Ampora letter holder complete! though i doubt ill be putting much in it for now 😂 this took abt a month and two weeks. (including time to fuck off and play disco elesium) mostly acrylic paint on wood; the bottoms have washi tape. 'ampora brainrot made manifest' or alternatively, 'neuropathy vs hotglue vs all these goddamm beads'

symbolism choice explanation under the cut

Ok so Eridans level: that main piece with the hope symbol being overtaken by smth eldritch was the idea that kicked off this whole piece. representative of him 'going grimdark' (or pretty close). pile of treasure, wizard statue, and column taken directly from his intro and view of his room. added a few wizard refs with the scroll and book, the wand referenced from cannon. treasure map references Vriska, and hence his Flarp days where he would get all this treasure.globe with a bleeding rainbow = his genocide plans, the gun some contraption Vriska made ( peep the eight dots). Pisces symbols on the 'floor' of it to 1) make it look kinda like a royal hallway and 2) if Vriska got a a reference fef should have one for him as well.prominent women in his life. thats all here.

Cro's level: one hundred and ten percent influenced by @casanovasadmiral 's Cronus. car featured is inspired by the 1950s pontiac chieftan, but with a more futuristic sound board thing on the dash. the amphora pouring lighting was also inspired by them. records thrown in there, a spiderweb over old wizarding stuff. designed the guitar myself, after an old electric guitar style. quadrant symbols instead of music notes <3

dualscar's level: ok so he gets the most nautical themes for having lived on the sea / actually sailing vs eridan = only 'seen' on a working ship for flarp purposes, doesn't swim (according to feferi). if cronus has sailed before ill eat my own left foot (cannon cronus ofc). hes got a nautical compass, with crossed cannons in the middle (in tattoos this means military service) i decided on the shark bc while they had seahorse lusii i think the amporas are overall shark-like, esp in the teeth. hes got the condencese's symbols/chains handing off of him, symbolic of his service. the amphoras pictures depict whats in them; from left to right: grapes = wine, sugarcane = rum, wheat = whiskey. then we've got gyblob lifting up a black pearl, known for mystery. and lightning striking behind that in the form of his sign. you cant see it too well but it has silver paint on the lightning as well

the large amphoras spilling ribbon have the Aquarius constellation on them.

now onto making a Maryam and a Captor piece...

hey eridan, since youre the Anthropologist ill direct this at you; does the amphora mean anything special/specific to yall? since it is a symbol associated with the aquarius sign on earth, does it mean anything different to you?

certainly. i havve an amphora vvase tattooed on my hip, and cro used to havve a rather large piece on his back depicting one pouring lightning.

in terms of symbolism, they are representativve of responsibility, honor, travvel, and evven pride. i believve this ties into wwhy 'aquarius' drawwings on earth tote one. they wwere used as liquid storage over long journeys, or gifted from gods themselvves like trophies. in any situation, they are beautiful, and covveted.

For this reason, you often became the initiator of your dates

You didn't have the opportunity to drive Eridan to expensive places, so you found other options that didn't require you to spend money. You didn't want Eridan to pay for your dates. You didn't want him to think that all you needed from him was money. Most often you took him to different festivals or you entered the cinema together without paying for tickets. Eridan wasn't sure if it was necessary to do this, but you were convincing enough that he didn't argue with you

Eridan saw perfectly well that you gave yourself completely to your relationship. He wasn't going to fall behind and quite often arranged unplanned dates. He could come to your hive when you didn't expect it and put you in front of the fact that you were going on a date and that refusals are not accepted. Eridan always took you to expensive places, which is why other visitors looked at you with dislike. Due to the fact that you came with Eridan, few people said anything against it, but when this still happened, Eridan did not stay away. He understood that you could stand up for yourself, but he didn't want to spoil your impression of the place he chose even more by the fact that he didn't stand up for you

