Hi I read your Ramirez post, what is it about him that draws your attention? I feel really weird when I say he's my "favourite" serial killer. I don't defend him on his actions, he did all that and needed to be stopped. But sometimes when the government fucks up, his quote about the gov is doing what he did on a large scale just pops in my head. I always wanted to know why he married Doreen. Did he want material/ monetary support from whoever? Or did Doreen show him generosity when no one did?

Let me start off by saying, no one should be your "favorite" serial killer. We are talking about actual human beings. People with same experiences as you me. Difference? They are SERIAL KILLERS. They have murdered, r*ped, dehumanized people and have brought horror to people's life. This are not people you need to have a "favorite" because they are families out there that are in pain because of this people's horrific actions.

Now going to your questions.

What "draws" me is just pure curiosity and understanding his actions. It's really simple. And of course I do agree with his "quote", but it's something people back in the 80's where very close minded to, and our generation or this generation has a better understanding how U.S government (or any for that matter) really works. He was a mentally ill, latino with an abusive upbringing in the 80's, he knew already how the government and society view him at a very young age.

He had many girls fawning over him so why choose Doreen? Could it be money? Could be him wanting someone to control over, maybe she was easily manipulated? Loneliness? We'll never know, he was a very unpredictable individual. I wish I could give you a straight answer, I wish I knew it myself.

Doreen Lioy: Wife of Richard Ramirez

Doreen is Richard Ramirez’s wife. He is the infamous American serial killer also known as the ‘Walk-in Killer’ or the ‘Night Stalker’. They communicated in 1985 through letters when he was in prison. In 1988, they got engaged and married on 3rd October, 1996. Their marriage took place at ‘San Quentin’ State Prison, in California. She was employed as a freelance journalist. She strongly believed that he was a victim of the charges that were leveled against him. However, after DNA test proved his raping a 9 year kid and murdering her, she severed all ties with him. Since then, she prefers to stay away from the media and her current whereabouts is not exactly known.

Her life before fame

From the beginning, her life has been a mystery to the public as she did not achieve any fame  from her career. It was only after she entered into a relationship with Richard that she became famous. She got known to the public as the infamous rapist and killer’s girlfriend and later wife. Otherwise, Doreen Lioy is a common person with no such celebrity status. 

Her early life

She was born in California’s Burbank region. Besides this, other details, like her parents, siblings, and other aspects of life is not known. Since she worked as a freelance journalist, it can be assumed that she is fairly educated. 

Her career

She worked freelance on several TV documentaries as magazine editor and tried to make a mark in the industry. ‘THS Investigates - Love Behind Bars’ is her noteworthy work that earned her reputation among the public.She even authored a book that she titled as ‘Richard Ramirez - The Night Stalker’. It throws light on Ramirez’s life and tribulations. 

Her affair with Richard

Exact date is not known about her meeting first her future husband or their falling in love. Sources state that she knew about Ramirez only after viewing his arrest on TV. She made several intensive follow-ups to reach him and know his background. These meetups probably has made them to fall in love with each other. 

About Ramirez

He was born in El Paso, Texas on 29th February, 1960. He has four siblings and the last child of Mercedes and Julian Ramirez. As a young boy, he was boisterous and started smoking when he was only 10 years of age. Mike, his cousin was a Green Beret Combat Personnel in the U.S army. The latter taught him special military skills that he used for to carry out his vices. Good Trouble is such an underrated gem!! Tbh I only started watching the show because of Maia Mitchell but it really is such a good show!! Which epsiode are you on? I'm stuck on ep. 9 I think bc I don't know where I can watch the rest of the episodes haha Where do you watch Good Trouble?
