You sighed to yourself walking up to the Gallaghers door hoping and praying that Fiona wouldn’t be the one to answer the door. You knocked twice before stepping back from the door pulling a pack of cigarettes out of your pocket lighting one. It felt like you were out there forever till the front door opened and you were met with site of Fiona.
You took a long drag off your cigarette pushing past her letting yourself in, “Before you say anything I’m here for lip.”
She nodded following you into the kitchen, “It’s good to see you.”
You turned to look at her for a split second before turning your head to the side not wanting to meet her gaze.
“I guess you’re not gonna talk to me?”
You sighed turning to look at her, “I have nothing to say, I basically told you all I had to say the last time I was here.”
Fiona chuckled shaking her head, “Can you at least tell me if we’re even still together?”
You stayed silent as you walked over to the ashtray sitting on the kitchen table putting out your cigarette, “You hurt me Fi.”
“I know and I feel shit for what I did and I miss you like crazy,” She said stepping closer to where you were standing fiddling with the hem of your jacket.
“Fi, please don’t make this any harder than it already is,” You said trying your hardest not to give in to the temptation of the woman standing in front of you.
You looked at her for a split second and you wanted nothing more than to kiss her, she looked at you with those big brown eyes wrapping her arms around your neck.
You inhaled deeply taking a step back because you were scared that if you stood there like that with her then whatever were to happen next you wouldn’t be able to help yourself, “You didn’t let me finish.”
You cleared your throat looking down at your hands fiddling with your fingers, “It’s hard enough being here being around you.”
You paused before saying your next words, “It’s taking everything in me to not grab you and kiss you, to take you upstairs to your room and have makeup sex with you.”
“Then why don’t you?” Fiona questioned with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
“Because then I picture Jimmy’s smug face and you kissing him which is what’s keeping me from doing just that.”
Fiona looked like it was taking everything in her not to cry, “Okay. Well are you at least still going to come to Carls birthday thing tonight at the house?”
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea Fiona.”
“He really wanted you there. Look you ain’t gotta go for me just do it for Carl at least. Please?”
You really didn’t want to go because it was really hard being around Fiona. You can’t help, but thinking back to the night she told you her and Jimmy kissed. You wanted to say no or just tell her yes that you still plan on coming then just not show up, but then you started thinking about Carl and how much you really care for that boy.
You inhaled deeply running your hand through your hair, “Okay, I will for Carl.”
Fiona nodded shooting you a soft smile. You stood there awkwardly for a few moments, you were thankful though when you heard foot steps coming down the stairs. You turned your head to see lip.
“Yo,” He announced attempting to throw on a jacket.
You kept your gaze on your shoes trying your hardest keep your cool. Lip went over to the fridge pulling out some orange juice. He looked between the two of you with a raised eye brow.
“You guys all good?” He questioned looking at you then back at Fiona for a response.
“Yeah man,” you said.
Fiona nodded shooting lip a dejected smile.
“So where are you two off to?” She questioned trying to change the subject
“I asked her to help me with this piece of shit bike I got in yesterday. Figured I could use her mechanic knowledge.”
You couldn’t stop looking over at Fiona no matter how hard you tried to keep your eyes on anything else, they always ended up back on her.
“I’ll be outside,” You said abruptly looking over at lip.
He nodded, “I’ll be out there in one sec,” You heard him shout before you closed the back door.
-
“Pass me that wrench,” You said pointing over at the tool box beside you, still keeping your full attention on the mess of a bike in front of you.
Lip did as you said handing you the wrench, “You see what I’m doing here?” You questioned
“Yes boss,” He said with a slight chuckle.
Causing you to chuckle, while flipping him the bird. “Thanks for showing me this stuff. Brads been on my ass about this bike for days.”
“Anytime man,” You said tightening up one of the last screws.
“So you and my sister still on the outs?”
You stopped what you were doing reaching over for the rag next to you wiping off your hands, “Think we’re a little more than on the outs.”
Lip nodded taking the cigarette he had sitting behind his ear before lighting it, “You know she feels like shit for what she did, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her this upset”.
You sighed, “I miss her I do, but I don’t think I can trust her.”
Lip took a long drag off his cigarette, “Look I hate to say this because she is my sister. I know she doesn’t have the best track record with loyalty, but I was there that night. She made him leave and she didn’t take it any further than the kiss.”
You inhaled deeply taking in what Lip said, you knew about Fiona’s past relationship endeavors and she was honest with you about everything, but you didn’t know if you were going to be able to take her back after this.
Lip chuckled bringing you out of your thoughts, “Cat got your tongue?”
You chuckled, “I appreciate what you’re trying to do. This is between me and your sister though.”
