also: I’ve said it before, but when c!dream makes his “big happy family” metaphor he means with him as the unquestioned patriarch and the rest of the server under him. like he said, the server is His house, the people in it are sitting at His table, and He’s the one that makes the rules.

it doesn’t matter whether He really believes it or not (though I do think there’s definitely some truth to it). because what matters in that statement is what it realistically Means.

the point is not to make a paradise where everyone thrives and has all of their needs met and there’s never any conflict again and everyone holds hands and sings songs and sleeps under the stars. the point is to make Him happy. to give Him that absolute power that he craves and thrives on.

the point is not that the suffering is a means to end all suffering, the point is that he wants the position of abusive father that can never be questioned, overruled, or talked over. he’s more of a cult leader than bad was, because at least Bad was possessed by an egg. this is all dream.

I really dislike fics where c!Dream is possessed by a demon/dreamon. It's always used as an excuse to write c!Dream completely out of character because they then blame all of his morally dubious actions on this demon. c!Dream is written as a poor, poor victim of this evil demon and he had no blame in anything and he is sooo sorry for what he did. And then other characters like c!Tommy can be his "savior" and exorcise the demon and they all forgive c!Dream for everything.

the dreamon theory and trope were a lot of fun in like early 2021 when it was still fresh but the more lore happened the harder it was to take the theory as anything serious

used to be a fun trope now it's definitely just lazy and very dated

I do believe cool things could be done with it but it's hard to go back after Everything we've learnt

DreamXD is a Dreamon

the first time we see dreamXD is during the dreamon lore era

tubbo says dream was a transmuted dreamon which means he swaps between the two entities when triggered

dreamxd shows up after tubbo and fundy "free dream" from the dreamon and starts punching tubbo and seconds later both tubbo and fundy log off

2. times he shows up after this ritual

the next time we see dreamXD is when techno and phil find the stronghold and the end portal dreamXD logs on and destroys it and rebuilds it wrong

the third time is when he helps george and bad build a mcdonalds (💀) this is surprisingly where u see how twisted dreamXD is, when george and quackity get into an argument dreamXD claims that he is going to help george spawn trap quackity with obsidian and lava but ends up betraying george, upon seeing how upset george got abt it he immediately says that he did it to trick quackity and even tried to kill badboyhalo to comfort george (it works 😭??????)

we see how dreamXD has no issue in swapping sides just for his own entertainment and how death is his main entertainment

the forth time we see dreamXD is when bad is leading george and niki to the egg (also anyone else thinks the egg is a dreamon) and dreamXD logs on, after killing bad (poor bad lmao) he hangs out with george and he starts acting strange and revealing important things

his voice switches into a more demonic voice to an echo-y voice to finally a normal no sound effect voice

the change to the demonic voice seem to happen when he is upset example: when george asks him for stuff because he views it as george using him (tbf he is)

the change to the echo-y voice probably happens when he is upset? possessive? angry? example: george saying he would rather be with bad than with him, dreamXD starts chasing george claiming he is not going to hurt him

and then lastly the normal voice, its dream calling out to george "george its me dream!" but dreamXD brushes it off immediately saying "hm he is gone"

which is interesting cause later he says that he isnt dream but he is a part of him and he also says that he was hunted (tbf this line holds the whole theory together)

they try to prank bad and niki but it didnt go as george planned, even sending niki to hell and bringing her back

maybe its because dreamXD does not understand the concept of jokes so he shares his entertainment and what makes him laugh with george not realizing its not normal

3. the books arefor dreamXD´s entertainment

dreamXD is the creator of both the revival book and the death book

we know that if u revive someone thats not dead or if u kill someone that doesnt exist it summons dreamXD

the first time we see this happen is in the prison, when dream and techno try to revive someone thats not dead, he shows up and its the first time dream sees dreamXD

techno asks "how come god looks exactly like you?" (really nice quote)

dreamXD gives techno a bell and leaves.

the second time we see this is when sapnap kills someone who doesnt exist and he is summoned, dreamXD says its interesting and that he didnt expect sapnap to get the book

"listen up this is a ME thing not a YOU thing okay? IM in charge"

"you cant kill the owner of the revival book, you just cant!" "what is this like some game to you?" "actually it is a game! i watched death note i thought it was good and i thought yeah it will be fun!"

