Time Travel Question 28: Murder and
Disappearance Edition II
Given that Judge Crater, Roanoke, and the Dyatlov Pass Incident are credibly solved, though not 100% provable, I'm leaving them out in favor of things ,ore mysterious. I almost left out Amelia Earhart, but the evidence there is sketchier.

The darkest response to this question ever.
It’s a sad story. I only learned about her and her family from the story Stephen King based on it, A Good Marriage.
His family legitimately thought he was just a nice, suburban dad. The wife knew he had kinks…but kind of dismissed them because they seemed harmless and not a huge deal.

What is it with all these TikTok/Twitter feminists idolizing and defending Aileen Wuornos?
“I love her she’s the best!”
“She did what she had to do!”
“She was defending herself,”
I bet money that in the same breathe, they will condemn and call out anyone who idolizes people like Jeffery Dahmer and Ted Bundy and mock them openly and rightfully.
But Aileen gets a free pass?
Just because she had a horrible childhood?
I don’t agree with her getting the Death penalty.
But other than her first victim, as far as we know, her victims were innocent.
Was she handed a bad hand? Yes. Did she deserve to heal? Yes.
But is she a hero? No.
She was a troubled woman with a bad past and made terrible decisions just like the rest of these damn serial killers.
“You shouldn’t idolize serial killers! People who crush on them are disgusting and they are usually white!”
“AILEEN WUORNOS IS A QUEEN! GIRLBOSS BABE QUEEN! MOTHER! SHE DID NOTHING WRONG! SHE WAS DEFENDING HERSELF IN A MAN’S WORLD!”
The hypocrisy is astounding!
Sorry had to get that off my chest.
I mean, yeah, there's always a double-standard when it comes to female... anything, really, but ESPECIALLY serial killers. They always try to come up with some reason she was justified or some way she's "not as bad" as her male counterparts.
No one wants to admit a female serial killer is still a serial killer and thus just as much a monster as male serial killers.

I always found it kind of funny when russian and ukrainian killers are put in their own little cages in court. I know there’s practical reasons for it but I can’t help but think it’s also to gawk at them like some morbid display. cage of shame

I'm convinced men point to Aileen Wuornos as “THE female serial killer” (instead of Juana Barraza, for example) is because she is the embodiment of women they hate.
Many people would use the excuse that they point to Wuornos because she is American. There are more than a handful of examples of female serial killers in America who have killed more people than Aileen Wuornos ever did (Christine Falling, Genene Jones, Nannie Doss, Belle Gunness, etc), so she is not special in that regard.
People would argue that her method was just so unspeakable. Most female serial killers murder by poison or similar less violent methods than their male counterparts. Her method of killings was by shooting her victims, which is not very atypical of female murderers.
Aileen Wuornos is singled out as “THE female serial killer” because she was a lesbian, she was a prostitute, and she killed when she knew she would be r*ped.
It is undisputed that Aileen was most likely raped by the first man she killed, Richard Mallory, because he has a history of s*xual assault and rape. People scoff at the idea of a prostitute being raped, but every time you make a person decide on food for dinner or not having sex with you, that is rape.
These men view her as “THE female serial killer” because she is the embodiment of women that are subhuman to them, yet they still believe they deserving of sex from.
Aileen Wuornos was mentally ill; she had a psychopathic personality and likely had ASPD and/or BPD as well. She was severely s*xually abused as a child. There are definitely red flags of someone who would become a disturbed individual, I'm not arguing against that. I'm just asking, “Why do they focus on Aileen Wuornos?”
Reason 1383929 I hate “true crime communities”

After a lot of re-writes, I finally have published my second ever video essay and the first of two for October. The video is a discussion of my disdain for True Crime as a genre and the ethics around how its presented & the different issues (such as glorification & stigmatisation) that comes with producing the content irresponsibly.
I hope you will give it a watch if you're interested!

I don't care about myself, I don't care what happens to me, I never did really. I do believe in the evil in human nature, this is a wicked wicked world, and in a wicked world wicked people are born. I'm not gonna blame society, my race or people or anything. It is up to the individual like myself to keep on knocking on whatever door they want to get into. As far as Satan is concerned, I believe in a malevolent being, his description alludes me, but I have felt forces that are evil.
Serial killer Richard Ramirez in a tv interview for inside edition in 1993, he was on death row at the time.
