyalty to Sid and his yearning for friendship.
One sunny day, he mustered the courage to approach the pups. With a hopeful gleam in his eye, he padded up to them and asked, "Hey, can I play with you guys? Just for today. Please don't tell Sid."
The pups paused their game, surprised by Arrby's unexpected request. Chase, the responsible and protective German Shepherd, exchanged cautious glances with his fellow pups.
Marshall, always eager to make friends, grinned warmly at Arrby. "Sure thing, Arrby! The more, the merrier!"
Arrby's tail wagged with excitement, and he joined the pups in their beach activities. Chase, Skye, Rocky, and the others observed the interaction closely, not entirely convinced of Arrby's intentions.
As the day unfolded, Arrby's enthusiasm was infectious. He participated in games of fetch, dug in the sand alongside Rocky, and even demonstrated his impressive agility by leaping into the waves with Skye. Slowly but surely, Arrby began to win over the Paw Patrol pups with his friendly demeanor.
Marshall, in particular, had taken a liking to Arrby. They built sandcastles together, shared jokes, and, most importantly, developed a strong bond of friendship. Marshall was the first to see past Arrby's past as a pirate's sidekick and recognize the pup's genuine desire for companionship.
But the other pups were not as quick to trust Arrby. Chase, ever vigilant, couldn't shake his concerns. "Marshall, are you sure about this? He's still friends with Sid the Pirate, after all."
Marshall, still working on their sandcastle, responded with a reassuring smile, "I think Arrby's trying to change, just like we help others change for the better."
The other pups exchanged uncertain glances but decided to give Arrby a chance—for Marshall's sake.
As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the beach, Marshall gathered his friends around him. "Hey, pups! What do you say we light up a bonfire and roast some marshmallows?"
The idea excited everyone, and they eagerly started gathering wood for the bonfire.
However, in their enthusiasm, Marshall accidentally dislodged a large branch, and perched atop it was a family of mischievous raccoons, who had made a cozy nest there. The branch now teetered dangerously on the edge of a cliff, threatening to plummet into the ocean below, taking the raccoon family and their nest with it.
Panic rippled through the group as they realized the gravity of the situation. The raccoons chattered in alarm, clinging desperately to the swaying branch, their nest precariously perched.
Chase: (worried) "We've got to stop it! We can't let the raccoons and their home fall!"
Marshall turned to Arrby, a glint of hope in his eyes. "Arrby, remember your pirate skills! Can you use your quick thinking to come up with a plan to save the raccoons?" Arrby used to come up with urgent plans due to their various quick escapes him and his pirate friend had to attend.
Arrby nodded and quickly assessed the situation. Drawing on his past experiences as a pirate pup, his eyes darted around, searching for a solution. He spotted a nearby length of rope and a couple of abandoned surfboards that had washed ashore.
"Skye, use your aviator goggles to scan for any potential hazards," Arrby commanded.
Skye complied, her goggles activated. She identified a loose boulder near the cliff's edge that posed a danger. "Rocky, we need your eco-friendly tools to secure that loose boulder!"
Rocky, with his recycling truck close by, rushed to secure the boulder, preventing any further danger.
Meanwhile, Zuma used his aquatic skills to navigate the treacherous waters below, ready to assist in case the branch did fall.
With the combined efforts of the pups, Arrby's quick thinking, and the secure boulder, they managed to counterbalance the branch and prevent the raccoon family and their nest from tumbling into the ocean depths.
As the branch stabilized, the raccoons let out relieved chitters and scurried back to their nest, safe and sound. They peeked over the edge of the branch, their tiny paws clutching the side, to watch as the Paw Patrol saved the day.
Marshall, feeling lighthearted after the successful rescue, attempted a celebratory dance but tripped over his own paws, tumbling head over heels onto the sand.
The raccoons, finding Marshall's clumsiness utterly amusing, let out a series of giggles and chatters. The pups couldn't help but join in the laughter, even Marshall himself.
Marshall: (grinning) "Oops! Guess I'll leave the dancing to you, Arrby!"
The other pups, their doubts now fully erased, cheered in unison, "Arrby! Arrby!"
Just then, Ryder's voice came through their pup tags. "Paw Patrol, there was a situation at the beach. I got weird, danger signals on my tablet. Is everyone alright? Pups, what's the status?"
