An AU where the Ever Free Forest is a lot like the mare in the moon or Discords statue. a trapped immortal entity manifesting in the mortal world in one way or another. All immortal beings when imprisoned have one thing in common, they physically and/or visually affect the world. Like image of a mare manifesting on the moons surface.

Optional additions:

This imprisoned immortal is the deity of the Planet itself. A draconequis like Discord, this deity has been imprisoned inside the earth and the ground zero site of their imprisonment is the ever free forest.

more things happened than just an image of a mare on the moon and discord being turned to stone.

Discords is simple, the immediate area around his statue has a chaotic aura to it. Discords statue affects the immediate area in strange ways and guards have to be swapped frequently through out the day so they don't get affected.

The moon goes through cycles much like the real life moon. the difference being there is no new moon, there is always a moon in the sky. the new moon is replaced by the mare in the moon. when the mare is present on the moons surface nights become more lively with nocturnal creatures, lucid dreams are more possible, and nightmares are more common. and on rare occasions a pony might be able to talk with the mare in the moon herself when in the dream realm asleep. it becomes much more common to talk with her after Luna's release obviously.

Theoretically if Celestia was imprisoned in the sun the side effects would be more severe than with Discord or Luna. Solar flares would be much more common, sun burns more likely to happen, summers unbearably hot, winters are short, autumn and spring basically non existent. Ah shit she's Global warming!

Okay, so I’m not the biggest fan of the mlp x dp crossovers, but I’m still going to rant about both versions of this very neat idea. And when I say “both versions”, I mean the idea of Danny turning into a pony and the very few fics where he doesn’t.

Idea A

Danny keeping his regular human/ghost form leaves so many unexplored possibilities in my opinion, specifically how he’s introduced. It could be a good ol’ accidental summoning or he could be a new friend of Discord’s. With the first one, it could take place anywhere, which means that we could plop him down in the Everfree Forest, the Crystal Empire, Canterlot, Appleloosa (I think I spelled that right), anywhere! With the second, maybe he was trying to escape the GiW as usual and Discord helped him, or maybe he decided to introduce him to the princesses after it was decided he’d be the king of the Ghost Zone in the future, essentially making him a prince in the meantime. And I can’t stress enough how much I love, love, love this one, but how cool would it be if he had ties to the Everfree Forest because of his existence as a Halfa?!

I’ve always had the idea that a human character would have very small and subtle “ties” to the Everfree because some of the stuff that happens in there happens in our world. Like how when Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Applejack all mentioned that clouds moving, animals taking care of themselves, and plants grown all on their own is unnatural. Knowing this and yet still seeing creatures made of, heavily relying on, or having magic hints that it’s a place that follows some of the laws of our world and some of the rules of their rules, but not quite leaning more towards one of them. Can you see where I’m going with this? Danny’s existence as half dead, half alive, both and neither at the same time is like a more sentient, “living” example of the Everfree Forest! Can you see where my excitement is coming from?!

Idea B

Not exactly as excited about this version as Idea A, but I still love it! I’m going to take this chance to ramble about my own ideas for Tucker and Sam being there, too.

Staying true to the “goth” look she seems to love, I’d love to see her as a bat pony! We’ve already seen what the body outline would look like thanks to Flutterbat, and one of my favorite little details that I want to keep is that her bat wings were twice the size of Pegasus wings. Her coat is obviously black, along with her hair, but her mane and tail would have a pink and/or purple streak. Surprisingly, this new form doesn’t bother her too much because she liked how she looked, but getting used to it was a pain. Unfortunately, this also involved having more sensitive hearing, smell, and eyesight, which gave her more than a couple headaches and sensory issues. No, the fangs aren’t for tearing through flesh, they’re for fruits and veggies. She’d somehow gain the ability to better tell which fruits and veggies are safe for consumption even if they look fine, and even separate the sweetest ones from the rest. I can’t remember much of her, unfortunately, so for now I’ll say her cutie mark is an image of a few vegetables or the recycle mark?

Tucker would be an earth pony, and as a meat lover, he’d have half a meltdown over the fact that he can’t digest it. At least not much at once, or without it being very carefully prepared. Sam laughed, Danny tried to comfort him. Surprisingly, though, they’d come to realize while only meat isn’t the best option for his health, he can apparently digest more than the average pony, and a few of his teeth were slightly more built for this as well! So while his new diet his largely fruits and veggies now, he can still enjoy a few ribs. He’s also considered very intelligent because of his knowledge about handling technology. His cutie mark is an old phone with green wisps circling it.