dreamXD wants dream alive, even as a ghost, maybe cause if one of them dies they both die ?

dreamXD would prefer if dream and sapnap were partners, he wants infinite deaths "you kill he revives you kill he revives YOU KILL HE REVIVES OOOOHHH ITS SO PERFECT!"

dreamXD is also connected to dreams (haha) he sees peoples dreams and gives people nightmares maybe fundys lore is also tied in here who knows

maybe thats why they are halled dreamons

dreamXD also rules the end so like maybe there is a connection there???

i like the idea of reverse dreamon possession. like dream was originally possessed by a dreamon, and then when it was exorcised or whatever the actual dream is left over. leading to the dreamon hunters kind of screwing up the server fjdkd

The god hierarchy of the Dream SMP

So yeah I got thinking again.

The canon gods of the SMP are XD, god of quote unquote “Everything”, and Kristin the goddess of death. But, there’s also foolish, and other deities like the egg, so what is going on here? Well, here’s my little theory.

So just like in many other mythologies, there’s a large pantheon of gods in the DSMP universe. Some minor ones include The Blood god, Drista goddess of chaos, and Philza, The Angel of death. These are all sub-species of the great quartet, or the big four if you will, and don’t really have any greater power over the world as a whole.

The big four consists of XD, god of creation, The Lady, goddess of death, Foolish, god of life, and [Redacted], god of destruction.

As you see, these four all exist in harmony, creating a circle. XD creates, Foolish gives life, [Redacted] destroys and The Lady takes care of their souls after their demise. They’re all one happy family.

Until Foolish leaves the great pantheon to become mortal, throwing everything into turmoil. It is unclear why Foolish gave up on his godhood, some ancient historians theories that he wanted peace, some say he wanted war, and some say he just wanted to build.

With a piece of their family missing, the system is in chaos. XD is forced to take on Foolish’ old duties of giving creatures and beings life, something that greatly upsets [Redacted]. Why should XD be gives more power than them and The Lady? The Lady has no qualms about this fact, she’s too busy breaking every rule possible to keep Foolish from entering her realm, just to give him eternal peace. Plus, this was when The Angel of Death was created and she’s a bit busy with that if ya know what I mean.

So [Redacted] is left to their own devices, to scheme and think to their hearts fullest content. They know that they’re not as powerful as the other two, with XD taking up two of the roles and The Lady having her own realm and billions of souls under her belt. But [Redacted] isn’t stupid, they’re the fucking god of destruction, and they know that they can take control if needed to.

So, they gain a new sort of power. The power to manipulate, and the power to control. Everyone who looks upon them immediately falls to their knees in awe, a willingness to devote and die for their god fining a place in their heart. The only people immune to their thrall is the creatures of there other gods, like XD’s Dreamons, The Lady’s undead, and Foolish’ villagers. Also yea I headcanon that they’re people of his creation, because come on. Dudes with big noses being obsessed with emeralds and peace?

And so [Redacted] spreads their destruction across the server, slowly taking soul after soul, block after block, until nothing remains but a barren blood red wasteland filled with brainwashed cultists. The Lady and XD are forced to act, but they can’t find themselves to kill [Redacted]. They’re like a sibling, a part of their holy quartet, and after loosing Foolish it would be too much to loose another.

So they encase [Redacted] in a vessel to conceal their destruction. A cocoon of sorts, or an egg if you will. [Redacted] is hidden deep underground, and they’re forever forgotten in history.

The Lady and XD can’t remove the destruction that The Egg caused, so they create a new realm to keep it all from spreading more. The mortals call it The Nether. All of the brainwashed people are sent there as well, as they can’t find a way to cure them. Overtime they evolve to adjust to the environment more, becoming creatures like Piglins, and Blazes, and Ghasts and Wither Skeletons. Some more powerful individuals evolve into Demons, terrifying creatures that are almost impossible to kill.

And life goes on. More people join the SMP. War is started, some are won and some are lost. The Lady’s Angel creates a family that all die off one by one. Some creature start to leave The Nether, such as a certain young and positive demon.