Marshall, still brushing sand off his fur, replied, "Ryder, we had a little mishap with a branch and some raccoons, but Arrby and the team saved the day! Everyone's safe now."
Ryder commended them, "Great job, Paw Patrol! Remember, teamwork makes the dream work. Keep up the good work, and I'll be there if you need me."
Marshall beamed with pride. "See, guys? Arrby's a good pup, and he's changed."
Rocky, humbled by their misjudgment, stepped forward and apologized. "Arrby, we were wrong about you. You're a real hero."
Zuma chimed in with enthusiasm. "Yeah, dude, you're a lifesaver!"
Rubble, his appetite still intact, couldn't resist a lighter note. "Can we still roast those marshmallows, though?"
Laughter erupted as the pups gathered around the bonfire, their doubts and reservations replaced by friendship and gratitude. Arrby had not only saved the day but had also won the trust and acceptance of the Paw Patrol.
As the bonfire crackled and marshmallows sizzled, the Paw Patrol learned a valuable lesson that evening: that sometimes, giving someone a chance could lead to unexpected friendships and newfound heroes. In Adventure Bay, it was clear that everyone deserved the benefit of the doubt, just like Arrby had received from Marshall and the rest of the team. And as Arrby happily joined in the celebration, it was evident that he had finally found the friends he had always wanted in the Paw Patrol.

"this reminded me of you" & "you're my person"
Tumblr media
sidney knew that she was going through it. he knew that she needed her space as well, that she needed to just finish out these last few days of finals and she would officially be done with school forever.
but how could he not buy those earrings?
they were dangling monarch butterfly earrings. he saw them online while he was doing some online shopping himself, and he knew he had to get them. sidney recalled a time where he was over at her house, eating dinner and he took the chance to relax in the arms of someone he felt most comfortable in. she said that she always loved butterflies, that she looks forward to spring time because that's when she gets to see the monarchs flutter around in the air.
so yeah, how could he not get them?
when he was on his way home from picking them up at the store he purchased them from online, he passed by the supermarket with a sign out front that said spring flower bouquet's on sale. between the earrings and the flowers, he knew that this would have to cheer her up. or at least take the load off a little bit.
he wanted to help in any way he could. if he had even a remote idea of how to help her with her schooling, he would. he didn't know a thing about being an attorney. he always said that if he didn't make it in hockey, he would become a firefighter or first responder. lawyer was out in left field for him.
sidney was in such awe all the time when she spoke about attorney things. she wanted to go into medical attorney, helping families who were quite stuck and needed help from the law in their situation. he never asked why medical law, he just figures that if she wants to tell him why she will in due time. but for now, he's gotta focus on making his best girl feel better.
he pulled into the driveway in front of the garage. he looked inside the top windows to make sure her car was there first. when he saw the top of her nissan kicks he grabbed the flowers from his passenger seat and the earrings as well.
"what are you doing here?" she asked with a light smile after opening the door. he handed her the bouquet of flowers, purple, yellow, and green all standing out to her and making her grin. she smelled the fresh scent and sighed- she landed a damn good boyfriend.
"i, well i wanted to make you feel better. i saw these," he handed you the tiny gift bag with a single piece of tissue paper coming out of the top, "and they reminded me of you."
sidney followed his girlfriend inside and watched her open the bag and take the earrings out. she gasped once she noticed that they were monarch butterflies, biting her lip as a smile formed. "you remembered..." she muttered while studying the details of the jewelry in the kitchen lighting.
"yeah, of course i did. you're my person. y'know if i'm gonna be a good boyfriend and keep you around as long as you'll let me," he paused and she looked over at him with a grin where she stood in her dining area, "then i gotta remember this stuff."
she put the earrings on her ears, and they looked beautiful on her. she tucked some hair behind her ear, "i'm your person, huh?"
she laced her arms around his shoulders and with one hand the backs of his fingers ran over her cheek, he looked down and saw the earrings that looked so pretty on her. he made a good choice. he lightly ran the tips of his fingers through his hair, "yeah, you're my person."

sid to a furry friend's rescue!
florist!reader gets flustered during sid's calendar shoot
parents mentors for the day
chief crosby's got a date... and its not with florist!reader
... was in a bit of a silly goofy mood, forgive me (and be sure to read the endnotes!)
gif from @littlemessyjessi
This is the last thing Sidney Crosby imagined he'd come home to: another man settled in his chair.
