Scary movies or happy endings?
tbh, im not the hugest fan of either? like dgmw i like a happy ending story as much as anyone, and yeah okay i prefer it to scary, but -- 🤌 peak story is a 'not-quite-happy, not-quite-sad' story... a 'it is what it is' narrative, or better yet one that leaves you with more questions than you started with
Any talents?
im very happy being a jack of all trades in most respects, tbh✨ except excel actually, im pretty good at excel and take pride in that. freak in the sheets

February 25, 2024
I met up with my family in NYC this weekend to explore and see Hadestown to celebrate my birthday and it was fantastic. I feel so rejuvenated after the quick jaunt (less than 24 hours in the city!). I'm not really a huge fan of NYC compared to my current city, but I can recognize its beauty and appeal (even though it gives me an awful experience of some sort every time I enter lol). We went to the New York Public Library and it was amazing. I wish we had hours to spend in there rather than minutes, but we had a show to get to.
Hadestown was... I don't really have words to express how much I enjoyed the show. I mean, it broke me, wrecked me, body mind and soul, but I'd see it again in a heartbeat. I'd heard about it from a friend of my dnd-friend way back in 2019 during or after a game of, you guessed it, DnD, and I'd wanted to see it ever since. I knew the story of Orpheus and Eurydice; one of my favorite tumblr posts of all time discusses the varied interpretations of the myth, and I honestly go back and read it once and a while because the story has always always always been beautifully tragic to me. So I knew how it ended (but I hadn't listened to the soundtrack--I'd refused all these years). And yet. I cried silently at intermission, knowing that Orpheus' quest would be in vain. I cried silently as Eurydice slowly dropped at the end. I cried during bows, I cried on the way out of the theater, I cried while expressing to my family how beautiful it all was. Why tell a story you know is doomed over and over and over again? And every single time, we hope they get it right, though we know they never will.
The music was excellent, the storytelling excellent, the actors (named and ensemble (even with just five they sounded so powerful)!!!!!), the choreography, the set design, the musicians, the lighting design (!!! (as a once-former lights person I'm keenly aware of the effect lighting can have on a story and whew they certainly used it))... All phenomenal. There was a choreographed bit in "Wait for me" with the lights swinging on beat and, just, wow. WOWWWWW. All involved should contribute to my next therapy bill lol.
My mother said she never realized I was such a romantic and, frankly, I didn't either. I mean I knew I was a crier. If there's one thing Imma do, it's cry. And cry ugly. But I think I'm drawn to stories about what love makes us do. Stories that show us how love can destroy, but we still do it anyway, again and again. We seek it out. We risk destruction for the chance at being known, truly and fully.* There was a line in act one from Eurydice, something like "All my life I've only held my own, now I just want you to hold me," and that knocked me out.
Y'all I think Hadestown might be my new favorite musical, surpassing Aida after, oh, six years?
I also had my first ever migraine during my trip lol. I'd braided my hair very very tightly, so it was pulling on my scalp, slowly forming a headache. That combined with the plethora of street smells, the greasy ham and pineapple pizza (which was so so so so good though, place called Carve), and two nights in a row of less than six hours of sleep (braiding lol) resulted in headache + nausea and I wanted to die. But it was nothing an Exedrin and some rest couldn't fix.
During my braiding marathon (a week and a half because I was so busy ugh (but they look gorgeous!!!!)) I watched Blue Beatle finally and thought it had a lot of heart. Regret not seeing it in theaters, but I think it came out during a period where I was just tired of it all ("it" being superhero movies). Also watched The Flash and thought it was very compelling. Flashpoint is not an uncommon means of exploration for the character, so I've seen at least a couple iterations of the same story, but I think this version was done quite well. It was interesting, well-paced, had a nice ending, and was a graceful way to get rid of Ben Affleck lol (also loved the old Batman theme <3 (ALSO also love Is She With You because that is a banger every single time)). I think Ezra Miller plays a really endearing Flash, shame he's crazy :/
Also watched a lot of animated movies on Max! I watched Belle (another with some "la-la-la"'s hehe) which was odd in many ways but was also cute and beautiful, compelling and full of heart. Then I did a bit of a Ghibli marathon of movies I'd never seen before: Tales of Earthsea, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Arietty. All beautiful in their own ways. Very unique storytelling, gorgeous art, powerful messages. There are still several I want to see!
I finished Batman Beyond and the ending was dumb anticlimactic lol. The least they could've done was a two-parter that built to something satisfactory. Honestly the epilogue episode in JL (JLU?) was more compelling. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker was pretty solid though. I think I'm going to give the DCAU a rest now hehe. Gotta catch up on the MCU, frankly. They've got some interesting things coming up...
*ReesaTeesa's "Who tf did I marry" series was something else. That was another thing I watched while braiding. Finished in two days. Was watching while making figures in the office and someone recognized her face lol. Three things. 1. I did not know a person could be tortured in the way that she was. What happened to her was awful, and it was only because she put herself in the vulnerable position of seeking love. 2. I can't say I fear a pathological liar specifically, but one of my romantic fears is wanting someone's affection so badly that I overlook red flags. Wouldn't be the first time. 3. I know how the internet works, so I shouldn't be surprised, but imo finding her ex's facebook and flaunting it in her comments was a breach of the social contract between ReesaTeesa and her audience, and it should not have been done. She does not want to be associated with that man. I fear for her peace and hope that he does not attempt to make a single penny off her. Was I curious too? Yes. But a person's privacy is more important than my curiosity, always.
Today I'm thankful for the time I got to spend with my family. I'm so thankful to have a family I enjoy spending time with. Teared up while saying goodbye :') We're considering making this a yearly thing while I'm in school here. That would be lovely. Also thankful that things are looking up for my sister, it's been a rough school year so far, but things are shifting toward the positive rapidly! Lastly, lowkey thankful that the subway was out of order today on my way back to my apartment. Forced me to take a shuttle which drove through parts of the city I'd not been to yet. Excited for spring and summer treks there, though!

Discovery Season 1 Episode 9-
Episode 9-
Listen, you never plan to retire or to tell your husband you're going to be able to do whatever he wants after this one last mission/jump. That's when things go wrong.
Time travel or alternate universe? Find out next time!
Episode 10-
Time for a character roundup! on the axes of interesting and likeability...
Lorca- Interesting character if a little cliche, unlikeable. 9/10
Burnham- Interesting character, likeable. 10/10
Saru- Interesting, undecided. 7/10
Tyler- I don't think I like him much. 5/10
Tilly- Not particularly interesting, but likeable and relatable. 10/10
Georgiou- Interesting, likeable, badass, but -1 point for being dead. 99/10
Admiral- Not particularly interesting yet, but has potential. Undecided. 6/10
It's interesting that they have evasive maneuver patterns... It seems like a waste of a good pilot's instincts. The way that the captain has to decide which pattern to use, relay it to the pilot, the pilot has to recall what motions to take for that pattern, and then enact it feels like it would take precious seconds that might be better used in a "It doesn't matter what you do as long as you do something" reaction.
