I kinda realised that Mr Komos' song, True Monster Heart follows the same beat as the Monster High Fright song, but the lyrics are like the corrupted version of the original.
Monster High Fright is about accepting
True Monster Heart is about rejecting
Kinda interesting when you think about it
AHHHHHH WHEN I SAW I GOT AN ASK RELATED TO THIS I FREAKED OUT DFGHNBGVFDSF TY FOR GIVING ME SOMETHING TO RAMBLE SOME MORE ABOUT ANON FOR REAL! (Also sorry for the late response, this post has been developing in my drafts for like at least a week now dfgfhng)
I absolutely agree with the conflicting messages between the two songs! I know the song focuses on the story of this universe's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the main verses, but the main focus of the song is that message of rejection of anything and everything human.
Also, because of the Jekyll/Hyde bits, it could represent the duality of where the story starts and ends in its interpretation of a "true monster heart." Instead of Mr. Hyde's human-ness making his heart "untrue," it was his utter rejection of & research into ridding himself of his Jekyll, as well as his hiding of the truth in the first place that caused him to be found out and exiled.
His heart being "untrue" had nothing to do with the fact he was half-human, because if it were, then Clawdeen and Komos's presence in and of itself within the school would've triggered its self-destruction. That was proven as a false interpretation by the story in the movie, so it's self-explanatory. A true monster heart is one of self-acceptance, despite one's flaws or differences. That's what Mr. Hyde, and Mr. Komos thereafter, had neglected to realize before Clawdeen proved the point.
Though, I've listened to both True Monster Heart and Fright Song a few times back-to-back, to try and get where you're thinking as far as the beat, but I don't hear it unfortunately (unless you meant the tempo of the song, then yes they do follow the same 120 beats per minute!).
The closest thing I can think of as far as melodic parallels between the songs is the chanting sections. The Fright Song chant is much quicker in the way it's sung compared to the chant in True Monster Heart, however. The whole of Fright Song's chant goes in 16 beats/4 measures, whereas True Monster Heart's chant takes twice as long at 32 beats/8 measures (I was a band/choir kid lol). It's mainly due to how the song kinda drags out the point, and it definitely feels like a nod to Fright Song for sure. Fright Song's chant is only there because 4/5 of the main ghouls were fearleaders, so it was sort of characterizing the cast before actually showing their characters in the webisodes.
---
Fun little headcanon/ramble that I forget if I ever mentioned about Fright Song, but with Holt Hyde being released in the 1st Signature wave with the rest of the the main ghouls and all, I think it was because he's intended to be the singer of the rap section before any subsequent content with the character was released (No offense but I don't think Holt DJs because he's a good singer sdfgbfds). This would line up with his current crush in canon with Frankie, as well as his former crush on Draculaura from either the diaries or books, maybe both? I forget. :'D Also I feel like Holt wouldn't hesitate to call Cleo vile immediately after saying she's charming either, he's very direct with his words. (I also interpret Jackson/Holt as bisexual because Deuce is included in the rap I DON'T CARE Y'ALL IT MAKES SENSE!)
Also I always interpreted the howl-like sound at the end of the rap as "Holt ran outta time/battery power for his music and transforms back to Jackson as it transitions to the rest of the song." It kinda works with how the beat kinda drops down with the howl, like a TV being shut off or something idk.
Ghoulia also debuted with Signature Wave 1 but she's only in like a second of the music video in the background, I figure it could've been budgetary reasons for the animation, to save on animating an extra character. Also I imagine flame-y hair wouldn't be very fun to animate in 2D, and Deuce's snakes moving on their own were bad enough I imagine to animate, so it begrudgingly checks out as to why Holt isn't in the animated bits with everyone else.
BUT I JUST WATCHED THE MUSIC VIDEO BECAUSE I WANTED TO FOR THE SAKE OF THIS POST AND THE GUY SINGING THE RAPPING BIT HAS, YOU GUESSED IT, A BRIGHT FRICKIN NEON RED LEATHER JACKET. He doesn't have the dual-toned shirt BUT IT'S WHITE AND THIS IS CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME Y'ALL! XD

