Mini Williamson | Leah Williamson
Warning mentions of pregnancy, morning sickness and just a whole lot of fluff
You and Leah had kept your whole relationship away from the public, up until recently.
It was announced that Leah had been chosen to captain her country to the euros and therefore, had been more in the public spotlight.
Leah soon became a face of England, the one who was going to bring it home.
You loved it, but hated it at the same time.
Your wife was getting the recognition she deserved, but it also meant she was at home less and less.
You couldn’t blame Leah, how could you? You knew this would be the case when you got with her.
Luckily, one of the best thing about your relationship was that you were both open with your emotions.
So when it got too much, you sat Leah down and explained your feelings and within minutes, she had cancelled all her shoots and interviews for the next few weeks.
That way, she could spend time with you, and your baby, who was due anytime that week.
It had been a rollercoaster and a half the past nine months.
During the autumn of 2021, you and Leah decided to go on the journey of IVF, desperately wanting to expand your family.
It was quickly chosen that you’d carry, due to Leah being an athlete, and you began the process.
When you awoke in the early morning four weeks after the final transfer, feeling the urge to throw up, you knew that maybe you and Leah were going to be parents.
You remember the moment you found out.
Leah had been rubbing your back as you threw your head into the toilet.
You looked back and nodded at her.
Without needing any words, Leah knew what you were saying and reached to open the box of tests.
You set a timer and once the alarm echoed the silent room, you urged Leah to turn it, your hands too shaky for you do it.
“Positive. Love, we’re having a baby.”
You sobbed into Leah’s shoulder, happiness taking over your body.
That was just the start of the rollercoaster.
With the baby following in their mummy’s footsteps and wanting to become a footballer, the kicking you got was non stop.
It was safe to say it was Leah’s baby.
When you got to the later months of your pregnancy, the uncomfortableness started to kick in.
Whatever position you were in, you were uncomfortable.
Even laying in Leah’s arms, you were uncomfortable.
You became moody due to the tiredness, constantly snapping at Leah, even if she was trying to help, which always resulted in a sorry and kiss to her cheek.
So when the time finally came for your baby to come, you were ecstatic.
Ecstatic to not be pregnant anymore, but even more ecstatic to meet your little one.
In the early morning of June 6th, your perfect baby girl was born.
The moment she was passed into your hands, you decided that life couldn’t get any better.
Even though Leah was set on calling her Wembley, you both settled on the name Amelia.
Amelia Amanda Williamson.
You and Leah couldn’t have been happier.
You were in your own little bubble with your newborn baby girl and your close family and friends knowing about her.
Due to Leah going to England camp for the euros three weeks after Amelia was born, you made the most of her being home.
After a few cozy weeks being stuck inside, you decided to take Ami on her first walk.
You cried when you put her in her stroller for the first time.
The realisation that she was really yours settling in.
Although you thought it was just you, Leah and Amelia on that walk, fans had taken pictures of the three of you, posting them all over social media.
The whole of England blew up after finding out that the England captain had not only a wife, but also a baby.
Leah officially came out with a statement, introducing you and Amelia to the public, along with a picture of you and Leah when you were pregnant.
Although it wasn’t ideal, you and Leah were both happy that you didn’t have to hide from the public anymore.
The dreaded moment came when Leah left for camp.
After a very emotional goodbye, Leah placed a final kiss to your lips and a kiss to Amelia’s head, and was on her way to the euros.
With Amelia still being so young, you and Leah made the decision that you wouldn’t attend any matches.
Although it killed you not being at the stadiums watching her play, Leah assured you that it was okay, that you were being her biggest supporter by looking after your baby girl.
But when the lionesses made it to the final, you had to be there.
You wanted to witness it, but you also wanted Ami to witness her mummy and all her aunties at a sold out Wembley.
You hadn’t told Leah you were at the final, getting the tickets from Kiera instead.
Kiera got you the best tickets too, in the family and friends section, just behind the subs bench, right by the barricade.
It was nerve racking taking Amelia. You couldn’t help but think she was still too young to be there.
But her paediatrician assured you that she’d be fine as long as she had noise cancelling headwear on.
Ami looked adorable in her car seat.
It was a moist summers day when the final took place so she was in a baby grow, an England shirt over the top, with a thin blanket on top of her.
You got to your seats, Amelia fast asleep in a milk coma.
Everyone’s family and friends came and congratulated you on the birth of Ami, everyone staring in awe at the sleeping Amelia.
Eventually it was time for the game to begin.
Leah led her team out of the tunnel, which brought tears to your eyes.
Whilst singing the national anthem, Leah had a small smile on her face.
You knew how excited she was, but also how worried she was.
Your eyes locked with Leah’s and her whole face changed from serious to shocked.
You blew a kiss to her and she returned two back.
At the action, Alessia looked back from her seat on the bench and her eyes widened.
“Oh my god, Y/N!” She exclaimed, immediately standing up to hug you.
Alessia was like a little sister to you.
You both had met when Leah introduced you to the England girls but it was Alessia who you got on best with.
“Hi, lessi.” You hugged back and less broke the hug, realising that the newest member of your family was with you.
“Is this…” Alessia asked, stopping her sentence as she zoned out, looking at Amelia.
Amelia frowned in her sleep and less giggled at her.
“She’s already got that Williamson frown mastered. Hi, mini Williamson. Tooney, look at Amelia, doesn’t she look like Leah?” Alessia nudged Ella beside her and Ella turned around and awed at the sight.
“That’s Leah but in baby form.”
You all laughed at her statement but stopped once a small cry was heard from the car seat.
“Oh, baby girl, did we wake you up? I’m sorry.” You cooed as you picked her up, resting her on your chest, her head snuggling into your neck.
“She’s the cutest. Even her cry is cute.” Alessia said quietly, scared that she’ll wake Amelia up again.
“It is, but not at 2 o’clock in the morning when you want to sleep.”
Your conversation with Alessia was soon cut short when Sarina suggested she goes and warms up.
With a final hug from her, less jumped up and went and warmed up.
