The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.
#also idk how to tell you this but even if it were true. wealthy children potentially sacrificing their educational careers to protest is#a good thing actually. idk how to tell you that caring about people from other nations is good#personal#“this war has nothing to do with most students cuz nobody's getting drafted” idk how to explain to you that we should be angry#that our tuitions of 10s of thousands of dollars that we pay every year for an education is being used to fund a genocidal campaign#also the implication that if you go to a uni institution you are automatically privileged by participation no matter your bg#i didn't /want/ to go to this school. i was supposed to go to a school with an art/animation program. but i realized my immigrant#parents have been working their whole lives to get me here. and turning the opportunity down would be a disservice to their sacrifice#this is getting into convos of “what 2nd gen kids owe their parents” which is different for everyone but. yeah#i just get pissed off at seeing people misrepresenting student bodies as “wealthy” and “privileged” and “elite” when it's such a blatant li#i remember a year ago a friend told me they can't fly home to hong kong for winter break because the plane tickets are too expensive#so they have to find temporary housing around the area#last quarter for a film doc class my film partner made a doc on a small group of marxist grad students from india discussing praxis#during a rally a few months ago in response to police presence the coalition invited palestinian students to speak about their experiences#and lead songs and read poems they wrote. these are STUDENTS. are they elitist too?#this is not to disregard my own personal privilege either.#this whole narrative's just to rationalize a lack of empathy to me. seeing a 19yo student get shot by a rubber bullet and your first#reaction is “HAW! HAW! bet richy rich didn't see THAT coming when she put on her terrorist hood!”#newsflash. these big uni campuses are HAUNTED by the violence of past protests and revolutions and police brutality. we know.#why do you think these coalitions have been making reinforced barricades at record speed

House M.D. but it's when a character says the name of the episode
#house md#prince's talk tag#flashing#repitition#so as i was watching this show i noticed they'd say the episode title in the episode#so i wanted to see how many times they did it#the people on livejournal who made transcripts of the episodes are my saviors and without them this would of been so much harder to do#thank you all for your service and i hope wherever you all are you're having a great day#sometimes they would use a variation of the word like in the episode poison they would say 'poisoned' or 'poisoning'#i did not include those instances#there was an instance in 'merry little christmas' where they do play the song in the show#but since ella fitzgerald was not a character in the show i did not include it#where as in the episode 'joy to the world' the students are singing it in the concert so i did include that#i apologize for the tonal whiplash when you get to that part but it did make me laugh#one of the times kutner says 'locked in' is overshadowed by the POTW's voice over but i assure you he says it and thats why its in there#out of the main characters from the one who said the title the most to least are#House > Foreman > Wilson > Chase > Cuddy > Adams > Cameron and Taub > Kutner > Thirteen and Park#this took a bit to do lolol its probably been done already but i wanted my own#there is a chance im missing some on technicalities but idc. im fine with this#there are two more i wanna do but with a character saying another character's name but ill do that some other time#EDIT: When I was making this video I was unaware that the Pilot episode went by two names: 'Pilot' and 'Everybody Lies'#Basically everywhere I looked the first episode was only referred to by 'Pilot'#which I found weird bc i remember seeing somewhere that the last episode was paired with the first episode in terms of title#but i couldn't find hard proof so I decided to leave it out at the time#well i checked again last night and yea the pilot IS also called Everybody Lies so I updated the video#I also think it goes well with the fact that House does say 'Everybody Dies' in the finale so another reason to fix it#AND he says it without Wilson while he and Wilson say the title of the pilot sooooo yea hehehehehe

For that AU where Byleth runs the local church in a college-y town and Sothis is always hovering over him. He can see her when inside the church but he can always hear her even when out of the church (kinda like how she'll talk to him in game but you'll see her in Byleth's room specifically).

I've been thinking about Nika and Norea's various "talks" over the course of the last three episodes, and specifically about the point where Norea goes "you didn't think you were going to get to go to Asticassia for free, did you?" to Nika when Nika objects to being involved in whatever it is they're planning. And, frankly, Norea is wrong here. Nika has been doing quite a lot for Dawn of Fold, the attack on Plant Quetta was largely possible thanks to her and presumably she'd been helping out in other ways over the last three years she's been at the school. But, aside from that, Nika is also in a position of incredible danger here at this school. We saw what happened when Martin reported her, in episode 15 we see what happens when Spacians figure out where Dawn of Fold is located. Nika has been in danger of being arrested, dying or worse every single day she'd been at Asticassia for the last three years.

I’m so tired.
#how do people make friends as adults#like I’ve been at uni 3 years#I’ve joined clubs#gone to events with people#cooked dinners and had takeaways sat in the living room#and yet somehow always seem to be an after thought#I’m literally a week away from handing in my dissertation with lots of work today#and the housing situation here sucks#and two people who I’ve been talking to about housing#who know how badly it all sucks#have put in for a flat of their own without saying anything#and I get it#it’s not really a shock cause like they’re a couple that can get a 1 bed and split the cost#they’ve been together 18 months#but I’m not even worth the talk apparently.#is it me is there something fundamentally wrong with my ability to make friends#or am I just really crap at picking people out#and like. they’re not awful people don’t get me wrong#but I also reckon if I went home from here for an extended period of time.#or left after uni#I’d never see any of them again#and apparently I feel badly enough about it all that I need to shout into the void here.#something that I do not do at all#but I have no idea what I’m doing now and finding somewhere new to live that is walkable to the uni is really difficult cause#for a uni town they sure don’t like students in any of their properties#I have so much work to do I should not be worrying about any of this right now#but I’d like to just play the switch instead and forget about this project or other people for a while#and I can’t cause this is due in on Wednesday and there’s still lots to do#and I can’t even complain about it to anyone cause they all talk to each other#a little circle of gossip that just goes round and round

Before anything else, I have to take a moment to celebrate the reveal of the remaining two tracks. Heck yeah!!
Since Viney is wearing a dark blue outfit in her flashback, I’m guessing that the “healing” track is the dark blue one. Wow, I was way off on that one! With this new knowledge, I imagine that the strips of fabric shown in the coven’s symbol and the banner earlier in this episode are actually bandages. That’s a neat little detail! And it definitely makes sense that healing would be considered an important enough ability to be the focus of one of the main 9 covens. I was sort of wondering how healing magic might factor into all this, and now I know.
Meanwhile, I’d hazard a guess that the “beast keeping” track is probably the orange one, given what’s been shown about it up until now. It seems the pig creatures that represent that particular coven aren’t the only beasts that can be kept by witches in this track, which leaves me wondering how many other beasts there are...
And now, onto the real focus of this bit!
I think it’s interesting that each of these magic combinations are reflected by Luz and her friends in some way. While Willow wasn’t exactly happy in the abomination track, she’s been in both the abomination and plant magic tracks, and Luz herself just tried to use oracle magic while in the potions track. Plus, the two classes she mentioned to Principal Bump earlier were most likely from the beast keeping and healing tracks respectively.
That aside, this sheds quite a bit of light on what Principal Bump said previously. “No witch” studies more than one track not because it’s impossible, but because no witch is allowed to. Students are punished for innovation (though to be fair these guys did make a bit of a mess in the process) and for thinking outside of the neat little boxes that each track pushes them into.
It’s a natural extension of the coven system; if students aren’t restricted to a single track from the beginning, they might not take as easily to being restricted to a single coven. But those who are different and those who want to do things differently will always find a way to get around the rules, regardless of how strictly they’re enforced.
