Thinking about UH3!Alastor’s feelings on cheating and adultery.
Content Warning: implications of period-typical racism for the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, brief mention of saneism/ableism
Alastor was born out of wedlock. Mainly because interracial marriage was illegal; his father was white and his mother was not.
His father eventually got married to a white woman Alastor has never met, and as far as Alastor is concerned, she’s the other woman. His mother was there first. It doesn’t matter that his parents weren’t married; the unfaithfulness was committed with his father’s new wife, against his mother, and not the other way around. (And honestly, he’s right.)
Meanwhile, his mother likely felt ashamed anyway, and I think he picked up on that. I think he hates his father – for many reasons, and this is one of them – and his step mother, and their perfect little family built on secrets and lies.
And then the Morningstars come along.
Because remember, when Lucifer first starts hitting on Alastor, he has no idea Lilith is in on it. He assumes, up until Bloodlust and Butterflies Chapter 6: The Pride Before, that Lilith doesn’t even know, and up until Metamours, he’s still somewhat convinced that it’s an open secret that Lilith tolerates the way his mother and stepmother did – each vaguely aware of the other’s existence, with neither being too happy about it.
What I’m saying is, Alastor spent SEVEN YEARS thinking he was Lucifer’s affair partner. Or at least that he was playing at being one, when he was still messing with Lucifer during the 6 year failed seduction.
He spent 7 years putting mental distance between himself and Lilith, because if he thought about her too much, he’d run the risk of comparing himself to the woman who stole his father from his mother. (He didn’t even like his father, but it’s the fucking principle of the thing!)
And Charlie adds a whole other layer to things.
Charlie is an only child. Just like Alastor (not including potential half-siblings he never met; I haven’t decided whether or not his father had other kids, but his mother never did).
If Alastor had been Lucifer’s affair partner – as he assumed he was for 7 years – he would’ve not only been stealing Lucifer away from Lilith, but stealing him away from Charlie.
I don’t know if he would’ve felt remorseful, exactly – remorse is a complicated emotion for Alastor, and one he very rarely experiences – but I think it would’ve been devastating all the same if he dwelled on it long enough.
All that anger and hatred he felt for his father and stepmother would be reflected back on himself. His ego would take a huge hit, which – if you’re not familiar with the realities of NPD vs the ableist armchair psych version – could lead him down a self destructive spiral because that’s his coping mechanism, that’s his shield.
So he couldn’t allow himself to think about Lilith or about Charlie. Even more than he couldn’t think about his feelings for Lucifer, he could not under any circumstances think about what that would mean for Lilith and Charlie.
I mean, it’s no wonder he reacted the way he did at the prospect of being under the same roof as them:
A record scratch played from behind Alastor’s head and static hung over his words as he spoke, “At the palace? Where your wife and daughter live?”
“Yes, well Charlie will be out with her friends, so we-”
“And now I’m questioning your sanity,” Alastor snapped, cutting Lucifer short. “Because that still leaves the matter of your wife. I can't imagine she'd be all jakealoo seeing her husband in a romantic setting with another man!”
Hey, how many times do you think Alastor had to consciously ignore Lucifer’s wedding ring?
Mans didn’t take it off when his wife left him in canon; there’s no way it came off during Lilith-sanctioned rendezvous while they’re still happily married. (The Lucilith divorce is NOT canon in UH3.)
Lucifer wouldn’t think anything of it – he’s not doing anything unfaithful; he’s not going against Lilith’s wishes; he has no reason to feel guilty or conflicted about wearing it – but to Alastor, it’s a symbol of the union he’s intruding on.
Gods, I wanna write this so bad. I have so many stories I want to tell in this universe.

