We don't respond to most asks publicly, but we do read them all. We do not often check replies or mentions. Do NOT send band suggestions via the askbox, it is for correspondence only. ───♫───────────── ⏭ Why was this poll tagged with [x]? Genres are usually from the artist's RateYourMusic page, if they have one. Country tags are also from RYM - we tag both formed/birth location and disbanded/death location. As for decades, we do not usually tag all decades a band was active for, just a few that contain their most popular output. If we get any of these wrong, please send an ask!

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why was this album art used? If the artist has an RYM page, the album art we use is of their most-rated album on there. If they don't, we use Spotify or Bandcamp or other sources. We tend to avoid album art that depicts potentially triggering subjects.

───♫───────────── ⏭ This artist is morally reprehensible! We do not endorse or support any artists posted here. We're asking if you've heard them, not if you like them - and doing a background check on every submission is infeasible. You are free to warn others via reply, reblog, etc. That being said, we may reject submissions at our own discretion.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Can you add a "yes, unfortunately" option? No, and we don't think this is the best perspective to have. Every band is someone's favorite! We are not intent on changing the three options we have now.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Can you post more/less of [x] genre? We run entirely off of submissions, and go through those mostly in chronological order. We do not control which bands get submitted. That being said, we do try to space out polls in the queue if there's a lot of submissions of the same genre/vibe in a row.

───♫───────────── ⏭ When will band submissions reopen? If/when we get through the bulk of the current submissions. Our backlog is so massive that this may not happen until 2026 (at the latest) though. Sorry!

───♫───────────── ⏭ When will my submission be posted? You can check our progress by looking at the submissions spreadsheet. Finished submissions are the ones highlighted turquoise. Keep in mind that we post once per hour, and you can probably estimate the date from there.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why didn't my submissions post in the order I submitted them? We rearrange the queue if there's a lot of bands of the same genre/vibe submitted in a row. Or for no reason.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why didn't my submission get posted at all? A few reasons this could happen:

Your band is still in the queue, just not in order (see the question above this one)

Your band has been submitted before (search the blog or the data sheet for them)

Your band is so obscure we couldn't find album art or genre info for them

We genuinely made a mistake: thought we did them already, or accidentally skipped them, etc.

Feel free to submit them again (though, if possible, please first search the suggestions spreadsheet to make sure nobody else has submitted them again already). If you're positive your submission got skipped, you can also send an off-anon ask or DM a mod, and we'll post a poll for them ASAP if the submission is valid. Accidents happen.

───♫───────────── ⏭ How do I suggest songs for multiple-artist submissions? See here and here.

───♫───────────── ⏭ What's the policy on vulgar/offensive band names or album art? Generally OK, but it'll be decided at our own discretion. In the case of album art, we try to find one of the artist's other works at around the same popularity, and if we can't, we'll trigger tag it.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why don't you tag polls with the band names? Tagging it would put the post in the lap of every fan who follows or searches for the tag. For popular bands, we feel this would skew the results too much.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Can you trigger tag [x]? We currently tag common triggers like gore, nudity, body horror, and suicide (as "#____ tw"); if we missed a post with one of those, please let us know! As for implementing new trigger tags, sorry, we have enough on our plate at the moment and probably wouldn't remember it. We recommend using Xkit Rewritten's post block feature and/or Tumblr's built-in tag/content filtering.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Have y'all considered increasing the post speed to more than 1 per hour? We don't really want to, sorry! Making 24 posts per day to keep pace is enough work for us already, haha.

How to join the Transgender Ancestor Rite: an FAQ on our updated format

What is it?

an annual, non-denominational ritual honoring transgender individuals who have passed on

an act of solidarity with the lineage of transgender ancestors who have come before us and paved the way, as well as with the descendants who will come after us when we are gone

a chance to share tenderness and kindness with the restless spirits of transgender people who lost their lives to violence

an opportunity for living transgender folks, including those who have lost trans loved ones, to grieve, mourn, and pray

a labor of love from a multiracial group of trans spirit workers, each at various stages of study in ancestor veneration practices, who have been putting on this ritual since 2014

When is it?

the ritual should take place on or around the Trans Day of Remembrance on November 20th, preferably within a week

most of us do it at night but any time of day is fine

if you need to do it a little before or after the 20th, don't sweat it

Where is it?

wherever you are!

groups are welcome to host local events and inform us about them, but the ritual itself takes place in a location of your own choosing, usually at home

if you have access to a local TDOR event that could incorporate some or all of this ritual, you are welcome to bring it there

most of the organizers have historically been located in the northeastern US but you don’t have to be

Who is it for?

