Sometimes I feel like fictionkind are like a completely different community from the more well known otherkin and therians that are often viewed as more serious

I’m a dumb silly guy but my identity shouldn’t be painted in the same way. It’s like I have to act all stoic and contribute something to the group if I want my fictionhood to be taken seriously

My identity is alterhuman and I hate that I have to fight tooth and nail for that to be seen by the community

Hi, hello! if you didn't know my names Luka and ive been awakened for a year.

EDIT: I would specifically like help with creating the wiki cuz im kinda dumb

I believe i would have figured myself out sooner if there was a comprehensive wiki or dictionary for nonhumans. Ive seen alot of confusion and misinformation and its upset me.

I had to do so much reaserch to figure myself out and i pride myself in trying to educate or explain nonhuman terms and identoties to others, but its hard to do when there is not a solid place to find all of thsi information.

So thats all to say..I have had this idea for a while and would like to start trying to make a Functional wiki for nonhumans. One thats neatly organized and where the explanations are easier to understand. But im just one creature and i dont even know how to start a wiki by myself.. sooooo

I have a question for otherkin/fictionkin/therian/alterhuman/nonhuman communities. I’m still pretty new in my understanding of these terms and I was wondering how does an individual find out their nonhuman identity? I understand that one may find their non-human identity through spirituality or psychological experiences. I want to better understand that though, more so the psychological side.

For example, would a dog-kin person identify as a dog because they feel like they have a special connection to dogs? Could one identify themselves as non-human but also not believe in the literal soul or any spiritual beliefs?

(Like let’s say one identifies as a dog because they feel like their “soul” is a dog but also not believe in the belief of a soul?)

I’ve seen a few people compare their non-human dysphoria(?) as similar to gender dysphoria and/or uses gender dysphoria as an example to better explain their non-human dysphoria. (I know non-human identities have nothing to do with gender, unless they specify) I can understand specific things to a point but I’m curious for the other experiences and reasons might one identify as non-human.

How does one know that they have multiple non-human identities? How does one find out they have mythical identity such as a dragon? How does one find out they’re fictionkin? Do some individuals with vague feelings and connection to a nonhuman identity label themselves as otherkin even if they don’t have experiences such as non-human “dysphoria” or experience phantom attributes like wings, horns, etc? Could an individual who doesn’t believe in souls, still manage to identify as non-human because they feel like they’re non-human in their “soul” despite them not actually believing in the soul? Do non-human’s try out labels to discover what feels right? Even if the individual feels non-human but can’t figure out which non-human identities/identity they are? Do some non-humans identify as non-human because that individual strongly desires to be non-human?

I hope this makes sense. I know that the terms I listed above have different meanings. Like how otherkin can include mythical creatures while theiran does not include mythical creatures.

Also, one last thing. What are aldern-(insert identity here) identities? What’s otherhearted? Thanks for reading.

i feel like theres a sort of double standard in this community and alot of other ones aswell

specifically on how your sposed to look/act if ur nonhuman

like for me i feel like im not good enough to be a nonhuman cuz i cant do quads properly or for a long time cuz im physically disabled,and then i start hating on myself again like "why cant i just be normal?".

and for the longest time i thought "this is just a me thing whats wrong with me" but more and more ive been noticing a pattern of groups of beings feeling alienated.

from what ive seen theres a sorta if your white, able bodied, skinny and have a nice aesthetic your totally valid and welcomed here vibe in the online nonhuman community(now this is a problem in most communities not just this one) and that makes me sad

for a community that focuses alot on being yourself there seems to be a unspoken thing about what you have to be like to be ACTUALLY nonhuman.

I think I narrowed myself down to 2 different species of owl!

While I'm not an owl therian, I am fictionkin of an owl demon. I dont think I'm solely one type of owl, but rather some hell-created owl-demon species. However, I have been wondering what species I'm based off of or inspired by. So, here's my theories!

First up is the Sooty owl:

I've known about these guys for a long time, and they're especially close to my heart because they live in my hearthome, Papua New Guinea! They strike me as a potential lead, not just because of their white faces and black bodies, but the white speckles all acorss their bodies. They remind me of the stars, which are very important to me as Stolace. I feel my true home is in the stars with Via, and if we die, we'll be reunited there. Because of that, it just feels right that I'm one of these guys.

My other lead is the African Grass Owl:

I think this one might be a bit more likely due to the fact that this species is unusually tall, and they have that speckled chest and stomach fluff. If you've seen me in a fancy outfit or with my old hat, you've probably seen the black-and-white speckled feathers on it, which looks just like this one. Also, If you look closely at the eyes, you can see the dark patches under them that resemble the same ones I have. Overall, I think this species just looks a lot more like me than the sooty owl, though I don't have that same connection to them.

At the end of the day, I'm just a hellborn (Goetian) demon with no genes from earthborn owls, so I'm not really either of them! But, I do like the idea that I'm a parallel of an earthen owl species, so this was fun to do :>