His cat is curled in the intruder's lap, and said intruder's hand is curled over your knee. And Sidney's soup—homemade and hand-delivered—split in bowls between you.
"Thought you didn't need a babysitter?"
Sidney watches the gleeful expression wilt on your pretty face—color drained like his bank account succeeding the egregious bid he matched to make bail—with equal measures of self-satisfaction and self-contempt.
"I-I didn't, I just—"
"Settle down, Chief," the ranger laughs. "I knew our little lady here was feeling under the weather, so I thought I'd stop by after my patrol shift and keep her company while you were indisposed."
Sidney glares into the bright cerulean eyes of one Anthony Beauvillier, a park ranger in the Atlantic Coast Uplands region.
If memory serves, he was recently transferred from Waverley to Blue Mountain but resides in Peggy's Cove. This is a 50-minute detour.
In the opposite direction.
The Fire Chief's jaw is painfully tight, his blood scalding. If it were't for his, albeit dwindling, sense of self preservation, Sidney would've marched up those two steps—recently refurbished at his hand, might he add—to forcefully remove the park narc's grubby paw from your body.
Mercifully—for all involved parties, you do so shortly and of your own volition before joining Sid in your driveway.
Guilt smeared over your sickly features, your mouth parts, an explanation hot on your tongue, but all that comes is a grizzly cough that stings Sid's chest just hearing it. Despite his vexation, he's patient with you; he owes it to you both to wait it out. He hopes this is just one big misunderstanding somehow.
But, before you're able, the absolute last person Sidney wants to hear from pipes up.
"Resting, ma biche. You're meant to be resting," Tito attempts to coax you back onto the porch—back to his side—with an outstretched, up-turned hand.
(my doe / my darling — reminder: see end for important notes!)
Not as quick with his French as he'd like to be, he growls at the perceived insult. However, rather than running his fist through the opposition's teeth in your honor, Sidney defiles it.
The park ranger, and everyone else who happens to be out and about tonight, are treated to an unexpected eyeful of their Fire Chief's innermost feelings rushing to the surface. They pour into your mouth with reckless abandon, unconcerned with his public image or the utter lack of privacy; this kiss could be broadcast on the Nightly News for all he cares.
All that matters to Sidney Crosby is making his intentions known, and crystal fucking clear. Staking his claim is just a bonus.
"Well, it looks like my work here is done."
At your dazed expression and Sid's bewilderment, Tito stands from the rocking chair with a genuine smile fixed on his face. As he deposits evergreen Stetson atop his wind-swept hair, he pauses.
"Y'all have a nice night," he winks with a tip of the brim, bidding you farewell before slipping into his government-issued Ram.
As gravel crunches under the vehicle's wheels, gears click into place behind Sidney's burnt umber eyes, now gleaming with clarity.
"Nate and Emmy." — Statement, not a question.
"Please, don't be angry. They just wanted to help because... because I didn't believe that... y'know." You gesture to the sliver of space that still separates you, a bashful little smile pushing up your feverish cheeks.
He couldn't find it in himself to be ticked off about your best friends' not-so-harebrained scheme—which, honestly, deserved more credit than he would ever be willing to give it—if he wanted to. Not while standing so close he can smell the PEI tulips you've been elbow-deep in all month, and definitely not having tasted the whisper of herbal tea lingering on your tongue.
Smirking, he closes the gap with a gentle tug.
"Oh, I know." Voice dropping to a thick hush, his lips hovering a lick above your skin, "D'you believe it now?"
The pinkish skin crinkles around his warm eyes as you pretend to think.
"I could do with a little more... convincing," you ultimately quip. "But, only if you're up for the t—"
The remainder of your cajoling is overtaken by a fit of giggles as he corrals you up and across the porch. The front door slams shut with a satisfying air of finality. Though, not before little Ember slips in with you.
Chief Crosby was thorough by nature, and he'd be damned if he didn't dedicate the evening to dispelling any and all doubts threatening to take root. Feigned, or not.
gotcha! teehee 😋 sid really said sick germs?? no match for my LOVE!!! ALSO! tito anon, this ones for you bbyyyyy 💓💓💓💓
***** 'ma biche' was chosen because its typically humorous and rarely intended seriously, + can be considered majorly outdated (even by 60s sitcom standards)—and its not always romantic! ... it also sounds a lot like an english insult, hence sid's reaction lol (at least, according to my french-canadian grandmother who remains very confused by my random call for a french lesson on infrequently used terms of endearment lol) *****
as always, i would really appreciate if you reblogged my work, left a comment or dropped by my inbox w some feedback :) fandom runs on engagement, and so do writers!! thx a mil in advance!

