I’ve been busy today which means I’ve had time to process and think the way that I like to process and think. I know exactly why the “teach your sons that women don’t owe you anything” and other things like that strike a nerve with me. It’s actually both more simple and more complex than I thought.

First and foremost why the fuck isn’t it gender neutral? Does anyone owe anyone anything?? I absolutely understand the idea behind it and I promise I don’t need it to be broken down for me. I need you to rise the fuck up and meet me up here because this is toxic behavior. During my thought process I kept thinking “it’s toxic femininity” then I wasn’t even sure femininity was a word so I googled and it’s not only a word it’s a thing. Unfortunately, the definition according to the only article I had time to read wasn’t at all what I was trying to describe so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s still a good term for what I mean so I’m using it.

Why do we only see post about how toxic men are? As a female who is fully aware of the power that comes with being female, it would be foolish to think that we couldn’t use our powers for evil just as well. I know I could never stand toe to toe with a man and win a fist fight but I also know that he would need to wake up early and pack a hell of a lunch to ever stand a chance at outwitting me. (If it was a life or death situation and if I was in the mood because sometimes it’s just easier to give in and let them think they’ve won. Just like they do for us in physical competition situations. It’s cute when they think they’re smart. Wink. )

Any fucking way also, y’all need to start teaching your daughters not to hit men since we’re telling each other what we need to do. It’s not excusable in any situation. Ever. No I don’t believe that if a woman hits a man he should hit her back. I believe he should get as far away as possible and stay there because fuck that. That’s using the fact that you’re a female as an excuse to be abusive and it’s disgusting.

Ugh…I have to go and I was just getting started.

On the next episode, I’d like to discuss how we as women are toxic af to other women too and we do it under the guise of being inclusive. Only it’s absolutely the opposite. In conclusion I don’t even care if your mad. I don’t make friends easily any fucking way.

I’ve just finished the series Lockwood & Co on Netflix and I am OBSESSED you don’t even understand 😭😭 are the books worth the read? I’ll be real the only thing keeping me locked onto it is Lockyle, literally my fave ship of all time now. Do the books have Lockyle too or was that added by the tv series??

The books are 100% worth the read. Best books I have ever read if I am being honest, they are just that good.

Locklyle is an undercurrent of the entire series. Their relationship is not the focus of the books necessarily, but it’s always somehow part of the narrative. I don’t want to spoil too much but the Locklyle content in the books is to die for. It’s different than the show for sure, because the books focus only on Lucy’s perspective and she’s the very definition of an unreliable narrator, but their relationship is the heart of the story in so many ways.

If your sole interest in the books is Locklyle I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed, just be prepared for a slower burn. It’s worth it though.

Though one thing I will say WRT FF14 being a lot less toxic about people being "bad" at the game: it sucks that there's often an atmosphere that doesn't encourage people to learn and improve. Like, obviously there are assholes who will demand and be passive aggressive about people playing bad, but when someone honestly just wants to give advice, it's sometimes met with such open hostility.

Like, I've tried many times to explain to new tanks that you need to AOE mobs and not just single target so DPS and healers don't end up ripping aggro on the mobs the tank isn't hitting. In response, I've been told to "DPS less" or "only attack my target" or "I play how I want to." I've actually had way more negative responses to wanting to help someone improve than I have had people at least considering what I have to say! I eventually started prefacing everything with "are you open to some advice?" Which also mostly got shot down. So now I just don't say anything and end up silently salty lmao.

IDK, I just think back to when I was a sprout and picked up SMN. This was before the 6.0 changes and you had to rotate your summons depending on if you wanted to AOE or single target. I had Ifrit-egi out for most of the run when someone told me "hey, you should use Garuda during pack pulls and then swap to Ifrit when we reach the boss." At the end of the dungeon, they took the time to explain why they gave the advice and it made sense. Of course you'd want to use the summon that did AOE damage when there was a lot of enemies!

But that one interaction led me to really pay attention to my tooltips going forward and helped me improve. And, wouldn't you know it, getting better at the casual stuff led me to doing more high end duties because I found out how much fun I was having optimizing stuff. And I get that that's not everyone and that's fine. But maybe it wouldn't hurt some people to just listen to what someone else has to say. You don't even have to apply it, but maybe just think about it a little bit.
