Just a fluffy lil thing about getting this grumpasaurus out of his shell. No pronouns used for reader.

Frank Castle doesn't dance.

Well, not since he lost his wife, anyway. He made a silent vow to himself that he'd never slow dance with another, because Lisa was his last dance partner.

He was content to just sit at the bar and sip his beer, but little did he know, he was being watched. You had been eyeing the handsome stranger sitting alone all night. There was no wedding ring in sight, and he didn't seem too social, so you figured he was drinking to forget someone or something. You decided that your night's mission was to make this man smile, so you bellied up to the bar and sat on the empty bar stool next to him.

"This seat taken handsome?"

Frank took another swig of his beer and replied, "Looks like it is now."

He was gonna be a tough nut to crack, but you liked a challenge.

"So, drinking alone? Hard day or broken heart?"

"You don't waste any time do you?" he asked without breaking his gaze at the TV behind the bar.

"Well, when I see something I want, I go get it," you smirked.

He finally turned around to face you, and you felt like he was staring into your soul.

"Is that right? I guess you don't take no for an answer, either."

"Nope," you made sure to put emphasis on the "ope".

You sat in silence for a moment, then one of your favorite songs came on. A waltz-y country ballad that was perfect for slow dancing, and your perfect chance to put a smile on this stranger's face.

"Oh, I LOVE this song," you exclaimed. “Will you dance with me? Please, pretty please!”

"What are the chances of you leaving me alone if I don't?

"Hmmmm, pretty much zero."

You hopped off the bar stool and held your hand out to him to invite him to dance. Frank shook his head and laughed, then stood up to accept your invitation. Mission accomplished.

He led you to the dance floor and put his hands on your waist, while you put your hands around his neck. The two of you started to sway back and forth to the music, and Frank smiled even wider.

"So, what's your name, cowboy?"

"Frank. My name is Frank."

Americans who can name all 50 states off the top of their head, especially if they can only do it in alphabetical order, are not necessarily geography nerds and/or overly patriotic.

It’s that there was this catchy as fuck song that they taught us as children and now it lives inside us.

If they put a little “doo doo doo” between Connecticut and Delaware you really know that’s the reason.

I miss TASM Peter. I mean, look at him!

Peter was always a great sport when it came to tolerating your favorite romance movies. However, he got more invested in About Time than you thought he would. He was fascinated by the idea of time travel, and he kept talking your ear off about physics, the quantum realm, and other science-y stuff that you had no clue about. It was honestly kind of cute how animated he was about the whole thing, but his droning on eventually put you to sleep.

You started to snore softly against his chest, and he couldn't help but smile. He thought you looked so adorable and peaceful fast asleep tucked under his chin, so he just pulled the blanket around you in an effort to make you more comfortable and not disturb you. He gently kissed your head and whispered into your hair, "As long as I'm with you, there's nowhere else I'd rather be. Here, now, and forever."
