Intro Post

This semester I would like to write about Disneyland how they have introduced new shows, remodeled the Paradise Pier, along with raising their ticket prices. My interest is whether the new attractions and special themed treats make it worth the money to invest in an annual pass or simply keep it a once in a while special outing.

With Star Wars Land projected to open in summer 2019, there will be a huge increase in park visitors. I am curious to see whether Disneyland will focus more on the Star Wars audience or stay well rounded for visitors and pass holders who are not there for the new attraction.

I have followed accounts on Instagram such as @Disneyhungry which is an account run by a mom and explores the various food items Disneyland has to offer, both actual meals and desserts. @Disneytourguide is similar in that they share delicious treats, but also give updates on weather and when certain celebrations begin/end at the park. @disneyambassador is an account that follows cast members in special opportunities they get participate in such as representing the park in parades or attending charity events or “voluntEaring” in numerous building projects.

On Twitter, I have found similar yet different accounts such as @DisneyFoodBlog run by a guy named AJ who post similar food finds around the park but from a different perspective and he includes new merchandise that is sold at the park. @DisTouristBlog is more focused on the Magic Kingdom in Florida but still has posts about the upcoming events and celebrations in Anaheim.

In addition to these accounts, I am planning to purchase an annual pass and hopefully visit as frequently and I can. I have been fortunate enough to live in southern California my entire life and have had a pass before, but only used it to go on rides and buy churros. Being older now, I have a better appreciation for the parks when I am able to visit. Also, there are different areas of the parks I can enjoy and have more time to explore the great treasures Disneyland has to offer.
