Helmut Lang 1998 Review
A black suit, a black belt, a white collar shirt, and a pair of black derbys. A very important outfit which we believe could be the sole basis and prime identification of an essential homme. Or in fashion school terms, this could be his bodice, his genetic makeup, his skeleton. Helmut Lang’s Spring 1998 show amongst other designers at the time including Raf Simons, Prada Homme, and Calvin Klein…

"if the message speaks for you, it is made for you" - Cleo Loque (2021)
Women's empowerment has evolved through the years, and it has continued to expand, which has made the community and feminist group larger and larger. The growing awareness of women's empowerment signifies an important change in societal perspectives and promotes the growth of an advocacy community dedicated to gender equality.
Wearing statement pieces that show power through print, such as Hiraya Pilipina's products, is one way we can show our support and advocacy for women. Hiraya Pilipina, as a women-owned business, understands the challenges that women face on a daily basis. As a result, they put in a lot of work to create products that encourage women to embrace their unique selves and feel empowered. In the long run, Hiraya Pilipina is a brand that inspires women who are struggling to feel confident.

Cleo Loque, the founder of Hiraya Filipina, is a student who manages both her academics and her brand. When Cleo was just entering Grade 11 of her senior high school years at San Beda University-Rizal, she launched Hiraya Pilipina and issued its first catalog in July 2019. "To spearhead my own growing business makes me feel like a proud mother who sees her baby grow, blossom, and make an impact on the community," she said when asked about being a current young female CEO.
Cleo Loque sees her company as a lifestyle, a "home to women-empowering products." "Hiraya Pilipina is all about community. It is our vision to build a community of Filipino women across the globe who can see our brand as a safe space for them to listen and be heard," Loque stated. The CEO makes it clear that anyone can wear their empowering t-shirts. Loque emphasized that Hiraya Pilipina's goal is to create a brand that not only offers empowering products but also fosters a sense of belonging and support among Filipino women worldwide. By building a community, the brand aims to provide a safe space where women can share their stories, find inspiration, and empower one another. Additionally, Loque emphasizes that the empowering tees are inclusive and available for anyone who resonates with their message, regardless of gender identity. Their vision is to create a global community of Filipino women who see the brand as a safe haven.

Some of Hiraya Pilipina's famous best-selling prints are "Abante Babae" and "How are you". Not only has become a symbol of empowerment and solidarity among women, encouraging them to move forward and break down barriers but also promotes their health and well-being. Their eye-catching designs and low price make it a popular choice for those looking to make a fashion statement.
As for Hiraya Pilipina's Future products, Cleo Loque stated that "Although we started with statement shirts, masks, and bags, we are no longer leaning toward fashion. Our direction now is to improve women’s intimate care in the Philippines with our products such as nipple pasties, boob tapes, and hair removers. Soon, we’ll venture into period care and wellness. That’s the direction we’re going."

Hiraya Pilipina stands as a symbol of power in a world where fashion meets empowerment, joining stories of strength and unity into every print and design. As Cleo Loque puts it, "If the message speaks for you, it is made for you." Hiraya Pilipina's inspiring pieces transcend simple fashion; they embody a movement, inviting everyone to be part of a global community advocating women. As the brand confidently moves forward, expanding its range of products, it continues to redefine what it means to dress for a cause—a cause that speaks to women.

HETEROSEXUAL CIS-PEOPLE LOOK HERE
Tumblr media
Snaps my fingers at you as you scroll past this post
Look at me. Listen.
I'm not the best at serious posts, but that article up there reminded me of how important it is that people like you stand up for us. So hold on while I try to get this out of my mushy end-of-work-day brain.
We could fight this fight ourselves for decades trying to reach the equal laws, gender affirming trans healthcare that doesn't have a 2-5+ soul-eating years of waiting time, medical care with equal knowledge of lgbtqia+ bodies, and, what is often forgotten, inclusion in the little everyday areas of life like our way of speaking or things being set up or designed with the existence of queer people in mind.
But you joining in could get us there so much faster.
The power you have as a hetero cis person is that you set the standard for what is seen as the average way of treating us among other hetero cis people. You have been given the power of deciding what's "normal" and I'm begging you to use it.
Richard Green is a great example of to what extent your actions can help our situation, and smaller ways of support still add up to a great impact on society, and could make the days of the queer people you interact with.
Educate yourself before you speak up, but don't be silent.