He nodded putting out his cigarette, “Just don’t dick her around, if you’re gonna call it quits just do it. It’s driving her crazy not knowing. Shit that’s all I’ve been hearing about for the past week.”
“I got it covered man,” You said patting his shoulder.
“And don’t worry even if things don’t work with your sister and I. You can still come stay with me every weekend champ. We also wanna let you know that we still love you very much,” You joked.
“Funny,” Lip said flipping you the bird.
You laughed going over to the tool box stealing one of Lips cigarettes, “You uh comin to Carls party tonight?” Lip questioned leaning up against the tool box.
“Yeah I guess I am,” You said taking a drag off your cigarette.
“Good.” Lip said.
-
As you and Lip entered the Gallagher house you started to feel a little overwhelmed, because you knew that people were going to ask questions pertaining to you and Fiona’s relationship status.
You took a deep breath only exhaling till you made it halfway into the living room, Where everyone was dancing around with beers in their hands. You were just about to make a beeline for the kitchen, when Debbie stopped you rambling about some girl she’s been seeing.
You chuckled, “Debs I just got here let me grab a beer before you unload your girl drama on me.”
Debbie groaned going over to the couch where Franny was sitting picking her up. You watched her as she disappeared up the stairs a little relieved to not have to play gay therapist.
You made your way into the kitchen grabbing one of the beers from the box off the counter twisting the cap off and tossing it to the side. You leaned up against the counter watching everyone dance around. You scanned the living room your eyes landing on Fiona, you smiled to yourself when you saw what she was wearing.
She had on a long sleeved V neck showing off a lot of cleavage and those damn leather shorts she knew you loved. You were almost positive she was wearing them to get your attention. You watched as her and V danced to some pop song you didn’t recognize, you couldn’t take your eyes off her you let your eyes travel down her body.
You wanted nothing more than to pin her up against the wall and mark her neck with hickeys. You set your beer down about to give in to the temptation, or at least you were until you heard someone clear their throat beside you.
You turned your head to see Carl, you smiled at him relieved, “Sup birthday boy.”
“Sup,” He said giving you a fist bump.
“You get the gun I asked you for?” He questioned almost causing you to spit out your beer.
“Dude your sister would kill me.”
He sighed, “I’m seventeen, she’s always got a stick up her ass.”
You chuckled passing the boy a beer, “Not a gun, but it’s something.”
He twisted the top off clanking his beer bottle against yours, leaning beside you on the counter. You let your eyes wander back to the brunette you cannot seem to get off your mind. She was still dancing with V laughing at something crazy the woman probably said.
“You and Fiona back together?” Carl spoke up.
You jumped a little forgetting that the boy had been standing beside you. “Uh no it’s kind of complicated.”
He nodded, “Do you still love her?”
You turned to look at Carl shocked to be having this conversation with the boy. You remembered when he was just a little kid running around terrorizing neighborhood animals and lighting things on fire, but he wasn’t that little boy anymore.
“Of course I do, things are just rough right now.”
“The thing with Jimmy?” He questioned chucking a little.
“Yeah the thing with Jimmy.” You said the man’s name leaving a bitter taste in your mouth.
“One thing you gotta understand Jimmy is like a roach. You think he’s gone, but he always comes back and he’s hard to get rid of. Fiona loves you though and she fucked up there’s no denying that, but I really think you should talk to her. Let her know where you guys stand because it’s really eating her up. Plus it would suck to not have you around.” Carl said taking a quick swig out of his beer.
You smiled at the boy ruffling his hair, “Where’d all this wisdom come from?”
He swatted your hand away rolling his eyes, “Growin up in this house you learn a thing or two.”
You chuckled wrapping your arm around the boy.
“So since I possibly helped fix things with you and my sister?” The boy questioned.
“I’m not getting you a gun dude.” You said before he could even finish his sentence.
The younger Gallagher smacked his lips wiggling his way outta your grasp, “You guys fuckin suck.”
You shook your head as you watched the boy disappear back into the sea of people in the living room.
You stood there still debating on whether or not to go talk to Fiona. After about two more beers, and a shot you eventually worked up enough courage to go talk to her.
She was still standing with V her back turned. You inhaled deeply as you approached her. V looked at you then at Fiona causing the woman to turn around. Her eyes went wide when she saw you, almost like she was in shock.
“Hey,” Was the only thing you could think to say.
“Hey,” She said nervously.
“Can we talk?” You questioned.
“Outside?”
You nodded while following behind her.
The two of you stepped out back shutting the door behind you. You sat down on the steps as you turned to look at Fiona who followed your lead.
“You came.” She said breaking the awkward tension that was very noticeable.
“Told you I wouldn’t miss it,” You said keeping your gaze on your shoes.