Something I occasionally think about is why the spacesuits throughout the Pikmin series are Designed like that (in-universe I mean). Like, what features do a whistle and a glowing antenna like that have as something apparently part of the standard design? So here's my silly headcanon: mainly, they are intended to be safety features.
The antenna? It's meant to be a bright beacon that alerts potential rescuers right to someone in distress, especially when it's somewhere dark like a cave or the dark vacuum of space. It's this latter, probably very common, scenario that would inspire such a design feature. Especially considering how common place space travel is.
And as for the whistle? If the antenna is a distress beacon for the eyes, than the whistle is that for the ears. It's a built-in way to, assuming you are still conscious, let people know where you are. After all, what good will screaming do when you are drifting through space? No one can hear you scream in space...but they can hear a loud, sharp whistle! Also, assuming you are with a group of people, a great way to let them know where you are if you were to get separated during a worst case scenario. Especially since those helmets probably muffle your voice if you're far enough away. It's an easy way to play the hot-cold game of finding a sound's source going in places where such is usually perilous.
It just so happens that these safety features come quite in handy when you get stranded on a planet full of carrot creatures with tall, similarly built stems and respond well to the aforementioned whistle.

Hc that Jason has such prominent freckles and moles all over his face that he has to wear concealer as Robin so no one connects the dots (hah) that Robin’s and Bruce Wayne’s new kid’s freckle patterns match.

I'm kinda like... trying to distance myself from the next gen fandom for now because I'm so hyperfocused on developing my individual headcanons for every next gen character and I don't want to start absorbing other people's headcanons by accident??? If that makes any sense??? I think I've had some really fun and unique ideas so far (which I will be sharing eventually I promise)
I don't think the next gen fandom is all that big (in comparison to marauders anyway) but I'm excited for once I can finally be free of the headcanon development phase and follow more next gen focused blogs ahhhh

silence is uncomfortable at best for most people, but brad bakshi thrives in it. he’s the type of freak to sit in his living room in complete silence and read or scroll through twitter or stare off into space and Think. no music, no tv, no nothing. i bet he doesnt even HAVE a tv. it would just be a waste of money, since he already has a phone and laptop he can easily access netflix and other streaming services through. he’d rather read the news than sit through ten minutes of a reporter explaining what’s happening that could have been easily summarized in two sentences. he’d rather cook at home than go out to eat for the same reason (the rest of the world is never fast enough for him). anyway this has been another Weird Brad headcanon brought to you once again by tay :)

just sitting here thinking about toast baby girl asking Katniss to do her hair, so they can match. like seriously imagine them in matching attire and braids cause toast baby girl wants to be just like her mama.
and Peeta is just absolutely tickled by it and captures these moments on paper (or film).
and eventually toast baby boy becomes his mini-me, mimicking everything he does.

Are you the ‘he now has puppet features because that time in the acid burnt him SO bad they had to manually fix it but with prosthetics’ person or ‘he now has puppet features because the more you are aware of the simulation - the more toylike you become, which is also why Jevil’s head now springs on the spiral when maybe it used to be normal before’ person?