The atmosphere was incredible when Ella scored the first goal.
The whole of Wembley roaring as the ball hit the back of the net.
The atmosphere seemed to calm as Germany scored an equaliser.
Of course, with the three super subs on, Ella, Alessia, and Chloe, the score was bound to change.
And that’s exactly what it did.
Just 10 minutes from the extra time full whistle, Chloe scored the winning goal.
You saw your wife fall to the floor in tears as the final whistle blew.
Tears ran down your face too, you were so proud of Leah.
Your Leah was now a European champion. She was the one that lead her country to becoming European champions.
Whilst everyone was celebrating with one another, Leah headed straight for you.
You enveloped her in a hug, very restricted due to the barricade in your way.
“I’m so proud of you, Le.” You told her, your voice cracking as you held her tighter.
Once you pulled apart, she picked up Amelia from her car seat, pressing kisses all around her face.
Leah helped you jump the barrier, immediately pressing her lips against yours, Amelia still in her arms.
She then walked you over to all the England girls that celebrated as they saw you.
All of the girls loved you just as much as they loved Leah, but instead of the attention going straight to you, it was all on Amelia.
Leah took her over to them, showing her off like a trophy, and all of the lionesses gathered round in a circle, completely forgetting about the other trophy they’d won.
That summer, Leah won two trophies.
A trophy for winning the euros.
But the best one of all, was her baby girl. Her mini Williamson.

the last sentence… ouch 😕
gonna put the full article here because it addresses the issue heartbrokenly well:
Pedri will never forget 2021, the year he went from a boy to a man. He was 18 years old, still a youth player and played 61 games between Barça, the senior national team, the Olympic team and the U-23s. From January 2021 to January 2022, he also played ten of the thirteen extra times that the club and the national team faced. And the atrocity could have been bigger because during that period he missed twenty games due to injury. It is easy to conclude that it was his body that said enough was enough.
Pedri gave his all wearing Spain's kit and today he pays the consequences of a sin he did not commit. Nobody, absolutely nobody, stopped that barbarity that meant squeezing the muscles of a boy whose talent allowed him to burn footballing stages, but not physical ones: he was still a boy with the physique of a boy who still had to develop. Three years later, his legs are claiming the price for everything he has experienced. And he is the only one who pays that price. Nobody else but him. No matter how much Barça pampers him and accompanies him, no matter how much exhaustive prevention work has been planned, no matter how many good and empty words come out of the Federation, Pedri's body belonged then and still belongs to Pedri. And it is Pedri who, with each relapse, returns to the bottom.
Football is a sport that moves huge amounts of money that is shared among all those who participate in it, but in which only the footballers are exploited. At the price of gold, yes, but without consideration. Some of them make a very good living, in some cases obscenely good, but that doesn't give anyone permission to gamble with their health. As was done with Gavi, keeping him on the pitch in an inconsequential match and after twisting his knee minutes before that ended up broken. It's scary to hear De la Fuente's frivolity talking about this case… thinking about what's to come.
Treating Lamine Yamal or Cubarsí as if they were full-fledged footballers is irresponsible. The mere fact that they are even considering making them play both the Euros and Olympic Games is another shameless move from an industry that only looks out for itself and doesn't give a damn about the health of the players it is supposed to protect. The shamelessness to even dare to put the players at the centre of the decision. As if it were up to them. Neither Pau nor Lamine are old enough to vote or drive, but they force them to take a position, shaking off a responsibility that should fall on the RFEF, which is the beneficiary of the investment in time and money made by Barça. The club, for its part, is obliged to say enough is enough. Or the one who will say enough, as happened with Pedri, might be their physique.

Mick Schumacher (Mercedes) - Euros
Requested: nope
Prompt: Mick drunk while watching the Euros in 2021
Warnings: dunk Mick
Tumblr media
Mick was sat alongside his mechanics and engineers as he watched on painfully. England versus Germany. He had this lovely barbecue planned out, drinks and everything paid for and then the final whistle had gone, leaving Germany to lose. The team celebrated and sang countless football chants about how England is gonna bring it home and what not while Mick just watched on. It had been an hour or so since the match had finished and Mick just wanted to go back to his hotel room but the mechanics weren't exactly having nay of it. "How about you just drink mate?" One of his mechanics asked. "Oh no, I'm fine." Mick reassured him. "Why? Is something wrong?" Mick shook his head. "No, my girlfriend is going out with her friends from Alfa Romeo tomorrow so I don't want to keep her up too late worrying about me." Mick explained. His engineer understood but was persistant to have some fun with Mick, so was everyone else. "Okay, how about this? We'll stay until seven or eight and then you can go home. Sound like a good idea?" Mick thought for a while and agreed. "Okay, okay that's fine. Let me just text her first and we'll get to drinking."
It had just gone 1 in the morning whne the door to your hotel room was knocked. Your eyes flew open as your sleep was disrupted but you knew it must have been Mick. You got up and sluggishly walked towards the door before opening it, surprised to see his mehcnaics Ryan and Dylan there instead. "Thank God you answered. He's had a bit too much to drink." Dylan said. You looked over to see Mick half asleep and looking down. "Mick?" Hee loookeed up and smiled lazily upon sering you. "Heya Liebling. I missed you sooooo much." he slurred. You chuckled a bit and turned back to the mechanics. "How drunk is he?" you asked as he collapsed into your arms. "Very. He's had loads of Heineken, Budweiser, we aren't even gonna talk about the Jagermeister." Ryan said as he helped you bring Mick into the room and plopping him down onto the couch. "Well he's definitely gonna have a hangover." You sighed. "Yeah, probably. Look, we have to go but goodnight Y/n." Ryan said. "Goodnight, I'll talk to you later."
