So… just finished the new EEE episode and- umm

Did anyone else feel like it was super underwhelming?

Like, I hate complaining because it makes me feel shitty and I really tried to like the episode but it felt so weird.

It felt so fast but also like nothing happened???

Chalky, Diary, feather, and Muffin all felt off and everyone seemed to be talking so fast and the plot just seemed to come out of nowhere but was also not even important??

The only thing that didn’t make it outright awful was the sarcastic Dinos and some stuff with muffin and TOL but other than that it was just not a good watch.

Maybe I’m just to accustom to II’s writing style at this point but it felt very very soulless and almost like Webs was just trying to get an episode out rather than take his time and write plot and the characters.

Hmm, not really. Usually he thinks that certain events just occur and tries to logically justify everything that happens, whether positive or negative, BUT!!! I'd also say that he often simply just doesn't realize that his thoughts do have a component of questioning luck.

me watching artists absolutely mess up how vitiligo works when they draw human Sun n Moon (along with so many other characters)

like. vitiligo isn't an accessory. if you want to give a character vitiligo, don't make it out to be some kind of decorative thing?? it's a skin condition, not a cute add-on. it's harmful to our community when artists make it out to be something it absolutely is not.

I could understand if there were not as many negative things we vitilignes get thrown at us everyday. but that's not the case. and having a bunch of artists treat it so decoratively just makes me eee

Eee! I'm so sorry, i started to answer an then saved to drafts and forgot you!

At what point in the process do I come up with the title?

I try to use lyrics for my titles, and some of them I had as soon as I started writing - 3 AM Wide Awake, Hold Me, My Leathers Fit Tight Around Me. Others were much harder, Driving On Down The Road got a title change after I posted it, and a lot of my wips are saved as document 1, 2 etc, which means if I'm looking for a particular one I have to open all of them!

Have I ever upset myself with my one writing?

Yes! Hold Me, Gods Of Thunder, and there is one line in one of my wips that I cannot read without crying.

A small teaser from one of my wips.

This one is a story from the Hotter Than Hell recording, a combo of Ace's car crash and a story from Paul's book where he nearly got arrested for not having his licence. For dramatic effect, I have written him as being arrested.

Afterwards no one could remember what had set it off.  A bad day, a thoughtless word spoken in anger.   On top of the stress of recording and being away from home for so long everyone’s tempers were frayed.  Ace and Peter had both been drinking steadily since they had returned from the studio several hours earlier.  Sometimes that put them in a very good mood.  Today was not one of those days.  A terrible fight had ensued, and Ace went storming out in a rage.

“That fucking idiot is driving!” shouted Gene at the sound of squealing tires as Ace speed off.  “He’s going to fucking kill himself!”

Although Peter had been screaming at Ace just minutes earlier, he suddenly had the urge to defend his friend.  “And that would make you happy, wouldn’t it!”

“Of course it fucking wouldn’t!”

Bill got between the two of them, placing a calming hand on each.  “Guys, just calm down.”

Gene looked around the room.  “Where’s Paul?”

What no one had noticed was that before Ace stormed out, Paul had already left.  He hated fighting.  He hated anger and aggression.  Negative energy.  Whatever it was, it reminded him of when his parents fought, and he couldn't stand it.

Driving along, radio blasting, wind in his hair, Paul felt the stress melt away.  Music had always been his solace, and he had it so loud that he almost didn’t hear the police siren.  Turning down the music, Paul peered ahead.  Where was the cop?  He could never tell which direction sound was coming from.  Then he glanced in his rear-view mirror.  Fuck!  He’s right behind me!  I wasn’t speeding, was I?

Heart pounding, Paul pulled over.  Hopefully it would be a lady cop.  He could try his charm on her.  The officer approached.  He was a man.

“Licence and registration, please,” he said.

Paul nervously reached for his wallet . . . and realised it wasn’t in his pocket.  He had left in a rush and hadn’t even thought to grab it.  The police in New York never cared.  As it turned out LA police were different.

“I . . . uh . . . I don’t have it.  I left it at the hotel, sorry.”

“Then you’re going to jail.”

“Jail?”  Paul’s blood turned to ice.  “I can’t go to jail.”  Joking around one day, Gene had said if Paul was ever in jail, he’d be the most popular guy there.  “Not looking like this.”