Finally, Danny. Just like as a human, he has a living form and a ghost form. His living form resembles an earth pony with a tan coat and a black mane and tail, but his ghost form is an alicorn as a symbol of his status as both a halfa and prince of the Ghost Zone. His living form doesn’t have a cutie mark, but his ghost form has a black crown with green flames on his flank. This is a silent hint of how the incident changed his existence. When he’s in his ghost form, the terrifying creatures of the Everfree Forest and pony urban legends recognize his power and back away from him, so he’s starting to use that form a lot more often to keep his friends safe. Now for a couple extra headcanons!

•The whole “terrifying creatures of the Everfree Forest and pony urban legends recognize Danny’s power and back away from him” thing applies to both idea A and idea B, but they’d be more wary of him in idea A because they’ve never seen a human

•With idea B, Applejack might not let Sam into her orchard at first because of the vampire fruit bat incident, but later gets confirmation that she’s not exactly vampiric

•With idea B, Sam seems to be very, very slowly slipping towards a more nocturnal sleep schedule

•In both ideas, they get a bunch of stares from ponies for obvious reasons (in Idea B, it’s because Sam is a bat pony, Tucker eats more meat than most ponies, and Danny either doesn’t have a cutie mark or is in his alicorn form)

•In idea B, Sam and Danny would practice flying at the same time and Tucker would set up a tarp or something underneath

•In idea B, the trio might feel a little stupid for asking questions like how to do magic or fly when they’re almost as big as the mane six, but they’re surprisingly accepting of them asking for help since they’ve told them that they don’t remember having anyone to teach them how to do these things until now (Twilight and Rainbow Dash especially love to each them)

•In idea B, when Twilight casually mentioned having a couple experiments for Danny (because of his two forms), he froze in terror and Tucker immediately jumped in to protect him (Sam wasn’t there), but then she said something like “I’m just going to put a thermometer in your mouth and see if there’s a difference between your forms” and they both calmed down, but now they’re a “little” worried about worse experiments happening to Danny

•In idea B, Sam was also “experimented on”, as in they’d test her senses and discover how they’re better than the average pony’s

MISSING FILLY IN PONYVILLE! HAVE YOU SEEN SCOOTALOO?

Everypony your help is needed now more than ever! A young Pegasus filly by the name of Scootaloo had reportedly gone missing since the night of January 14th. She was last seen by townspony by the border of the Everfree Forest.

Close friends state that she was also riding a dull blue scooter with red wheels when last seen. Scootaloo has a light orange coat, lavender irises, with a fuchsia mane and tale. Her cutie mark is a tri-colored shield with a wing and lightning bolt motif on it.

“ Please, if you guys see her please let me know, please,” Wonderbolt Rainbow Dash pleads in an interview with The Ponyville Weekly. “ Scootaloo isn’t the type to just, well, run off like this. I need to know she’s safe, I… Please help us find her.”

If you ever find yourself with time to spare, help Rainbow Dash and her friends on their mission to find Scootaloo. Until the next Wednesday, this is The Ponyville Weekly.

I saw someone suggesting we should reblog / repost our writings so we can get more attention, more people enjoying the worlds we've created. Well, I'll add to the mix.

The story I've been TRYING to get back to work on, "Dreams" is set in the MLP FiM Universe, centering around "Icarus the Lunar Guard"... because why wouldn't I? He's a batpony who's lost more than most could understand and trying to cope and find a way through his place. There will be some very dark themes, uncomfortable topics, graphic depictions of sex and relationships, so Viewer Discretion will be advised. (Chapters will have some warnings on them at least.)

Chapter 1, "Summons" follows. The link to read the rest will be after.

“ICARUS. I WOULD SPEAK WITH YOU.”

That first sound, that “IHK” that starts my name... Hearing that gave me a fear I have never experienced before. It was as if the iced waters of the Crystal Empire raced from the base of my skull to the tip of my dock. Guard training said I should have dropped into a defensive position for protection. That reflex wasn’t triggered, I was in such shock.