Foolish finds a place to live, permanently. XD checks in on him as often as he can, talking to him and entertaining him. Foolish has started to remember who he was, fragments and pieces only, and he demands of XD to be given his powers and godhood back. XD refuses, per Foolish own wishes from a long time ago, but after a while it becomes too hard to resist. He’s always been soft when it comes to Foolish sparkling green eyes and toothy shark grin.

And then a Demon finds The Egg. A descendant of one it their most loyal followers, taking up the role his ancestor played perfectly. Some other creatures, like a cat or a human get perused just as easily thanks to the Destruction blood flowing through their veins, while some take their time like a flower nymph, a creature of life.

And Foolish is killed. No one understands why, he’s supposed to be a god right? Why can some cat influenced by an egg take one of his lives?

Because the Egg is a god. Not just a god, it’s one of The Gods. The Big four are unkillable, to everyone but each other.

But because of his decision on mortality, Foolish is given a second chance. In fact, he’s gives a third chance as well, something to save for the future. Every god and deity are gives only one life, but Foolish is no longer a god, now is he?

Anyways, to summarize some things that didn’t fit here, in the beginning there were four sets of people, people of life, death, creation, and destruction. Over time the people have bred amongst each other, so most people of the SMP are mixes and hybrids, but there are some Purebloods. Dream is pure creation for example, as is George which is why XD is drawn to him. Every Nether person, such as Techno, Tina, Sapnap and Bad are pure destruction. Hannah and Purpled are pure life, giving them incredible survival skills, and Eret and Wilbur are both pure death. Sally was also pure life, giving Fundy and even 50/50 between life and death. Ranboo is similar, but with 50/50 of Creation and Destruction. Every revived person also become pure death, so while Tommy used to be mostly creation and Jack mostly destruction, they’re now 100% creatures of death.

Drista is a deity of XD, Philza a deity of The Lady, The Blood God a deity of [Redacted] and Prime a deity of Foolish.

Also I have no answer for The End, so after The Nether was created I guess XD just wanted his own realm to fuck around with. The Lady’s realm is Limbo, if that wasn’t obvious.

Heart sleep headcanons because Heart's a massive comfort to me and I wanna come up with sleepycore stuff for him.

•When he sleeps, the little moon on his halo sparkles softly, and the light coming from the orb on each of his rings (plus halo) starts to dim.

•He sleeps with his childhood stuffie, Dragon, which is, you guessed it, a dragon. Dragon has mint green fur and dark green/cream accents, and soft but worn fur due to years of use; he was given to Heart by Cameron (Whole in our AU, just letting y'all know this AU is like CRAZY canon-divergent) when he was just a little idfant as the doll was passed down from Cam to Heart after he was emancipated and had his own home.

•His wings will softly flutter in his sleep, in the same way a dog will whimper and its legs will jerk.

•He shares his dreams with Mind! They both are talented lucid dreamers and remember their dreams very well, all these abilities coming from their species being distant relatives to dreamons (what dream creatures are called in my universe!).

•I like to think that while sometimes he snores, he tends to make a hooting sound when he sleeps, almost like a mix between an owl and a cat trill!

•He loves to sleep with lots and lots of blankets and pillows, and loves to sleep with his head covered by the blanket. He physically cannot sleep without weighted blankets, similarly to how he cannot be comfortable and at ease without wearing a hoodie, so he sleeps as if he's being held all of the time.

•Mind in our (nkgrimmie and my's) AU always wakes up at 5AM sharp to take a shower, and Heart often wakes up to the sound of him leaving his room to go rinse himself off. Heart finds the sound of him showering relaxing, and likes to hear Mind kinda do his thing before dozing back off to sleep.

•Speaking of Mind, Heart and Mind love to cuddle (in a familial way ofc). Mind holds Heart in his arms and Heart clings to him and uses the former's muscle as a comfy place to rest his head. Sometimes, when something bad happens (*looks at Soul*) or just when the day's been long, Heart enters Mind's room, and Mind sighs, and they have a nice little cuddle at night. It brings me joy knowing these two are so close in my AU. :)

•Heart is a bit of an oversleeper and sometimes Cameron/Soul goes to wake him up but he really isn't feeling it, so he just smiles a bit and leaves him to rest, most likely repositioning Dragon in his arms.

