Three awesome people I had the pleasure of hanging out with this week, edited into art. Okay, to be fair, they're already art, because cool people ARE inherently works of art. #friends #farmily #digitalart #photoediting #photomanipulation #art #Tacoma #Washington (at Hilltop Neighborhood, Tacoma, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd1cNNQvOow/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Just giving ya'll a heads-up! I'm gonna be organizing and editing this blog a bit so don't be alarmed if you see random changes. It's still me I swear XD
Are you farmilier with Morimu? I find it incredibly interesting how differently it adapts the same source material as the anime.
It's a lot more intentional/explicit with it's queerness than either the manga or anime (in my opinion) and I would love to hear your thoughts on that subject?
I mean, I'm aware of its existence, obviously, and I do have the BDs for it, I just haven't really had time to sit down and watch it right now, and I won't for weeks yet if I get around to it then.
I also know that the Western fandom I see things via would have crowed about the things they saw as queer bits, and I've seen what they've crowed about, and I just don't see how that's more explicit than what the manga has given us.
I feel like saying its more intentional or more explicit with queerness than a series that gave us, "Transitioning from one gender to another can literally save lives," seems unfair. I think saying that when the original storyline of, "Two people who are constrained by their respective roles in their society and can't be together commit double suicide and are together in the next life, complete with a series of flashbacks to their emotional connections" is literally a very traditional Japanese romantic story structure, is deeply unfair given that this is a Japanese story. I think ignoring the concept of a Lover's Leap is unfair. I think ignoring that Sherlock's introduction looks like a shoujo manga love interest is unfair.
And I think ignoring that a male character in that series very explicitly says, when someone mentions the possibility of him being distracted by attraction to a woman, says, "unfortunately I have no interest in women. That's more your area," and then later makes wedding vows to a man, is deeply, explicitly queer, is unfair.
I think ignoring that the message of the series is that love in all its forms, no matter how untraditional, saves, is kinda queer, feels unfair.
I dunno. I haven't seen the musicals. Maybe you're right. But it feels a little disingenuous to me.
In 2018, Myer Farm--the family farm from which Myer Farm Distillers sources their grains, owned and operated by John Myer, vice president of the distillery--celebrated its 150th year of operation under the Myer farmily name. This called for special honorifics from the distillery, for which I created a celebratory design and varying color combinations for shirts to be made from. The original "Myer Farm" and accompanying grain sheaf logo were created by a local hand-letterer and illustrator, Christopher Wolff, while the rest of the elements were added by me to complement the existing design while highlighting the accomplishment of 150 years of operation.
Karsten's natural fleur de sel brings a fine taste with loads of minerals like potassium, iron and calcium. Gentle on blood pressure, it regulates water retention in your body making daily cooking safe and healthy for all the farmily, while bringing that extra fine touch to your ordinary.