Alternate universe it is!
Michael's hair is always excellent.
Man I knew there was something still shady about Tyler. Fuckin Manchurian Candidate. Dude is not ready to be doing any of what he's trying to do. "I need you to trust me." No. You can't trust yourself, how are you going to expect anyone else to trust you? Tyler and Lorca both, man. Making decisions to protect themselves that can (and certainly will) put others in danger.
Hey Terran Empire, that's the same as the Enterprise's alternate universe.
Hah Tilly's captain. Talk as little as possible. That might be a problem.
And then Lorca does a Scottish voice for the Engineer. :joy: that a Scotty reference?
I like the way they actually show the tech that (as far as i know) got handwaved in other shows. The change of the Discovery's designation by robot, the synthesizing of uniforms and ranks. It makes it feel more scifi vs scifantasy.
Heh they specifically test for Manchurian/brainwashing stuff.
The weird half bob of Tilly's is... interesting.
Damn that was a line... "If you talked to me like that I would cut out your tongue and use it to lick my boots."
OH SHIT. That's not cool! You can't kill the gays.
I don't like the gender neutral 'sir' and I'm not really sure why.
Aww that was the guy I liked? Connor? I didn't recognize him :joy: I didn't actually look at him for long before he died the first time.
lol Tyler and Michael fucking while Lorca gets tortured. Way to make it quick, y'all.
Episode 11
Oh no... they're going to think that Stamets killed him :(
Is that Starfleet assigned/synthesized lingerie or is it Empire? :joy:
Sparing Saru from knowing his counterpart is a slave who waits on her in this universe. :sob:
(I just realized that where Enterprise was bloodless and nobody was Really Dead, I had no hesitation to believe Culbert was dead.)
They changed the way Andorians look (and sound) too?
I don't... I don't know if I don't like this thing with Tyler because he's not convincing? Or if I don't like the arc itself? I'm not sure.
Now that's an interesting moral quandary. The easy route is to let the Terrans execute him- he's a threat and a murderer. But is it 'right'?
UNBURY your gays.
Heh... I called that one. beam him out just in time to beam him aboard the Discovery. Oh nice, she got the chip out too! I didn't see that one coming.
Ha! The Emperor. I kinda figured (how could it not be if Burnham was captain of Shenzou and they wouldn't say who the emperor was), but man what a gut punch for her.
I forget where to put it now, but the Defiant... is that the one that the mirror!Enterprise found in that docking bay? The time fuckery ontop of the parallel universes has my head spinning, especially since I wasn't closely watching ENT.
Episode 12
I didn't like the mirrorverse episodes of Enterprise- they were both too dark for the show they were in and yet not dark enough to be believable.
I do like this arc, though. It feels like it has the right weight and other than the Tyler plot, it feels believable and consistent. The characters are interacting with the world in consistent, believable ways. Maybe it was because in Enterprise, we were watching actors in different characters?
Fixing Stamets and the only way home while also pretending to be a bloodthirsty captain is a lot of pressure for a cadet.
omg. Have my ganglia :joy:
idk why I forgot about what happened to Voq. I guess I assumed he died.
I was trying to figure out why they couldn't pick between turning Klingon into human or overlaying the Klingon personality into Tyler, but I guess I misunderstood. They overlaid TYLER ontop of the Klingon turned human. Man that's complicated.
How weird it must be to hear the man you loved died... from him.
UNBURY THAT GAY.
Ew- a father 'turned more'?
Oh what the fuck. Ok this one I didn't see coming. Wow. I'm impressed. His ruthlessness. His pulling the puppet strings of fate. The light sensitivity. It's rare that I don't have an inkling of a well-designed twist. Well played.

Ten-10 for Pen-pen
Got another 10 in the pike for y'all. Which, to think of it. Why pike? Who puts anything in a fish? Aside from fish food? i guess?
youtube
Talked about this a few weeks back. Short. Sweet. Well, mostly sweet? It's mostly just short, to be honest.
youtube
There are some really nice set pieces in this one, yeah. Loved all the giant zombie-ghosty things. The castle, itself, is a really nicely done environment, tho' i feel like the cameras are really a touch to herky-jerky at times. Gameplay was fun enough, even if a few bits don't totally gel; that bouncy floor bit really didn't quite work for me. The major fly in the ointment is the "This Is Halloween" or whatever it's called playing on loop the whole damned level. Even if it were a good song (and this version of it definitely is not), it just can't sustain 7minutes about of gameplay.
youtube
It's funny how you'll never hear of a creator, and then you blink and suddenly they're everywhere? And they're actually really good? This one is not a perfect recreation of Skulldozer, but it approximates it quite well, while putting its own spin on the proceedings. i am always a little bit wary of the Temple as a level kit, 'cause it feels a little bit of a kind of way towards Indian (subcontinent India, that is, not Native American) folx? i don't know. It's not my place to get angry about it, but it does tend to ping my "is this going to be gross?" radar. Anyways, Joja28 has a tonne of levels, and they all seem to have come out fairly recently, and they're all pretty good. i hope i didn't make that sound suspicious, because it isn't really. Sometimes folx just get on a whole tear in create mode.
youtube
This is another one, like the Snake Temple level above, that got picked up for a Team Pick right after i recorded, but before the episode went live. Hate that. This one's really fun to look at, but not quite as much to engage wiv. If you get out of the score bubble sections, it's really difficult to get back up, so you're just stuck on the boat forever watching the level go by. But the level does, at least, look nice, and it has a lot of character; it just feels really long when you can't engage wiv it.
youtube
The first of Chronos' Neon Dimension series, and already just strong right out the gate. Can we step back and appreciate this was made 12 dang years ago? Chronos was just a wee babby. And he just throws this together, like, oh, yeah, i just had this in my back pocket. i remember playing this the first time and thinking how cool it was that the level just kind of put itself together as i went. That was my benchmark for "is this level really special" for a couple of years when i first started reviewing, and it came from seeing it the first time done well here.
youtube
i think this might be my favourite "HARD" levels, tho it doesn't really bill itself the way those ones do (seriously, a lot of them just have hard in all-caps right in the title). This one's really tricky, and some bits take a fair amount of finesse, but it never feels unfair, and it never feels like it's rushing you along before you're ready. Add to that an excellent presentation, an extremely chill vibe, and a great choice of music, and you've got a real masterclass in level design. i tell you, no lie, i was so proud to beat this one way back in the day.
youtube
Yooo... what is this even? It is so fluid! The animation, it's like, i know it was done in LBP3, but i don't think i've ever seen anyone pull off something that looked quite as good or as well-done as this. The creator said on the title page they might or might not have gotten around to finishing it, but they were publishing it anyways just to have what was completed out there. i'm not familiar wiv the song, so i can't say yay or nay to that; but what we did get is honestly really special.
youtube
We're not also posting this to the subreddit, so i can say more honestly how i feel about this level. Fuck this level. Fuck it right in the ear wiv a big metal dick. Gods. This was actually anti-fun. It actually went out and removed fun from the world. It probably shit on a baby's ice cream while i was playing it, powered by my deep frustration and loathing.