You closed the door and spotted your boyfriend on the couch, doing nothing but breathing. "You doing okay over theeree Mick? How about some water?" He lifted his hand and gave a thumbs up. He must have been shattered. "Right, here you go. Don't drink it too quickly though, just little sips." Mick took the glass and shakily brought it to his lips, sipping little by little as he was instructed to. "How are you feeling now?" you asked him. His head dropped onto your shoulder and his eyes closed a bit. "I'm sleepy." Mick whispered. "I know. Do you want to go to bed?" you asked. Mick shook his head but then, came a little spurt of vomit coming from his mouth and onto your hoodie. "Jesus christ." you muttered, a little annoyed. "I'm sorry." he mumbled. "It's okay, it's okay. This happens to everyone. Let's just get you somewhere to sit and throw up whatever you need to."
The toilet. That's where Mick sat for a good thirty minutes just vomiting and getting sick while you sat on or in the bath, it really depended. "This is horrible." Mick groaned before spitting into the toilet. "I know. That's why I don't get drunk as much anymore Mick." You replied. "Are you disappointed with me?" he asked. You were taken off guard by that question. "No, why would I?" you asked, moving his hair to the side a little. "Because you are supposed to be up and going to meet up with your friends really early tomorrow and you're here taking care of me like I'm a baby or a child." You smiled a bit and rubbed the side of his face. "That's my job." You chuckled. "Your job is to put a car together." Mick mumbled tiredly. "Wiring but okay." you replied. He smiled a bit. "No but seriously, your job is to love me." he said. "So caring for you falls into that category." Hee opened his eyes to look at your caring face. "But now you can't go out tomorrow morning because of me."
"I don't mind. I can always wait until Thursday. You've got media anyway." He nodded and began to doze off so he probably had thrown up everything there was. "Okay, ets go to bed Schumi." You said climbing out of the bath to help him up. "Can we have a sleepover?" he asked excitedly. "Of course we can." You replied. Youu opened the bedroom door and turned on the light, Mick barely standing and relying solely on your shoulder for balance. "Okay, into bed. Come on." Mick slumped onto the bed and curled in under the blankets to get warm. You just hope din beside him and turned the lights off since you could both only sleep in the dark. You were about to fall asleep when you heard a little German voice beside you.
"Hey Y/n?" Mick asked, his eyes closed as he prepared to go to sleep. "Yes?" you replied. "Do you have a boyfriend?" You made a face at the question, slightly confused but it made sense that his head wasn't in the right mindset at the time. "Mick, you're my boyfriend." You said. Mick scoffed. "That sucks." You were taken back by that remark. "Excuse me?" you asked, a little hurt by his last reaction. "Why aren't you my wife yet?" It took a few seconds for it to settle into your brain but it warmed your heart and set the butterflies swarming around your stomach when it eventually did. "Wait Mick, do you mean that?" you asked, turning around but by the time you had, he was already softly snoring, fast asleep.

Secrets - Mason Mount x reader
Tumblr media
Mason Mount x female!reader
Summary: The women’s Euros lead to secrets being spilt. How will Declan take the news knowing his best friends have been dating behind his back?
Warnings: Fluff, swearing, implied smut, Euro heartbreak (still not over it)
Word Count: 2.7K
The summer of 2021 was one the English would never forget. For the most part, the summer was full of happiness and memories but the night of the Euro final against Italy was one to forget. England fell at the last hurdle, cheated out of the win if you analyse the referee's decision but it was over now. You were there to witness everything. Growing up with Mason and Declan meant you were there to watch their happiest moments on the pitch and their heartbreaking moments.
You’d gone down the same route as they had, football. You were scouted by Celtic and quickly moved to Scotland, leaving the boys for several years. Thankfully the women's league started later than the men's so you were always able to travel back to England to support the two and they’d do the same at the end of the season.
Eventually, you left Celtic and moved back to England to join West Ham, much to Mason's disgust. Declan was enthusiastic, he always bragged to Mason that he got to spend more time with you, always telling him what you’d been up to during training and your free time but the truth was Mason already knew that. You’d been dating Mason behind Declan's back for about a year now.
It all started after the Euro final. Mason was heartbroken and wanted you by his side. You didn’t feel guilty about leaving Declan, he had Lauren by his side, Mason had no one like that. You sat on his bed, cupping his face as you wiped his tears away with your thumbs. Mason looked up at you through his glossy eyes, even when his heart was being ripped into a million pieces he couldn’t help but fall in love with you even more. He already lost the biggest game in his life he couldn’t lose much more. Mason leant forward and placed his lips onto yours, you kissed him back and the rest was history.
“How’re you feeling?” Mason ran his fingertips along your skin as you both lay in bed together. It was the morning of the women’s euro final. England was set to play Germany in a mere few hours, a game in which the men lost and the women had never won.
“Bit nervous.” You looked up at him through the sunlit hotel room.
“You’ll be fine, you’ve scored in every game so far.” He smirked. “Might as well be the female Messi.” A small laugh slipped from your lips as you laid your head down onto his bare chest, your hand reaching up to trace his tattoo.
“Maybe one day.”
“You’ve got the height for it.”
“Oh piss off I’m not that short!” You slapped his chest causing him to laugh and wrap his arms around you, keeping you close. He kissed your forehead as you fell silent. A small sigh fell from your lips, catching his attention. “What’s on your mind?”
“When are we gonna Dec?”
“Soon.”
“How soon?”
“In the next few weeks.”
“What about today?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Why not?”
“Because today is about you, not me and if he throws a fit saying shit like ‘it’ll ruin the friendship’ then that’ll ruin your day.”
“It’ll ruin my day not being able to celebrate with my boyfriend if we win.” You hit back at his words.
“You can celebrate with me.” He moved your head out of your face. “Behind closed doors when he’d not around.” Rolling your eyes you pushed yourself up from his grasp, getting out of bed and heading to the shower. Mason frowned at your actions, pouting like a child as you left him alone. “Don’t be in a mood with me!” He called out.
“I’m not!” You hissed back, turning the shower on before locking the bathroom door.
“Do I get to join?”
“Nope.”
“Why not?” He threw the covers off his bare body and made his way to the door, attempting to open it. “y/n lets not have an argument.”
“We aren’t having an argument.”
“You’re acting as if we are.”
“Your eyes deceive you Mount.”