it honors everyone from this year’s Trans Day of Remembrance official list, as well as any other deaths of trans individuals from the year that participants wish to include

illness losses, violent deaths, suicides, and natural deaths are all eligible for inclusion

it includes, cumulatively, all transgender deaths from previous years as well, named on the TDOR lists and unnamed, throughout history

it honors and praises the trans ancestors, people who were alive both recently and longer ago, who feel themselves in connection with us, who have received the care and honor we offered through previous years’ rituals, who are bright and well and who can tend the line from the other side

participants can be trans or cisgender, of any or no denomination or faith

Does it cost money?

nope! this is an anticapitalist affair

you can buy incense and offerings if you like, but you don’t need to spend money to participate

Why are y’all doing this?

honestly this could take pages and pages about the importance of this work and of soothing the troubled dead and tending our ancestral line et cetera et cetera ad infinitum but the short version is

we gotta

our ancestors require it and we’re making sure they get it

Okay, how does it work?

during the ritual, you sit or stand at an altar, light a candle, put out a glass of fresh water, and read a prayer

you may also make any other offerings you feel called to do

if so moved, you read the names of the dead from this year's TDOR list and call on our bright and well ancestors to tend to these newly passed souls

all the people participating in all the different places in the world help create a rising raft of energy that is greater than the sum of its parts, delivering the restless dead among our line into the care of our bright and well ancestors, who, in turn, also care for us, the living

Prayers? I thought you said this was non-denominational.

prayers can involve divinity, or they can be kind and soothing words to say to the dead

you can look through our prayers tag to get ideas and inspiration, but feel free to find poems on your own and/or write something yourself as well 

you are welcome to include deity or not, as you prefer

the organizers of this ritual incorporate gods and spirits in our practices but you by no means need to

on the flip side, if you want your gods involved, feel free to do so in whatever respectful manner works for you

What do I need on my altar?

the basics are an altar cloth (white is traditional; a bandana works), a cup to be filled with water, and a new or dedicated candle (white is traditional here also but follow your instincts)

other great offerings include cut flowers, portions of your food and drink (though alcohol is not advised with restless spirits), tobacco, honey, pictures and/or names of the deceased, art, music, dancing, and any gender paraphernalia you think the ancestors might like

do not put pictures of living people on the altar

it can be as simple or ornate as you choose: the important parts are the candle, the cup, and the cloth

Isn’t it sketchy to be working with dead people?

a little bit

it is much less sketchy since our format change in 2022, at which point this ritual shifted from working directly with restless spirits (dicey) to interfacing with them only through our cadre of elevated bright and well ancestors who have already benefited from previous years' rituals

we advise that you cleanse or purify in whatever way you prefer, ideally before and after the working

if you’re in a Western (especially American Christian) culture that views death as The End and discussion of death as taboo, consider reading up on cultures where ancestor veneration is a normal part of everyday life (hint: it’s most of them)

Hi! Juste wanted to let you know that I discovered the concept of "sicktember" a few months ago, and I love it. I recently got back to writing again, and am exited to participate in the 2022 edition :D

Also, if I may, I'd like to suggest not a prompt per se but an alternative: could one of the alt. be "A prompt from last year's list"? (I am inspired by some of last year's prompts ^^)

We are so happy you found our event! More so, we're thrilled to hear that our event has gotten you excited about writing again!

As far as prompts go, we have our list pretty much set and ready to present in the next few weeks. But we certainly understand why you would like 2021's list. It turned out great and inspired a ton of amazing work! It was hard to imagine that we would be able to come up with an equally amazing list for this year but we're pretty sure we nailed it. Hahaha! We are SUPER excited to share the 2022 Prompt List in the coming weeks! And we really think that you'll love that one just as much. (If not more! It's certainly debatable...)

However, this doesn't mean that you can't use last year's prompts! You're welcome to use them. But unfortunately we won't be able to reblog/promote work that isn't based on the most current set of prompts.

But the good news is- Sick fic prompts lend themselves to being combined! It would be perfectly reasonable to take a look at this 2022's prompt list, when it arrives, and mix it up with last year's. Hello! There have been a lot of repeated asks and I wanted to answer them once and for all so I don't clog the dashboard with the same thing over and over. :)

What is the purpose of MC being a child in the beginning?

I wanted MC to be at their most vulnerable place possible so MC is a child in the beginning. In Chapter 2 there is a timeskip to when they are 15 and then in Chapter 3 they become 20.

Does MC have to become the Royal Consort?

Yes.

How many books will there be?

I'm planning on this being a duology!

Will we be able to choose X, Y, and Z?

Regarding the MC, you will be able to choose the following:

Appearance except for their eyes which are red by default. *

Type of compliments they prefer

The things that are set are:

Due to the events of the story, your MC will want revenge at the beginning of the story no matter what. ***

* Why are MC's eyes red by default?

Each of the royal families has a signature eye color, MC's family's eye color is red. Eye color is extremely important in this story.