youtube
There are some cute touches in this one, even if i don't feel like it really needed to be as long as it was. i really liked the skiiers and their bits of animation. The setting had a bit more pop in colour than we usually see in snow-themed levels, and i appreciated that as well. But, to be honest, there isn't really too much that sticks out in my mind either? i know that's kind of shitty, but there you go.
youtube
Tell you what, i was not expecting this level to be like this. Like, i've played LaDIDa72's levels before, and they can be tricky, but they always felt tricky in spite of themselves, you know? Like, a little playtesting and polish and they'd work better? i guess i didn't realize that street goes both ways. You can take wonky bits and polish them to be harder. This has got some of the fiddliest, most bullshite platforming i've played in a while and i loved it? It never felt unfair, just always just barely not do-able, and that makes all the difference. Plus, there's little that's dependent on things outside your control, and that, i feel like, is super important to keep players engaged wiv this kind of level. Make someone feel like the fuck up is on their end, and they will beat their heads into the wall trying to get past it, but let them think for a moment that the fuck up was on you as a creator, and they will bounce right out. It super helps this level is pretty as fuck. Like it is just super pretty. Which is half the reason i wasn't expecting it to be a hard level. A lot of times those are just dogshit ugly. Fun fact! i can't watch this video on my own YouTube channel thanks to Song 2 being in the level. Thanks a fucking lump Sony Music Japan! You're total fucking peaches!
---------------------
So that's another ten off the top then. Your usual mix of good, bad, and ugly, but alright enough for all that. It feels like it's becoming my day off refrain, but i got stuff done today, but not what i needed, and not what i wanted. Well, a few things i needed, but not, like, needed-needed, you know?

Headcanons/Thoughts on Final Fantasy XIV Races
I was going to make a little intro passage about summarizing about how I love the character creation and the races, but I'm impatient as heck to do that. SO LET'S JUST JUMP IN!
Miqo'tes
(The catgirls/catboys)
I honestly wish these guys leaned more into the cat features: for example, the male Miqo'tes have those markings beside their nose. What if we have given make-up/ tattoos just for their races?
Tumblr media
See how there's white under their eyes— kinda like eyeliner; something like would be cool! Although, I don't know if there's already something like that in the tattoo section...
There's another thing for this race( and honestly other races) is to have an opinion for vitiligo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's so many people in the world with vitiligo, so why not? Oooooh, also— you know how these cats have all these designs in their coats? What if, we could put that on the Miqo'tes. It would be on their ears and tail, but extra points if it can bleed into their hair.
Last thing, the marking on the guys: it would be really, really cool if we can control how dark it is. Also... to allow us to put that one the girls too😢.
Lalafells
( The potatoes)
I really only have two ideas. One, what if they're closer in relations with Elezens than Hyurs; two, there's a chance of any race to have a Lalafell kid. Ok, ok, ok— I know the last one is really out there, BUT HEAR ME OUT! I am, however, givinf y'all a heads-up: I am no gene-wise, so most of what I say will sound like bullshit. Which, in all honesty, probably is.
So, for that to be possible, that would mean Lalafells share a common gene among everyone. With how I thinking, it's probably a rare recessive gene. Moving on— the idea is that any race can have a Lalafell baby, but there is a twist. That being the baby will share racial features of the parents.
If they don't share a race, then the baby will favor either the mom or dad. I got that idea from this FF14 theory video by The Eorzean Archive— y'all should check them out!
They have excellent videos on looking on the world of 14. They're definitely better than me coming with a theories; I'm literally duck-taping ideas together🤣!
The idea of Elezern and Lalafell being closer in relations than Hyur is another one of my duck-tape idea. It's really just me looking at the two races and go, "hey! They have long ears!" It's just— to me— it easier to make that connection to Lalafell due to that: besides, Hyur really only get connected to their round ears and hight. If that's really at that takes, then the roes should be connected.
Au Ra
(How to Train your Dragon)
While cutting close to Lalafells, these little lizards are my favorite! I only have to things in mind when I think about these guys: child-development and skincare...scalecare?Look, look, look— the skincare is kinda random, but when you get into skincare (or at least enough to take care of your own), then y'all wounder too! Do they have to take carw of their scale like skin?
There seriously can be a whole line of beauty care for just their scales! Is your scale oily, dry, or is it just not getting that shine you want? Dude— ache. Imagine, how bad it hurts, if they get one in-between a scale. Ouch.
So, the child-development is mostly focusing on the growth of their horns. Thank to StormBlood, we know they have them in, what looks like, 7-10 years old.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just wounder if they have their horn from birth, which ouch— again. Their mothers will probably never recover.
What if they're like deers: they just grow as Au Ra ag5e? That one seems pretty close. Those things probably hurt like wisdom teeth, but longer. There's also the scales, but I can 80% see they're born with them. It's kinda hard and, not to mention, painful if not.
But yeah! That's pretty everything; I hope it's not boring as I think it is... or too long. Which, it probably is😅.
Side note: I own none of these pics, found them through google. I didn't look for links— whoops. I might make another post like this, if there's people interested.

Oh yeah I'm in a music psychology class and our first assignment (afaik) was to make a short presentation on six songs that describe our lives. I wanted to share those, so here y'all go
This sounds like the woods to me, and those were a fundamental part of my childhood and a big influence in how I see the world. Also I really wanted to sneak a bit of dronescape (or dronescape adjacent) music into there lmao
My fucked up journey with my gender identity. It was. An Interesting phase. I'm not super proud of it, but it was a very chaotic time for me in a lot of ways. I was suffering with severe dysphoria, and since I didn't know why, I blamed everybody else. Throw in a few really toxic friends and influences I had, and. Yeah. Good song though lmao
Internet trauma go brrrrrrr. This is very much one of two (2) medias that I feel reflect what the internet is most clearly (the other one being Bolavlk by sournoodl). Fun song and describes a huuuuge portion of my trauma.
Threw this one in for a lot of reasons. Mainly, this song is an excellent tribute to horror as a genre (especially horror films), and horror has been the most influential genre for me. Highkey began with an interest in Creepypastas as a middle schooler, which turned into fucked up creature design, which turned into horror movies and other media. Harley Poe has some excellent horror songs.
This one is just very mecore, especially like. Post-trauma, and currently after I've had a lot of emotions tied to my trauma unrepress themselves. It speaks to my impulsiveness, this almost manic mask I put on in public, my intrusive thoughts, and the pervasive feeling of fundamental isolation from humanity (or at least general society). I feel like I've become something unrecognizable from the person I used to be, and I often feel very inhuman for it.
And this one is here because it's been a comfort song for me since I was around 15. It's lovely, and it also catapulted me into more experimental and undefined genres of music. It still makes me happy to hear, and I know most of the lyrics by heart.
