Shien is atypic character, he tries to be the most discreet person possible while wearing a cowboy outfit (in Japan). He doesn’t accept his reputation as the best quarterback of the Kanto out of modesty (I guess). What makes him interesting, it is his modesty, his defeatist personality, his lack of ambition (yeah he is really a character from sport shonen) and the fact that, despite all of that, he is still doing what he has to do perfectly and cleverly, making him the one of the Seibu Wild Gunmen’s pillars (if not to say THE pillar, without him the team is completely doomed, if you know what I mean).

He is my good old-looking man, so for him, I did his portrait! Yeah it takes me a lot to time for drawing something satisfying…And you know when I last edited these drawings? Today!! I wanted him to look the best as my last Eyeshield 21 I drew and he belons to the 4H.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Eyeshield 21: A Comparison on Female Characters

Sometimes there are many questions spinning in my head. I also compare books, series, or anything else that can be compared. It doesn't sound fair, but the act of comparing is basically never fair. Like what I want to say about Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Eyeshield 21.

For your information, these two anime aired at a similar time, namely in the early 2000s but both are still popular today. If you look at the genre, there is almost nothing in common between the two, except for the struggle of the main characters (Tsunayoshi and Sena) not to be easily scared or running away anymore and the existence of both Hiruma & Reborn who happened to be the smart people there.

In order not to discuss too many things, first I want to say that my point in writing this article is to show the differences in how the female characters in the two stories are treated. For KHR, it seems that there are only 2 choices of roles for female figures and both of them exist at the different spectrum; they are either going to be powerful people who are related to the mafia, or they are common people who do simple chores. On the other hand, Eyeshield 21 gives a different impression; although they did not directly participate in American Football, the role of the female characters was no less important. Mamori with her ability to make strategies, Megu who, even though she is the only girl in her team but the most decisive, Suzuna who is passionate but not spoiled, and also Karin (in the manga) who is being the Teikoku Alexanders' main quarterback. They are all unique in their own way, and they don't have to jump right into the field to be interesting characters.

Another thing that is worth asking is; why does Amano Akira, as a female mangaka, seem not to pay enough attention to her female characters in KHR rather than Riichiro Inagaki and Yusuke Murata, who incidentally are men. This may sound like a discriminating comment, but it's worth to ponder. Maybe the publishing house also have a say about the female characters' traits. But if so, then why do they make them that way? Was it because at the time Amano Akira was creating this manga, the idea of powerful and amazing women wasn't something that was quite popular in her enviroment? We can theorize, but instead of building a theory based on what we think is true (not what actually proves to be true), it's better to keep the answer to that question to ourselves.

so there's this anime about American Football called Eyeshield 21. Basically there's this kid (Sena) who is a gopher so he runs really quickly to get stuff done and not get beat up. He has an overprotective "older sister" friend named Mamori and she's kinda like a second mother to him. Anyways there's this guy Hiruma who is the quarterback of this severely underfunded football team and he threatens and kidnaps Sena to be his running back and does similar methods to get and train his team. Sena actually ends up loving football and he gets a shit ton of rivals from the opposing teams. Everyone is crazy but they go to the final tournament and win :))

Just got it done and got pictures! Omg I'm happy! It turned out great!!! The osamodas boy was the worst one for me to make. His tail wanted to fall off before being put on the cake, lol! Part of him was happy the other half was greatly nervous. It was one thing to admire you from afar, but to now spend every afternoon with you was going to feel like torture to him. Sure, he talked to you and spent some time with you, but that was different it wasn’t every day.

Kakei had debated on skipping practice, but that would have just made the team suspicious; he’s never missed in the past. He just had to suck it up and go to the field.

As he expected, there you were, the new team manager, looking out onto the field at the other players.

He froze when you turned to look at with a smile.

You ran towards Kakei to greet him with a hug, the poor boy felt his ears heat up as your arms wrapped around him. Pulling away you began to speak, but he was too distracted by the excited look on your face to pay attention to what you were saying.

While you were distracted Mizumachi had snuck up behind you and lifted you in his arms in a hug.

“Isn’t it awesome, we get to hang out all the time now,” the blonde exclaimed nuzzling his cheek against yours. Kakei had snapped out of his daze and began to feel annoyed with Mizumachi and how close he was being with you.

Something that didn’t go unnoticed by the tall blonde.

Mizumachi placed you back on your feet hearing the coach calling your name. After you had left the boys, the blonde looked at Kakei with an innocent smile.

“Need help?” he asked.

“W-what?”

“He means with her.” With a jump, Kakei looked towards his right and saw Ohira and Onishi standing beside him.

“You’ve been crushing on her for how long now?”

“It’s pretty obvious.”

“I think it’s cute.”

Having enough of them ramble, Kakei walked off towards the field.

He already knew he’d never hear the end of it from those three.

Riku

“Riku, are you okay?” You place the back of your hand to the boy’s forehead checking his temperature.

At your touch Riku felt himself burn up more.

“You feel really warm.” Riku swatted at your hand, exclaiming he was fine before walking away from you.

You had just told him about your new position as team manager and Riku immediately became flustered. He was going to have a hard time concentrating knowing you were going to be around more often. At least you weren’t a cheerleader.

Riku sat on the ground and began retying his shoes, attempting to avoid another conversation with you until he was able to calm down.

“This is adorable.” Riku froze and looked up at Kid with a glare.

“What.” he snapped.

“You’ve got a crush on the new manager.” Kid smirked, looking towards you talking to the coach.

Riku felt his ears begin to heat up, no doubt already turning red. Finishing with his shoe he stood up and refused to look at the quarterback.

Kid placed a hand on the shorter male’s shoulder as a sign of comfort.

“You’re not really subtle.”

Riku snapped his attention to Kid, who held in his laugh over the boy’s reddening face.

He really couldn’t hide his infatuation well.