“You only ever call me by my last name when you’re teasing me or when you’re pissed off and the door being locked is a big sign to me that you’re annoyed at me.”
“You know why.”
“Oh, so we are having an argument?”
“A disagreement Mason.”
“Look I want to tell him but we’ve kept it for so long… that’s what’ll hurt him…”
“And who’s idea was that?” Your tone turned sour at his excuses.
Mason knew you had a point. You wanted to tell Declan after a few months. That was the original agreement. Make sure things worked out first and if they didn’t you’d split and it would never be spoken about again and Declan would never have to know. Evidently, things didn’t turn out like that and Mason and you had already begun to look at properties to move into together, Declan would have to find out soon. Mason was the one who wanted to keep it from him, the lies just built up and it was getting too much. The pressure of the Euros was weighing on your shoulders and the constant lying to your best friend was getting too much.
You opened the bathroom door, your hair dripping wet as you wrapped a towel around your body. “We tell him tonight, I don’t care what the result is and if you won’t tell him then I’ll just tell him myself, without you.”
“You look really hot -”
“Stop trying to change the subject.” Glaring his way you pushed past him to gather your England kit, making sure you had everything in your bag for the game ahead.
“Just stating a point.” A smirk grew on his lips as he followed your movements. He came up behind you, hands on your hips, pulling your back into his chest. Kissing the side of your cheek he started to trail light kisses down your jaw and neck.
“Mase…”
“Hmm?”
“We need to tell him.”
Mason let out a heavy breath but didn’t stop his actions. “We will.” He gripped your hips tighter.
“When?”
“Tonight but if you lose we’ll tell him tomorrow, deal?”
“Deal.” You leaned your head back on his shoulder. “As much as I would love for this to continue I have to get to work.”
“I can be quick -”
“Don’t I know it.”
“Oi.” Mason spun you around so your eyes met his before he lightly pushed onto the bed. He hovered down so his lips ghosted yours. “You’ve never complained before.”
“To you…”
“You haven’t even won the match yet you’re already acting cocky.”
“Learnt from the best.” You pecked his lips lightly as he laid you down. “You might wanna hurry up if you want to do this…”
“You know I think this is why we lost the Euros…”
“Sorry?”
“I didn’t get a good luck shag before I played.” He smirked.
“You’ll get one for the World Cup.”
“I bloody better.” Mason smashed his lips into yours, his free hand coming up to remove the towel as he climbed up onto the bed. Needless to say, you were late for the first briefing of the day.
Mason and Declan sat alongside the rest of the England boys who came to support the lionesses. Both of them wore an England shirt with your name and number on the back, proudly displaying their pride for you. The first half hadn’t gone to plan, England had picked up two yellow cards and was yet to score a goal, then again on the brighter side, Germany was also yet to score.
Mason watched as you quickly stormed off to the changing rooms the moment the half-time whistle blew. The brunette turned to his best friend who was beckoning him to follow him out to the foyer for a drink.
He needed to tell him.
Mason followed him, nerves creeping up inside him and not just because of the game. “You alright?” Declan’s voice grabbed his attention.
“Yeah.” He gave him a light laugh, trying to play things off but Declan knew him too well. “Just nervous for the game that’s it, wanted them to be at least a goal up by now.”
“They’ll be fine, we know our y/n, she’ll score.” Declan grabbed a drink for him. “But I know that isn’t what you’re nervous about.” He stared straight at the Chelsea boy. “What’s wrong?”
Mason took a deep breath, sipping on his drink as he felt his heart pounding. “Before I tell you, promise me you won’t take it out on her. She wanted to tell you -” Mason didn’t even need to continue for Declan to put two and two together.
Huffing, Declan cut him off. “How long?”
“Dec -”
“How long Mase? How long have you kept this from me? You two are my best mates and yet you lied to me, how long?”
“Since we lost the Euros.”
“So a year then? You two lied for a year? Who else knew?”
“Only our families, I promise you Dec only they knew and not all of them know. My parents and hers do and that’s really it.” Declan didn’t say anything, prompting Mason to keep speaking. “She wanted to tell you but I didn’t. I was scared that you’d turn your back on us. We planned to keep it secret until we were certain it would work out between us but I got worried, not her. y/n wanted to tell you but I didn’t so if you want to blame and be pissed off at someone be annoyed at me.”
Once again Declan was silent, contemplating on what to say but the sudden cheer of the crowd caught their attention. The second half was starting. Without uttering a word Declan moved past his best friend, screaming your name with the crowd as he took his seat.
A defeated expression fell onto Mason’s face as he took his seat. He knew he’d done the right thing for you, maybe it was a bit late but things are always better delivered late than never but he couldn’t dwell on it too much now, you needed his support.
Thankfully for him, Toone scored allowing England to take the lead. Mason and Declan both roared at the goal but the feeling didn’t last long as minutes later Germany went and equalised. They watched as you let out a string of swears from your lips, throwing your head back in defeat, you and the rest of the nation really didn’t want to lose this game after the men's final.
The game ended up going into extra time and the nerves were getting to you all. It felt like the clock was moving slower with each second. No one wanted it to go to penalties. Declan spared a glance over to Mason who looked as if he was losing his mind. Not only was he riddled with fear of losing his best friend but also feared his girlfriend would lose this game like he did.
“Do you love her Mase?” Declan suddenly spoke.
“What?” He turned his attention away from the game. “Of course I love her, I wouldn’t still be with her if I didn’t. Dec I’d do anything for her -”
“Then why didn’t you tell me?” He looked hurt. “Mase we’ve been mates for years, not just me and you but y/n too.”
“She wanted to tell you -”
“But you didn’t so she kept it a secret for you.”
“Yes…”
“Break her heart and I’ll break your kneecaps when we play next.”
A sigh of relief left Mason’s lips, a small laugh fell from his mouth as he spoke. “Thank you and again I am so sorry.”
“Just don’t wait to tell me that you’re marrying her the day before you put a ring on her finger.”
“I won’t.”
“And don’t wait to tell me she’s pregant when she’s going into labour although that might be a little harder to hide.”