I just got my classes figured out btw, after missing. An entire Week of class. So I'm catching up lmao. Thankfully there isn't too much. This presentation and an assignment for graphic storytelling analyzing Marvel and DC comics are the only two assignments I have. Everything else is just reading some class PowerPoints, documents, and segments of books. I just hope it's not too chaotic when I show up to class lmao. Hopefully I'll leave a good impression from preemptively doing all of the current assignments lmao
#i'm discussing black panther for my marvel vs dc assignment btw#the professor had us read an article discussing the fundamental differences of marvel superheroes and dc superheroes#and the assignment involves picking a superhero and talking about which comic brand they fall under according to those “rules”#i picked black panther because he really seems a lot more like a dc superhero according to all that#which i found interesting#currently reading rise of the black panther to get a better idea of the plot (since we have to summarize their origin story)#is good#i do really like marvel's panel design in their comics#classic and very dynamic#plus t'challa and wakanda as a whole are really interesting#sorry that was a Ramble#my other classes are this one discussing monsters in all their forms and another about middle eastern religions#should be fun 😤#nice and easy since i'm transferring to another school after this semester LMAO#gonna go to a local community college that specializes in animation and video game design#they have some REALLY good programs#like half the people who were in my highschool animation program go to that college#and everybody i've talked to has all good things to say about it#plus it's like 2k per semester instead of 6k-8k 😭#this school is fucking terrible omg. they were advertised as having an excellent animation program. get here and they're cutting it#plus a LOT of other shit. one day i'll make a post about it#but ANYWAYS#spotify#music#miracle musical#harley poe#mother mother#bo burnham#dewey martino#marina

Yes, I'm satisfied and happy. Very much so, to see Vikings and Goths and Mormons All working together for common goal. It allowed me to focus more attention to Music and improve me Sound and spend Time with u. 😊 I prefer EMGs, these Sound excellent so I won't gut them. Just sayin picc ups are not what drew me to her. Making Music with all u different women is incredible and I thank u for it but, y'all never agree what to Tune to make me change me Tune many Times bad for necc on me ladies. Multi Scale like this really eliminates that problem and allows me to Tune to all the different things y'all like without damage to necc or inconsistent string tension... which frustrates me if string gets too loose when dropped Tuned n it can piss me off if it's bad enough. I Tune Brooklyn to anything I want so far n she just purr n growl depending on what I do 😜 Also since she so light I can jump higher and have more Energy to give world. I kept Nyx. I enjoy her. Just, whoever designed her I imagine designed her for some huge dude as heavy as she is. Brooklyn body feel made for me. Dropped Tunings and Metal were in mind when this Lady was designed. Is what drew me to this particular model and it wasn't available in Blue then. So the wait allowed me to get in this Blacc n Blue. Fire 🔥 Extremely happy, thanks for all u did to make the day as cool as it was 😘

Y'all I just started listening to The Left Right Game podcast on a recommendation from a friend and it's AMAZING so far. Excellent voice acting, absolutely incredible sound design and a super cool concept. It's only 10 episodes so it's also not a crazy commitment

Okay, I got a question for y'all about Security Breach...
Why do you guys like Sundrop and Moondrop so much? What is it about these two that make you fall in love with them? I know I sound kinda judgemental, but no, I'm genuinely curious. I ask because, unlike a good majority of fans, I couldn't see the appeal for Sundrop/Moondrop. Not to hate on their character design, the voice acting, or animation in any way (it's all excellent!).
It's like the same thing for Spamton from Deltarune, Bruno from Encanto, and Max from Freelance Police. Is Tumblr just... really into scrawny and (almost) downright insane dudes? Or am I just not seeing the bigger picture here?

Hello, hello! This week, we are going on a little:
Home Tour!
Notes: Answer the following with pictures (dialogue from your characters is optional!). Collages are highly encouraged if you want to answer a question with multiple pictures because tumblr mobile only allows 10 total pics. Otherwise, tumblr on a desktop lets you add multiple pictures (non-beta)!
For both:
What does the outside of the home look like? (Front/back yard, garden, pool, etc)
Living room and home office (if any)?
Kitchen and dining room?
Bedrooms? (Master, guest, others)
Other rooms?
Do you own your dream home? If not, what does that dream home look like?
What is your favorite room to spend time in with each other?
Super super late to this, because of my stupid exam but now we are here so let's go! 💃🏽🏠
A/N : I am placing this two years and seven months after the wedding, because I HC Ethan and Meera staying at Ethan's apartment for two years after the wedding and they only start house hunting when they have the baby talk and start trying for a baby. So technically not newlyweds anymore. Now let's get started! ✨
Meera opens the door and greets Bree.
Meera : Hii Bree, welcome to our humble abode.
Bree (chuckles) : This place is anything but humble. I hope I am not causing much trouble.
Meera : Absolutely not. Who else is going to make me feel like a youtuber?
Both laugh, Ethan joins and greets Bree.
Bree : Congratulations on the good news Dr. Ramsey. How far are y'all?
Ethan : Thank you Bree. It's been 3 months already.
Meera (cradling her small bump) : Yup one trimester down two more to go.
Ethan (kissing her forehead) : And then there will be a mini version of you running around these halls.
Meera : Nope it's gonna be a mini you.
The couple shares a look as if challenging each other.
Meera : Fine, Bree, whose team are you on? Do you think it'll be a boy or a girl?
Bree : I am happy with either because at the end I'll be interviewing him or her too.
The three of them share a laugh.
Bree : Let's get started, shall we?
Ethan : Sure.
What does the outside of the home look like? (Front/back yard, garden, pool, etc)
Front :
Tumblr media
Meera : We were looking for something modern yet chic, something that is totally us. I fell in love with the design whereas Ethan was in total awe of the open space and glass doors. Needless to say our heart was stuck on this no matter how many more houses we visited.
Backyard :
Tumblr media
Ethan : The backyard also doubles up as the garden but it's not quite completed yet.
Meera : Yes it's been two months since we moved, and we haven't been able to work on the garden because of work and the pregnancy. Ethan : But we want to build a garden with a tree house and maybe some swings.
Meera (too excited) : Ohh swings! Yes please add it onto the list. Why didn't I think of it before?
Pool :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meera : Definitely my favorite part!
Ethan : She is a water baby through and through so that's no surprise.
Meera : Don't act like you don't appreciate me in a swimsuit, Ramsey (winks)
Ethan : There is no denying that.
Living room and home office (if any)?
Living room :
Tumblr media
Ethan : Meera was hell bent on having an L-shaped couch.
Meera : Those things are so bougie I had to have one because now I can finally afford one. But yeah the living room is so relaxing with a beautiful view of the outside.
Home office :
Tumblr media
Meera : Honestly speaking, I do not understand the utility of a home office, I didn't understand back at his apartment neither do I understand now. If I am supposed to work from home I can do that on the couch or on my bed or even better on the daybeds by the pool.
Ethan (shaking his head) : You'll get it darling. When you start your maternity leave I'll see how you make zoom calls with the pool as your background.
Meera shrugs.
Kitchen and dining room?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meera : This part was all Ethan so I'll let him do the talking.