It was to no avail.  Paul was frisked, which if he hadn’t been so scared, he would have found funny.  His jeans were skin-tight, so if he had any weapon other than his love gun in them, it would have been obvious.  Then he was handcuffed and pushed into the police car and taken away.

A few miles away there were no police.  Which may or may not have been fortunate for Ace, as he was taking out his anger by seeing how fast he could drive the winding hill roads.  And when he found he could do it quite fast, he did it again. 

What's a fic idea I've had that I will never write?

I have a couple that I have tried, but are really hard. One is a self insert, me and Paul, pure smut. I've written a little, but then I think about people reading it and I get embarrassed and delete it. The other is really dark and deals with a suicide attempt, again I've written a little, but I don't know how it would be received.

He is so so so patient. Like no matter what this man is not raising his voice, he will gently help with any situation.

Emotions are important, idc what the Jedi code says, without expressing emotions it gets bottled up. That's not right. It's okay to be angry or sad and Obi-Wan will make sure you know that.

If you get overwhelmed (for whatever reason) he is extremely rational and will figure out how best to calm you down.

He's a little cautious about how much affection in public (he's just nervous about the Jedi council finding out but in all reality they already know and are aware that both you and Obi-Wan cope better due to your regression and him being your caregiver)

He can sense if your having a hard time, struggling with some negative emotions and he will absolutely help you!!! <333

<3 He does mean well!! He was raised with a lot of dangerous people, so he was built up to be more rough around the edges. He doesn’t know a lot about love, all he knows is that from the moment he saw you, he felt different!! He didn’t feel dread, spite, or anything negative for once! He just had to learn more about you! Why did you feel so much different than everyone else? From there he grew obsessed. With him being in a very particular group, he has a lot more access to hack into databases or anonymously find whatever he needs to about you online. Plus he also has a ton of things to use on his darling at his disposal :3c

If he ever did he would do anything to make it up to them, gifts, doing favors for you, brining you your enemy’s head, whatever!! Kai can be really cunning and knows what to say to convince people to do what he wants, even his darling! Though he’d always keep his distance from them in person out of fear of scaring them away :<

<3 Kai would have a lot of influence in your life, albeit indirectly. Suddenly when you lose something dear to you, you’ll find it minutes later! If you go to a coffee shop or some store you frequent, you’ll be told the customer before you already paid for your order! It doesn’t happen often enough for you to remember to pay close attention to the man in front of you. Riiiight as you forget to do so, it happens again! Kai is often in control of anything that happens to you from now on. Though he can barely work up the nerve to talk to you TwT

<3 Kai would act like a guardian angel! In a twisted way. If he found out someone was pursuing you..well they won’t be for long ^-^ Regardless of if you would’ve accepted or denied their feelings. Someone won’t leave you alone? They won’t be a problem for much longer. Someone just betrayed your trust? They’ll be the next to disappear. He’ll keep you safe..maybe if on the day he finally gets the courage to talk to you, you won’t completely hate him. He loves you so much..he just doesn’t know how to show it.

<3 Now Milo has a completely different approach. They have a special charm to them and have lived their life knowing how to woo all sorts of different people >< They lived their life being told that everyone loves them and everyone will find him so cute so long as he follows directions.

<3 Ever since he was little he’d always play along, meeting and dating a plethora of people. But no one really made them feel any sort of spark, nothing important. They get tons of guy and girls trying to pursue them, and as much as they’re happy to cater to them, it gets tiring. At least until he met you!!

<3 They didn’t know what to think, from the moment the two of you spoke they knew it was love at first sight!! You two were destined to be together, get married, and live a rich, fulfilling life together ^^ But they knew how this game worked, so while Milo would definitely stalk you, he’s never afraid to walk up to you! In fact they do it nearly all the time! They’ll chalk it up as being in the area and never having been able to miss your cute face.

<3 Milo constantly offers to spend time together and would get so pouty whenever he realized you were hanging out with other people. Why would you need anyone else other than them?? They could give you anything you’d ever want!! But they’re sure you love them just as much as he loves you, just maybe you haven’t realized it! Or maybe you’re just so sweet that you feel bad on letting your friends miss out on how wonderful you are! Still, they’re determined to show you just how much you don’t need them anymore!! Can’t you see that they’d do anything for you? They’ll always wear their cutest outfits or maybe try something more masc if that’s what you prefer! They’ve always been very touchy, but if you seemed hesitant he’d whine and almost beg to keep getting to hug you.

