Honestly I’m not even sure how to gather the words to describe the second hand embarrassment I got from Jeff being all confident and shit in the start of the interview but then get his shit backhanded when he said that he DID NOT EVEN READ THE ARTICLE?!?! how is he so stupid?? not even being prepared, tragic. 

It’s amusing to see Jeff flip flop over his story he can’t even keep track with the time stamps he’s spewing out. It’s soooo CRINGE to see him just get destroyed when Ethan showed him that photo evidence that included the time stamp. Truly, disproving his statement of only being their 15 mins, or 30 mins honestly, which is it Jeff?? 

It pissed me off that it seems like he was urged to make his video and interview with Frenemies is because his sponsorships were getting pulled. But what really angered me how he keeps attacking the author of the article, saying that should be fired? Jeff so are you saying that the victims that came out to tell their story are in the wrong too or are you just upset because u can’t get ur way through shit anymore aww

I also found it funny how he didn’t want to get into his health problems in the past during the interview but them proceeds to bring up Trisha’s suicide attempts and her going to the mental hospital?? I’m- 

This is a literal car crash that never ends, and honestly its kinda satisfying to see the vlog squad’s members true colors coming out.

Just remembered I had this blog and I just want to say that while Jeff is getting better press I have not forgotten about the accusations against them.

David’s half ass apology meant nothing to me, the inaction of many Vlog Squad members is questionable, Jason Nash is still weird, and the culture of peer pressure in the VS has still not been called out. Seth’s SA has not been acknowledged and Jason Nash has faced little to no scrutiny.

Trisha tweeted, “Jason texting one of his hookups an hour before he texted me thinking all I ever wanted was for him to acknowledge me and “it all stops”  bish this is way beyond me ....ur a predator, an assualter, and a coward. I’m just supporting other people’s voices”

I disagree with Jason’s mentality that a woman needs a man to acknowledge her in order to get her to “shut up” about the truth. How is what happened here related to giving Trisha Paytas attention? He is small dick energy. Jason sent Trisha an iMessage with a heart emoji, after years of excommunicating her. That is predatory in itself. It’s not the appropriate reaction or response to r-word and sexual assault. Somebody needs to be arrested by yesterday. David Dobrik, Jason Nash, and Durte Dom can “make this stop” by turning themselves over to the authorities. The screenshots of all these olive branch phone calls, text messages, and social media posts from former Vlog Squad members are incriminating. Jason’s behaviors are being discussed by Trisha (and the entire internet) because not only did she date him, she was partial to the Vlog Squad, and she cited horrific things that happened in these “boys only” environments. It needs to be addressed. It’s okay if she’s bitter, by the way. It doesn’t change the truth. —My input

     Didn’t see that coming. The person in that apology video, was the David I thought would have come forward the first time. Better late than never. It doesn’t matter the repercussions that happens to him do to his failures so far when it came to handling this situation, this isn’t about a win for him, this is about justice and doing the right thing! Fuck his sponsors, fuck his money, he can rest here knowing at least he has a soul and empathy. That he can learn, and be an example. He’ll be fine is my point. Even if he isn’t believed, or trusted, or forgiven, he’ll be fine. This is about the victims, this is about metoo. 

     This apology isn’t ours to have or accept, this is about the alleged victims. Only they can accept it. However knowing society, they will over reach on all sides. This isn’t the moment where we let this go, this is the moment we continue to watch wait for accountability and answers. David isn’t done here with that video, this is just the beginning. He has a lot of work to do. He better.

     There were a lot of revelations, things I already suspected. Not sure if they’re true, but I believe David here when he says his truth, but with a grain of salt. It is David after all. As much as I believe he has changed, he allowed this situation to go too far at this point, and handled all of this poorly which shows this was a very recent awakening for him, and that just doesn’t cut it. He has more work to do! 

