I hate to get into fnaf discourse (mainly b/c the way to story is being handled makes me unreasonably angry but thats another post)
BUT
I do find it incredibly funny that i keep seeing people saying that Ruin proves that Monty is innocent/didn't attack Bonnie b/c the pizzaplex made a ride that tells the totally true story of how Monty joined the band; because if it's really true that Monty destroyed Bonnie, they would make that the ride instead of a cute story for the children about these fictional characters
Evidence pointing to Monty destroying Bonnie:
Bonnie was last seen entering Monty Golf
Monty is shown to be agressive
The massive claw marks in Bonnie's recently discovered corpse
Evidence that Monty is innocent:
A ride

Writing Patterns (Tag Game)
Rules: list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there’s a pattern!
Thanks for the tag, @tennessoui! This is going to bring me embarrassingly far back in time (I have not been posting at the same rate I once did!) but:
“I suppose it’s too much to hope you’ve learned anything from this experience.” (knows best)
Anakin likes to think he has many virtues. (civic duty)
Obi-Wan wakes up suddenly and incompletely, his dreams clinging to him like grasping tentacles ready to pull him back under. (Only Poetry or Madness)
There’s something wrong with Obi-Wan. (from a certain point of view)
“A good feeling about this season, I have.” (The Bottom of the Ninth - technically this fic starts with a quote, but Mickey Mantle wrote that so I'll stick with my dialogue)
When Anakin wakes up it’s to the taste of mud, the ache of recent exertion and the realization that he is not alone. (Guiding Light)
On balance, Anakin must admit that the breakout of the clone wars has been a bad thing. (I'd Do Anything for Love)
It’s a dark and oppressive Thursday afternoon when it all begins. (I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good))
“I must congratulate you, Anakin.” (praise you)
It’s with visions of sugar plums and mistletoe dancing through his mind that Obi-Wan finds himself in Cody’s visitor chair one sunny Tuesday morning. (Here Comes Santa Claus)
So I've led with dialogue at least three times, which is weird 🤔 I don't remember making the conscious decision to do so, I guess I just felt like skipping the preamble? I've also started with a character waking up twice which I know is illegal but sometimes (like in the amnesia fic) it makes sense!
Tagging @renlyslittlerose, @amadwinter, @palfriendpatine66, @artemisthehuntress, @intermundia (sorry if you've already been tagged!)

Odds & Ends: September 8, 2023
“In Praise of Heroic Masculinity” by Caitlin Flanagan. The phrase “toxic masculinity” has been thrown around a lot in our culture the past several years, particularly when high-profile men use their power and strength to take advantage of women. But Atlantic writer Caitlin Flanagan argues that “If the noun masculinity can be modified by the adjective toxic, then there must exist its opposite, which can be revealed by a different adjective.” Her choice for that adjective is “heroic,” and she argues that all the talk about the wrongs men commit overlooks the fact that they often use their physical strength and courage to protect and serve the vulnerable. Heroic masculinity manifested itself big time on 9/11 as male firefighters rushed into the World Trade Center, and, Flanagan says, it shows up every day when a young man stands up for someone getting picked on at school. She argues that if we want boys to become good men, we need to talk more about their potential for heroic masculinity and show them examples of what it looks like. “Dream of Mickey Mantle” by Bleachers. We’re big fans of the Bleachers in the McKay household. They were one of the best shows I’ve seen at Tulsa’s famed Cain’s Ballroom. All of their songs are great, but one I particularly enjoy is “Dream of Mickey Mantle.” The music and lyrics convey a sense of nostalgia and longing for childhood. I always get chills down my spine when the song hits its crescendo. Frontman Jack Antonoff is definitely one of my generation’s greatest song-smiths.  Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 5000. As a middle-aged man, I’ve got to pay more attention to hairs growing out of my nose and ears. I’ve written about how to manage this hair before. My old nose and ear hair trimmer bit the dust a few months ago, so I picked up Philips Norelco’s latest. It’s just $20, and it gets the job done quickly and painlessly. You can also trim your eyebrows with it, which comes in handy if you have Sam Eagle eyebrows like me.  Paddington. Our family finally got around to watching Paddington this summer. Can’t believe we waited so long to watch it! It’s such a delightful and charming movie, with lots of truly laugh-out-loud moments. Paul King did a great job of injecting whimsy in the movie without going overboard with it. It’s a great movie for the entire family, and you’ll wish you had a Paddington Bear friend in your home to eat marmalade with when you’re done. Quote of the Week Trust him little who praises all; him less who censures all; and him least who is indifferent to all. —Johann Kaspar Lavater The post Odds & Ends: September 8, 2023 appeared first on The Art of Manliness. http://dlvr.it/SvqXn2

Music Ask #12!
12. Name a song that you learned something from
i learned who mickey mantle was from dream of mickey mantle by bleachers lmao it was actually only earlier this year when i played it for my boyfriend and he was like "why is this song about a baseball player" and i realised i'd somehow never thought to question who he was in all the times i'd listened to it (and now i've read through the mickey mantle wikipedia page and marginally expanded my limited baseball knowledge!)

Baseball was his life. He lived baseball, he breathed baseball, and he even named his chihuahua Mickey Mantle. But the odds of breaking into the major leagues were against him. He couldn’t run, he couldn’t catch, and he couldn’t hit. Still, he never gave up on his dreams. That’s why he took the job selling peanuts at the stadium. The way he looked it, the vendor gig was like working in the corporate mailroom with ambition to one day become the CEO. I painted this on Procreate with the gouache brush.