“Guess you thought I’d bale?”
She chuckled, “I had my doubts.”
Before you knew it the awkward silence was back. You looked over at the woman for a split second before averting your gaze back to the ground. Your eyes landing on a twig, you picked it up tossing it into the distance.
“Look if you’re not gonna talk I’m going back inside,” Fiona spoke up lifting herself up off the steps.
“I love you, Ya know?” you said barely above a whisper.
Fiona froze, “I love you too.”
“Then why? Why did you kiss Jimmy, I thought this shit with him was over?”
“I don’t know,” She said running her hands through her hair.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” You said trying your hardest not to raise your voice.
“We have history. Okay?”
You shook your head trying really hard to control your temper, “Fi I have loved you from the moment I met you. I’ve been there through majority of your past relationships, Jimmy’s a dick, I don’t know why you always fall for his shit. Am I just not enough?”
“You’re more than enough.”
You stood up getting off the porch, you reached into your pocket pulling out a cigarette from your pack. You inhaled deeply then exhaled watching the smoke dissipate. Fiona stood up making her way over to where you were standing.
“I know I fucked up, but I don’t wanna lose you. You’re the only good thing I got goin in my life right now.”
You took another drag off your cigarette turning to look at her, you felt her icy hand rest on your cheek as she looked at you with those damn big brown eyes that have always been your weakness.
You grabbed both of her hands, “Your hands are freezing.”
“Everything on me is freezing right now,” She said moving her hands from yours. You felt her hands slide into your jacket pocket’s causing your breath to hitch as you realized just how close the two of you were.
“Fi,” You said as the gap between the two of you was on the verge of closing.
“Hmm?” She hummed.
“We shouldn’t,” You said as her lips grazed yours causing your brain to go into over drive.
Before you knew it your lips were on hers, you wrapped your hands around her hips pulling her closer. Her hands made there way to the button on your jeans.
You pulled away abruptly, “I can’t.”
She looked at you confused, “Why not?”
“Because I’d be doing the one thing I promised myself I wouldn’t.”
Fiona shook her head, “I’m going back inside and you know what? You can take your ass home. I’m done trying to show you that I really do love you and that I really do care about you. I’m trying to be a different person, I’m trying not to fuck things up with the one person who has actually been honest with me, that’s actually treated me like I matter.”
“Guess I fucked that up though.” Fiona mumbled turning around.
You stood there as you watched her make it up the first step, too busy battling with yourself to even try and stop her. You took one last drag off your cigarette discarding it onto the ground. Your eyes were still on Fiona, you watched as she made her way up the fourth step stopping in her tracks, she turned to look at you tears streaming down her face.
It made your heart ache and for spilt second nothing else mattered. Jimmy’s smug face didn’t matter, you telling yourself not give in didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered right now was Fiona.
“Damn it,” You mumbled jogging over to the porch.
As you made it to the fourth step Fiona threw her arms around your neck, you let your hands find their way to her waist.
“I really do love you,” Fiona whimpered.
“I know and I love you too.”
Fiona pulled away to look at you as you brought your thumb to her cheek wiping the tears that fell, before bringing your lips to her forehead.
“Does this mean we’re still together?” Fiona spoke up her tone slightly uncertain, but hopeful.
You took a deep breath bringing your hands back to her waist. A small smile creeping onto your lips as you looked at the woman in front of you.
“Yeah I guess it does.”
-
You awoke the next morning to the sunlight shining through the window practically blinding you, you yawned looking around the room that definitely wasn’t yours. Memories of the night before flashed through your mind.
You rolled over only to be inches away from Fiona’s face. You smiled to yourself as you listened to the sound of her light snoring bringing back a sense of comfort that you didn’t realize you needed. You brought your hand to her face moving some of her hair behind her ear causing her to stir around.
“Stop staring,” Fiona said her voice a little raspy.
“I can’t help it, I forgot just how hot you look in the morning.” You chuckled wrapping your arms around her waist.
She groaned bringing her head to rest on your chest, “You know as much as I’d love a round three, I’m still pretty exhausted from the other two rounds from last night.”
“Ah giving up are we, thought Gallaghers didn’t give up?” You joked causing Fiona to giggle.
“We don’t.” She yawned.
You chuckled bringing your lips to the crown of her head, “I love you.”
Fiona moved her head to look at you with a soft smile, “I love you too.”
You brought your hand to Fiona’s cheek running your thumb across her bottom lip, completely mesmerized by just how beautiful the woman truly looked in the morning, even with bed head and bags under her eyes she still looked like a dream.
You couldn’t even deny that you missed mornings like this because to you and Fiona nothing else mattered. It was just the two of you too wrapped up in your own little bubble to care about anything else.