Despite your differences, you enjoyed your dates. It didn't matter to you whether you were going to an expensive place or going to a concert without tickets. You were together and you had a good time together. That was the most important thing for both of you

as for eridan facts-

i said before how ampora comes from amphora!! water jugs!! so! eridans first name is also like.. a couple things - eridanos is the name of a river poured down to earth BY aquarius in the myth, and its also the name of a constellation (eridanus, with a u) - his name also couldve come from ERIDANI, which (alongside actuslly having been an alternate name proposed by someone for alternia), is a star in the eridanus constellation! his weapon, ahab's crosshairs, is also a reference - its named for captain ahab, the man in moby dick, who died trying to harpoon moby!! (slighrly related and funny, the first thing eridan is seen doing is actually using the weapon to kill a whale)

Note

The name Eridan was given by Tenebrais. His name may be derived from the river Eridanos, which was poured onto the Earth by Aquarius in Greek myth, or may derived from the constellation Eridanus. Alternatively, Eridan may have been based off of the user Terin's name for Alternia, which was Eridani. This is also the name of a star in the Aquarius constellation [citation needed]. His first name read backwards is Nadire; a nadir is a lowest point, or a point of greatest adversity or despair. However, this could be a coincidence.

Ampora is likely derived from the amphora, a type of Greek vessel for carrying liquids which is often seen in depictions of Aquarius. Ampora means protection [citation needed] which could be ironic, considering he does the exact opposite. Ampora could come from ampere (the base unit of electric current in the International System of Units), since the energy he can create with his wand has a resemblence to electricity. Taking the first syllable of his first name and the last syllable of his last name gives Eri Pora which sounds somewhat like "Harry Potter", although that could be coincidence. Eridan also resembles the word eradicate, possibly referencing his genocidal tendencies. He presumably took his Trollian handle from Troll Caligula.

Eridan wields Ahab's Crosshairs, a lightning gun he found in a ghost ship along with Vriska's Fluorite Octet. The very first thing he was seen doing was using the gun to kill a flying whale . He did this to feed Feferi's lusus, in order to keep its voice down.

Eridan is an especially powerful and influential member of the nautical aristocracy that wants one of Vriska's doomsday devices , apparently intended to kill all land dwellers.

Being introduced last along with Feferi, Eridan appeared the least out of the twelve trolls during Hivebent and currently has the least number of appearances for a troll character overall. He was the only troll whose planet was not properly introduced, and he was also initially not given a mythological role, an exclusion he shared only with Gamzee.

Upon arriving on his planet, the Land of Wrath and Angels, Eridan began slaughtering the inhabiting angels . He found the angels were difficult to kill, requiring at least a minute of constant fire from Ahab's Crosshairs. The angels were not intended to be his enemies, though it is unknown what purpose they were meant to serve. However, according to Doc Scratch, they had some role in granting Eridan his deadly “wwhite science” powers. Sollux, possibly prematurely showing some access to his abilities as the Mage of Doom, talks about an angel as “2ome terriible mythiical demon. wiith the2e awful feathery wiing2. paradox 2pace u2e2 them two u2her iin the end.”

Whilst hiding in the lab from with the other trolls, he comes to the conclusion that there is no hope left and informs both Feferi and Sollux of his plans to join Jack Noir. Feferi refuses an invitation to join him, and Sollux decides that he has to stop Eridan and challenges him to another duel. Sollux's eye beams are no match for Eridan's magic science wand and he is knocked out . When Feferi attacks Eridan in retaliation, he kills her .

Kanaya looks on in horror at the murder and starts to go for her weapon, while Eridan holds his wand at the ready. When Kanaya hesitates because of the Matriorb next to her, Eridan obliterates it (destroying the hope of troll re-population, which is appropriate, given his mythological role) and then kills Kanaya when she attacks him. Eridan absconds from the room through the transportaliser as Karkat stares in disbelief at the carnage. Kanaya, after returning from the dead, finds Eridan along with Gamzee and Vriska in a 3x showdown . She promptly disables the latter two, "debunks " Eridan's wand, and pulls out her chainsaw, sawing him in half .

A ghost Eridan is later seen in the Ministrife flash lamenting his tragic situation. Cronus, his dancestor, flirts with him and asks him out, which Eridan agrees to, but not before expressing his disdain for him.

One of the IMPETUS COMBS is complete! There are two more on its heels that will also be finished very soon! The completed comb is fitted into the TECTON HIVE. The LAZY SUSAN OF ENDOWMENT is spun to position PI's SUCKLE AMPHORA beneath the hive.