Interstellar Ian - gallavich kid’s show au
i can’t find a discord server to ramble about a gallavich-centric au i’m working on so i’m gonna ramble about the concept here. I am writing a fic for it so I’m not gonna go in depth on the specific plot points, just the idea/background/set up
if you are interested in specifics, though, i’ve already posted a few excerpts from chapter one on this blog under the tag ‘Interstellar Ian AU’.
so seriously hear me out here
ian gallagher is the host of a kid’s show in the same vein as Lazy Town, Blues Clues, etc. He serves as the host who takes the viewers through adventures in a space setting in a show he scored when he was fifteen: Interstellar Ian. it’s on PBS Kids, which is a educational kid’s channel here in the US that is publicly broadcasted and easily available to everyone for free via libraries and youtube and such. shows like Arthur and Sid the Science Kid aired there. it’s actually a really good resource for low-income families with kids but that’s a rant for another day. ian’s show is on their roster!
Frank scammed his way into getting Ian one of his first minor roles when he was fifteen but from there, it was all Ian working his way up. Being an actor screws with all of Ian’s plotlines/erases them even down to the earliest episodes in season one, but most of the rest of the show’s canon still plays out the same except the family’s financial strain isn’t as high for a couple years while fiona uses his income for the household.
it kinda evens back out once ian is an adult and moves into a little apartment closer to set and becomes independent. Ian continues hosting this show into his early adulthood, even though it’s starting to become evident by season eight of Interstellar Ian that they are starting to run out of fresh content and maybe should’ve wrapped it up a few years ago.
Instead of dating Mickey first, Ian actually meets Trevor (trans guy from around season six/seven) FIRST bc he costars on the show during some of the earlier seasons. they have a secret relationship and it eventually goes public, drama, drama, drama, and oops Trevor isn’t an actor anymore and he goes on to open his shelter/queer youth program. Ian and Trevor are on good terms by the main timeline of the fic though
ian remains host of the show and after the initial drama, he becomes well known as a queer icon/actor, especially for young ppl who watch the show/grew up watching it
During the filming of season seven of interstellar ian, Ian also messes around with the new director on set: Caleb the ex firefighter. They don’t get caught or anything but there is still drama and they decide to step back and Not Do That Anymore
Ian has a Thing(tm) for messing around with cute guys on the set of his show and he swears off of it forever.
forever lasts until there is a new electrician hired to the set, reformed criminal!mickey milkovich
in this universe, mickey decided to stop being a major nuisance to the world because mandy got custody of their half-sister from earlier in the show, Molly, and he wants to be able to help them out or at least not cause more problems for them. so he took a course and is a certified electrician who signs a contract with the show because he needs long term + stable work.
Ian can’t drive. he just doesn’t have a car, he never got a license because he got caught up in the acting thing gig around the age that he should’ve gotten it and now he has too much pride to do it. so he leaves the set an hour or two later than basically everyone else. everyone knows this, he was even given a key to the warehouse they film the show in because of it
so, when mickey starts showing up as the actors and crew are leaving to fix flickering lights and switch around wiring, the star of the show is still just There. because despite being famous and rich, his main form of transportation is the public kind and that’s inconsistent
ian and mickey meet due to this overlap in schedules and ian spends the first chunk of the fic struggling because he doesn’t wanna mess around with another guy from set and cause unneeded drama, while mickey seems to like him- but not because he’s an actor/minor celebrity, just because he’s “pretty or whatever”
that’s the general gist of what’s going on, but some other cool details include: svetlana stars as ian’s hairstylist/makeup artist who faked her way there with a forged cosmetology certification, mickey has one pierced ear and maybe a cat, ian takes care of franny a lot + mickey steps up for his younger half sister: molly (so you get like, familial/dad-like gallavich at a few different points), the fic is ian centric and in his pov, and there is a multi-chapter gap in the fic where gallavich “aren’t dating” but are basically in a relationship and I know some of you guys love that trope based off of most of the fics i’ve read in this fandom
I think that’s all I wanna reveal but if you have questions or thoughts, feel free to reblog/send me an ask with them! the plot plan for this thing includes 15 chapters total and i’ve written 4 of them in their entirety. I’m thinking i’ll write all/most of the fic before I start posting it, but we’ll see what happens!
if you wanna know when this fic goes up, make sure you follow this blog. I’ll be using the specific tag ‘Interstellar Ian AU’ to organize information on this, as well. thanks <3

December 25, 1977
In one of the most bizarre settings imaginable the Sex Pistols play their final UK concert, which was a benefit show for the children of striking firefighters.