Mason laughed again. “I won’t, I promise.”
A sudden string of boos rang out from the crowd, grabbing their attention. Both boys looked over to Germany’s goal. You were on the floor, holding your arms out as the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
“That’s your girl Mase.”
“She’s given a penalty to us.”
“And you weren’t even looking when your girl was fouled,” Declan smirked over at Mason.
“She doesn’t know that.” Mason kept his attention on the game. “Who’s taking it?”
“Not trying to scare you Mase but y/n is stepping up to it.”
“What?” Despite being in the boxes, Mason stood up to get a better look, not like it would do much but now we could clearly see that you were standing opposite the goalkeeper with the ball in front of you. “Fucking hell…” He took a deep breath, his heart pounding in his chest. It wasn’t that Mason didn’t think you could do it, you were more than capable of taking a penalty. You’d scored most of the ones you’d taken but after the final, he’d been in he’d never want that guilt to fall to you if you missed.
The sound of the crowd filled your ears but you silenced them. That was one of the first things you’d learnt whilst being at Celtic. The crowd there was one you’d never heard before but Wembley was a different story. The entire nation was watching as the referee blew her whistle and you had to take the penalty. With a deep breath, you took one last look at the goal and ran up and kicked the ball. Aiming the ball in the top left-hand corner you watched as it hit the back of the net, slipping through the keeper's hands. In the last few minutes of extra time, you had scored and put England in the lead with minutes to spare.
The feeling was something you knew you would never feel again for a while. You ran to the crowd, screaming with happiness as they screamed back. Your teammates jumped on your back, ruffling up your hair and screaming alongside you. You looked up to the box where Mason and Declan were sitting and gave them a smile, although you couldn’t see them through the crowd you knew they were smiling down at you.
The whistle blew signalling the game was over. You and the rest of the girls fell to your knees, the tears streaming down your faces. It had finally come home. Mason and Declan made their way down the stairs and towards the pitch side with the rest of your families.
You and the girls were singing along to Sweet Caroline when you caught the eyes of Mason. He ran over, pulling you into his arms, picking you up as he spun you around. Not caring that a camera was right beside you he crashed his lips into yours, cupping your face as he tried his best to not get too carried away on national television.
“You’re the best in Europe.” He smiled.
“Maybe the world soon…” You pushed his brown hair out of his eyes, looking up at him with a soft smile. Your eyes fluttered over to Declan who was taking in the atmosphere. “You told him then?”
“I did. I’m sorry I made you keep that from him for so long, I was an -”
“Shut up Mount.” You pecked his lips. “It’s done now.”
“Thank you.”
“Is he okay about it?”
“He is.”
“See,” You smiled. “I told you that he’d be okay with it.”
“He said he’d break my kneecaps if I fucked up.”
“Well then Mount, better stay on my good side because we play for the same team so he’ll definitely know if you upset me.” You teased him.
“I think the colour blue would suit you better.” He smirked.
“You think so? I was more thinking the colour red…”
His eyes widened at your words. “No…”
“Maybe contract talks have already taken place…”
“And you didn’t tell me?”
“Should have told Declan sooner.” You kissed his cheek. “Besides, who doesn’t like a bit of rivalry?”

RE: Harry and the NFL- it's a way to upset William's position as the President of The Football Association. William will be probably going to Germany this summer to support England+ he presents 2 trophies in May. H&M always have to have what William and Catherine have, like M wanted to get involved with the US Open just because C has Wimbledon. Like Harry missed England being in the EURO final in 2021, which was attended by William. He also lost his rugby patronage and that hit him hard. It's just royals for rent+ compensation.
THIS! You are spot on.
This was actually one aspect of his job he enjoyed so he is settling for second best now.
I guess Harry is going to be the new Patron of the NFL haha!
Imagine going from being Patron of your country's team and going to world events to Las Vegas...for the Super Bowl.
Las Vegas...where naked billiards was seen by the world.

Ada Hegerberg on the future of women’s football - The Guardian
I don’t want to come out all firing, it’s too early into 2024 for that and I’ve got a job to do on the pitch, but it is always important to start a new year properly and raise some concerns that I, and other players, have about the women’s game and where it is going.
Sometimes this world of football still manages to shock me. I was shocked when I saw the 2024 international match calendar – and I was not the only one. Many of us have had to compete in back-to-back summer tournaments in with the postponed Tokyo Olympics in 2021, the Euros in 2022 and then the World Cup in 2023. This year it’s the Olympics again for some teams, so to see a Fifa window for games in the middle of July was frustrating to say the least.
Obviously, some teams will be competing at the Olympics but not all of us. Many were looking at this summer as a summer of liberation – for our bodies and our minds. But no.
A lot has been made about the intensity of our match calendars and the impact on players who are not given a proper environment for the demands of so many matches, yet here we are, ready to play anywhere between 50 to 60 matches, with games to be played in every month of the year. The decision-making is worrying to say the least. I will be told there was no other month for it, but I do firmly believe a good problem solver can find a way around any matter.
I feel these issues so keenly because I’ve been impacted by them. There are many different causes of injuries, but if we are overworking players, not giving them the appropriate amount of rest and recovery time, and not providing them with the set-up that can match the level of the demands being placed on them physically and mentally, then the risk to player health is increasing exponentially.
I had been injury free in my whole career, year-in and year-out, winning trophies and playing to my best abilities. But in recent years I’ve been unlucky with a stress fracture impacting my body. Very few people knew or understood the extent of this injury, what caused it and whether it would impact me long-term, yet despite that I have lazily been labelled “injury prone”.
Any of us could pick up another injury, but any of us could also have a fantastic year ahead of us. This is the goal I work towards every day, and I feel this is something that we, as Lyon, have done collectively and individually for the past few months. This injury period is behind me. I’m tired of being put in a box. There will always be a “it won’t last” caveat to recognition of my form but I’ve stopped putting energy into answering these questions and so should all players.
We know who we are, where we are now, and where we came from. Injuries are an important part of the game whether we want it or not, but not the decisive factor as to who we are. Female players deserve to have the competence and quality around them to help them to keep delivering on the pitch.