Random ask to get to know you better: Could you share your ideas on Unparalleled Innocence? I've read everything about them that canon has to offer (which is... not much at all) and I'm curious what your thoughts / headcanons are for them.
My interpretation of this bastard (affectionate) changes every time I think about them but here’s the current loose bundle of headcanons. It’s… derailed, so under the cut:
The Ancients built them at around the same time as Five Pebbles, but gave the two very different personalities — UI was programmed to be more.. passive? and accept the duty of being an iterator, as opposed to FP who was meant to resent his purpose in an attempt to accelerate the solving of the Great Problem, because a hyperintelligent computer who hated his job would get it done faster and not find some convoluted manner of circumventing his procedures, obviously.
Due to this programming to stay true to their purpose, UI also felt closer to the Ancients than most iterators, and (understandably) felt very, very betrayed when the Ancients all died anyway — you’d built us to solve your problems, and just left because we didn’t do it fast enough??
After that, they still sought someone to look up to, someone they could help so they’d feel fulfilled in supposedly being a gift to the world, which they once desired to be for the Ancients. They grew quite close to Moon, their local group senior, and she was fond of them too, partly for their (mostly) collected and polite demeanor and partly for their continued work on the Great Problem after many other iterators had already abandoned it, namely a certain Erratic Pulse, whom UI did not like for his research into personal ascension. Similar to Chasing Wind (and possibly Moon as well), UI was rather suspicious of this EP guy, but on top of that, believed him to be violating the purpose and the rules he was given, and often annoys him over it (Is NGI from SliverOfOcean actually UI? Perhaps.) EP/FP himself, however, said L + ratio + didn’t ask + no karma, and continued with his work.
Fast-forward to when FP begins doing his thing and Moon gets exploded. UI is, naturally, being a good friend of hers, extremely unhappy with this, and considering the 1654.110 (Sky Islands 4) pearl, was probably aware that FP was at fault.
They never liked the guy, but now they’re ready to ruin his entire life.
FP refuses to talk for a long time. Is he stricken with guilt, realizing what he’s done? Did his plan work, letting him silently wait to die? Or has something gone horribly wrong on his end too?
Every now and then, UI puts out an overseer. They see all the evidence of their world’s ruin and the negligence of those they once called parents — it’s no news to them. This time, though, they’ve caught something from FP’s superstructure, and sweet Void he’s going to hate seeing this in the chat.
The overseer peeks at them, beaming a projection of its saved data: walls covered in thick, tarry slime, some congealing into cysts that glow an unnatural blue at their cores. It’s Rot, and one of the worst cases yet, no less.
Didn’t even die right. Typical.
UI imports the overseer data to themself, and attaches it in a public message to the local group.
Overseer found this at Pebbles’. The consequences of his actions.
…Well, Chasing Wind didn’t like that.

okay one last post before i go to bed
Phantom Etho vs Watcher/Voidling Etho. I like both. I cannot do both. Which one.
I don't think I've explained what a voidling is so here: a voidling (Void + Changeling) is a creature of either End or Nether origins that can change certain features on their body at will. Most commonly is wings/tails/ear(or horns). However in some cases (such as Etho's) the wings(or tails/ears or horns) are locked in a set state and cannot be changed. Void features are colored differently depended on whether the voidling is from the End or the Nether. End-Born voidlings have mostly black features (looking as if they were made out of the void itself), and often have purple markings. Nether-Born voidlings have mostly dark gray features (more like a solid thing of ash, but can have void-like aspects) and always have bright orange markings.
Etho is an End-Born voidling! He can shift his tail and ears/horns around, although usually defaults to either fox features or more demonic ones, often a mix (fox ears and a demon tail or horns and a fox tail). He did get the purple colored markings (far more then normal), although that might've been his Watcher side influencing things, considering both hybrid types developed around the same time. He cannot shift his wings at all, which are feathered and a light purple with darker purple undertones (a common trait of a player-turned-Watcher, although some pure Watchers may have these wings)
So yeah, just a little headcanons for the night.
Also some help on the whole Watcher/Phantom vs Watcher/Voidling plz. I love how I've worked in the Voidling elements but Phantom!Etho is actually a really funny idea lol