Johnny Rotten handed out Sex Pistols merchandise while Sid Vicious hit the dance floor with young children. (1977)

Note
Sid isn't stupid. His grades were good in school and although he thought he might have been a firefighter, he very well may have gone to university, been brought into Tim Hortons by his uncle and would now be a highly-paid executive.
Happily married with a mini-van, 3.5 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and an iguana.

[ sam heughan, cis male, he/him, 42 ] One who better stay safe is [ sidney delgado ]. They are a [ firefighter ] who have been in Lancaster for [ less than a year ]. They are [ in favor of the wild coyotes/sinful ones ] and what they stand for. People say they are [ reliable ] and [ thorough ] but their enemies would say they are [ cynical ] and [ removed ]. They are described as [ warm beer on the steps of a trailer, a thirty year-old car that leaks oil but putters to life when needed, stale coffee made for you by a close friend ].
details. name: sidney "sids" delgado age / d.o.b.: 35 / march 13th, 1987 gender, pronouns & sexuality: cis-male, he/him, bisexual (technically in closet) hometown: lancaster, az petaluma, ca affiliation: civilian, associated with the sinful ones by family job position: firefighter, retired professional baseball player education: bachelor's in english from university of texas relationship status: single  children: none (he’d be such a bad parent.) positive traits: fair, honest, reliable, thorough negative traits: cynical, removed, one-track minded
history (to be fleshed out as character develops).
born out of wed-lock to john flemming and grace delgado, the true nature of sidney's existence was meant to be hush-hush. in the beginning, there was no true place he found himself calling "home". he would bounce around various locations in the south-west, staying with so-and-so there and those-guys here. it wouldn't be until sid was near twelve that he was able to settle down into a life in the small town of petaluma, california. if asked, he will say he is from cali, not arizona.
a constant in sidney's life was always baseball. when nothing else made sense to the young boy or went his way, there was always a ball and a bat waiting for him to let off steam. he dedicated himself to the sport, falling into it as a source of comfort when he and his mother moved state lines yet again, moved schools and counties. as long as he could play baseball wherever he went- he didn't care.
his mother's family had always been a presence in his life, and perhaps on some level he knew something about their way of life wasn't exactly how his friends' families operated, but he learned young not to ask too many questions, least you discover something you didn't want to know. the suspicious police officer that followed his relatives one too many times, the strange looks they'd give one another when he asked something they couldn't elaborate upon.
sidney know's good and well who his father is, not that anyone else knows that he does. a letter of correspondence between grace and michael fell into his lap on accident on the eve of his sixteenth birthday, and piece by piece things began to click. pressure had begun to build within him, and with every night of snooping sidney would embark on, it only continued to mount.
his passion for baseball paid off when he was afforded a full-ride sports scholarship to the university of texas. sidney took off to texas the second he could. he couldn't take the lies and facades that surrounded his existence with his mother. his family. he didn't care how much they loved him- was he not allowed to know the truth? did they think he'd just live complacently? whatever their reasons for pretending were, sidney just knew he couldn't take it anymore. he didn't need them to make it in life. he just needed to be good.
sidney's performance on the field throughout college netted him a spot in one of texas' double-a teams' rosters. he didn't care that he had to share an apartment with four other guys just to be able to afford a place to lay his head near the stadium. in his eyes, sidney had finally made it. it would take him another eight years to step foot into a triple-a arena as a player, but when he did, the elation sidney felt was like no other. though never a star player of the major league, sidney prided himself on being a reliable batter in the rotation, always appearing when needed. he lasted seven years playing at that level, before age began to catch up with him. at the age of thirty-four, sidney's time as a professional athlete drew to a close.
after a few strangly worded emails from his mother and uncle, sidney realized there was something afoot. just as the sinful ones move into lancaster, he, too, returns to the town of his birth seeking answers he was once complacent in not knowing about.
wanted connections.