At the moment, there are too many variables from environment to environment to blame the players or their bodies for the injuries they pick up. Playing any sport is an injury risk but we are not defined by our injuries. We are defined by what we are able to bring to the pitch and the sport.
Giving players better environments with more competence around them is key. There is a lot of talk about the need for research, and rightly so, but not enough about how the research, when done, is then filtered into the women’s football ecosystem for the benefit of all players. If you really want to see the women’s game grow you must keep players available. Right now, that’s a hell of a challenge. I had to dig deep to lift me out of the injury hell I was in for a short period, getting the right expertise and knowledge, and I was lucky because I had the people around me to help me do that. Not everybody gets that.
On a global level, players need help. We need a better communication between players and governing bodies. We need better communications between clubs and federations. We can’t keep having contradictions in the way things are done. Having a health expert panel put in place is a great thing, but how good is it for when you’re told you have international games to play mid-summer? The stress that is put on players physically and mentally makes no sense. The demands on players and their bodies are growing and while this is something we’ve all been asking for, the tools are not yet here to deal with those demands.
Will it change? I hope so. We are so damn lucky to be professional footballers. To me it is one of the best jobs in the world. But being lucky doesn’t prevent all of us from being smart. There are, and there will always be, bigger issues to solve in the world, but taking care of one another in our area is a start, and that gives a foundation for us to help greater causes. Football, and other sports, can serve so many bigger purposes.

Football fandom: Are the minority ruining it for the majority?
What is it that distinguishes ‘supporters/fans’ with ‘spectators?’ I would argue the difference will help you grasp the notion of fandom and how some people reach their levels of devotion and intense interest towards their chosen sports team. I would define a spectator as a person who can observe sport but feel no direct emotion during or after the event, it will not leave a lasting memory. In comparison, supporters and fans who will personally live every moment while watching a game and have an intense emotional devotion towards their chosen team. Moreover, fandom offers people an escape from the ‘real world’ and allows them to invest their time and energy into something they have a strong passion and love for.
Is the outcome of a football game a life-or-death situation? The obvious answer to this question is no but to many football fans up and down the country and across the world they may not give such a straight answer.
Social media
The morals of fandom is something that has been questioned by many, with various events happening within football to spark these conversations. Examples of this include fans confronting players from their ‘beloved’ team either in real life or via social media, which has been both positive and negative for the connection between fan and athlete. I have found examples of both ends of the spectrum on the influence of social media on the modern-day fan to player interaction:
Positive: Marcus Rashford in Lockdown creating a strong movement via social media in funding children with meals.
Negative: The three players who missed penalties in the EURO 2021 final receiving racist abuse on social media.
‘The fan experience doesn’t stop at the turnstile, it now continues after the match on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.’ (Toney, 2013)
Devotion
Health
A football fans' devotion towards their team is reflected in the levels they go to show their support. Forms of devotion can be shown in many different ways and can cause physiological and psychological issues.
‘Fans who are strongly fused with their team - that is, have a strong sense of being 'one' with their team - experience the greatest physiological stress response when watching a match,’ said Dr Martha Newson, researcher at the Centre for the Study of Social Cohesion, at Oxford.
Dr Martha Newson at Oxford underwent a study by taking the saliva from football fans and found heightened levels of cortisol which increases blood pressure and damages weakened hearts. Cortisol also has increased psychological issues such as it gives people a feeling of impending doom, that their life is in danger, or they are under attack.
Economic
The amount a fan is willing to spend also shows the levels of devotion they possess. In the Premier League the average match going football fan will be spend 13% of their annual salary per season on tickets, merchandise and food and drink on a match day. This statistic doesn’t take into consideration the added TV subscriptions and streaming services to watch football in order to show their ongoing support.
‘With fans now running the risk of being priced out of football, we’re glad to uncover the true cost that fans are now expected to pay.’ Layla Johnson, Regional Manager at Creditfix.
The European Super League
When this situation arose in April 2021, 12 of Europe’s biggest teams proposed to form their own league, leaving the rest of the world of football behind. This caused a huge rift across fanbases with 79% of all fans strongly opposing the idea, 89% believe it’s for financial gain and not in the fans' interests.
Fans began turning on their own teams and questioning their devotion all together resulting in marches outside stadiums and boycotting games as well as asking for their teams to be heavily fined and have points deducted. This shows the extremes of this situation with devoted fans turning against their beloved clubs due to their insensitive actions.
Violence and crime
The role of being a fan can be taken to extremes, with their love and devotion being taken too far resulting in violence and crimes being committed.
For example, this season both West Ham United and Aston Villa had fans banned from European fixtures due to a small group of people causing issues in foreign cities. These leaves a large majority of fans missing out on potentially a once in lifetime opportunity of watching their team play in European competition and also labelling all supporters as ‘hooligans’ even though it’s the minority rather than the majority.
In 2022, Nottingham Forest drew Leicester City at home in the FA Cup - considered to many as an East Midlands derby. With there being a strong dislike between the two sets of ‘fans’ it resulted with fighting in the streets and shops and a pub window being smashed. This left many fans of the two respected clubs after seeing the aftermath take to social media platforms and voice their embarrassment for what they have witnessed.
After the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown (March 2020-July 2021) there was an increased rise in incidents occurring in football games across England and Wales. Such as a 59% increase in football arrests compared to pre-pandemic, hate crime incidents rose by 99% and number of pitch invasions up by 127%.
Seeing change in the future
Sport as a whole is such an influential environment for many and is a brilliant way to connect with people, have conversations and debates on a variety of topics. Fandom as a concept shows the extremes on both sides; on one hand you can see people come together with a common goal of supporting their team and on the other hand taking their passion and devotion too far, representing it in a negative sense by expressing their views via aggressive words or actions. The positive change required in sport fandom is for the people to use their voice in a way to ‘block out’ the negativity by having great conversations which spark ideas and discussions across groups of people.