Escape the Ordinary: Embracing Uniqueness in Fashion
Fashion is a powerful form of self-expression, a visual language that speaks volumes about who we are and what we stand for. It's a realm where creativity knows no bounds, where the ordinary is often left behind in favor of the extraordinary. In the world of fashion, escaping the ordinary is not just a trend, it's a lifestyle. The beauty of fashion lies in its ability to transform the mundane into the extraordinary. A simple piece of fabric, when crafted with creativity and vision, can become a stunning garment that makes a bold statement. It's about seeing beyond the ordinary, about pushing boundaries and breaking conventions.
Escaping the ordinary in fashion is about embracing uniqueness and individuality. It's about daring to be different, to stand out from the crowd. It's about expressing your personal style without fear of judgment or criticism. It's about wearing what you love, not what you're expected to wear. In the world of fashion, the extraordinary often comes in unexpected forms. It could be a bold color, an unusual silhouette, a striking pattern, or a unique accessory. It's these elements that make a garment or an outfit stand out, that make it extraordinary. But escaping the ordinary in fashion is not just about what you wear, it's also about how you wear it. It's about carrying yourself with confidence, about owning your look. It's about not being afraid to experiment, to try new things. It's about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing the unknown. Fashion is a journey, a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. It's a journey that encourages us to explore, to experiment, to push our boundaries. It's a journey that challenges us to escape the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary. Escaping the ordinary in fashion is about embracing your uniqueness, about daring to be different. It's about breaking free from conventions and creating your own style. It's about transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, about turning the mundane into the magical. So, the next time you look at a fashion photograph, remember that it is not just a picture. It is a story, a fantasy, a world that has been created to escape the ordinary. It is a testament to the power of creativity and imagination, a testament to the power of fashion photography.
Fashion photography is a realm where creativity and reality intertwine, a space where the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary. It is a genre that has the power to redefine norms, challenge conventions, and transport viewers into a world of glamour, elegance, and style. Fashion photography is not just about capturing clothes on a model; it's about telling a story, evoking emotions, and creating a narrative that transcends the mundane. It's about escaping the ordinary and stepping into a world where everything is possible. The essence of fashion photography lies in its ability to create a fantasy. It's about pushing boundaries and exploring new territories. It's about creating a world that is so captivating, so enchanting, that it makes the viewer want to be a part of it. It's about creating a world that is far removed from the ordinary, a world that is extraordinary.

The ‘cocooning’: A new clothing brand’s orgin story.
TW: depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation.
Hello! Hope you are having a great day. If you’re new, my name is Kennedy Harris, and I own the latest fashion brand: SOWER. In today’s article, I will discuss how the ‘cocooning’ was my most significant catalyst for starting SOWER. I will strive to answer questions like “What does SOWER mean?” “Did you even like fashion before the ‘cocooning’?” “What is the ‘cocooning,’ and why does it even matter to the brand’s creation?” So buckle up, get your tissues ready, and put on your blue light glasses, because this is gonna be an emotional one. Enjoy!

So now you might be asking: what was so crucial about sixth grade? Well, sixth grade was the first time that school did not come easy to me. I had just finished the best school year of my life (and that opinion still stands as I write to you in the 12th grade), and immediately once I entered middle school, I felt a very negative shift within myself. So many new changes were happening; I was going through some of the most pivotal changes that puberty had to offer, I was being separated from my peers, and, most notably, doing the schoolwork that my teachers gave me was actually hard.
These things led to a steady decline in my grades, and I couldn’t have been more distraught. Admittedly, I’m a bit competitive, so I wanted my grades to be high, and it felt like I was letting myself down. But, what really put the nail in the coffin for me was thinking that I was letting my family down, letting my mom down. And I couldn’t deal with that.
Tumblr media
Anyway, before I knew it, my room was a mess, my sleeping patterns were ridiculous, I was exhausted all the time, and I cried every day after school. I knew that what was happening to me and around me wasn’t normal in the slightest. On top of that, I was also realizing that I didn’t trust anyone to know about this information. I thought that if I told my family how I was feeling, I would be burdening them, and I wouldn’t tell my “friends” because they were all gifted kids and seemed to be able to handle everything.
Tumblr media
As I said before, I try to find ways to fix my problems, especially when I am in a bind and feel like I have no one else to turn to. So the first thing I figured was, “I need to earn money so I can get a therapist. And maybe, just maybe, I can go back to being my old self”. That goal wasn’t strong enough to rid me of my suicidal thoughts, however, and I continued my downward spiral. My grades were getting worse, my relationships were getting worse, my mom was expressing more and more disappointment in me, and I was getting closer and closer to the point of not being able to take it.
But one day, a particularly bad progress report graced my mother’s home screen. I had been lying to her about my grades. I mean, she still knew I was doing poorly, but she didn’t know that I was doing this poorly. And I thought to myself, “This is it; she’s going to give me a spanking.” I had never gotten a spanking before because of my good behavior and grades, and to think that my mother was finally going to give me one, really made me feel like I was a no-good, lowlife scum who was better off gone. I had finally driven the woman who meant most to me to the point of hitting me, of punishing me.
But she didn’t.
She gave me mercy. She believed in me and my ability to pull myself back up. And at that moment, when she told me that, I figured that I could do this, I could live for her. I can live, I should live, because someone actually believes in me. Once that was over, I started to hone in on finding a true purpose for myself instead of just living for my mother. I didn’t find it, however, until about the 7th grade.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was still depressed during the seventh grade, so I couldn’t work on it in full force, but bit by bit, I started building a brand around the lemon drawing. I made descriptions for the first collections, I drew up a few sketches, and I could even vividly picture in my head how I wanted everything to go. I chose SOWER because it’s ‘power’ with an ‘s,’ and I thought it would be too on the nose to call the brand ‘sour.’ When the pandemic hit, I started taking SOWER more seriously by drawing up more mockups and establishing characters. Things were really starting to come together. However, the first year or so of me putting more force behind it didn’t bear any fruit. But I hope that this third year is really the charm!
Tumblr media
Welp, that is all from me today! Hope you have a great rest of your day. Sorry, I didn’t get to talk about my new brand mascot today; I promise you that I’ll have all that information in my next article. Stay tuned!
Remember to be kind to yourself and accept yourself for everything you are and may be. Kennedy, signing off!
