secara kebetulan aku harus dan ingin menceritakan background keluaga besar aku yang terdiri dari kakek dan nenek dengan 7 anak dan dianugerahi 32 cucu plus ditambah dengan 20 cicit, super besar kan?

keluarga besar aku ini kesemuanya menetap dan tinggal bertetangga di bandung, rumah aku berseberangan secara langsung dengan rumah kakek nenek, 2 rumah pamanku dan rumah budeku secara bersamaan, daaan disebelah rumahku juga langsung bertentangaan dengan sepupu ku yang udah berkeluarga dan punya 2 anak, yang lainnya tetap berada satu desa dengan rumahku namun agak jauh beberapa meter

dari 7 anak kakek dan nenek, satu pamanku meninggal ketika masih muda

lalu, 6 anak dari kakek dan nenek ini memiliki background agama islam dengan aliran yang berbeda, seperti aku yang muhammadiyah, sepupuku yang NU, pamanku yang syiah, dan bibiku sendiri persis, dari semua itu kakekku sendiri mengudarakan lintas mazhab

baru-baru ini aku menyadari sesuatu dari keluarga super besar ini, sejak kecil sampai umur aku 21 tahun ini, aku tidaaak pernah sekalipun mendengar sendiri atau dari cerita orangtuaku atau bahkan melihat atau merasakan pertikaian antar keluarga besar yang menyangkut urusan aliran yang super multialiran ini, tidak pernah dan tidak akan

alasannya?

ini baru pemikiranku dan analisis kecil-kecilan aku aja, cuman keluarga besar aku ini tidak pernah bertikai soal aliran keagamaan masing-masing, ya karena dari 'basic'nya aku dan sepupu-sepupuku atau 6 anak kakek dan nenek ini sudah hattam sekali, bahwa kita semua berbeda daaan it's really reaaaally fine at all!

bahwa, aku dan sepupu-sepupuku tau kalau bacaan salat kita beda dan kita fine finee aja dengan itu, bahwa untuk beberapa zikir juga kita berbeda, bahwa cara berpakaian kita berbeda dan itu ngga apa-apa buat aku dan keluarga besar, atau mungkin menentukan waktu imsak saat puasa, atau hari raya ied fitri yang berbeda, atau bahwa ada cara-cara pemikiran yang dasar juga di kita berbeda daaan kita ngga pernah berdebat atau bahkan sampai bertikai, ngga pernah karena balik lagi, sejak awal konsepnya adalah kita sudah sama-sama memahami dan mengaminkan perbedaan itu,

kesemua perbedaan itu memang cukup dominan dalam hal fiqihnya daan tentu secara jelas islam tetap agama aku dan keluarga besar untuk 'berserah diri' hanya dan satu-satunya kepada Allah, kan inti dari intinya seperti itu, jadi tidak ada yang harus diributkan lagi

aku bersyukur, aku memiliki privillege atas tidak pernah adanya pertikaan multialiran dalam keluarga besarku, bahwa Allah itu sangat adil kepada hamba-hambanya, termasuk kepada keluarga besarku yang semoga perbedaan itu terus terawat dan terjaga sampai ke generasi-generasi Muchtar Adam selanjutnya

Weekends with loved ones

Spending my weekend with the love of my life and our beautiful sons.. it truly is happiness.

Sadly, we are not a regular happy family but instead we are a different family... divorced and have been for quite some time.

How did I then spend the weekend with the love of my life and our sons? Well... we get along great. We have moved past the anger and fights and hurt. It was an unplanned weekend away.

But a weekend together made me realize that we are a happy family, a different kind of family but filled real love. I was spoiled with a weekend at the beach, time with the important people in my life and reminded that time does heal. In time, you forget the hurt, the disappointment and the mistakes. And eventually all that remain are the good memories and the happy times.

Memories are treasures we keep in our hearts.

We are so fulfilled having a family of our own but now we are older we can see that there are so many ways to live a life. When we were growing up the only option for successful adulthood presented to us was the traditional model of a woman marrying a man and afterwards having children. Now we are older we are aware that there are so many valid and different ways to live. People can have children and never marry, they can choose to marry and never have children. People can choose how they express their gender and sexuality. The important thing is the courage to make an authentic choice. As an autistic person growing up I needed to be explicitly told this and I needed permission to explore and express myself. As this didn’t happen I ‘chose’ to live a traditional life.