CRYING
“In part, the arrival of Sarina Wiegman, the former Dutch international, who took over the management of England in September 2021. “The culture she brought in, the football philosophy, is completely different from what we’d been used to,” says Mead. “A lot of the girls will say that a couple of years ago they probably didn’t enjoy the environment, the way we were with each other. It was very hostile sometimes. It could be individualised, not as a team.” And, she says, “The coaches allowed it.”
There were bonding exercises. Before the Euros, Wiegman transformed a room at the National Football Centre, in Staffordshire, into a fake campfire, with hot chocolate and marshmallows, and encouraged her players to tell the rest of the team about their journey to this stage. “As a team we’ve done a lot of stuff in the past, but it had felt very forced,” says Mead.
It’s not all touchy-feely sharing sessions. “The Dutch are direct. You know what she expects. You know what she wants. She won’t let you get away with things. If you do something, she’ll tell you and she’ll expect to have to tell you only once.”

i will generally be surprised if he’s still playing in his 30’s
anytime i see a footballer ignoring injuries or not getting enough rest i get scared for them tbh
i remember hazard doing an interview before the euros in 2021 and he was saying that during the first decade of his career he basically had no injuries that forced him to stop playing but then when he got older all the kicks & blows he experienced were catching up to him and his body was starting to fail him pretty much, which is why he had such a disastrous time at real bc he kept relapsing and never fully recovering from his injuries
or umtiti who refused surgery on his knee and took injections instead so he wouldn't miss out on the world cup and yeah he won the world cup that year but fell off ever since
not saying the same will happen to jude but i feel like at his age, at this point in his career, he should especially take good care of his body and make sure he recovers well idk

Got home a couple of hours ago so I haven't checked MUCH of tumblr so forgive me if this was figured out already. I wasn't even planning on figuring it out, it just... happened.
Right! I always love seeing H in football enviroments. I wanted to know which day the photos were from because I wanted to know what match he was watching, jahshassha.
Tumblr media
First, his skin tone. I figured they were from the beginning of the Euros, since he was dillydallying in Italy after that. ALSO, note his nails. Always a giveaway, thanks H.
Tumblr media
This photo is from July 3, in Rome, where he attended the Euros Quarter-finals, England 4-0 Ukraine. See? That man is tan af. There were also a couple of photos with some fans but the fingernails I could see in the pictures were the wrong fingers to compare.
Thanks to @louisshomesharry's very useful timelines, I noticed we had seen H in London on June 12, and what do you know...
Tumblr media
Same nails, same skin tone, same shorts, same sunglasses. Safe to say the Euro photos we got today were from June 13 2021: England's first match, they beat Croatia 1-0.
Tumblr media
Other fun facts:
Harry then arrived in Venice on June 14 to finish shooting My Policeman.
Louis was last seen on June 10, meeting a bunch of fans outside the recording studio in London. He then went MIA until June 29, where he popped up at a pub to watch England v. Germany, and then kept being out and about in pubs and public spaces where football matches were being screened.
There were rumours of Louis being spotted in Italy during his MIA time, but only receipts so... However, there were some funny Louis tweets, yknow, weather is shit because "it's England, love", etc etc.
Harry was last seen in Italy on July 3rd, the day of the match. After filming was done, he was photographed alone enjoying some time off, and theeen... dillydallying with the stunt started on June 30. Lol.
Don't you just love... science and edibles.

28° 31' 24" N 16° 20' 1" W. That's what he points out in the photo that accompanies this letter. Pedri González López, one of the best young midfielders in the world, silver medalist in the Olympic Games, winner of the League with Barça, Golden Boy in 2021, owner of a dizzying termination clause of one billion euros … and, however, that is what Pedri points out. Those are the figures that interest him. 28° 31' 24" N 16° 20' 1" W. The coordinates of Tegueste, a small town in Tenerife with no more than 11,000 inhabitants. His own. The same one where his parents have been running a restaurant (Tasca Fernando) for decades, that serves, Pedri's word, the best croquettes in the world. Fernando and María Rosario are still there, with no intention of retiring, among papas, bubangos, cebollas rellenas de carne and, of course, those croquettes that their son has made famous by praising them every time they put a mic in front of him. And there is still the 'la peña barcelonista', founded by his grandfather Antonio, the same one who dressed him in azulgrana and introduced him to what would be the club he would dream of every night hugging a ball. And there are also his best friends. The ones he always had. The ones who played tirelessly at the door of the tavern, until his grandmother Candelaria, fed up with broken glass and lanterns, tried to tear the ball.
The one who is not there anymore is Fernando, his brother. Because Pedri couldn't bring Tegueste to Barcelona, so he brought him. To have a rival to beat for the umpteenth time in teqball and to be able to tell him that he will have to find a decent opponent. To use the two PS5 controllers and play FIFA or Rocket League while chatting with those from Tegueste. To comment on the last game of the Troncos in the Kings League and how good Perxitaa is and how he would like to be there if he didn't have a contract with Barça, but not in La Velada IV, he doesn't like being beaten in front of so many people, how embarrassing… And, above all, to repeat to him to be calm, to enjoy it. To remind him every day who he is and where he comes from. If it were necessary, because, at just twenty years of age, Pedri has a La Liga title, a billion-dollar buyout clause and now a Men's Health cover. But above all, he has an astonishing normality for someone called to be in the Olympus of football… and a finger that always points to Tegueste. And it's not just a gesture. It is a declaration of intentions. Those are the numbers that really matter to him. The coordinates he does not want to lose sight of. He lands on them as soon as he can, so he can keep flying.

From the danish podcast "bag om trøjen" with Pernille Harder an Katrine Veje
I have finally listed to the whole podcast, and have tried to translate most of the podcast, not word by word, but just overall what they said, I know it's a bit long 😅
It was recorded back in February
The things in this color is the best parts (at least what I think)
instagram
Talking about club
03:52 - It's only in Denmark I'm called Harder, everywhere else I'm called P
04:20 - How much do the shirts mean for you Veje?
explains that she only wants to switch her NT jersey with "bigger" teams and not teams like Azerbaijan and Malta. They mean a lot to her. But she never says no.
