ffxiv rak'tika 2, fannow

bunnies! I was just thinking this whole forbidden forest thing seemed like a mix of shroud and the greenwood. I might be remembering this wrong but those guarding yx'maja are the descendants of the ronka empire? the seal identifies us as allies to ronka. side note: if the ronka really are maya/central american inspired then is yx'maja pronounced ish maia (the jp voiceover pronounces the j is like y/i anyways). oh wait this was viera/vii introduction in ffxiv. I was wondering why they were shilling money on animation.

whats interesting is that for most races the npcs tend to have realistic hair colors. like most of the hyur in eorzea have brown hair with some black, blond, or red. only the rare hyur will have like blue hair which makes me think it's dyed. but the vii in fannow have cotton candy hair colors. also they seem to mostly be using the veena models

we don't know all that much about viera on the source. but as with all things it'd interesting what changes and what stays the same. For example on the first the ban on returning viera/vii seems to be less than in other iterations (ivalice), the vii also seem in general more tolerant of outsiders. across all iterations viera society seem to heavily focus around duty. what's interesting is that for vii that duty is external, like I remember some dialogue said viis aren't native to raktika, something like "when they came to the forest the ronkan king enlisted them as palace guards" where as on the source and in other games viera duty to the Wood is internally derived from their culture and spirituality as natives. the ronkan gods were also likely adopted when the viera integrated into ronkan society which is very different from their isolationist culture in other games.

Going through the fannow section was pretty interesting while playing a male viera. (The ONE singular male vii reference ina side quest). I found the twins sidequest chain to be particularly interesting because fannow is less prohibitive and strict than viera in other games (ff tactics, ffxii, etc.). Where fannow is neither kill on sight for any who step into the forest, and seems more lenient about returning vii. And also vii arent native to raktika like they are to their forests in other series. Vii immigrated to ronka were assigned as royal guards and adopted ronkan gods. Whereas in every other series that duty in internally derived (as opposed to vii's externally derived) from their own indigenous spirituality. Up until this point i had mostly been thinking of Source viera in terms of the ivallice games but because vii are comparatively so different I wonder which the golmorre viera are more similar to. I wonder how much of fannow is because of the whole apocalypse thing.

A very exhausted Kachi gets ready to head back to the Source after the events at the end of 5.0. Y'shtola convinces her to stay another night and sleep.

So yea I actually had two peices of wirting done but just not edited and I finished them both up on the train the other day. Writing this fic inspired me to change Kachi's hair twice for The Lore. Anyway, I'm really happy with her new hairstyle, and hopefully I will put together a gallery of photos from around this time to show the change.

It's fucking bullshit there's not a single rain of blood during Stormblood. That means Stormblood is the only ffxiv release that lies to you.

Like. Final Fantasy XIV Online. Sure was an online game. Sucked shit so they nuked it. So then comes Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The game was rebuilt that realm sure was reborn. Both in the meta and also in the text.

Now Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. There's like two floating continents we go to the alliance raids were about sky pirates litcherally the expansion that added flight as a mechanic. We sure fucking went Heavensward.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. Your quest is literally shadowbringing. You banish the eternal light and bring back the night. Technically you're the only one really shadowbringing but your friends are helping so they're shadowbringers too.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. Hey remember that quest. Yeah that quest. At the literal end of the expansion. Where you're forced to walk. Not run. Not fly. You HAVE to walk to the end. You get a status called endwalker. The quest you get after that is the final quest. Endwalker. They were not fucking subtle about that.

So i find that it's total BULLSHIT that Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood only has a metaphorical storm of fucking blood. "Ooooh a war is kinda like a storm of blood shed" don't come to me with that crap. You're the people who made the flight expansion be named "expansion where you literally go to the sky". Was it too much trouble have ONE scene with red rain? At least a little river of blood? I thought you guys were professionals but apparently i'm dealing with the fucking syrcus CIRCUS here. Unbelievable...

speaking of ill mheg and lakeland. those don't look like 100 year old ruins. (or was lakeland earlier i dont remember). but stone structures even without maintenence don't fall apart that fast like irl we have stone castles and pyramids that are hundreds or thousands of years old. stone is durable. wood is the stuff that will fall apart after a hundred or two years. i guess the pixies went on a wrecking spree?

huh just noticed everyone this expansion is in black and white. minfilia is in mostly white. urianger and y'shtola in black. thancred is in white and black . alphi and alisaie are the most colorful. and my player character is all in white too.

Kachi and Y'shtola finally manage to carve out some time for a first date between all the fighting.

I fnally got around to finishing editing their first date that I have had written for a month now. I really have been enjoying exploring what Kachi and Y'shtola are getting up to between all the action.

It has also been a fun way to practice writing.