<3 Though after Milo has their sights on you, anything you want is now yours. They make tons of money being a model and all. If you’re ever home alone and talk out loud or are looking for a certain product you wished you have, it’d be in your house the very next day! (Milo had to resist putting a pretty pink bow on it to show it was from them) Of course they sneak into their darling’s house when they’re away, they love seeing the space their darling resides in!! What you like, what you seem not to like, everything! It’s almost like you two lived together! x3 And of course Milo tends to steal a shirt or two, maybe a jacket. They cant help it! Wearing something of yours, being able to smell you on it, it’d make them so happy. Especially if it was a liiiittle big on them, they’d be so happy ^^

Cyrus (answering for pallybarb for the first two and ranger for the third)

barbarian: What makes your muse angry? How do they manage their anger? Has their rage ever led them to destroy something important?

In typical lawful good fashion, the things that make Cyrus the angriest are things like injustice, cruelty, indifference toward others, greed, etc. Above all else what makes him furious is hurting the people he cares about.

Initially, like a lot of his negative emotions, instead of managing his anger, Cyrus just kind of swallows it (unless he can easily smite its source). It's only through meeting Karlach and having her teach him how to be a barbarian that he learns how to make that anger productive, but it takes a lot of work. No matter how hard Karlach pushes him to get him to rage during their sparring sessions, he can't unlock his emotions until someone else is at risk (I usually imagine Halsin as the one who volunteers to be Karlach's prop). The first couple of times Cyrus does rage, it's very overwhelming and disorienting, since it undoes so much of the self-possession and self-control that he prides himself on... but Karlach & Halsin call him a good boy, which makes everything better.

And. You know. The dialogue option that broke Cyrus' oath was a barbarian option. So there's always that :)

druid: How does your muse interact with the natural world? Are they good with animals? Plants? Do they keep any pets?

I don't think pallybarb!Cyrus had a ton of thoughtful interaction with nature pre-game. He'd do some adventuring in the woods around Baldur's Gate and along the Chionthar, but he hadn't yet discovered his love for gardening. The Grove was a... mixed experience. On the one hand, I think it sparked a very starry-eyed admiration for druidic magics. On the other, their treatment of the tiefling refugees and Kagha's dealings with the Shadow Druids upset him greatly.

So meeting Halsin and hearing how he talks about nature and being able to help him heal the Shadowlands are pivotal for Cyrus, laying the groundwork for him to (centuries down the line) become an Oath of the Ancients paladin at Halsin's side.

As a wild heart barbarian, he can cast speak with animals and does so constantly. I think he and Halsin get some little planters going in the Elfsong Tavern in Act 3 so being stuck in the city doesn't feel quite so maddening for Halsin, and that's how Cyrus discovers his green thumb.

Re pets: Avernus isn't a. Great environment for that lol. I think Scratch stays with Shadowheart post-game (Cyrus has always had a mild phobia of dogs anyway...) and the owlbear goes with Halsin until Cyrus and Karlach return and take it on their adventures across Faerun.

warlock: Has your muse ever made a deal to get something they wanted? Is there anything your muse wants enough to broker for it? What would your muse sacrifice to get what they want?

Cyrus' preoccupation with being self-sufficient (ranger!Cyrus even more so) gives him a decent measure of resistance against temptation, but FUCK does he come close to making a stupid deal with Raphael after the Emperor threatens to make him a thrall. Raphael offers him not just a night of respite from the Emperor's omnipresence--pervasive and heavy even when the Emperor isn't exerting its will over Cyrus--but as many nights and sweet dreams as he wants until the Elder Brain is defeated... in exchange for Cyrus being Raphael's locus of control on the Council of Chosen through influencing Duke!Wyll. And Cyrus would sooner damn his soul to the Hells than compromise Wyll, so the deal is functionally equivalent to condemning himself to the House of Hope, and as panicked as he is, Cyrus is cognizant of that fact.

...And he seriously considers the deal anyway.

And even though he ultimately rejects it, he does still make the deal to trade the Crown of Karsus for getting the Orphic Hammer immediately. And it's never far from hand.

Self-sacrifice is still instinctive for Cyrus, even if he's tried so hard to break himself of that habit.

Yiseeril

paladin: What does your muse fight for? What tenets or oaths drive them? Have they ever had to break a vow, and if they have, why?