10:30 - Pernille picks up Veje's Arsenal shirt "ew, I don't think I can do this"
05:20 How much do the shirts mean for you Pernille?
- "My shirts, or the one I swap to"
- They all bring up some good memories.
- It's often in the final rounds that I switch as there are some of the "better" teams
- The one I'm probably the happiest about is Marta da Silva, I think it was in 2012, she also wears number 10. She is one of my biggest idols as a kid.
17:45 - Talking about the FA Cup on 5 December 2021 winning over Veje
13:30 - How was your start in Chelsea
- There was a big pressure as I was the most expensive player and just was named UEFA player of the year, but I think it was pretty well
Talking about worst/toughest player
19:20 - Pernille is asked first, the host and Veje think she's thinking about Troelsgaard as she says it's a teammate, but then she says it's Millie Bright.
- She's just going 100 percent in the tackles no matter if she gets the ball or not. She trains like she plays games. So sometimes you get to feel what she’s capable of
Katrines time in Montpellier
20:10 - Veje is next
- Troelsgaard must be the thought, she also trains as the play's games but has become better over the years
Listeners questions
21:30 - Before we went to the euro's 2017 i signed with Montpellier. I had a good start, played well and came on the world's top 100 list. Then there is a meeting just after the summer where she is told that some English clubs are interested in her and then the club starts not to treat her well.
- At a time, she trained with the U19 team, which was low, she felt it was kind of a punishment.
- Today when she's thinking bad, she still has good memories and good friends. It's not only bad things, but of course they still are there.
- She remembers a friendly against Barcelona where she starts out, then come on the field to play 12 minutes and was taken out again
- She learned a lot in that time and how to handle it. It was a tough time mentally and she considered stopping her career as it wasn't fun at all.
- At the U19 team, she was in the matchday squad, bet then they just take her shirt in front of her and put it back in the bag.
- (Harder interrupts) I don't know how they can treat people like that, it's inhuman, just because they heard she might be interested in moving on in her career to a new club
28:00 - Which shirt would be the biggest to swap to
- Pernille: It's hard to say, in the club we don't have shirts to swap them away, we mostly only have one. But I have the one I want the most.
- 28:55 - I swapped once with Megan Rapinoe and that is the one, I'm the happiest about
Talking early days/debuts with the NT
29:40 - What is it like to experience the development women's football is undergoing
- Pernille, there has happened so much in the last five years, people have started to be more interested and especially the TV streams have become a lot better, in the past, the matches were only filmed with a hand-held camera from one angle and then it is clear that people found it boring to watch women's football. It is something that has irritated me a lot. So, I'm happy that, that part is becoming better.
32:35 - Do you remember your debuts
- Pernille, I think it was a good game to have a debut against, I scored a hat trick and there also was another debutant who did that as well
33:50 - Talking about shirt numbers at NT
33:20 - Pernille
- I played Right back in a pretty important Worldcup playoff match against Switzerland (host: how did what go) well I was put as an attacking midfielder in the second half, I think that says it all about my performance 😂 and i have never played back since
Euros 2017
36:20 Veje had a chance where she was totally alone in front of the goal, without the goalkeeper. She then shot over the goal, and one of the teammates just yells "what the h*ll are you doing"
24:30 - The semifinal was postponed
- Veje, when we were warming up the ball didn't move at all, we have to chip the ball to each other.
- We went down to the changing room and our clothes got tumble-dried, at this time the game wasn't postponed to the day after yet, just a later kickoff.
- Pernille, when we were waiting for the game to start, I remember talking to a club teammate and the game was still not postponed
- Then we go out and warm up for a second time and after that warmup, we were told that the game had been moved to the day after, and I just thought "okay, then let's just go home and sleep" 😂
38:00 - Because of the later kickoff Denmark had packed their bags beforehand, and Germany hadn't
40:30 - After the tournament, my girlfriend and I went on vacation, I was mentally and physically exhausted and she told me I was the most boring to be on vacation with, we didn't do anything, and I just walked around in my own thoughts
38:30 - The final
- Pernille, the final was a special feeling. We were all exhausted, but still proud of what we had achieved
42:22 - Snoring
- Sofie Junge snores and we were roomies under the euro's 2017
- Pernille also sleeps with earplugs at home because Magda snores and takes very deep breaths, and it annoys her too much to not have them in. I think I have become addicted to them when I sleep alone today, I still sleep with earplugs

I'm French so obviously delighted about last night's game but I'm surprised to read so many people were rooting for England to lose! I thought France was more widely disliked than that, but perhaps I was just giving my country too much importance haha 😂 or perhaps England just is a special case. Also, Paris and its suburb are going to be very split next Wednesday. If France loses, for sure I'll be rooting for Morocco in the final anyway.
Everyone who's not already a diehard fan hates the English men's football team for reasons that are not really the individual players' fault but connected to the broader context: 1) it's a vehicle for constant nationalist, chauvinist, racist etc behavior (see the scenes at the Euro 2021 final at Wembley and the racist abuse of black players for missing penalties), 2) the constant IT’S COMING HOME!! chant which rubs everyone as extremely arrogant considering they have not won the WC since 1966 and have a spectacular track record of failure since, and 3) the fact that any success at the World Cup would once more be used as triumphalist jingoism by the Tories, rather than focusing on the issues that are literally turning the UK into a failed state before our eyes. (See the Iran supporters celebrating when their team went out, because they knew any victory would be used for propaganda purposes by the regime they are protesting against/trying to bring down.)
In short, people hate the English team because it represents England as a nation-state, regardless of whether this has anything to do with the players (who again, I emphasise, are not really at fault, and Marcus Rashford in particular has done a lot of good in forcing the government to keep providing free school meals). And what with Brexit, the wall-to-wall racist tabloid screaming about Harry and Meghan, the constant sentimental memorializing of the queen/British Empire etc etc (remember, the joke is that you can make friends in any part of the world by ordering the local drink and commiserating about that awful thing the British did here one time), that is thus reflected on the football team. So yes, that's what is going on here.