“You don’t know how much I missed this, how much I missed us.” Fiona spoke up her voice filling the silence in the room.
Instead of saying anything you leaned in till your lips connected with hers. The kiss was slow, but passionate although it did begin to escalate from there. Before you knew it you were on top of Fiona as your lips trailed down her neck, you were half way under the covers when you felt Fiona’s body jolt.
“Damn it Carl!” She yelled angrily.
You took that as a sign to throw yourself on the other side of the bed making your way out from under the covers. You looked over at the boy who was standing in the door way with a smirk on his face.
“Dude knock next time,” Fiona sighed running her hand through her hair.
“This mean you guys are back together?” Carl chuckled which only irritated Fiona more.
“What do you want?” Fiona snapped.
“Frank’s in the kitchen trying to clean himself in the sink again,” his smiling fading to a look of disgust.
Fiona groaned, “You guys can’t deal with it?”
Carl shrugged before walking off.
You chuckled watching as Fiona stood up picking your black polo jacket up off the floor throwing it on.
“Fuckin Gallaghers,” she mumbled.
You shook your head as Fiona tossed you your t shirt, “Man I missed gettin cock blocked by your family.”
Fiona huffed looking over at you with a sour look on her face as she attempted to get her sweats on, “Meet you downstairs?”
“Yes ma’am,” you said bringing two fingers to your forehead saluting her.
Fiona rolled her eyes letting out a slight chuckle, “You’re such a fuckin dork.”
“But I’m your dork!” You shouted as the girl made her way out of the room flipping you the bird.
-
As you made your way down stairs you couldn’t help, but smile at the familiar sound of the Gallaghers bickering. That was one thing you never thought you’d miss, you made your way into the kitchen adjusting your jeans.
“There’s the woman of the hour!” Ian was the first to greet you lifting up his coffee cup like it was a beer.
You chuckled attempting to make your way over to the coffee pot as you watched Fiona swat Frank with a news paper.
“So I guess you two made up?” You turned your head to see Lip who was coming down the stairs with a cigarette dangling between his lips.
You were about to answer the man until Carl beat you to it, “I heard them fuckin makin up all night last night.”
You nearly spit out your coffee at the boys comment.
“Yeah you guys are loud,” Debbie chimed in picking up Franny sitting her at the kitchen table.
“Alright enough,” Fiona said walking over to where you were standing as you pulled her into your side.
“Don’t you guys got somewhere to be?”
“Why got some more makin up to do?” Carl joked causing the other Gallaghers to burst into a fit of laughter.
“Bet you didn’t miss this?” Fiona said gesturing to all the chaos going on around you.
You turned your head to look at the woman, “Believe or not I actually did.”
Fiona chuckled shaking your her head, “How did I get so lucky?”
“I’m the lucky one,” You said pulling her closer to you kissing the crown of her head.
In that moment you felt like you were home because to you Fiona was your home and you were hers.

lip Gallagher x girlfriend OC (Delilah) summary: in which lip and delilah give fiona a break and have the kids to themselves  or in which debbie and delilah get some 'sister' time
■□■□■□■━■━■□■□■□■

"Ok, Bottles are in the cupboard, formula and milk are in the fridge, but Lip knows all that," Fiona informs Lip's girlfriend, showing her where everything is as if she hadn't been dating Lip and coming over to the house for 7 months now.
Today Fiona was stepping out of her comfort zone by spending the night away with her boyfriend, Jimmy/Steve. Jimmy/Steve had somehow managed to book a room at The Langham Hotel, meaning that Lip was now in charge of babysitting his younger siblings, minus Ian as he was having a sleepover with 'Mandy'. She had done it once before Lip and Delilah were dating, but that ended in Frank having to fake his death. So Fiona had managed to convince herself that everything would go to shit if she left for another night. It took a lot of convincing from all the kids, Kev, V and Jimmy/Steve to convince Fiona to go, let alone leave them with Liam alone. So she compromised, she would leave Lip in charge, if, his girlfriend Delilah helped out, because in her words "She will actually keep some order in this house."
"Lay off my girlfriend Fi," Lip sighs trekking down the stairs to the kitchen, having already gone through the same lecture, twice, hours earlier, "It's not like she's not been here a million times, besides she's better with Liam than any of us."
Fiona sighed and placed the bottle she had picked up back in the cupboard before rubbing her forehead, "I know, I know it's just last time everything went down with Frank and-"
"-and that's different to any other day how?" Lip asks, standing next to his girlfriend, placing his arm around her shoulders, Delilah nudging him slightly giving a look that tells him to listen to his older sister.