Ethan (proudly) : A Poggenpohl kitchen with a granite-topped island adds an ultramodern touch. Glass shelves display colorful glassware convenient to the wet bar. A translucent sliding glass door below the shelves hides the more utilitarian gadgets. And finally playful mod pendant lights seem to levitate over the dining table, which is meant to resemble a river running through the woods.
Meera : You sure you didn't miss your true calling as an interior designer babe?
Ethan (smirks) : Nope, just the fact that I tend to excel at everything I do, Rookie.
Meera : And that makes you 10 times hotter!
Bedrooms? (Master, guest, others)
Master bedroom :
Tumblr media
Meera : The bedroom has a different color scheme and tone from the rest of the house because I wanted it to stand out and break the monotone.
Ethan : Again the chandelier was Meera's opinion.
Meera : Finding common ground between his minimalistic taste and mine was difficult but we made it through.
Master Bathroom :
Tumblr media
Ethan : Meera I don't think it was necessary to bring Bree in here.
Meera : It was absolutely necessary! Just look at this tub Bree! The bubbles and champagne dates we have here are a total hit.
Guest rooms :
Tumblr media
Ethan : We have two guest rooms and both are styled the same way, but unfortunately we haven't had any guests yet.
Meera : Is it unfortunate Dr. Ramsey? Bryce is just a call away from crashing here.
Ethan (pinching the bridge of his nose) : Anyone but Lahela.
Meera : We haven't thought about the baby's room yet. But we have the nursery now.
Ethan : Yes, maybe we'll turn the nursery into a bedroom or one of the guest rooms in a few years. Let's see.
Nursery :
Tumblr media
Meera : This was completed just yesterday hence the delay in the interview, Bree.
Ethan : We decided to keep the gender of the baby a surprise so we went with a gender neutral nursery that matches the colour scheme of the house.
Meera : Also because Ethan Ramsey would rather die than paint the walls of his house pink and blue.
Ethan (rolls eyes)
Other rooms?
Home library :
Tumblr media
Meera (takes in the smell of books) : Better known as my safe haven.
Ethan : This was absolutely non-negotiable for Meera.
Meera : We both own a lot of books and the collection keeps on increasing now with the baby incoming. And look at this reading space. It's from my dreams.
Ethan : This is tucked away in a far corner of the house and is the most serene place around here. Once, I returned home from the hospital and called out to Meera a hundred times, she didn't answer, I started panicking and then found her silently sitting here in her own world.
Meera : If I ever go missing please check here before running to the police, because once I am in here I forget the existence of the world.
Bree picks up "Peppa pig's super noisy Sound Book" which was kept on a thick medical journal with a smile.
Ethan feels embarrassed but Meera laughs.
Meera : Yes these are the new ones in our collection. Ethan was reading it to the baby before you arrived.
Home Bar :
Tumblr media
Ethan : The wine cellar grew into a home mini bar because we had this unused space left.
Meera : He loves showing this and his collection off.
Ethan : Excuse me! If I remember correctly your friends were very impressed as well.
Meera : True that. Bryce went bat shit crazy during the housewarming party. He said he felt he got back his bartending days.
Ethan (proudly) : And Jackie's exact words for that evening's toast was "to hell with Donahue's"
Meera : Yeah yeah, you did a great job honey. Also the more surfaces the better for us.
Ethan : Keep it PG for the love of God.
Meera (shrugs) : Pregnancy hormones.
Bree (points) : And that?
Ethan (facepalms) : The only thing that doesn't match with the vibe here.
Tumblr media
Meera : Nonsense! It was a housewarming gift from my friends and I absolutely love it. Ethan just feels it is a cheaper and juvenile version of his favourite game, soccer. But don't worry Bree, I'll get him to play someday.
Ethan (smirk) : I would very much like to see you try Dr. Ramsey-Bose.
Meera : And I'll see how you say no when your son asks.
Ethan : It's gonna be a daughter.
Meera : We'll see.
Do you own your dream home? If not, what does that dream home look like?
Ethan : For the majority of my life home for me was a structure of bricks and cement with a ceiling but Meera was the one who brought all the love and light and showed me what a real home felt like. So for me, my home is where my heart is and for this lifetime it's kept safe with this gorgeous woman whom I fortunately call my wife.
Silence lasts for a couple of minutes then Meera snorts.
Meera (drying her eye) : Damn you pregnancy hormones, I am not even wearing waterproof mascara. It was super cheesy Ethan, a non pregnant me would have definitely called you out on your cheese but this pregnant Meera has to agree with you. Even a stable is my dream home if I have my dream husband with me. (she kisses Ethan) but I wouldn't mind a Jacuzzi, a home theatre, a game room (laughing)
Ethan (an easy smile on his face) : Always knew you were in it because of the money Bose.
What is your favorite room to spend time in with each other?
Meera : The library. Just him reading to our unborn child like he isn't already the most perfect man in the world.
Ethan (a very satisfied smile on his face) : First I am very surprised that you kept it PG. So the obvious answer is the bedroom but other than that, the patio, which is not a room though.
Tumblr media
Ethan : Meera has a slight deficiency in vitamin D so to avoid complications, we spend a lot of time here in the sun. We play board games, read and even discuss work here sometimes.
Meera : Ooh yes! This was another great investment and a great way to utilise the humongous outdoor space we have.
Ethan : I hope you had fun Bree. Thank you so much for doing this.
Tumblr media

~~~~~~
It was the middle of the semester, a busy time for any student who was looking to do well before finals and then break. It was integral that one studied for the midterms at UA, mainly because they were that much more grueling than those at a regular high school
Which was why you had been holed up in the library for nearly three days straight, only leaving for bathroom breaks or the occasional snack. You had two classes that you needed to do well in for midterms, and you weren't about to take any chances with them.
Being in the support course was barely any different than being in the hero course. The only notable difference was the lack of real-world fighting that anyone in the hero course did compared to the support course, but the classes were just as tough.
You were near the top of your class, but being near the top wasn't enough. You often strived for perfection only to fall short just by a small margin and get beat out by the best of your peers. This frustrated you, so you aimed to get the top marks during midterms and really skyrocket to the front of your class.
Izuku Midoriya was similar to you in mindset, but he knew he wouldn't get to the very top of his class. There were plenty of smart kids in his homeroom, but he still wanted to get at least top five in his specific class.
Which was why he was also holed up in the library, though not as much as you had been. He kept it as casual as he could, studying here and there but not necessarily learning anything new about the topics. The boy took scrupulous notes.
One particular day, blame it on the burnout if you will, you just couldn't keep your focus on the notes and books in front of you. It was nearly the end of day three of living in the library at UA, and you were starting to feel it. The weight under your eyes, the burning feeling from barely blinking, your stomach rumbling at the thought of a late dinner. You couldn't do the best on your tests if you didn't take care of yourself first, so you had to get up to stretch and grab something from the vending machine.
Being the only other person in the room, Midoriya couldn't help it when his eyes caught onto your movements as you left the immediate library space. His gaze traveled to your table just across the room from him.
