I’ve always loved medicine bc it’s the perfect intersection of science and humanity—the two things I value above all else in this world. Truly adored it since I was in the cradle. But now I’m thinking about how so much of my journey to neurosurgery will have to involve KILLING my feelings essentially bc how do you survive otherwise

#Not to mention the surprisingly high suicide rate of surgeons that’s been brought to my attention lately #Honestly I just started my neuro internship and just saw my first patient in clinic #And on the day I did I was critical of my neurologist for being so robotic about it #Now I can see why #I’m still at a point where I can’t even do a chart review for a patient without feeling so fucking sad #And I can see how that can get unsustainable after a while #But it’s like if I kill the feelings that drive my passion for medicine to begin with then what’s the point #It’s not like I’m in it for the money or prestige bc that’s so dumb considering how long the schooling is #But literally how to deal #My supervisors at the clinic very much all speak about the dementia patients w a learned impartialness #But I don’t wanna be that way one day :( but how to be anything else and still survive #I’m pre med so I still have time and maybe my opinion will change and I’ll wanna do another specialty #But when it comes to this every specialty will involve human lives and navigating that regardless #That said I can see why surgeons are at higher risk or depression suicide etc #The whole point of this internship is to teach myself how to navigate this stuff but. Dwarves…I’m actually struggling a lil more for them. I have like a clear image for hobbits and elves in my head, but not really for the dwarves. I know I do want them to be a lot more like…rocky, than they already are. Like, a tiny bit golem like. Make ‘em have rocks growing out of their body, or diamonds, or both! Or maybe you could play into the dragon aspect, since dwarves are prone to dragon sickness.

Hello, thank you for the feedback and the nice words :) . I raised the prices like 4 days ago or so, I don’t know if I’d risk raising them more, where I live 40-50 dollars is a lot of money and it comes in handy for my economical situation and the current crisis. I don’t wanna risk losing work over charging higher. I have a hard time deciding what my art is worth, 80 feels like so much, it feels almost wrong

Dude why are you so pressed about my ask? My point is that you’re manipulating your photos even if just angles and lighting and yes you see results from push ups everyday but those results don’t outweigh the long-term damage it does to your body. You don’t see it now because you’re still in your 20’s. But the advice you give is dangerous and is going to hurt people. Those people on youtube get the same criticism because they’re giving terrible advice with inflated results.

my main frustration with your original message was the false accusation that my photos were edited, as if i have the time to literally import my iphone camera selfies into photoshop and alter my physical appearance to look more muscular than i really am.

anyway, doing pushups is a great exercise that requires no equipment or gym. to anyone reading this, if you want to start your fitness journey and develop a chest, i think it’s a great start. i don’t know why this anonymous person in particular is so pressed and vehemently against simple & effective home workouts (some people can’t afford gym memberships so i think this is a great solution) but i hope they find peace. LOL