** What kind of coping mechanisms are there?

Which unhealthy coping mechanism is the worst for each RO's route?

I'm not a fan of spoilers and I think it will be much more interesting to see for yourself later on.

*** Why is MC set on revenge in the beginning of the story?

MC lost their entire life at the hands of Luceris and then got forced into the role of the Royal Consort. It wouldn't make sense, to me (the author), if young MC didn't want any sort of retribution.

Can MC decide not to pursue revenge once they are older?

Yes.

Just to make sure, there is a path of revenge in this IF, right?

Quick answer: Yes.

So MC can kill Luceris as revenge?

Yes. This is the only possible death I will confirm so please do not ask me about the other characters.

Can MC do X, Y, and Z as a form of revenge?

Why don't you play and find out?

At least tell us if MC can romance Helios for revenge.

Yes, that will be possible.

If MC does that, can they also genuinely romance someone else?

No. The ROs are all on friendly-ish terms with each other and would not have that type of relationship with MC if they were playing around with Helios.

Remember, the routes WILL lock at some point, until then everyone is free game.

MC will be able to have flings / one-night stands in any route though.

Who can we have a fling with?

Rules and FAQ

Rules

This is a character-focused poll, not streamer. However, because of the sheer volume of nominations, we are not specifying between different server characters, e.g. Rats SMP Scott versus Origins SMP Scott. Just put down Scott Smajor, and the nomination will be for an entire portfolio of character work. 

The character does not have to identify as a man to be considered, but they do have to fall under the “sexyman” category. E.g. Iskall would be a good fit, but Stressmonster would not. 

The character does not have to be remotely human and in fact it might be better if they’re part monster. We love a good set of wings on a man.

To be considered for the poll, the character must be 18 or older during the run of the server. They do not need to have entered the server as 18, but they need to have exited the server as an adult. There is no maximum age.

Sexyman is using the tumblr definition, which often includes the fact that the source material is not that sexy/detailed/gender, but boy did the artists run with it. We believe the opportunity presented by Minecraft skins offers a peak opportunity for sexyman-ness. You do not have to be attracted to the character, but you do have to go “oh wow, someone’s having fun” at what the artists/writers are doing. 

We will be running a 96-character bracket, for the most fun matchups.

Why are you doing this? There is a devil on my shoulder.

I think some of the nominated sexymen are just Sexy Men, not tumblr sexymen. This is when you get to rally followers to your side and defeat them in the court of tumblr democracy. Or vote for them even harder, whichever floats your boat. 

I want to vote for a character who’s an NPC, can I? Go for it. We personally think that Eddie-The-Dilf can make a fine sexyman.

I want to know how many nominations someone has? The mods are answering nomination count questions on a “when we feel like it” basis, cause otherwise we would be answering nomination questions constantly. You may have to wait for the spreadsheet release.

I want to nominate a specific guy five times. Well that would be voter fraud, which is frowned on, but I can’t personally stop you. Do what’s in your heart and what the sexymen drive you to do. 

I want to see the spreadsheet. It will be released once it’s sorted!

How do I stop attention seeking?

I think one thing that helps me is that I don't stop attention seeking, I start seeking attention in healthy ways. The truth is that we need attention, and it's okay to ask for it in healthier ways.

While sometimes people don't have the energy/headspace to give it to us, they are more likely to if we outright ask them. A lot of people hint for attention because they feel embarrassed or bad about asking for it, and the truth is that it is way more exhausting to the people we want attention from. But it also can set us up for disappointment because sometimes what seems obvious to us isn't obvious to someone else and they may not understand what we need. And then we end up breaking our own hearts by making assumptions.

One way I ask for attention is by asking for reassurance that I'm cared for, and stuff like that.

Here's a post I wrote about seeking reassurance and it gives some advice for some behaviours you can try to self soothe to see if that helps first.

Sometimes the attention I need is met by re-reading the screenshots and messages my loved ones have sent me saying they care. Sometimes I need to reach out for something new. Either way, needing attention isn't wrong. There are just healthier ways to ask for it than others.

Hello my dear 🍅🌸 friends,

I hope you all had a great 2023 and happy 2024! ✨

It’s been so long - just over a year, I know. 😲 I miss you and being here a lot. I’m still fighting more battles than I can handle, but while fighting them, I realized that I also deserve some small mercies. 🥰

I love reading, I love SS, I love writing, and I love helping you guys, so while I’m not fully back here or active every day like I used to, I’ll start to indulge in small visits here and there. 🥳

I don’t want to create any expectative or promise anything that I can’t deliver, so I created a FAQ page to address common questions, and to outline my plans for sharing content in future interactions.

I tried to be honest with myself as I wrote the page. Essentially, it covers questions about Asks, Reading/Writing, and what I can do online now without overwhelming myself and my life (health/family/work). 🙏😅