Midoriya had seen you around before. You were in the support course, number three overall. And that was impressive to him. Many kids were in the support course, so being in the top three was quite the accomplishment.
He had never spoken to you directly, but he wasn't a stranger to who you were: [Y/N] [Y/L/N]. Third best in support, amazing strategic skills, outstanding marks in the entrance exam, charismatic personality. What's not to admire?
You came back into the room and plopped down in your chair, opening up a bag of a snack Midoriya couldn't see from this distance and popping a piece in your mouth. You settled yourself in again to read entries from the textbook in front of you, but you felt eyes on you.
Looking up, you locked gazes with the boy across the room. He hadn't seemed to notice he was staring, so you sheepishly smiled and gave a small wave. Almost immediately he snapped out of it, going red and burying his nose back into the book on his own table. You smiled gently to yourself, still looking at him.
You knew him; everyone in UA did. If you didn't, you weren't paying attention to literally anything going on. Izuku Midoriya wasn't someone to scoff at when it came to hero work. You understood the difference between you and him, maintaining your distance pretty well over the last year. He wasn't someone you for sure wanted to know, but he had his fair share of secrets you were interested in.
You looked around the room and confirmed no one else was there but the two of you. What was the need to be quiet, then?
"Midoriya, right?" You spoke up. He looked up, surprised at your sudden voice. After a second, he cleared his throat and nodded, face going slightly pink.
"Y-Yeah. [Y/L/N], isn't it?" He replied. You would be lying if you said you weren't shocked he even knew your name. You nodded, closing the textbook in front of you having lost all interest in midterms for the time being.
"It is," you smiled. "What brings you here for the second time in a row?"
"Midterms," Midoriya chuckled, shifting his attention to you as well. "You?"
"Same boat," you shrugged. There was a beat of silence. "How do you know me?"
"Well-Well I don't, really," Midoriya rubbed the back of his neck, looking off to the side, "but I've heard of you. In the support course. Top three."
"Amazing observation," you said, actually impressed. "I'd be stupid not to know who you are. Everyone knows who you are."
"Apparently so," Midoriya said. Another beat of silence.
"What are you studying?" He asked. You glanced at your textbook and piles of paper.
"Costume mechanics. Boring shit."
"Sounds fun, actually."
"What are you studying?"
"Emergency strategies."
"God, talk about a snooze-fest," you laughed out. Midoriya cracked a smile. Another beat.
"What's, uh, what's your quirk?" Midoriya cleared his throat a second time.
"Breaking up machines and melding them into whatever I can visualize," you explained. "Cool enough to get into UA, but not cool enough to get into the hero course. I've come to terms with it, though."
"That's pretty useful," Midoriya replied thoughtfully. "It makes sense why you excel so much in support. That's a really cool quirk."
"Thanks," you felt your ears warm. "Yours is super cool, too. Really unique."
"Thank you," he smiled. Your heart skipped a beat at his lopsided grin, but you chalked it up to the exhaustion playing with your mind.
The two of you fell into a bout of silence for another hour until Midoriya packed up his things and bid you goodnight. You kept studying after he left, but your mind wouldn't stop wandering to thoughts of a certain green-haired boy...
•••
Meeting in that small study room in the back corner of the library became ritual for you and Midoriya, even after midterms. When he had a break or wasn't busy, Midoriya would pop his head into your usual room to see if you were there.
And you typically were, though you weren't there to study most of the time. You rarely actually studied for tests, using your time in class lectures to absorb information, so at this point spending time in the study room and doing nothing of substance was more to stall for time that anything else. You would wait for Midoriya to catch a break, enticed by your first interaction.
And the two of you bonded over the weeks, hanging out in the study room to both study and talk about whatever. You had conversations about all the different heroes you idolized, villains he had faced, and hopes for the future of both of your heroic careers. The two of you became fast friends, and it wasn't a secret that perhaps you wished for something more.
You noticed that you began to see Midoriya a little more frequently in the hallways or on breaks. He would pass by and always smile and say hi, cheeks almost always flushing whenever he did so. You also noticed the small things like when he started to sit next to you at your table in the study room, or when he started to bring you books he thought you'd like to read. The way his knees knocked into yours mid conversation, or how he always asked how your day went. All of this just made you fall harder for the boy.
One day, you were in the study room and looking at the shelves of books lining the walls, looking for a particular research study about the effectiveness of aesthetic in costume design. You were assigned a paper on it earlier in the day and wanted to get a head start on it.
Midoriya popped his head into your usual spot, initially frowning at your absence but then brightening up when he saw your bag and books set at your table. He set his own down next to it and scanned the room for you.
Seeing movement behind some shelves, Midoriya trotted over to the tall shelves and pulled out a book in front of you, revealing his smiling face. You jumped slightly, but sighed in relief when you saw who it was.
"Thank you for scaring the crap out of me, Midoriya," you shook your head, continuing to look for the book. "Gimme a second, I'll be over soon."
"What are you looking for?" Midoriya asked, gliding around the corner and joining you on the other side of the bookshelf. His eyes scanned over your profile, noticing the way your fingers tapped your chin as you searched.
"A book for my research paper," you mumbled. "I had one in mind and it should be- Damn," you sighed, "it's on the top shelf."
"Oh, here," Midoriya craned his neck to look at the top. "Which one?"
"The one with the blue binding," you pointed. Midoriya wasn't too much taller than you, but he had some reach. He steadied himself on the shelf and stretched to the top, grabbing the book and handing it down to you.
When he grounded himself, he was closer than before. Close enough that you caught a whiff of his cologne and could see the flecks of color in his eyes. Close enough that you could reach out and run your fingers along his freckles--
"Here," he breathed out, holding the book to you. "Got it."
"Thanks," you said softly, taking it from him and glancing down shyly. Your eyes made their way back to his, him looking at you intently.
"We should, um--" Midoriya started, but broke off and cleared his throat. "You should get started...on your paper."
"I should," you said, with no intention of moving. You felt your heart pounding in your chest and realized that you were now close enough to hear his own heartbeat over the sound of yours. Midoriya swallowed thickly, face gradually turning red.
"Your eyes are really nice," he said. You smiled at his shy compliment, setting the book in your hands on an empty spot in the shelf next to you.
"You're one to talk," you grinned. This just made Midoriya's face go brighter as he looked away nervously.
"I-I don't want to sound too forward or anything, so stop me if I am, but..."
There were a few seconds of silence between the two of you, Midoriya looking like he was turning an idea over and over in his mind. Intense silence that only grew as your heartbeat got faster. You started to lean in, looking at his eyes then his lips, then his eyes again and--
"[Y/N]?"
You jumped back, peering through the books to see one of your friends looking around the study room. Frowning, you looked at Midoriya apologetically before popping your head around the corner and smiling at your friend.
"Yeah? What's up?"
"You forgot one of your textbooks in class," she said, producing it from behind her back. "Thought I'd drop it off."
"Oh, thank you," you smiled. "Just leave it by my stuff."
When you turned back around, Midoriya was gone. Your heart dropped at the sight, worried that you had frightened him off. Had you read the room wrong? Were you just that desperate that you had overstepped a boundary? Did he hate you now? Think you were overbearing?