"Just, don't let the house burn down, don't let Frank in but I doubt he'll show up, uh what else, oh you two," She suddenly snapped pointing a finger between the two of them causing them to raise their eyebrows in surprise, not expecting the sudden change in attitude.
"The moment I exit the house you two are "working", you're not hanging out, not on a date, your focus is on the kids, so no funny business."
Lip opens his mouth to say something but is interrupted by Fiona pointing at him once again, "Including after they fall asleep," she snaps, Lip's mouth promptly shutting.
"Don't worry Fiona, I'll keep everything together." Delilah smiled at her, causing the older girl to give her a grateful smile.
"Yeah besides we're going to have a fun time, won't we buddy?" Lip asks picking up Liam from his place on the sofa, making funny faces at him, "Oh and you mean we'll keep everything together?" Lip asked, looking at Delilah expectantly.
"I meant what I said," Delilah teased, leaving no room for Lip to argue as Jimmy/Steve enters through the front door and makes his way to the trio.
"Hey ready to go?" He asks Fiona, wrapping an arm around her waist.
"I just-"
"She's ready," Both Lip and Delilah answer at the same time, knowing that Fiona was just going to try and stall for longer.
"Great, let's go," Jimmy/Steve smiles at her, slowly guiding her out of the house as she continued to call out orders to the two teenagers.
"Lip, don't do anything Delilah wouldn't do! If I come back and everything has gone to shit I swear I will-" She didn't get to finish her threat however as the sound of the door shutting cut her off.
Lip and Delilah looked at each other for a few seconds, waiting to see who would suggest what to do first, this was new to the two of them, normally, when they hung out together, there was a goal or purpose; just being in each others company, Homework, Sex. Sure they had a purpose, babysitting, but what are you supposed to do when none of the children need anything?
"Movie?"
"Sure,"
The two of them swiftly make their way over to the living room, Delilah grabbing a blanket and sitting on the couch, settling Liam next to her, Lip flipping through the selection of DVDs the Gallaghers owned. The Gallaghers had a few really good selections of films, the only issue was Delilah and Lip could never agree on what to watch.
"Uh we got, insidious, Top Gun, IT-"
"You're just picking the ones you want to watch!"
"Ok, you pick something out then,"
"Mean Girls" She answers picking up the movie with no hesitation and starting to open it before Lip snatched it out of her hands.
"No way that movie's shit!"
"Oh yeah, how do you know that? Seen it before?"
"Beyond the point! Look I just don't see what's so entertaining about watching dumb teenagers talk about how big their hair is," Lip argued back, smirking at her slightly.
"Yeah well if we watched a horror film there's the risk of the kids coming down and traumatising themselves! Not to mention Liam is right here!" Delilah argues back, not wanting to risk the wrath of Fiona the following morning if she finds out that Debbie and Carl are all of a sudden too scared to fall asleep.
"Ok fine, you pick, anything but mean girls," Lip groans, taking a seat back on the couch, swiftly joined by Delilah.
"Tangled,"
"That's a kids film,"
"Harry Potter!"
"I've watched that series with you three times now!"
"Angus, thongs and perfect snogging!"
"Take out Angus and that's my kind of night,"
"Bullet Train!"
"And listen to you drool over Aaron Taylor Johnson for two and a half hours again, no thanks,"
"Why don't we watch the next episode of blue planet? Everyone likes that!"
"Yeah I guess, let's just watch that," Lip sighed, turning on the most recent episode of blue plant the family had recorded. The Gallaghers, Kev and Veronica, Jimmy/Steve and Delilah often watched different shows together, having episodes upon episodes of the different shows they watched recorded, however, it wasn't uncommon for Delilah and Lip to be an episode ahead of the rest, often watching the next episode in secret when no one's around.
Lip and Delilah settled down next to each other, huddling up for warmth, Liam's head resting across Delilah's lap, as David Attenborough's calming voice introduced them to the wonders of the world's oceans.
They watched in silence as a fish miraculously jumped out of the water and grabbed a bird midflight when from nowhere Debbie and Carl appeared in front of the TV.
"What the hell get out of the way, it was getting good!" Lip called out in frustration, pausing the show the couple was undoubtedly fascinated by.
"We're bored," Debbie says matter-of-factly, placing her hands on her hips.
"So? Entertain yourselves," Lip says, leaning back convinced that that simple sentence solved all their problems.
"You're the babysitters, you're supposed to entertain us," Carl argues back.
"Well, what do you guys want to do?" Delilah asks, sitting up so she could see them properly past Lip.
"I want some girl time with Delilah," Debbie says smiling smugly at Lip, knowing she would be ruining the alone time he hoped to have with his girlfriend.
