The abusive ones. The deadbeat ones. The ones that show favoritism. the ones who are there but aren’t there.

But what about all the good dads?

The hardworking ones

The ones who make sure their kids have what they need (which means they might have to go without)

The ones who have to do everything themselves

The ones who put aside their own struggles so they can be a good dad for their kids

The ones who don’t have the best background but they made the effort to change things so they became different and broke that cycle

Any Father’s Day headcannons for the face family?

Okay I'm going with nationverse for this because 1) its more dramatic and 2) I have more to say about it.

Though Father's day wouldn't become the holiday it is today until centuries later, I do think when he was a child Alfred would give Arthur small gifts as a thank you for taking care of him (I know, I know Arthur didn't always do the best job, but like anything there were good and bad moments). Matthew did the same for Francis and later Arthur when he was taken into Arthur's care.

They probably wouldn't properly celebrate Father's Day together until all the family issues are on their way to getting resolved. Though, then again, Mattie probably would continue to get Arthur a little something because although Arthur sometimes ignored him, at least Arthur had stayed. It's a very complicated relationship, but Matt tries to make the best of it.

Don't worry Mattie and Francis work out their issues long before Arthur and Alfred get to even talking about theirs. Francis cried when he received his first Father's Day Gift from Matthew. It was a sign of just how far they had come and how Matthew had come to fully see Francis as his father again.

Arthur and Alfred take a long time to apologize to each other and start working things out because both are very, very stubborn when it comes to feelings and like to bottle up their emotions. But eventually they do. I think, a few years before they finally sit down and talk about their past, Alfred starts leaving little gifts for Arthur every Father's day. At first Arthur is confused, but eventually he figures out it's Alfred. He decides to wait and let Alfred to admit to it (after all, there must be reason Alfred wants to be anonymous). But Arthur starts leaving little thank you notes, hope Alfred will see them.

Eventually, the two talk and Alfred finally delivers a Father's Day present right to Arthur's face.

After that and Francis and Arthur get together, Mattie, Al, Francis and Arthur all celebrate the day together. Some of the other Commonwealth countries like Australia and New Zealand would also join every now and then.

But yeah...Thank you! Thanks to you I got to make a Father's Day post like I wanted to.

Bonus:

Al and Matt making Arthur and Francis breakfast for Father's Day. Like I'm picturing them all going up to Al and Matt's cottage and spending Father's Day weekend there and just doing things together trying to have some semblance of what being in a normal human family is like.

Let's remember that as Father's Day is approaching that while there is nothing wrong with wishing your mother (who had to fill both roles) a happy father's day, let's keep the general attention on fathers

And let's not use that day to bash fathers either, even if yours wasn't a good one--just like we shouldn't do it to bash mothers on mother's day
