Mycroft headcanons

I just need to get these out of my system. If anyone has anything to add, pls do!! I love to hear your thoughts 🥰 slight hints to mystrade!

Warning: this will include themes of depression, eating disorders and self-harm. I will put them at the end, so if you aren’t here for that, just skip past ❤️

He absolutely hates the summer. This guy is a winter baby. The cold weather is a bother but at least he doesn’t sweat through his suits in the snow.

Will never admit it, but his mother’s homemade pie is his favourite comfort food. He’s tried a thousand times to bake it, following the recipe exactly, but he can never get it just right.

The first time he held Sherlock, he cried.

(This is the one of the only times he’s cried in front of his parents.)

Mycroft can’t stand jazz music. He does not understand it at all.

If he had to have a pet, it would be a cat. Preferably one without any fur.

Is actually allergic to certain laundry detergents- I like to think Sherlock is too. They just have sensitive skin.

Watches Barbie movies to unwind when he gets overwhelmed and burnt out. Will not admit this even if it were to save his life.

Every autumn, he re-watches Over The Garden Wall with a glass of wine. The whole show in one sitting, I might add.

Is a daddy’s boy. Sherlock is mummy’s boy.

Would love to have a daughter, but the trauma of taking care of Eurus and Sherlock has convinced him he’s not suitable to be a father. His family genes also has a massive play in that- what if it was a case of Eurus again? Nope, Mycroft would rather be lonely.

Speaking of lonely- I like to think after TFP, Sherlock starts setting him up with people and at first Mycroft complains, but then eventually he just gives in and lets Sherlock do what he wants. Coincidentally, this is just around the time Sherlock starts setting him up with Lestrade. Isn’t that strange? 👀

Came out to his parents during lunch one day, it was very casual.

(Sherlock has never come out, he doesn’t feel like he has to follow that tradition)

His favourite colour is green.

Has a framed photo of himself, Eurus and Sherlock as kids which he keeps in his bedroom. Not on display, but in his bedside drawer (in the middle drawer)

Depressive themes now:

Has been struggling with depression and ED’s since he was quite young.

He has a particular routine of binge eating and then purging.

This is in partly Mrs Holmes fault when she started insisting he diet, a little too much. Not harshly, just unaware of the consequences.

Although it’s mainly depression causing it, along with a childhood of being bullied and mocked by peers.

Attempted suicide at 16. This was the second and last time Mr and Mrs Holmes saw him cry. It wasn’t out of sadness or embarrassment, it was frustration that he had failed.

Sherlock’s reaction to his attempt is the sole reason he hasn’t tried again.

Has SH scars on his stomach.

Why do people think Sherlock had sex with irene because of eurus asking? When he composed the song he wasn't having sex. When he composed it he was thinking about irene, her phone, the case, the pictures. The case involved sex, pictures of people having sex, dominatrix so tune definitely has a huge sexual influence. That's why eurus got a sense of sex in it. If Sherlock had sex eurus would've said "you had sex" not "have you had sex?" She wanted to know about the music. Why is has sexual influence, because the case was about sex.

I don't know how long ago you sent me this, nonny, and I apologize for not answering until now. I've been on a social media break. But I'll answer now.

For myself, I tend to think that Sherlock and Irene had sex for a couple of reasons.

He saved her life, in a very dramatic way no less, and that gets the blood pumping. That alone wouldn't be reason enough, though, which is where the second reason comes in.

There is definitely chemistry between them. It's pretty obvious all throughout "A Scandal in Belgravia" that both are attracted to the other. The tension is palpable, and while I absolutely do not ship them, I can see why some do.

I do see your point though, it may be that it's a much looser connection to sex that Eurus hears. And it's a fascinating idea, one that might be fun to explore in writing. Either way, my OTP remains unchanged. Sherlolly forever. ❤️😊

A Yearly Ritual

Sherlock lowered his bow, the hum of the violin strings still vibrating slightly as he released them. He smiled through the glass as he lowered the instrument.

“I think that was very well done, don’t you?”

As was often the case, Eurus lowered her instrument as well, simply giving him a nod but saying nothing in reply. She walked over to the case laying on her bed and placed the violin inside.

Sometimes that’s all it was, and Sherlock was ok with that. He’d been visiting for five years now, and he’d come to terms with the limits of what he would be able to accomplish. He understood that the usual give and take that most people could enjoy with a sibling wasn’t realistic for them. It wasn’t realistic for her . What mattered was simply that Eurus understood that he was there for her, that they all were. And that nothing was going to make them abandon her again.

It was especially important on that particular day.

“John turning on Sherlock, though, makes no sense. The vitriol that he sprayed on his closest friend is not supported by the “You made a vow!” accusation. This is the man who was willing to die for John twice, the one who’s sacrificed himself time and again so John could be safe. It does not gel that John would blame Sherlock for Mary leaping in front of the bullet; John has not witnessed Sherlock’s taunting of Ms. Norbury, so he’s no basis to believe that Sherlock had anything to do with it. Even if John is only dumping his own guilt onto a safe target, it does not explain how he could have savagely beat Sherlock in the morgue, pounding and kicking him until blood pools on the floor. That is unacceptable from the John Watson we know.

Then, as he, Mycroft, and Sherlock are engaged in Eurus’s experiments, we see more uncharacteristic behavior from John. At one point, Sherlock refuses to play along, pointing the gun at himself, ready to die instead of kill. What is John’s response to seeing the person he loves most place a gun to his own throat? Nothing. He just waits while Sherlock counts down from ten. He doesn’t try to talk to him, he doesn’t offer comfort, he doesn’t cry. He just stands there. After everything that had happened, from Mary’s death to the emotional reconnection in 221B, would John be so passive? Not a chance.

Sherlock, too, is muted in the finale. Without a thought, Sherlock dives into and pulls John from a burning fire in “The Empty Hearse.” He’s emotionally devastated when John rejects him in “The Six Thatchers,” haunted by images of the doctor from their early days. John is, by his own admission, his one true friend. So when he learns that John is trapped in a well that is rapidly filling with water, how does he respond? “Try as long as possible not to drown.” That’s pithy, Sherlock. We do not visibly see Sherlock make the devastating leap between losing a playmate years before and losing his soulmate in the present. Instead, he puts John off with a flippant remark, solves his sister’s song riddle, then has a chat and a hug with her in a burned-out bedroom. Yes, he must be delicate, but his subsequent request for her help in finding his friend almost feels like an afterthought, lacking the soul and emotion that the character has supposedly grown into in this series.”

Hi!Yes, I’ve heard that, too. And it wouldn’t surprise me if it was actually Moriarty who manipulated Eurus. Especially in the “Holmes killing Holmes” scene when Sherlock has to decide to either shoot John or Mycroft. Because when he aims for Mycroft, Eurus says “Jim Moriarty thought you’d make this choice…” So if it had been her idea to give Sherlock the choice she would’ve said “I knew you would make this choice etc…”, but she didn’t.