Actually, the more I’m writing Alastor and Lilith interacting post-Metamours, the more I realize that Alastor has a soft spot for her. Lucifer would never get away with this shit.
It’s not unpressidented, either. From the moment the switch flips in his mind from, “this woman secretly wants to kill me,” to “oh she actually, genuinely does want to be my friend,” there is a noticeable difference.
He’s quicker to warm up to her, to open up and allow himself to express vulnerability. And while some of that is probably because Lucifer loosened the lid on Alastor’s bottled up emotions, I don’t think that’s the whole picture.
He defers to her in a way he doesn’t for Lucifer, even in subspace. He’s willing to let her take the lead in conversations and trusts that he’ll like where she brings them.
He uses her title as a term of endearment and continues to indulge her in her more royal rituals. Mentally, he refers to her as “the Queen of Hell,” where Lucifer is “the Devil.” Lilith could just as easily have been, “the First Woman,” or simply, “Lilith,” but no, he picked the royal title.
He sees her on her throne for the first time in Metamours and thinks she looks, “every bit like the Queen of the Damned.” Then on the Survey Fic epilogue, she’s “as regal and dangerous as the day he’d first seen her there,” and Alastor experiences, “All of the awe and none of the fear from that day fifty-five years ago […] along with a fondness that had been given fifty-five years to take root and flourish.”
I haven’t written Alastor’s reaction to Lucifer on his throne yet, but something tells me it’d be a lot less awe and a lot more wanting to knock him down a peg. Either by fighting, biting, or intentionally being such a brat that Lucifer physically leaves his throne to go punish him.
I know he tells Lilith that he views her as outranking Lucifer because, “your husband spent six years making a fool of himself trying to seduce me while I kept a running tally of his failures,” but I doubt Alastor ever called Lucifer “your Majesty,” with the same reverence he uses for Lilith.
I do kind of have to wonder if it’s a gender thing; if I unintentionally gave Alastor a preference for women before it was even shown on screen.
Like, I had heard Viv’s thing about how he tends to get along better with women than with men, but I cannot stress enough that I didn’t think this aspect of his character would be applicable to this AU.
Especially since Lucifer isn’t even firmly in the ‘man’ category of Alastor’s mind; he’s in his own category because even without knowing the term ‘nonbinary,’ UH3!Lucifer is a shapeshifting Fallen angel who has never been shy about the fact that he does not fit within the human social construct that is gender.
It wasn’t intentional, but I think I’m gonna keep it in mind when writing UH3 Alastor from this point forward.
So, anyway, I had an incorrect quotes idea that wouldn’t leave my head about the dichotomy in the way he views the Morningstars, despite deeply caring for them both:
Alastor, about Lilith: All women are queens.
Alastor, about Lucifer: If he breathes, he’s a thot (affectionate).

I am proud to say that I’ve dropped my first F-bomb from Alastor in a fanfiction.
He didn’t say it out loud – because he’s classy like that – but it is there.

So, I originally gave Lilith a fuller more like princess-y type of gown in Metamours because of the time period, but what if even as fashions change, she specifically forges her skin-tight dresses around Alastor in favor of ones with fuller skirts because he’s more interested in ‘skirt go spinny spinny’ than ‘skirt shows off curves.’
Alastor is not sexually attracted to Lilith (UH3!Alastor is full on, non-grey aroace; no sexual or romantic attraction is ever happening there) but he is aesthetically attracted to her (because I’m aroace and aesthetically attracted to Lilith and I’m projecting, lol), and enjoys impromptu musical numbers. Aesthetically, spinny skirts go hard, especially while dancing.
Lilith is a performer; she knows how to cater to an audience.

27 and 29! ^_^
I’m Bored and Anxious So I Slapped Together a List of Fan Fic Writer Asks
Thank you for the ask! :3
27. Is there a fic you were nervous to post/share? Why?
Is it cheating if I say, “all of them”? Honestly, I have at least a little bit of anxiety about posting anything at all; it’s part of why I have comment moderation turned on.
The one that gave me the most anxiety to post was probably A Survey on Homosexuality and Consensual Non-Monogamy (Sponsored by Queen Lilith Morningstar).
It wasn’t really anything to do with the subject matter, I’ve just never done so many different POVs in one fic before.
It was my first time writing Husk since the pilot era and my first time ever writing Cherri. I took some risks with Crymini, giving a blank slate character a big, sad backstory with no guarantee anyone would care.
And this wasn’t a POV thing, but I’m always hard on myself about writing UH3!Lilith, and trying to write her interacting with Alastor after a 55 year time-skip added a whole new level of self-scrutiny.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
Ah, has the time come to post ‘Oops, Angst’?
More context in this ask, but the TLDR is that ‘Oops Angst’ was cut from Metamours because it was kinda OOC and not a great tonal fit.
Content Warning: internalized amatonormativity/internalized homophobia
“And you’re all silk with my relationship with Lucifer?” Alastor demanded.
Oh, he was playing with fire. Alastor’s tongue had gotten him in trouble before – in fact, one could argue that it’s what got him into the trouble that was Lucifer – but this was a whole new level of risk. This was stupidly dangerous, bordering on suicidal, and yet he couldn’t seem to shut up.
Alastor felt his cheeks heating, his voice rising, as he gave his double-damning confession. His deer ears were pinned back and his head was swimming with static.
“He kissed me before sending me off to speak with you,” Alastor said. “Your husband kissed me. We went on a date, we’ve shared a bed, we’ve been… we’ve…” He couldn’t find the words.
“That doesn’t bother you at all?” he asked. “You don’t find it strange or unusual?”
There it was: all of the insecurities he’d kept buried, all the ugly outcomes he’d imagined, the remnants of stigma he’d been sure he’d long since shaken off.
Lilith, to her credit, took it all in stride. “No,” she answered, calmly. “It doesn’t bother me in the slightest.”
Metamours has plenty of angst, but this was not the right kind of angst. I needed Alastor on edge, guarded, and barely keeping it together. Not spilling his guts and falling apart.
Lilith is the same, though. Just completely calm and collected while Alastor is internally freaking the fuck out. Some things never change.