"Ok, I'll go with Debbie, and you entertain Carl and Liam," Delilah announces standing from the couch, patting Lip's shoulder, and making her way towards the stairs with Debbie swiftly following her.
"Wait, what!?" Lip exclaims, turning towards her, holding his arms out slightly, shocked by how willing Delilah was to listen to the demands of some 12 and 10-year-olds.
"We're here to babysit Lip, this is part of the job," Delilah shrugged before walking up the stairs, Debbie in tow, and walking to the room the younger girl shared with Liam.
"So, what do you want to do Debs?" Delilah asked, sitting on the girl's bed, noticing how hard the mattress was.
"I don't know, girl stuff and girl talk,"
"Girl stuff and girl talk?" Delilah smiles amused by the younger girl.
"Yeah, Fiona's busy and so I try not to bother her with girly talks, besides Fiona is a lot...rougher than you, and you're closer to my age! And you're not a Gallagher, I think it would be good to get an outside opinion," Debbie declares.
Delilah chuckled at the young girl, "Ok where do you want to start?"
Delilah watched as the younger girl made her way over to one of her shelves picked out a CD and swiftly put it into a pink CD player, which Delilah and Lip had gotten her for her birthday, the sound of Madonna's; Like a Virgin coming from it, causing Delilah to smile a little as she had been the one to introduce Debbie to 80s music.
"Hmm, wait here," Debbie swiftly made her way out and into the hall, leaving the older girl alone, Delilah let out a long breath as she waited, pulling a confused face as she heard the sounds of drawers opening and slamming shut.
Before she could call out to Debbie, the redhead strutted back into the room with a small vial and a little bag in her hand.
"Nails and makeup," Debbie said, putting a vial of baby pink nail varnish and Fiona's make-up bag on her bed.
"Debs," Delilah sighed, "This is Fiona's stuff we really shouldn't do this,"
"I'll take it all off before we go to bed! And Fiona will probably assume the nail varnish is yours 'cause you wear this colour all the time," Debbie reasons. Delilah puts her head down, noticing that she was, in fact, wearing the same baby pink nail varnish at that moment.
"Ok, ok, let's start with the nail varnish then," Delilah smilies, picking up the vial and shaking it, before taking Debbie's left hand and starting to paint her nails, the two girls sat in silence for a few moments.
"Do boys ever stop being gross and annoying?" Debbie asks out of nowhere, as Delilah finished off her left hand, painting the pinky finger and taking the other hand.
Delilah laughs and shakes her head, "Nope, never will, but you come to realise that girls are just as annoying as boys just in different ways, so one day, you'll find a boy or girl who's annoying compliments your annoying. Can't do much about the grossness though."
"Ugh, can't boys just be...better?"
"You come to realise as you get older Debbie, not everyone is perfect, you learn to tolerate the bad things, and love the good things, but if the bad things really bother you, then, if that person can't change it, they're not right for you."
"How do you know someone's right? How did you know my brother was the right one for you?"
Delilah thought for a moment holding two different shades of blush towards Debbie's face, deciding the lighter of the two was more her colour, before beginning to apply some and answering the younger girl's question, "When he blocked Karen's number,"
"I never really liked Karen."
"You wouldn't be the only one,"
"Why did that do it?"
"At that point, we had been dating for around three months, and although he had been nothing but amazing, because of his past with Karen and Mandy, I had my doubts, and I'll admit, I was prepared for something to go wrong," Delilah admits. "I remember Mandy breaking up with Lip cause he was still in love with Karen, so throughout the first three months I was just looking for signs he still loved her because I just felt immensely insecure about my place in the relationship-"
"Wait what?! You? Insecure?"
"Oh yeah! I was so insecure, still am sometimes, I thought I was a huge downgrade, I wasn't as exciting as Mandy or Karen in...ways that you don't need to know. And so I thought he would get bored pretty quick and go back to Karen. And then one day while we were hanging out, his phone started ringing and it was Karen, and I was so prepared for him to drop everything and go running to her, I guess that showed on my face because, Lip looked at me, declined the call and deleted her number, nothing else had to be said, he told me everything I needed to know through his actions. It doesn't sound like much but, I know how much he cared for her so, it meant a lot to me, " Delilah retold, smiling thoughtfully.
"I hope my future relationship is like yours and Lips,"
"Thanks, Debs," Delilah smiled, moving on to apply a light shade of red lipstick to Debbies's lips.
"How did you and Lip even meet? I just remember you slowly spending more and more time here and I never really questioned it." Debbie asked, trying not to move her mouth too much.