Yiseeril fights for herself, for her friends, for power, and for the bit. The closest thing to a tenet or oath that drives her is power good, but even that is. Flexible, given that there's very much a timeline where that pursuit is tempered.

I think if Yiseeril makes a vow, she either (a) is being a lying liar about it & thus breaking it doesn't hold any moral weight for her or (b) believes it with her whole irradiated chest & thus would never want to break it (i.e., her vow to Minthara that she'll stay with her & that they'll take over the Absolute together).

The one exception might be the vows she took when she became a Haruspex of Oghma. Certainly post-tadpole-ing she's stopped observing any rituals or complying with the strict mandates of her abbey or even praying to Oghma except in moments of crisis, but I think she's still following the spirit of those vows to protect, preserve, and pursue knowledge and to embody the voice of creativity.

cleric: Does your muse believe in any god or follow any religion? What drives their faith? Or, if they're faithless, why? What would it take for them to find faith in something or someone?

Nothing is so emblematic of Yiseeril's fundamental uncertainty and unmooring like her relationship to faith. She was (obviously) a follower of Oghma, raised by an order of monks called the Children of the Passive Voice who trained her relentlessly from birth to undergo the rite for which the sect was named-- one that would make her the one 'true' conduit for Oghma's divine and infinite knowledge on the Material Plane.

The ritual succeeded somewhat but left her mind broken and her divinity fallen until the tadpole returned some measure of autonomy to her, and now....................................

Yiseeril hasn't had any time to grow out of the 'world's best sacrificial lamb' mindset that she was raised in, feeding an aching desire to be loved by a god any god it doesn't have to be Oghma she flirts with the Absolute's love with Shar's love with anything that will have her.

But. She is also painfully aware of how divinity has ruined her. And the only thing she hates more than Oghma--for failing her, for allowing his followers to destroy her, for not saving her--is the fact that he seems to be protecting her now. The fact that every time she reaches out to him--for spells, for blessings, for shelter in a moment of panic--he answers. The fact that everything she does feels like service to him. Her curiosity. Her thirst for knowledge. Her music and her bard magic and her creativity and her inspiration, she wants it to be for herself, but it still feels like worship.

Like the engraving you find the Chapel of Jergal: through knowledge comes atonement.

She finds faith more readily in her new friends, and in Minthara in particular (gay). It gives her something to hold onto when the cognitive dissonance of her relationship to Oghma gets too overwhelming.

I was thinking of kingscholar!(name) having to do with bugs because people often underestimate bugs and think them to be useless, when they are actually a vital part of our ecosystem! Also kinda came from me thinking of different scenes in the Lion King original movie.

For Ashengrotto!(name), I definitely came up with them knowing stuff without knowing why from the seagull in the original little mermaid movie. They kinda just… know stuff? But they don’t know the actual names lol

Truth be told, I think, dang it I really can’t spell Vil’s last name. Imma call them Gala Sprout. Gala cause it’s a type of apple and also a type of fancy event and Sprout cause they’re still growing. Also apples cause apple seeds are actually poisonous and contain cyanide. So that’s a fun fact ^w^ now. Where was I? Oh. Yes. Gala Sprout(I’m just calling them that. That’s my nickname for them, you can have a different one, I just can’t spell Vil’s last name)’s UM was actually my favorite of the ones I made I think. Either theirs or Kingscholar’s is my favorite. I came up with theirs from how things are perceived and beauty can be subjective. Also, did you know Snow White in the movie was 14? So I think that makes the dynamic even better with Gala Sprout being younger. Would they ever try and talk to Neige? Or would they just flat out ignore him because of Vil and wanting his approval/attention? Also, I feel That Gala Sprout’s UM has some of the most potential to go dark… a wolf in black sheep’s clothing… (yes I am that same person lol)

so, for the lil gala sprout, i don't think they would want to talk to neige? it isn't because they don't like him or anything, it's just that 1) they definitely want vil's approval. 2) they don't want the attention from anyone else. see, neige is this big celebrity and if they were ever caught talking to him, they would have so much (most likely negative) attention from the press.

What was one thing about developing Kali that you needed to tweak to get right?

Kali was originally Ciprys, my main play character. When I started shipping her with Thancred, @sylaurin rightly got a teeny bit annoyed (as Ciprys happens to be married to her Cirdan XD) and I decided to create a new character to ship with Thancred instead.

