My top 5 bird-themed movies because why not

Okay, you guys I'm very excited about Illumination's new movie "Migration for a ton of reasons, but the main reason is that I love ducks. I'm personally, as a Chicken Run fan, NOT excited about Chicken Run 2 because I feel like they're going the wrong direction with it. Getting a new director, firing most of the old voices actors, and then Netflix taking over the ownership? No thanks! I'll still give it a try though. Here are my top 5 favorite bird themed movies, and why

(Chicken Run, 2000) I love this movie mainly because of the message and the fact that it tackled some heavy subjects in a family friendly way. The humor is really well done, like most DreamWorks movies, and the voice acting is amazing! I don't recommend it for children as much, but I'd say the age rating to start watching, is maybe 10-12 or older? It's a bit dark but it's still a beautiful movie and there's a character that almost everyone can relate to!

(Storks, 2016) Okay, this one is more for children and family, but has a few subtle jokes that mostly adults will understand,. I personally think it still has an amazing message about the lives of people come before objects and also that family isn't always birth given, adopting kids they're still family. And of course, the characters are very fun and adorable. Compared to most teen-young adult girls in animated movies, I really love Tulip's design. They don't make her too "sexy" but still make her look cute, she dresses plain, and she's a total goofball. I personally love seeing more female characters like that.

(Rio, 2011) You guys know this one's a cult classic! My mom and I loved this one a lot and were sad when Disney shut down BlueSky Studios. The movie is still incredibly underrated, although it has a strong fanbase of 2000s-early2010's kids! The music in the movie is incredible, the visuals and scenery is gorgeous, and it actually makes you want to travel to Rio! I feel like they tried to show the culture in the best way they could, even though I'm not an expert, they did it in sort of a subtle way, but still enough that it makes you admire it!

(Duck Duck Goose, 2018) This is an adorable and underrated movie for the family, even though the villain may be a bit scary at times! I love how it focuses mostly on the animals, I love when movies focus mostly on the animals to the point that you forget the humans are there, but they still do show humans sometimes. The humans don't have like, speaking lines or anything. Also, the characters are adorable! Peng's character really reminds me of Rocky from Chicken Run, but a little more childish and care free. A better comparison to Peng would be Otis from Barnyard, at first he acts like he wants to party all the time, but then learns to become a man by the end of the movie. The ducklings, Chi and Chao, are so adorable! Chi's a very loving and helpful big sister, and she's voiced by Zendaya! Also, Stephen Fry voices one of the crane brothers (or maybe they're gay cranes? I have no idea...). The voice acting and characters are so amazing in this movie, and the scenery is also so gorgeous! The humor is also on point, and you'll love the little squirrel character! I also think this movie is good for maybe 6 and up, depending on how used to movies the kid is. My 6 year old self didn't have that kind of attention span yet but some kids are different. Anyway, I just consider it a good movie for the whole family!

(Ploey you Never Fly Alone, 2018) Okay, this one can be a bit sad but also has a pretty good story. I'm personally not too comfortable with kids having love interests in movies/shows, like kids that are younger than teenage. Because they're birds and have no confirmed age, you can feel however you want about the Ploey and Ploveria relationship. I'm only uncomfortable about it because they both sound young and it wasn't much time after Ploey hatched from an egg when they met, but again, they're birds. It's still a beautiful movie with fun characters and really talented voice acting! I put it at the bottom of the list because it's not one of my first choices, but I haven't seen it in a while. You may have different feelings about it. I think i recommend this movie more for 10 and up, it does have some emotional moments though. It's not really funny or anything either, so I don't recommend it for parties or family movie nights. If you love bird themed movies and have a friend who does, it's something nice that you can watch together when you're not busy.

Prompt: duck soulmate au 🦆

There's a rubber duck sitting neatly on the back of Daniel's drivers room sofa.

Daniel is getting used to the Alpha Tauri motorhome. It feels, like everything at AT, like a shitty proof-of-concept mockup of the real thing over at Red Bull: flimsier walls, smaller rooms, worse catering. But like—it's fine. He's not going to be there for too long, hopefully. Everyone's friendly, at least. Everyone's glad to have him back.

This duck, though. "Yuki," Daniel yells. He doesn't take his eyes off the duck.

Yuki sticks his head round the door. "Yes?"

"Did you put this duck here, mate?"

"Why would I put a fucking duck in your room. Daniel." Yuki doesn't sound impressed. He vanishes.

It's probably—journalists have been asking a lot, recently, about Daniel's lack of soulmate. He's thirty-four and not a hint of a goose. If you're going to get one, you usually get it by thirty, and Daniel had given some unwise quotes, earlier in his career. "I'm pretty sure I'm going to get goosed, right? I'm a very soulable guy," spoken straight into the Netflix cameras, is one in particular that journos like to throw back at him.

He'd thought, when he and Max got back together, that maybe—but. No goose, still.