You sighed and picked your book back off the shelf next to you, walking forward to round the bookshelf and get back to your studying. Just as you stepped into the aisle, a hand grabbed your forearm and twirled you around so your back was up against the wall.
Blinking up, you saw those familiar flecked eyes and freckles of Midoriya staring down at you, a new confidence in them that wasn't there before. Your racing heart started up again, hands coming to your side free of the book you were holding before.
"Before we get interrupted again, can I..." he trailed off, searching your eyes and flicking down to your lips. "Can I kiss you?"
Your breath hitched in your throat as you smiled, nodding.
"I thought you'd never ask," you said, leaning up and meeting him halfway.
It was soft and sweet as Midoriya slid his hands around your waist and secured you against him. His lips were soft and knew what they were doing. Your back arched off the flat of the wall as you wrapped your hands around his neck, moving with him.
He didn't overstep anything without asking, being tentative with each hand placement and going slow if you had a point in which you wanted to stop. His fingertips grazed the edges of your shirt as his hands moved to your hips, dancing over slivers of skin. Your hands found their way into the mess of green hair atop his head, curling your fingers into the soft locks as he chuckled against your lips.
It was bliss; soft and reassuring and comfortable. Your chest warmed at his thoughtfulness and care, causing you to push into him a little harder. He reciprocated easily, keeping you close to the wall while also having a tight hold on you himself.
With one last twist of your fingers in his hair, you pulled away. Midoriya, eyes half-open as you ended it, chased after your lips, smiling.
"You have no idea how long I wanted to do that for," he muttered, eyes widened now and looking into yours with a softness that just made your heart melt.
"I'm glad you finally did," you smirked, nuzzling your nose against his, "or else I would've had to have a serious intervention."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He pulled away further, a playful look in his eye. You just laughed and pulled yourself toward him, pecking him on the lips again.
"You worry too much."
After thinking it over for a bit, I've decided that I might as well do a proper underrated 3DS game rec list. I'm a bit of an ATLUS junkie and that's gonna be pretty disgustingly apparent in this list, but it's not my fault that they released hit after hit and all of them were duly ignored.
Due to tumblr's 10 image limit (and my struggle to keep motivated to do one thing for more than three hours) I'm definitely gonna have to break this up into parts and I'm fairly certain one of these lists is just gonna be MegaTen games lmao but I'd like to let people know about these excellent titles and see if I can't at least get people interested in them so they can get more traction.
So, without further ado:
Some 3DS Games that were criminally slept on (part 1)
Monster Hunter Stories
Tumblr media
God, where do I begin with this game. Well, the basics: It's a JRPG spinoff title of the now widely successful and popular Monster Hunter series featuring a different take on interacting with the varied and intricate monsters populating the world: Riders.
Yep, instead of hunting the beasties, you play as a young rider who's completed their intiation ritual and can now bond with 'Monsties' as they've cutely labelled the usually ferocious monsters of the wilds. The great thing is that you still fight Monsters--tons of them in fact but this isn't a paid review and in my humble opinion, the most impressive thing about this game is the visual style. The landscapes, the armour, the way they redesigned and 3DS-ified the classically hyper realistic and monstrous beasts to not only be absolutely adorable but still capable of being intimidating when the time calls for it, the stellar animation of special moves and combination attacks--it's delicious, nutritious, stupendous, I can and will consume it like it's part of my recommended caloric intake.
It's very akin to Pokemon in the way its basic gameplay premise is set up, however, instead of catching--or even indeed befriending--the Monsties in the game, you rummage through their nests and steal their eggs, later hatching them and getting yourself a brand new lightly kidnapped monster pal!
Other general things about the game:
Pros:
The armour and weapon sets for both male and female characters slap along with the general character customisation options. They're incredibly diverse (though limited in body type) and you can switch around traits and features whenever you want from your house.
The POGS--these porkers are everywhere and they serve as tiny little achievements for exploring every odd and end of the world. Also they have little outfits. They're so cute. 🥺🥺
You can actually ride the Monsties. All of em. Or, at least the ones that you have available to be your buddies. They all have exploration skills and traits that not only make exploring much more interesting but encourage you to swap out your active Monstie and play around with your options a bit.
Y'all breeding Monsties is complicated and I live for just how intense and ridiculous you can get with optimal builds for these things.
The story is really competently put together! The characters, character designs and even the internal conflict with your starting trio of characters is really compelling along with the mystery of the blight that's infecting Monsters across the world. It's not anything worth awards but it's compelling and it makes you care about the characters if that's what you're in the market for.
Amazing sound design, expansive world, everything about the presentation of this game oozes that Monster Hunter charm even if the art is cutesier than usual. You'll never get bored of its stellar visual presentation!
Available for around twenty quid on the Google Play store, so if you want, you could actually get the full game on your smartphone or tablet. Note though that it would be a battery nuker.
Cons:
If you're on a regular 3DS, frame rate drops are a given. This game kinda pushes the visual capabilities of the 3DS to its absolute limit--a lot like Okamiden did back on the DS.
One save file :( It's pretty much for the same reason as above but still.
If you're playing as the girl, you can't get male armour and vice versa. Since there's only one save file, you'll never be able to have all of the armour sets in a single playthrough and that's criminal because both of the sets for the genders are absolutely breath-taking, thank you.
I 👏can't 👏make👏my👏 own 👏Palico👏
Multi-player for this game is pretty dead seeing as it's almost five years old by now and never got much press or traction. Usually this wouldn't be an issue - this game is 99% singleplayer and you don't really need to fuss about with multi-player to have fun, but if you want to collect all the Monsties, you'll need it since the only way to get Glavenus is through pvp achievements. :/
Final thoughts: Play it if you find yourself getting tired or disappointed with 3DS Pokemon games but still want something that feels as fantastical as Pokemon. It outshines the 3DS Pokemon games at every turn and I will never be over just how thoughtfully put together and fully realised these games are. Of course, if you've ever played Monster Hunter, then you know just how intensive these games are with the lore, biology, cultures and world of their Monsters but seeing that translated into JRPG format was just very sobering and it's a game that, to this day, continues to awe me with just how much love and attention went into it.
Last note: If you're still unsure about it, there's a demo available on the e-shop of the 3DS that allows you to play through the entire initial area of the game. Your data does carry through to the full release and to give you an idea of how much I've been able to squeeze out of it - my playtime for that demo is currently sitting at 22 hours. Make sure to get a hold of that Cyan-Kut-Ku!
Tumblr media
7th Dragon III Code: VFD
Tumblr media
The title may sound intimidating but the premise is not! A mysterious disease called Dragon Sickness spread by the Dragonsbane flowers that have cropped up all around the world. You and your team are recruited by the Nodens game company after you display extraordinary prowess in their hit virtual reality game 7th Encount. As you go through the adventure, you are tasked with finding out the truth behind the Dragon Sickness and asked to stop both it and the Dragons that are destroying the world.