When transferring Ciprys to Kali, I realized that there were certain personality traits that I had assigned the original Ciprys that I really did not like (and subsequently stripped entirely from both Kali and Ciprys, giving Cip a completely different and much more fun personality and tempering them in Kali).

The original Ciprys was far more self-destructive; she was inclined towards self-hatred and loathing and would often throw herself into dangerous situations not because she needed to, but because she wanted to. While not actively suicidal, she didn't feel worthy of survival and courted death assiduously. (You can see an echo of this in Nadir, which is NOT a canon story for Kali, but is for the original Ciprys).

I started writing her during a really bad point in my career, and it translated into a really negative character. By the time I created Kali, things had improved, and that translated to an overall more optimistic character. While Kali still has self-esteem and self-worth issues, they're far more manageable and she most definitely has a very strong survival instinct - and a lot more reasons to want to live.

Some people (eyes @sasslett) think Kali is still too hard on herself, but for me, she hits just the right notes of self-confident (as the Warrior), and uncertain (as a woman) to keep her from being arrogant or overbearingly perfect.

What is your favorite trait of Kali's?

My favorite trait of Kali's is her love for learning; it's one of those self-insert traits that I tend to add to almost every character I play. I love learning. If I could, I would spend my entire life in school just studying every subject I could get my hands on. In Kali, it's that drive to learn that sends her out adventuring, that makes her look to see what's beyond the next hill, that makes her so eager to be a part of the Studium. And I love how it shows in every part of her, from the Warrior, to the crafter, to the woman.

Is it cheating to say the imagery is top-notch? (Certain erm. Costume mock-ups notwithstanding.) We've got a bonafide 90's gothic romance in Gotham City, and the death-and-the-maiden symbolism of it all makes me feel like I'm twelve again and watching Phantom of the Opera onstage and subsequently having my brain rewired. And the quotes around it are just iconic for any horror romance fan worth their salt. I mean, "Eventually, the victim desires the horror?" Good GRAVY that hit the spot!

It's so thematically rich! While I would like to see it fleshed out more, I truly meant it in a previous ask when I talked about how the relationship between a girl and her monster can be something so personal. What really elevates this ship for me (because "burn the world for her" has become a bit of a cliche on its own) is the ways in which they're able to unexpectedly connect and grow positively despite the incredibly negative circumstances of their meeting. Becky's monologue in the hospital about how the fear toxin actually helped her to confront her repressed bullying trauma (and therefore, how she came to realize the ways fear can help you grow as a person) was really the turning point for me in getting on board with the ship. Likewise, I always love to see it when a character as cold and ruthless as Crane has a rare moment of empathy (also why I love Study Hall!) as he did for Becky's experiences. Between these two moments, there's an underlying level of compatibility you don't usually see in villainous crush storylines; he (inadvertently) helped her to confront and process her buried pain, and in turn, having shared said pain made him remember some of his own fragmented humanity. Becky recognizes fear as a lifelong companion, and here Jonathan is, trying to be fear itself.

But on the opposite end of the previous point, I really love that their canon traits and resolution firmly root their opposing viewpoints. Becky holds firm to her morals and won't give in to hatred and revenge when Crane offers it to her after finding it worked wonders for him (it didn't). Likewise, Jonathan won't melt and suddenly be made to comprehend good and forgiveness because it's the path Becky's taken. This push-and-pull between two people who have the aforementioned connection is delicious and exciting, and gives each of the characters an integrity that enriches it beyond your standard villainous crush story. Also allows you to have your cake and eat it too with the whole "burn the world for her" trope which I often find poorly executed in villain romances — Becky is not okay with this! His way is wrong to her! But meanwhile...he can carry the guilt of that bully revenge fantasy. (I think to elaborate on this, my issue is usually that if the good partner is truly 'good', why are they okay with their partner committing atrocities? I could never get past that lack of a challenge if it wasn't narratively justified in some way - such as the worldbuilding/character's past conditioning acceptance of some flatly unacceptable stuff, it always made them come off as selfish to me and weakened the storytelling wrt the contrasting morality, because buddy, that's complicity!) And the thing is, because of this contrast, the power shifts are all the tastier; he's still a fearsome villain, but this girl everyone overlooked or underestimated brings him to his knees with her steadfast morals. Bruce even ends off New Years' Evil saying she might be the one thing that frightens him!

....as you can see, yeah, the brainrot is real.