"To be honest, I don't really know how it happened either, we sat next to each other in English for Sophmore and Junior year, but never spoke unless it was work-related, we only started talking as friends when Mandy and I got close, I'll be honest, we were so different we didn't like each other, but the more time we spent together, the closer friends we became and, I don't know, here we are." Delilah reminisced, brushing Debbies's hair and putting them into two neat plaits, which is how Debbie liked to wear her hair at night.
"What's going to happen when you guys go off to college? You're not going to the same one,"
"Well, we'll cross that bridge when we reach it, listen Debs if you have one foot in the future and one in the past, it means you're pissing on today,"
"What?"
"Basically don't worry about what's to come and what's going to happen, live in the moment Debs you'll be happier that way, and right now, what you have to do is get to bed, it's 9:30."
"What no!" Debbie complained.
"Sorry Debs, Fionas orders, now, go take a look in the bathroom mirror, brush your teeth, get the make-up off, and get ready for bed, I'll put away Fiona's stuff," Delilah says, packing away the makeup as Debbie agrees, trudging out of the room, saying a quick thank you on her way out.
"Tell you what," Delilah says, "Next Saturday, you and I head off to the mall together, go to all your favourite shops, and we can play mine and Mandy's favourite game, we pick a clothes store and pick out clothes for the other person without showing them and we have to try them on."
"Really?!"
"Really!"
"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!" Debbie repeats, hugging the older girl before running back out of the room to get ready for bed.
Delilah chuckled at the younger girl's actions, turning off the CD player, before grabbing all of Fiona's stuff and bringing it into Fiona's room, managing to step on one of Liam's squeaky toys, which she was positive was actually a dog toy, on her way.
As she exited Fiona's room, she was greeted by a very unimpressed, dishevelled-looking Lip, his hair was all over the place, parts  of his white tank top were ripped, and he had an already sleeping Liam on his hip, "What happened to you?" Delilah tried not to laugh.
"Turns out Carl's idea of fun is hunting me down with his Nerf gun, and when I asked how I'm supposed to defend myself, the little shit laughed at me - Don't you start!" He accuses her, noticing her face contorting slightly as she attempts to hide her laughter.
"Sorry, just didn't think you'd get the shit beat out of you by a 10-year-old," Delilah teases, taking Liam from Lip, pushing past him and going back into Debbie's room. Lip rolled his eyes rather and went in the opposite direction to his own room to make sure Carl went to bed.
Delilah gently put Liam in his crib, before turning and watching as Debbie tucked herself into bed, "Goodnight Debs," She said, turning the light off as she made her way out of the room.
"Goodnight," She hears in reply as she shuts the door, Lip shuts the door to his room at the same time, walking over to join her.
He was about to open his mouth to say something, but Delilah raise her hand, noticing the bottom of Debbie's door was illuminating a small pool of light.
"Debbie no reading under the covers, you know the rules," She calls out, the light immediately vanishes as Debbie turns her torch off, listening to the older girl. Delilah smiles smugly at Lip, causing him to roll his eyes at her, but he didn't try to hide the smile on his face.
"You're good with them,"
"I know. So tell me," Delilah starts, heading down the nearest staircase to make her way back to the living room, being followed by her boyfriend, "How did you allow yourself to get chased around by a child?"
"Ok I did not 'allow myself' I was taken by surprise, I watch you go after Debs and when I turned back around the little shit was pointing the fucking thing in my face, so I did what most people would do if they had a gun pointed at them, I ran!"
"And what was Liam doing during all this?" Delilah asked as she sat back in her original spot on the sofa, Lip sitting a few moments after her, putting his arm around her.
"Little fucker just sat and laughed the whole time." Lip grumbled, looking back at his girlfriend, whose mouth was twitching slightly, "Don't even,"
"I'm not saying anything!"
"Yeah well, how you feel about that is written all over your face, you're an open book love," Lip states, reaching forwards slightly to grab the remote to the TV, unpausing the show to continue where they left off.
"Am not!"
"Whatever you say, babe, whatever you say,"
Delilah rolled her eyes at her boyfriend before snuggling up to him so that they were both more comfortable. As the night drew on the teenager's eyes slowly drooped as they both fell asleep in each other's arms, which their backs would hate them for tomorrow, as the lumpiness of the sofa would for sure cause them some aches, not that they cared right now though, they were far to content and tired to care about that.
After a relaxing night, even though some lingering worry stayed in the back of her mind, Fiona returned home in the early hours of the next morning to find the house not in complete chaos, but instead, the two teenagers still snuggled up close to one another, the TV now playing some random news channel in the background.
The sight of the two teenagers made the older sister smile, it was rare to see the two of them so relaxed, considering they were often stressed with either work, school or job-wise, chores or general teenage stress. This was the most relaxed she had seen the two of them in a while, which surprised her, as she thought the kids would have made them reconsider all of their life choices by now.