     There are public apologies that are still owed, regardless of the private ones. There are things that need to be acknowledged and said publicly and out loud. I’m waiting and looking for that. Only then will I truly know for me the sincerity of his words, is by his actions moving forward. I understand why David is the way he is, did what he did, and acts the way he does. Being from another country, moving to LA, being around the sin of it all and that life style, and being a product of AMERICA’S Racist, bigoted, misogynistic, systemic social political economical unequal society, and the uplifting of heteronormative cis white “straight” men, he is unsurprising to me.  

    This isn’t new, it’s old, it’s tired and old. Never however have a truly seen that owned. David came close, but not close enough for me. Showing understanding is a good start. I want the best for everyone involved, and I hope the truth, the real truth and not just allegations and speculations to come out. People need closure, people need the truth, people need accountability, but for right now, we’ll start with this real apology, and take the blessings of this moment where people on all sides can educate themselves, including me, on what’s happening in our society, and what it truly means and what it looks like when you believe victims. 

ps, the people making this about them are trash, this ain’t about you, and the people taking away this moment to say David is only doing this now because he’s trying save his ass, he got caught because he lost sponsors?

     Baby, let me educate your tired ass. The boys a millionaire, he’ll be fine, this ain’t about you wanting blood and carnage because you are projecting yourself into this while helping outrage culture trolls userp the movement to tare it down. Don’t remove or diminish this important moment of an apology of any real substance, so those watching this privileged young man go through this and do this, is what you have to do and should do. We NEED these moments damnit. We need this so more people take fucking accountability, and not just post a video titled Let’s Talk!

A Vlogsquad case study. Started March 23 2021

Tw. Sexual Assult, Power Dynamics, Homophobia

   After the most recent expose of the Vlog squad, specifically the sexual assault allegations against Dom Zeglaitism, and Jason Nash, I thought I’d take a closer look at the culture surround the Vlog squad, which is primarily centered around David Dobrik’s youtube channel.

   David’s youtube channel is characterized by all caps titles, sexy thumbnails, and classic reaction faces towards the side. The one difference between him and every other clickbait youtuber is that his “clickbait” actually happens, this is what attracts people to his videos, that those extremes are really happening, but there is also a weird angle that it is also fake. While the extremes like “steve-o jumps off the roof” actually happen, there are also skits put in between, and while this happens it starts to blur the lines between what's real and what's fake.

   Now while you can tell what's obviously fake like the skits that were common at the start of the video, Trisha has spoken about how David would ask people to re-shoot the “scenes”, or tell everyone to laugh harder after a person says the punchline. So now we don’t know if even the general reaction to jokes is genuine. So now we have an environment where we assume everything is talked about behind the scenes, while also simultaneously being real, and it doesn't help that since David is doing a highlight reel to cram all the best extreme moments into 4:20, we don't get to see the true context of the environment around the moment that we see.

   Since David’s youtube channel is the center of the Vlog squad, and thus makes the most money, there is  a large power dynamic between David and the rest of the Vlog squad, a power dynamic they all seem to acknowledge with them referring to David as their “leader” and jokes about how David can make them do anything, in a sense they’re all his ‘dancing monkeys’ This dynamic is most noticeable between David and Jason Nash, where he literally puts Jason in embarrassing situations like putting him in skirts and making him play racist characters, or actually in actual harms way like letting animals bite him, or the time they ripped off his chest hair with a power drill.

   Now if David and crew could acknowledge the power dynamic between David and the rest of the Vlog squad, why could they not acknowledge the power dynamic between them and the fans? At one point in The View’s podcast, in the episode Titled  “sex at my moms aprartment” at 5:52  David and Jason talk about a unnamed person who is a influencer, who will give female fans shoutouts for as long as they give him oral sex. When they stop sucking him off the shoutout gets deleted off. Now  we dont know if these girls are other influencers or are truelty just fans, but if they are also influencers this is the equivalent of a ceo “helping out” a intern for the same “price” They speak about this situation with amusement and refer to it as “amazing” and don't seem to see that this is a clear abuse of power dynamic, now while these girls are consenting to this situation, for more followers,this unnamed dude is using his platform as a famous influencer to get oral sex from girls in exchange for a shorterm shoutout…. It's bizarre to say the least.