The rubber duck feels like a mocking reference to the whole no-soulmate thing, and if Daniel's honest, he doesn't love it. He gets his phone out and texts Max. Some prick put a rubber duck in my drivers room.

He can see Max typing on and off for a few minutes before a reply comes through. Why do you assume it was a prick. Then, Maybe a very handsome boyfriend put it there.

Right, ok. Daniel looks at the duck again. Now that he knows it's from Max it looks friendlier. Almost cute. Why did you put a duck in my room, baby?

Max is typing, pausing, typing, pausing. At last he sends I'll tell you later.

Daniel finds a spot for the duck on a shelf, and kind of forgets about it.

Max wins, obviously. He wins the sprint and he wins the proper race on Sunday. Daniel is happy for him and also queasily resentful, love and envy curdling together in his throat. He pushes the envy aside pretty well, he thinks.

He's watching Max give a post-race interview, standing to one side behind him like some loyal political wife whose husband is explaining to the press that he's definitely not going to fuck a staffer again. It's fine. Max says that Red Bull have a very good car. He enjoys driving it. He says it like it's impossible for him to imagine not enjoying driving, and Daniel feels a tug of fondness somewhere in his chest. He can't resent Max, not really.

Then Max says, "Ask me about soulmates."

The journalist—it's someone from F1TV, Daniel thinks, but not someone he recognises—blinks at Max. "About... sorry, you want me to...?"

"Ask me," Max repeats, in his direct, throaty voice. Daniel loves him: that's all. "About soulmates."

"Right, yes," the journo says. "Er, Max, can you tell us your views on soulmates?"

"Well first of all I think they are very stupid," Max says immediately. "Who wants some smelly goose to follow them around? And also I think, they are bad because they can make people feel that their love doesn't matter, if they don't have a soul bond. But the love you build with someone because you both want to—I think, that is more romantic. To me."

The journalist smiles brightly at the camera. "Well, there we go! That's race champion Max Verstappen on soulmates! Now let's—"

But Max isn't finished. "For me, I would not even want a goose," Max says. "I would rather have some little rubber duck, that my lover had given to me. That would mean more, I think."

There are cameras all around them, but when Daniel steps forward and looks a question at Max, Max gives him a tiny nod, so: Daniel kisses him.

The rubber duck, assisted by Max's nephews, is the ringbearer at their wedding.

Ok duck duck goose a Netflix original

Theres this goose he's some fuckin hot shot he likes this one girl goose but her father doesn't like him and says he needs to mature

Goose does not want to mature but something happens and goose breaks his wing so he can't migrate with the other geese

He winds up with 2 baby ducklings who keep calling him mom the goose hates it but the 3 go on an adventure

THE goose tells the ducks that he can get them back to their flock....which is a lie

Duck Duck Goose

Okay, I am by no means a professional movie reviewer, but OH BOY do I have some thoughts after watching Duck Duck Goose on Netflix. :D

5 Things I Didn’t Like:

1. The music was melodramatic as fuck. I don’t need a god damn song telling me how to feel when something happens. The music is so fucking out of place.

2. The fart and puke jokes were absolutely annoying. It wasn’t cute. It wasn’t funny. It made me literally want to stop watching the movie. I know it’s just to appeal to kids, but you’ve insulted the intelligence of the viewers and you’ve insulted pigs as a species. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

3. I know you’re limited in the story when it comes to conveying the passage of time and honestly, I don’t live in rural China to know what the seasons are like, BUT, I’m sure of at least two things. I’m positive autumn lasts longer than a few days and China is a bit bigger than how you made it look.

4. The villain was weak as fuck. Oh, and I don’t mean physically weak, I mean the character was a fucking joke. There was literally no explanation as to why the cat had a split personality, NOR did the split personality add anything to the story whatsoever. The possibility of death is a big theme in this movie, so why is the cat fucking immortal. And holy shit, did that crazy boy have no reason to go out of his way to do ANYTHING that he did. Villains NEED motivation, you fucks.

5. Finally. The squirrel. Just... I’ve never cringed so fucking hard in my life. No.

5 Things I Did Like:

1. Seeing a movie for children taking place in China was unbelievably refreshing. The previews and posters make it seem like it’s just another American movie taking place in America, but it isn’t. This movie is set in China and the humans in the movie, literally speak Chinese. Not only that, but the animators took the time to make every background human look unique instead of a bunch of cookie cutter “typical” Asians. That’s how you do representation.

2. I LOVE Jim Gaffigan. Even before the movie, I enjoyed his stand-up comedy.

3. The animation is fucking breathtaking. Honestly, it’s one of the most visually beautiful movies I’ve ever seen in my whole fucking life. I mean, damn.

4. There’s a few moments in the movie when things are almost a little too dark for a kids movie. I love it. It honestly reminds me of the early Don Bluth movies. I’m not going into details though, because I don’t like to spoil a good story.

5. The red-crowned cranes are a gay couple. I looked this shit up. They both have male voice actors. They’re both male birds. At one point the old dad goose refers to them as “ladies”. And THIS image is shown during the credits.
