Once Price realizes his not-so-platonic attachment to his soldiers, he is immediately wary of Ghost.

The man has always had an uncanny ability to sense another’s intentions, and while Price is exceptional at keeping secrets, necessary for the trade, he isn’t so sure he can keep this one from Simon Riley.

If it was just Simon, he would maybe be able to bank on the man’s own blind spot - but his sergeant as well? One reason Price was actually okay with the two of them together in the first place was because he knew Ghost would watch out for Soap better than anyone else.

Unfortunately, that meant that Prices developing attachment would be spotted the instant he showed any kind of change in his behavior. His giant idiotic feelings would be like a flare to Ghost, no buts about it. He can’t let anything slip through unintentionally. Anything.

And so that very first time he allows himself to picture sweet Johnny mactavish, strung out on the efforts of his Simon…the first time he looses himself in the sweet taste of their names on his lips, sweat cooling on his brow and the evidence of his damnation starting to stick in his happy trail, he knows he needs a plan.

Either way, he’s probably fucked. Of all the things to get court martialled over… But he can at least try to do this with any sense of coordination, instead of bumbling into it like those two idiots did.

That’s why they made him captain, after all.

So after half heartedly mopping the spend off his hand, he pulls out his notebook, and starts writing. He scribbles until his hand cramps, into the early hours of the morning. He tries to think of every possible scenario, every way he could manipulate things into working out even marginally well. But no matter how he plays with these puzzle pieces, the best he can figure is this:

There’s no way he can hide this for long. He either has to break up the team, or sink with the ship.

Cause attraction? He could hide that. He’s been doing it for years without even realizing it, he could slip that coat back on no problem. But now that his attraction has made him realize how massive of a weak point soap and ghost are for him…how much he cares, god damn it, he doesn’t think he can keep it out of his eyes.

He knows the second he sees them again, he’ll be bending towards them like a flower to the sun, and Ghost will fucking know.

Maybe…maybe it’ll go okay, he allows himself to think. Maybe they’ll nod, and soap will smile that coy, mischievous smile, and step closer. He’ll look back to Ghost, silently asking for permission from the alabaster wall of a man. Ghost will hum, always a sucker for whatever soap wants, and the sergeant will smile, and call him Captain, and fall to his knees, and -

And Simon Riley will fist a hand in that infuriating Mohawk and make soap gag on Price’s cock then and there. “We’ve got you, sir,” Simon would say. “See how good he is?”

And Price would nod, and moan at the site of them both, and lean in and whisper into Simon’s ear what he’s always wanted to tell him.

You’re good, too, Simon. So good. So good for me. Both of you. My boys.

Fuck. There’s no way this goes well.