This game is fun. It's another turn-based JRPG however, in this game you create all of your characters yourself from the myriad of classes available to you from the jump. Different classes of course have very different specialisations - Samurai focus on high powered cutting damage with their swords, Duelists are summoners who can influence the element of the battlefield as well as summon monsters from each element, Agents can hack into your enemies and inflict a barrage of nasty ailments, just to name a few - and you are given three teams of three characters each to experiment with different team comps and find the balance that works for you. There's also a wide variety of Dragons to hunt and kill in the game, which directly affects how infected your world is with the Dragon Sickness causing Dragonsbane. Along the way you will also come into contact with many interesting characters, concepts and confrontations that will make the task of saving the world all the more imperative.
Pros
1. The character creator and differing classes give way for tons of experimenting and playing around with your own unique approach to combat and carrying out your missions. Granted, 'character creation' is generous, it's little more than palatte swaps but the classes are really where VFD shines. Eight main classes may not sound like a lot, but the expaniveness of the character skills, their synergy with their fellow classes and the uniqueness of some of the classes in and of itself allows for so much flexibility and creativity in approaches to even tougher bosses. It also encourages the switching about of your party members to really finagle with the options available to you.
2. God this game is pretty. The locations, the character art, the creature design - all of it is gorgeous and this game capitalises on every bit of the 3DS's presentation limitations as it can.
3. You can romance anything and everyone - yes, you can even be gay/lesbian/poly in this game. In fact, one of the main characters - Julietta - is gnc and he's a constant source of joy as well one of my personal favourite characters, right behind Yuma.
4. Exploration is very very forgiving as the game has healing spots and teleport nodes all over the world to allow for quick, seamless travel between quest points without feeling like anything is too much of a hassle. There are also special enemies that allow for quick grinding as well as quick farming of money. In general, the game does a really good job of making sure that the grind is never unbearable or inconsiderate of your time.
Cons:
1. This is the fourth game in a series the West has never seen any other title for, and from the looks of it, will probably never see any other titles for. Because of that, there are some elements that may seem confusing or revelations in the plot that may seem to come out of nowhere.
2. While the visuals are great, the OST of this one is pretty short making for a lot of reused soundtracks that can get really annoying if you're like me and need your audio to be interesting or consistent so it doesn't distract you too much.
3. This one isn't really a con but it is divisive: This game gets pretty difficult at times. A few of the main dragon enemies including and especially the final boss can give you a serious run for your money in the annoy-o-meter in terms of the kind of absolute JRPG fuckery they can pull out of their magic bag of bullshit movesets and while I generally enjoy that kind of thing, I know it's not for everyone. Most regular combat shouldn't be too tricky once you have a team comp that works well together but you also need to pay attention since the same team that carries you to victory one time might be worth beans against another dragon.
Final thoughts: This is... a really good game. Interesting story, really interesting characters, pretty world and a battle system that really makes you sit down and think. There's also a demo for this available in the e-shop and while your data doesn't carry over - you do receive multiple perks for carrying over your demo data including some exclusive items that, while not game breaking, do help a ton in the early stages of the game.
This isn't a final list by any stretch of the word; I only have the energy to do these two right now, but the next games up for coverage are Ever Oasis and Stella Glow! If you're interested in my full plan of games I want to cover here then my current lineup includes: Theatrhythm: Curtain Call, Project Mirai: Deluxe, Culdecept Revolt, Alliance Alive, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, Etrian Odyssey V, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse.
Finally, if anyone has played any of the games I mention, cover or plan to cover PLEASE REACH OUT TO ME, I AM SO LONELY IN MY FORTRESS OF SAND. On a serious note, I'd love to hear what other people who've played these games think!
Thanks for reading,
-Ginger
PS: @feralpeacock Because a million years ago, on my first underrated games post, you asked that I remember you. :D
Hermit Headcannons
Just a little list of mental things I've come up with for the hermits! Some will have more than others just because I watch them more :)
Cleo:
Can detach her limbs, but doesn't like to because it's a pain to resew them back on
Puts stuff in her ribcage if her inventory is full (and sometimes forgets it's there)
Absolutely baffled by the concept of blood ("you leak?? that's gross")
Seems intimidating but is a big dork
Becomes a drowned/husk when put in the respective environments for long periods of time
Threatening to eat people over small inconveniences is very funny to her and she does it often
Mumbo:
Eyes are a bright red like redstone and glow in the dark
Very tall but decently buff
Has redstone permanently under his nails from using it so much and it never comes out no matter how much he scrubs
(Adding to the above, his suit and hair always has this sort of glittery effect from redstone flakes, shiny boy)
Doesn't understand memes at all. He's the Facebook mom when it comes to vines and references
Maturity level divebombs around Iskall specifically and they become two bickering children when put together
Stress
TINY
Winter is her favorite holiday
Likes to imitate other hermits seemingly at random while doing a grinding task to entertain herself
Steals the other hermits jumpers and adamantly claims they're hers when said hermits come to get them back
Allergic to flowers but refuses to cut them from her enviornment so she sneezes often
Hates the Nether and tries to go there as little as possible
Grian:
Also very tiny
Hollow bones
Gets lonely very easily so pulls pranks on his fellow hermits so they prank him back
Can sing exactly like a bird, and is excellent at mimicking voices/sounds like a parrot
Favorite color is red, just like a hummingbird :)
His elytra feathers poof out when he gets flustered/surprised
Takes damage super easily which is why he's so good at evasive flying
Has a big problem with enclosed spaces which is why he makes his bases huge and expansive
Iskall
Nonbinary!!!!!!
LOVES stimming with slime so tries to incorporate it into absolutely everything
Gives the best hugs on the server
Short king
Joins Stress, Cleo, and False for monthly girl's nights to do each other's nails and gossip
Surprisingly good at delicate work and is constantly requested to do other hermit's hair because of that
Bright green fingernails!!
Sings Swedish nursery rhymes to other hermits when they can't sleep (his voice is very soft and soothing, they're out like a light within minutes)
STRONK
Bdubs
Dad bod
Went a little nuts during the events of the NHO and has that small bit of feral energy because of it
Terrified of the dark and the things inside it.
Very close second for best hugs on the server
Also claustrophobic, so stretches his bases out as much as he can
Unintentional dad to the other hermits
Cuddling MASTER
Has the ability to knock out every hermit on the server but is too nice to ever do that
Loves puzzles and problem solving, which is why he's so good at interior design
Alright this is getting long so I'll end it here! Part 2 if y'all like it :3
Note
I agree with you on the zombie bit, completely. So, you seen the Ultron one yet? It's a doozy!
Hot damn, y'all weren't kidding. I maintain that Ultron looks kinda goofy with Vision's face and HIS PREVIOUS FACE AS A HELM, but otherwise, no notes, it was awesome! Incredible sound design, beautiful visuals - especially Clint's sacrifice and the Multiverse hopping - and it was surprisingly light-hearted at times with Nat and Clint. And letting an actual Age of Ultron scenario happen not just on Earth but the entire universe? Excellent stuff! @the-literary-lord