•Heart also gets extremely tired as a trauma response, but trying to keep things wholesome so I'll cover that another time. :)

•Due to sensory issues (ADHD), Heart sleeps with his blindfold off and leaves it by his cotside. It gives his eyes a nice break and ensures a good night's rest, given how much Heart values his sleep as the best part of his day.

•Heart has a semi-large collection of pyjamas in his closet that are washed at least kind of regularly (most likely thanks to Mind). They often have star/space themes to them, as does Heart's blanket, pillow, and cotsheets, and he loves to relax in his pyjamas while watching YouTube, namely Game Theory/Film Theory, Markiplier, CrankGameplays, and Alan Becker, as well as just generally nostalgic YouTubers for him. :)

•Before cot, Heart likes to sit on the porch and stargaze. It tends to tire him out, and they live in a semi-rural part of town decently away from light pollution so they (HMS/W) can actually see a pretty good amount of space from there. Sometimes Mind joins him on the porch and watches alongside them, and Heart gets to geek out a bit about stars while slowly falling asleep; and then can be carried inside and tucked in. :)

There's ABSOLUTELY more, I'll most likely make a pt ii when I can. :)

I just realized I never posted all of my c!Dream variants in one place??? I made these back in October then posted each one separately, but they’re all part of a collection.

Row 1: c!Dream (early canon, main, post-prison)

Row 2: Mamacita, Drista, NotDream123

Row 3: Francis, DreamXD, Cornelius

Row 4: Mexican Dream, Ranbob, Hubert

Headcanons under the cut:

I like the theory that Cornelius and Francis are both DreamXD. Cornelius is DreamXD before ascending to godhood, and Francis is just DreamXD fucking around in c!Dream’s skin (and c!Connor know this)

Before the SMP, c!Dream sold his skin to DreamXD in exchange for… something. He doesn’t remember doing this though. That’s why DreamXD looks like c!Dream. That’s also why c!Dream has void underneath his hair.

Mamacita, DreamXD, and c!Dream are the only True Dreamons left since all the others were either hunted down (Overworld) or simply went extinct (The End).

c!Ranboo is a dreamon-endermen hybrid originating from The End. He’s not a Dream variant though, so I didn’t include him. Although… even though dreamon halos are supposed to be completely unique, Ranbob has the exact same halo as Ranboo.

NotDream123 (aka Tom Simmons) and Hubert the Butler are just regular dreamon hybrids (in the same way most players are some sort of mob hybrid) with no connection to c!Dream or DreamXD. They’re just two guys.

MD is not a dreamon. He just adopted Mamacita’s culture.

Technically! c!Drista is not a dreamon. In my own headcanon, she’s actually the entity personification of the entire Dream SMP that took on the appearance of the SMP’s owner, c!Dream, and the local deity, XD.

Saw someone on my dash mention the Dreamon Theory n I wanted to put in my two cents

The reason I dislike the theory, other than the obvious "it erases any accountability for the Child Abuse and would be narratively unsatisfying" is uh

How would it work. c!Dream's personality has been consistent since the beginning, there was No sudden switch to becoming a villain, no Sudden Personality Change, there's nowhere in the timeline where you can easily fit the Dreamon Theory in .

He's always been an antagonist but his road to becoming the villain he is was a slow one rather than a quick "he's evil now!" where you could credit that to possibly being possessed overnight

The only possibility is that the Dreamon possessed Dream Before any of this started, right at the beginning, before the Disc War, before Lmanburg, etc. Which would Also be very Unsatisfying bc that would mean we literally Do Not Know the "Real" c!Dream at ALL and then it's like. What would be the Point of that other than a cheap twist for shock value?

I also had a headcanon that c!dream and c!rnboo were related 😭 I used to be so sure that lore would eventually prove they had a positive relationship and then.. well...

like my theory was that whatever ranboo's non-enderman half was, that would be dream's species that he hid with his mask (and i was also deep in dreamon HCs) i also floated around the idea that however they were related, one of them was the 'bastard child' of their family!

cup I have to come clean. I actually like c!dream was a dreamon all along. not in the like "ohhh its a monster with evil intentions possessing him" way but in the "yeah that's just what he is" way. I also think it makes the dreamon hunters a lot more funny.