   Now granted this podcast episode was posted in December of 2017, but at the time David had  a subscriber count of 5.5 Million Subscribers. That’s 5.5 million people that David has a power dynamic with, where he doesn't realize what is appropriate with them, he barely seems to recognize what’s appropriate between him and fellow influencers. Now I’d understand this not understanding of power dynamic from a newly famous youtuber, but David has been at this for years, and has  a whole team behind him, he’s got assistants, a legal team, and who knows what else, the Vlogsquad must at least have access to it being part of David’s crew and all, and you still don’t realize whats appropriate and what's not?

  It’s about time we got to the largest issue, the fact that Dom has been accused of sexual assault, by taking advantage of a girl, who while was not a fan of them, her friends were,  and coercing her into a threesome when she was too drunk to consent, and even before blocked her into a room and woudnt let her leave until she gave him a kiss. Now, David has come out with a proper apology video for posting the vlog with footage of the day the assault happened, but at the same time it took a failed video from Jeff and  a failed first apology, along with multiple sponsors dropping him to get this apology. The empathetic side of me watched the most recent video and felt like he was genuine, but looking at all that had to come before he even said anything, it really feels too little too late. 

   David said he was distancing himself from Dom, but there are pictures and videos that state otherwise, that even after Dom had been accused of acting inappropriate before, grabbing and kissing another youtuber without her consent, he still stood by him and “took his word” about the misconduct, and even commented on Dom’s apology for that saying he was proud of Dom for owning up to this. After that David still gave him a platform and access to millions of fans, and now we get to see what happens when power dynamics go unchecked.

   Also David has not talked about what happened to Seth Francois, about how he “pranked” him by tricking him into kissing Jason Nash, a middle aged man,  and how he knew that Seth’s friends back home in Compton were homophobic and would react negativly and “chew him out” for it. Seth Even told David and Jason about how “Dudes kissing dudes, is not so accepted”, Jason then goes on to say that this “prank” was “good for Seth” because it gave him airtime….. What in the world, you are basically ruining his reputation in his home town where you know they’re not accepting even if he was tricked into it and then go on to say that it was good for him because it gave him clout.

  Honestly there’s no way to tell if David and co. will change for the better, honestly all we can do is wait and see, and hopefully in the age where anyone can become famous overnight people will learn to take into account power dynamics between influencers and fans, and even with other influencers, lets hope that things change for the better.

Hey all!

TW: Sexual Assault allegations

I wanted to address the David stuff,

I don’t post Vlog Squad content anymore, however I do still have the username ‘dobriksvlogs’.

I am unsure of what really is going on, and I don’t know what to think at this point. Trisha has a shady past of lying and deceit, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that these girls (as well as Seth) are victims of SA. I do not stand with perpetrators of Sexual Assault or Sexual Violence.

I am planning on changing my username, which is currently in the works with finding a new theme and content I want to post. I imagine a mix of Crawford Collins, Marvel, and Knj/21 Crew etc!

As much as I liked this username, it doesn’t accurately reflect my views or interests.

I hope this is cleared up and justice is served where need be.

generally i know that all parties involved have fault in different aspects. but it is really upsetting to see how david dobrik just does not acknowledge it AT ALL?? and its surprising how a lot of people still support him? mostly children i hope (not rlly lol). and i don’t care what anyone says, jason nash’s whole career is one big creep fest. and it is not NORMAL for a man his age to hang around with kids its honestly embarrassing how much hold david has on jason’s balls like this omg

i’m not sure how i feel about david’s apology. i think he did a good job of owning up to his fuck ups, and i hope this creates actual change in david, how he runs his vlogs and the content he creates.

i’m not accepting his apology because it’s not mine to accept. i hope the victims get justice and i hope that they are able to heal from this horrible situation that absolutely could’ve been prevented.