My personal dreamscape, my get-away from everything and everypony, my One True Home of Peace, my personal playground of decadence didn’t evaporate when I heard the first phoenem of my name. It didn’t crumble or even shatter. It simply… “Turned off”?

I can’t describe it better than that, except to say that it was “unnerving”.

The voice that called to me, that cut through my serenity and lanced through my being with The Royal Canterlot Voice, was that of The Supreme Lunar Guard Commander herself.

Her Majesty, Princess Luna.

Her voice was a moment of both clear sound and intent. She hadn’t made a request; She stated a fact as obvious as “rain is wet”. And just as precise, the sound of her voice simply stopped at the end. There was no lingering echo or ringing like every other sound has. It simply died in the blackness around me.

I had never experienced a “sound shadow” before. I don’t want to again.

The Princess knew me just as she knew all her guards. She’d made it a point to meet the Lunar Guardsponies when they’re commissioned into service. She’d bow her head, thank us for our hard work and success, levitated our royal scroll acknowledging our rank and posting after having passed guard training…

--and too quietly for anyone else but us to hear, She said to me, “I hope I am always worthy of your service, Lunar Guard Icarus.”

She congratulated us all the same way: personally, by name, and letting us know She understood the responsibility of her authority over us.

As individuals we aren’t special batponies to her or anypony else. There was a class of about thirty of us that season, all uniformed characters, identically dressed, which serves to make us less an individual and more a collective. But at the moment of our commissioning, for a brief few seconds, we were given to feel that we were the most important batpony in all Equestria to Her.

And now Her Majesty, Princess Luna of Equestria, the Ruling Sovereign of the Night, the Guardian of the Dreamscape, the Living Avatar of the Moon, who once challenged Princess Celestia for control of all Equestria, and nearly succeeded, had a special intent on me.

I stood where I was, beyond rock still, unsupported in the blackness; not even hearing my own breathing.

Her Majesty would know I heard her; it would be impossible not to in such a situation. She wouldn’t need to wait for any kind of acknowledgment; we guardsponies are trained to obey any order coming from the Sovereign Herself.

She had spoken to me. Protocol needed to be observed.

I straightened up and replied to the Nowhere, “At your discretion, Highness.”

Since she hadn’t said “NOW”, I allowed myself to slip into sleep. She would order for me when She wanted my attendance.

Mercifully I was permitted a full-day’s dreamless sleep to rest after my night’s delivery work.

Mercilessly it became a week’s worth before I was back at Canterlot Castle and summoned for.

Author's Note:

This series is something I've had bubbling in my head for a while now. I want to explore some dark, VERY dark parts of who Icarus has become in my mind. And truth be told, I'm not sure of where the ending point is just yet. BUT I want to start exploring, start looking around at an idea that popped into my head and made this series almost needed.

The next chapter should cover the groundwork of what caught Princess Luna's attentions and how Icarus will be permitted to proceed.

ELEMENT OF KINDNESS LENDS A HOOF TO RABID CRITTERS

As the new year rolled along, several citizens of Ponyville voiced their worries for a wave of Everfree critters that had traded their life in the grand forest for a life of foraging in pony homes.

Numerous reports of aggressive behavior from these animals did not fail to reach the ears of Fluttershy- the Element of Kindness. On January 8th, Fluttershy ventured to the locations where the rabid critters were reportedly spotted. To her luck, a group of them were located straight away- ransacking the garage dump of a residence. With her signature gentle demeanor and soothing voice, Fluttershy was able to lure the Everfree animals to her cottage- where she states that she is in the process of healing them.

“ They seemed to have inhaled some pollen that caused an inflammatory allergic reaction,” Fluttershy tells Ponyville Weekly from the safety of her window, “ The pain of it is likely the reason for their feral actions… Please do not blame the poor critters, they’ve been suffering this entire time.” The kind soul then lifts up a solemn squirrel, who is said to have been one of the rabid creatures. “ This one has been so well mannered since then! Giving them a nice warm bath should put them right back on track.” Fluttershy informs, and this advice goes out to any who happen to catch any more of these runaways.

No more waves of animals has been spotted since then, and if you happen to see any, make sure to report to us and Fluttershy for more information. Stay safe Ponyville, and don’t let the bad critters bite! Until next Wednesday, this was The Ponyville Weekly.