(these are very very very loose ideas that i'm 100% up to polishing with you! sidney is a new character and im still developing him so everything below is a suggestion :3c)
work buddies: sid's taken up a job as a firefighter here in lancaster! anyone in a related field he'd interact with is free to chat him up
club related: because sid is Technically blood to the sinful ones, anyone who's been in the club for the past twenty-ish years has probably heard of grace's son, even if they don't know him.
club related, but this time with dramatic irony: sidney is also technically blood to the wild coyotes (drama). he knows about john and a bit about the wild coyotes, but he hasn't told a soul he knows. could this change if he becomes friends/forms a relationship of some kind??
baseball: sidney still loves the sport and sometimes comes and watches the grade school games at the schools around town. if your character has kids playing, sidney might crack a smile or two at their performance and have some nice words (wow!)
+ any standard connection ideas! (friends, hook-ups, drink buddies, neighbors, etc..)

Hard Eight
First reaction:
Incompetent people stumbling around trying not to hurt each other, but are too powerful when trying to "win" with others. Constantly fucking up, taking unnecessary risks. Being lonely. Filling the void with gambling, drinks, sex.
Sidney takes John and Clementine under his wing to make up for the fact that he fucked up with his own two kids. He feels guilt for having killed John's dad, as well. He lies and says he does all these things altruistically, but really its just to relieve himself of guilt. Deep down, though, Sidney hates that his ego was hurt. Likely mad that Clementine ended up with John. That he was threatened by Jimmy.
John is a sympathetic guy. Sort of dumb. But nice. Genuine. He loves deeply. Apologizes for others. He's not hard nosed like Sidney is deep down. He loves Clementine, but is clueless and lacks a sense of direction. Not sure if it'll work out with Clementine.
Clementine is equally as lost. Doesn't explain herself ever. Seems to be somewhere else mentally. Gets very angry, doesn't think things through. For some reason I can't tell if she genuinely loves John, or if she's putting on an act just to avoid trouble, to catch a ride. In the end, she seems genuinely happy.
The first half of the movie is very slow. Conventional in a way. Laying out the characters. How powerless they really are. Then shit hits the fan and we realize just how much power we really have. The power to fuck things up. The music gets more intense, psychologically-motivated. The camera movements are more frantic. At other times, more slow and deliberate.
Gwyneth Paltrow gives a good performance. There's nuance to her character despite never being explicitly explored.
John C. Reilly isn't the best actor, but I think his hammy performance is fitting for his character (who's a bit slow).
Phillip Baker Hall is excellent. Each line feels layered with potential meaning. This guy has seen it all, and it seems he's deeply examining everyone with their every word. He can read people and situations. He's condescending. As Jimmy says, acts as though he's above it all. Better than everyone, taking the moral high ground (but its only to make himself feel better). But he isn't the best gambler. Knows only so much. Can control only so much. He's a firefighter. He's human.
Sam Jackson is the right amount of cool. He's unwieldy at times, but I think it makes sense. His character, and the others, feel real. He's confident and takes pride in what he does even if he is/comes across as a bit messy. He's a very competent person, though.
So what's it about?
John C. Reilly moves on from the death of his parents and finds a new one in Sidney. From his perspective, an unconditional love. And he seems happy with Clementine.
Clementine goes from having to flirt with pervy guys every night and lacking a sense of direction in life to being married to someone who actually loves her. A nice guy. She has a partner versus having to face the world on her own.
Sidney starts off alone but eventually has John and Clementine under his wing. Unbeknownst to us, he's motivated by guilt. In a way, he kills his guilt in the form of Jimmy. He tells John he loves him, which I'm sure he had never told him before. Sid doesn't tell John about having killed his father. Would it be the right thing to do? I don't think so, as it seems John has fully moved on and accepts Sid as his new father figure. As Sidney says, he's done all he can do. Freed John into the world. Accepted his own loneliness and swallowed the guilt that he killed John's father.
So I guess the movie is about moving on from the pain that haunts us, accepting the shit that makes us happy and allows us to cope, even if it is temporary.
The stains may still be there, as with Jimmy's blood on Sidney's shirt, but all we can do is cover it up and move on. In Sidney's case, he may find someone new to take under his wing and teach his way of life to.