🎨, 🎯, 🦋, 🎁
Fanfic Writer Ask Game
Well, you sure know how to make an entrance. :3
🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
Ok, so people already have made fanart of one of my fics, and it has been fucking incredible. (I might have to make a tag for fanart of my fics, honestly, because I’d like to be able to just find the fanart, lol.)
But, at the risk of sounding greedy…
I’d love to see fanart for literally any scene in Bloodlust and Butterflies – Chapter 5: Rapture, or of Lilith being dramatic on her throne and Alastor realizing what she was up to in Metamours.
🎯 Do you have a writing milestone you’re working towards?
Not in regards to like word count or anything, but I have some fics that need to go out in a certain order. That’s more of a goal than I milestone though, I suppose.
Oh! I’m hoping to do my first 100% run of a challenge (casually using video game slang here because idk how else to describe it) with Ace Alastor Week, this April! It’s a week rather than a month, so I think I’ve got a decent shot at completing it!
🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?
Alastor, hands down. He’s so shaped. He’s so gender. He’s my baby girl, covered in blood, touch averse, touch starved, emotional support cannibalistic serial killer that I can project my aroaceness and cluster b symptoms onto. <3
My non-canon-compliant version of Lilith is a pretty close second, though. She is also very shaped, although in a very different way than Alastor. She’s very put together, in a genuine, spent millennia learning and mastering interpersonal skills on top of her natural charisma and confidence kind of way.
🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
Oh, do I ever!
You know the drill, readers! Spoilers below the cut!
(Specifically, spoilers for Crymini’s chapter in the Survey fic)
Christine started to laugh. A small, nervous chuckle at first that morphed into a hysterical outburst of laughter – pulling tears from her eyes and leaving her sides aching.
And the stranger… The stranger began to laugh with her.
This whole thing was insane. She was dead, she was expected to participate in a survey on queerness, and she was laughing hysterically with a seven foot tall stranger who may or may not have clocked her.
“Ah,” the stranger sighed as their combined hysterics finally began to teeter out. “Laughter is good for the soul, wouldn’t you agree?”
That almost sent Christine into another fit of laughter. What the fuck was going on?
I gave the hyena Sinner a laughter-fear response because hyena references. And I made Alastor laugh with her because he’s just Like That™️.

I’m working on the next Unholy Trinity fic now and it’s just like…
No context spoilers below:
*
Lucifer: Break a leg!
Alastor: How about I break yours instead?
*
Alastor: Well mark me down as scared and horny intrigued!
(He’s not horny in a sexual way, but he’s sensing a lot of potential entertainment value.)
*
Lilith: Oh you poor thing, you’ve got internalized amatonormativity.
*
Alastor: Is murder an effective coping mechanism?
Lilith: No, Alastor, murder is not an effective coping mechanism.

3. 5. 21. please :)
I’m Bored and Anxious So I Slapped Together a List of Fan Fic Writer Asks
Thanks for the ask! :3
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Nooo don’t make me choose! 😭
Gotta be something in UH3. I think either Bloodlust and Butterflies or Metamours.
Both have some nice Alastor angst and Lilith Being a Queen moments, but in Bloodlust and Butterflies we really get to see Alastor fall apart, and in Metamours, we get more Lilith and our first true RadioSiren interactions.
Narrowing it down to two is pretty decent for someone who cannot make a decision to save their life. Come on, I’m a Borderline, bi-angled, polyamorous, genderfluid person, what do you want from me? I can’t pick a consistent sense of self, a gender to be attracted to, a single partner, or a single gender to be, I’m not gonna be able to get more decisive than this. (Lighthearted)
5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?
I operate under the assumption that I will eventually write all of the ideas I’ve had. Because if I don’t, it makes me sad.
The biggest iffy one that may not get written is an A/B/O deconstruction I want to make, because it’s going to cover some pretty heavy stuff (everything that makes A/B/O problematic™️ is getting taken apart and addressed bit by bit) and if I work on it for too long it starts to mess with my mental health. It’s a story I want to tell, but I’m not sure I’m emotionally capable of telling it. :/
21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?
I have the digital equivalent of hoarding problem and as part of it (probably the least detrimental part, tbh) I will copy-paste deleted scenes into new docs rather than delete them entirely.
There is still a doc called ‘Oops Angst’ because I wrote part of Metamours while having a psychotic break and accidentally went on an angst spree that was vaguely OOC and didn’t match the tone I had planned for the fic.
It’ll never ever be canon, but to this day it sits right next to the Metamours – HTML doc in its little nested folder.
Someday, I might make a Deleted Scenes post or something, but until then, ‘Oops Angst’ remains.
Or I could post it in a reblog if anyone’s curious, lol.