Dion x Adam Hc's?
This got longer than expected so I'm putting it under a cut whoops
It'd take them a while to even become friends, I think. Adam's perfectly amicable when interacting with the Aquatos, but he doesn't really go out of his way to interact with Raz' family—he's busy with his history project and the new responsibilities that come with being a junior agent. And Dion's still working through his own issues, so he's not going out of his way to interact with the junior agents, either.
It's not a single moment that brings them together; it's a bunch of small things. Dion bringing Raz food he cooked as an apology, and Raz sharing it with the other junior agents. Adam going to interview Lucrecia and the other Psychic Seven for the sake of his history project, and finding her and Dion hanging out. Maybe they're cooking together, maybe they're just talking, great aunt and nephew. Dion hanging out with the junior agents more often due to his connections with Raz and Gisu (and later Morris, as Queepie's "boss"). The junior agents being invited to a show the Aquatos put together in the Questionable Area.
Dion and Gisu continue to hang out and make googoo eyes at each other. Dion and Frazie get sucked into the junior agents' friend group. Morris and Dion's stupid little rivalry catalyzes into a genuine (if vitriolic) friendship.
Slowly, Adam and Dion start to interact more. Maybe there's animosity between them over Adam starting to act as another big brother figure for Raz. Maybe they're starting to develop a small but genuine friendship. Maybe the potential drama ends up with them reconciling over the fact that they both care about Raz, if in slightly differing flavors.
Dion and Gisu's attraction turns into a genuine friendship; they're just happy to be in each other's company. Maybe there's drama over them not realizing that they're not actually into each other romantically at first, maybe they have a brief falling out because they're teenagers who don't fully know what they're doing and don't have the experience to really know what's going on with them. But I'd like to think that, whether there's drama or not, they manage to come out the end of it as genuine friends.
And then this is only tangentially related but I'm going to drop some of my genderfluid Dion headcanons. Trust me this will tie into the Adam/Dion ideas I have you just gotta bear with me for a moment.
So. While all of these other post-game developments are going on. Dion's grappling with feelings he's had for a while. Some days he's perfectly fine with being called a boy and he, some days it makes him want to crawl out of his own skin. He's never really known what to do with this, though, so he just kinda assumed everyone felt that way during puberty (because everyone feels uncomfortable with their body and look and face during puberty, right? it's what he keeps hearing in all of the books he reads, anyway, and every puberty pamphlet he's ever looked at when visiting a library has gone on and on about how the changes can be scary. so clearly what he's going through is Normal and Not Worth Talking About. Clearly.).
But post-game, now that Dion's developing all these friendships and not-enemyships with the junior agents, now that he's starting to close the divide between him and Frazie and actually be close with her again, now that his life's been flipped upside down for both the better and for worse—now Dion's being hit with these feelings full force, and more often. He mentions them to Frazie, once, in an offhanded way. Mentions that sometimes, he wishes he was a girl instead.
"But you've probably felt that way a thousand times, haven't you? Since it's, like, perfectly normal to want to be the other gender during puberty."
"Dion what the fuck are you talking about. I have never wanted to be a boy. Dion."
",,,What."
"Dee I think this is something you need to actually look into."
So they do. And Dion comes to the conclusion that,,, he she wants to be a girl.
Frazie is delighted at the idea of having another sister. Especially one who's her age and thus understands the trials of teenagehood. She's standing with him when he tries to explain it all to his parents, she's helping Lucrecia fix one of her old dresses so it'll fit Dion, she's helping Dion restyle her hair to fit her better.
Augustus and Donatella ask if Dion wants to change her name, but Dion says she'll keep it. It's hers, and she can't imagine herself with any other name.
And things are going great! Dion starts to feel comfortable in her own skin, and her parents are looking into transition options and trying their best to be supportive. All of her younger siblings are supportive; Mirtala paints her nails and braids her hair.
But, just as Dion had days where she wanted nothing more than to be a girl, she also had days where she was fine being a boy. And now she's experiencing the reverse; some days, being a girl is great, but others, it just. doesn't. fit.
And all of this self-exploration gets tangled up with Dion's growing friendships with Gisu and Morris and Adam and the other junior agents. With her growing crush on Adam that she didn't even realize she had.
Meanwhile, on Adam's end, he's slowly become better friends with Dion. When Dion came out as a girl, he supported her. When Dion came out as "I don't even know anymore," Adam described his own experiences with gender in an effort to convey "hey gender is weird and it's okay that you don't have it all figured out right away."
And that, plus Augustus & Donatella promising to support her regardless of what pronouns she uses, helps Dion realize that,,, maybe she's both. Maybe he's a girl and a boy and maybe sometimes she's something else entirely. It's not a fast realization, not a sudden epiphany, more just Dion experimenting with different styles trying to find the "right" one for herself and realizing slowly that he actually likes a lot of them.
And also realizing that she's really fucking gay for Adam. He wants to be Adam's girlfriend boyfriend whatever, just so long as it means being able to lean against and spend time with him. Dion starts purposefully asking Adam questions about history just so she can hear Adam ramble about a subject he's passionate about.
And Adam,,, starts to catch on. Gisu's actually the first junior agent to notice, and being the romance fan that she is, decides that she is going to be the best wingwoman. Operation Get Adam and Dion Together is a go, and she is 100% dragging Morris into this.
Shenanigans will be ensuing.
tl;dr it'd be a slow burn friendship coupled with dion doing self-exploration that turns into a crush on dion's end and potential attraction on adam's end. and then gisu notices what's going on and starts scheming ways to get them together.