"You did good guys," she whispered, as she slipped one envelope into Lip's favourite hoodie, which was hanging off the side of the couch, and one into Delilah's jacket, which was hanging up on the coat hanger, each one containing $25 for their efforts.
They deserve it.

I wanna talk for a second about Fiona and JimmySteve, and I want to compare them to Gallavich
They have a lot of similarities:
Fiona loved him more than she'll ever love anyone, and I think Jimmy's the same. Just like Ian and Mickey.
Obviously, the whole on and off thing, since both couples had one of them leave and come back again and again.
I think with both Ian and Fiona, their partners outside of jimmy or Mickey are always characters which relate to Jimmy or Mickey. That's weirdly phrased, but I think it's more like both Ian and Fiona would be like 'oh, Mickey used to say stuff like that' or 'Jimmy kissed better'. Like their other relationships are almost a consequence or comparison of their main love.
Both couples also have a hell of a lot of chemistry.
However, they're also so very, very different.
Ian and Mickey are an example of loving someone an insane amount and, against all odds, it works.
Fiona and JimmySteve are an example of loving someone an insane amount and it not working.
Fiona and JimmySteve are a tragic trope; they'll never work. I don't think Fiona goes back to him after she leaves. I hope she finds someone else who she loves, perhaps not as much, because loving someone that much is hard and a little destructive.
Ian and Mickey are not tragic. Their storyline is, but they can't be tragic because they will always work out. They can't stay away from each other. Magnets.
There is certain completed element of Fiona and JimmySteve's goodbye, which every single Gallavich goodbye lacked. Even Mexico, when logically they both knew there was no chance of getting back together (because Mick would eventually come out of prison, ruling the season 1,2 and 6 goodbyes out), lacks a completedness. There's no goodbye, just an 'I love you - fuck you' which almost says 'I'll see you soon.'
Fiona and JimmySteve say goodbye. He tells her he loves her, much like Ian did, but she still needs something else. They could have been together, nothing was keeping them apart that time. (Aside from his compulsive lying - but this is about the couple and not about Jimmy).
They were an example of people falling in love with the wrong person. Love doesn't mean it works. They weren't right for each other, and I think that's one of the saddest things. Just because they loved each other, does not mean they can be together. Sometimes love does not conquer all.
Ian and Mickey are different. They fell in love with the right person, they almost moulded themselves to fit each other better. The reason they stayed apart so long was mostly due to circumstance - which you can argue for Fiona and JS too, but most of their problems could be solved with communication. Half the time I watched Fiona and JS, I felt like they were speaking two different languages. They couldn't understand each other, couldn't hear each other. It's really hard, I think, when you love someone so much, but you just don't fit right. They didn't love each other right.
("Why don't you go cry to your gay dad about it?" "Living in a goddamn slum" "I trust you - that means more to me" "I love you - I think I need something else now" "You need to let me go, you need to let me let you go")
I've always felt like Gallavich were on the same wavelength, they understood each other.
("You love me, and you're gay." "You're sick." "You're so much better than that." "I understand better than anyone: you're afraid of your father, you're afraid of your wife, you're afraid to be who you are." "I love you - What the hell does that even mean? - It means we take care of each other" "I love you, Mickey Milkovich, and if you'll let me, I'd like to spend the rest of my life - Jesus Christ save the fucking speech you pussy.") See, they get each other.
There's a lot to be said about their miscommunication as well, but they clearly get each other, in a way that Fiona and JimmySteve don't. It's like puzzle pieces. Ian and Mickey's pieces fit together, even if there were external forces keeping them apart. Sure, it may not be a perfect fit, but what is in humanity? There's so much beauty in imperfection. Fiona's and Jimmy Steve's pieces didn't fit. There were giant gaps where there shouldn't have been - such as JS's lying problem and Fiona's inability to feel empathy for anything he went through. Have you ever got so frustrated with a puzzle you just try and shove two pieces together so hard because you just want them together so bad? Maybe they'd look better in the puzzle if they went together. No matter how hard you try, they won't fit.
It just doesn't work, and that's so hard to accept. That sometimes, it just does not work.
I thought about this because of the sound trending on TikTok from Ocean's 11.
"Does he make you laugh?"
"He doesn't make me cry."
Anyway, rant over. Again, I'm not talking about the actions of JS or Fiona individually in this, those are whole different essays and I don't like JS enough to rewatch all his scenes and put one together for him. I think I've done one on Fiona though, but my feelings towards her are complicated. I'm talking about them as a couple.
Also, I'm not saying JimmySteve is anything like Mickey, or Fiona is like Ian.
Sorry for the deep stuff, I didn't think this would get so heavy.
