Im only going to say this once: don't fucking put john mulaney discourse in my ask box anymore just because im openly trans and you're clearly expecting me to jump on the hate train
The fact is, not all the information about what happened in ohio is out yet. Did mulaney actually invite DC or were they contractually obligated to perform together? What were you expecting mulaney to do when they switched sets? Cuss him out? Another public figure, in a public event, on the stage? We all saw very recently how much of a shitstorm the will smith slap was.
Plus, do you actually know how much mulaney knew? Hes had a shitstorm of a year so far, the stand up comedy drama probably wasnt his top priority here. The facts i know is that i dont know what happened yet, and im not gonna make snap judgments or play "one strike youre out" about a guy who i havent seen any evidence of homophobia or transphobia from yet. Holding back judgment until you have all the relevant information should not be a controversial stance to take here. Jesus

something. about. the horror of being sent on an impossible (death) quest and obligations and hospitality politics. the trauma of not having a home, and then the trauma of being in a house that becomes actively hostile to you, one that would swallow you whole and spit out your bones if you step out of line. all of this is conditional, your existence continues to be something men want gone.
it's about going back as far as I can with the perseus narrative because there's always a version of a myth that exists behind the one that survives. the missing pieces are clearly defined, but the oldest recorded version of it isn't there! and there's probably something older before that!! but it's doomed to forever be an unfilled space, clearly defined by an outline of something that was there and continues to be there in it's absence.
and love. it's also about love. even when you had nothing, you had love.
on the opposite side of the spectrum, this is Not About Ovid Or Roman-Renaissance Reception, Depictions And Discourses On The Perseus Narrative.
edit: to add to the above, while it's not about Ovid, because I'm specifically trying to peel things back to the oldest version of this story, Ovid is fine. alterations on the Perseus myth that give more attention Medusa predate Ovid by several centuries. this comic is also not about those, either! there are many versions of this story from the ancient world. there is not one singular True or Better version, they're all saying something.

Something that has been driving me insane about the credits are these sections with the fish so please bear with me whilst I do a mini deep dive (hehe) into fish discourse because YO, we need to talk about these fish!
Notice how at the beginning of the credits we actually have two white fish swimming along beside one another; one with bright turquoise eyes and the other with black.
Tumblr media
A little while later the fish begin to circle each other and a droplet falls into the water between them. As the disturbance ripples out from the center, one of the fish dives deeper into the water and changes its colour to black; symbolizing Geto's change and descent into darkness
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we have this heartbreakingly beautiful moment with Gojo and Geto:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cannot stop thinking about how long Gojo watches the black fish for as it swims across the screen, whereas Geto's eyes are lowered the moment the white fish appears and he closes them as it swims past.
Gojo cannot bear to tear his eyes away, whilst Geto cannot bear to look
Tumblr media
Throughout the credits, Gojo and Geto have been making their way towards each other through the pouring rain (or mostly sitting and waiting in Geto's case). At the end, they meet each other under a bridge and as they walk away together we see the fish a final time, swimming together again in a puddle formed by the heavy rain.
Geto walks on the left in the light, as the white fish swims close to his head, almost invisible in the brightness of the light. Whilst Gojo walks on the right in the shadow with the black fish swimming further away but still close by.
The fish speed after the two men before disappearing completely under the water just before the camera pans up and we watch as Gojo pulls Geto in for a hug as they walk away, before he's playfully shoved away by Geto.
There's a lot going on the credits (+ opening) that is absolutely killing me but man, these fish?! Breathtaking.

Another art related comment: I am once again begging the CR fandom to be normal about aging.
People get crows feet in their late 20s/early 30s, people can start to go gray in their 30s (and earlier!), none of this is “premature” and it will happen to you one day, embrace it.

ultimately the team black argument is so boring to me especially in the show because it is just straightforward and correct. like obviously usurping someone for being a woman is bad. but if we weigh the girlboss against watching the six most miserable people i have ever seen in my entire life plus also one anime villain dig themselves into a hole so twisted and deep that they can’t see the sun from the bottom until the house collapses foundationless into the dirt it’s just NO contest. rhaenyra being correct is like a tertiary concern that’s not why i’m here.

the reason why red team wins isn’t because they submit tasks last minute. that isn’t even the biggest part of their strategy, so let me tell you what red is doing to win:
delegating tasks: each member has spent most of their time collecting whatever resource the team needs. they work together to come up with specific goals (eg. enchantment table, mining iron, getting string) and then send specific people out to do that task, usually whoever’s free at the moment
helping each other: they would all drop everything at a moment’s notice to help a teammate in trouble
sharing resources: red team shares literally everything they own. most notably, bings and personal quest items
personal tasks: they all help each other out to finish these, and they make sure everyone active gets them done. i think a good chunk of their points come from this category actually, since the other teams don’t seem to prioritize it as much
not seeking fights: ok sure, they’ve gotten in a decent amount of fights, but usually the fight comes to them. they aren’t spending their time searching for people to kill, rather most of their kills have been from running into others in the wild or at spawn (foolish did spend time looking for tina today, but that was mostly looking for blue base as a strategic point)
using time wisely: to kind of add onto the point above, they aren’t spending all their time walking thousands of blocks to others’ bases. they also are very communicative about how much time they have left and what to use it for. they’ll ask how they can help the team with their last ten minutes, for instance
communicating: red team spends almost their entire time on the server in a vc together. I know this isn’t exactly every creator’s thing, but they could still type in chat if they didn’t want to talk. red team have even been leaving discord messages to their teammates to tell them info when they’re not online!
varying their points: i think this is the most important thing tbh. instead of only focusing on tasks or kills, etc. they do a little bit of every. they make sure to do well in every possible point category
being silly: it’s the best part!! the silliness boosts team morale
seriously though, the red team doesn’t just sweep the win at the last minute. if that was true then they wouldn’t log in until the last ten minutes. all the active members spend their 5 hours (or however long they’re playing that day) working on gathering materials and being useful for the team. the only advantage they have from being online later is they know how many points they need to get to catch up. so they can sort of measure how many kills or resources they’d need, etc. but knowing what they need doesn’t guarantee they’ll get it. the red team puts a lot of hard work into their wins it’s not just a cheap sweep. they are clever, resourceful, and strategic

damn, the localization discourse is never gonna end, huh
feels like the simplest but most tedious solution to "experience the work untainted by the 'evil localizers'" is to just learn the language in question and interpret the text yourself, tbh

I really cant help but think that the same people who think kink at pride is "problematic" are the same people who think its my fault if a child sees my properly tagged nsfw art posted on a blog that i make very clear is not for children. At that point its not on me, its on them and its not my fault or my problem if they were never taught that not all places online or in real life are for them and they need to be able to tell the difference
Firstly, you can just not bring your kids. Like thats an option. "Public" does not equal "must be sanitized for the lowest possible maturity level." That's like telling me that having a drink on the beach is actively and purposely contrubuting to a hypothetical childs future problem with alcohol because a child MIGHT see me, an adult, engaging in an age-appropriate activity for myself.
Secondly, when was pride ever about other people's comfort? When was pride ever not about sexuality? Also, why is it always leather daddies and pups that get thrown under this discourse bus every year as if overt sexuality isn't already everywhere where children can and will see it? Have you looked at a calvin klein billboard lately? Mayhaps an advertisement for a clothing chain in the subway? Hmm, wonder what the difference there is.
To tie this up, yall also know that treating sexuality as if its this big forbidden taboo thing in the first place is going to have consequences on those kids futures right? Like they arent stupid, they notice when you pull a "think of the children!" moral panic about anything, including sexuality. In my case i remember thinking it was stupid as hell that adults acted like i would shatter like glass if i found out what a penis was, but i was lucky enough to have a family that would just call a spade a spade and be blunt and honest with me about sex instead of insulting my intelligence about it. Like if a kid asks where babies come from, they're mature enough to handle the answer. If you treat it like it's just a thing people do, they're going to grow up to see it as normal and mundane. If you treat it like it's some big secretive forbidden thing that can never be talked about around them lest it hurt them, they're going to grow up to see a normal thing that people do as some earth-shattering burden.
Seeing boobs or a penis isnt going to kill them or have any negative effect on them unless youve made normal human anatomy into something that will. And if your kids are too young to understand that, you shouldnt be bringing them to any event as large, long, loud, tiring, and chaotic as a pride parade anyway because infants and toddlers are not ready for that kind of prolonged overstimulation in unfamiliar environments in any context

god i really feel like the mcrp fandom and the wrestling fandom are cousins. we should hold hands. we both have to deal with people not quite understanding the idea of keyfabe ("don't you know wrestling is FAKE?"/"they're using their real names so clearly it's all the real youtubers"), with ao3 tagging nightmares (did you know the wrestling fandom still has the rpf tag problem the mcrp fandom had for years because apparently ao3 doesn't understand keyfabe either?), with people who don't understand keyfabe but from the other side (yes it's not real but i should still harass the player/wrestler about it right?), with complicated plots with goofy characters, with outsiders being dead convinced that the people inside are writing rpf, even if we explain it's not real... i'm just saying. we're cousins. buddies. we should hold hands. we should understand each other. that's all i'm saying,
