* They have rant sessions that are completely judgment free where they can talk on and on about their ugliest moments/thoughts, and basically most the things they cant tell others. whether it has to do with their demon side or not

* Miras demon has a constant thirst for mayhem, and Gray (being the instigator he is) will give it to them no questions asked

* in turn when Gray gets into arguments and hes wrong, Mira will update wikipedia pages so hes right

* theyre so passive aggressive towards each other

* When they fight everyone within a 8 mile radius needs to be evacuated, no matter how small the fight looks, they get vicious and it’s terrifying

* if you interrupt them you may as well be signing your death warrant

* They always act like nothing happened when they’re done, leaving everyone tiptoeing around them for weeks post

* Grays phone is on dnd constantly, Mira is one of the only few people that is set to come through

* and the local police station, but thats the same thing

* When Mira doesnt answer his calls he’ll leave incriminating voicemails and wont answer her calls for hours after

I'm sorry do not I hold no will ill towards Miraxus just trying to understand how doss this ship comes to making sense all I see are official arts of the couple and the only time of their "real" interaction-as far as I recall- is when Laxus was outside of FT still and he demands for Lucy to be his woman during Phantom Lord and Mira basically exploded I guess that counts as one but there has not really been others besides of them teaming up during Grand Magic

Unless more unfolds during the 100 yq but that is where I only find the arts nothing on their relationship

They also attended a wine tasting event in the town the cabin was closed too

Cana and Erza got them thrown out for being too rowdy

Erza gets very loud when she’s drunk/buzzed in the slightest and Cana is her biggest instigator

Once they got back to the cabin, they broke out more alcohol and some games

They played Who’s the Guild Master, Erza’s favorite

Cana joked that the game was unnecessary because she already was the guild master (i hc she becomes fairy tail’s next guild master)

Freed and Mira are sore losers, especially when drunk, and a fight almost broke out between them and Erza

Lucy did her best to calm them down while Laxus and Cana watched them

Cana was cheering on her girlfriend and eventually Laxus started cheering on Freed

tbh sometimes i just flat out ignore Natsu being END bc i genuinely dont know what to do with it,

The headcanons i have for demons dont really fit in with his character like they do with Gray and Mira. I could say its because he was brought up as a human and is only half demon so he didnt develop demon/esque traits. But the same can be said abt Gray so like???? Logic sucks

This was requested on AO3 by Pup.

The requester wanted this oneshot to be based on some scene in Stranger Things. I don't watch Stranger Things and have no desire to, so I don't really know how well I will be able to base this on the scene. I am using two videos that the requester sent me for reference. This also has mentions of Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.

Running Up That Hill (Freed x Lucy ft. Bixlow, Natsu, Gray, and Mira)

Freed paced around the infirmary, occasionally glancing at his girlfriend, who was lying in one of the beds, appearing almost lifeless. He crossed his arms over his chest as he continued to pace. He was aware of Bixlow, Mira, Natsu, and Gray working on a way to save her. They didn't know what was going on, at least, not entirely. All they knew was that a dimension-crossing demon that resided in the mental plane was trying to kill Lucy. They hadn't been able to figure out its intention, but they did know that it had to be killed before it could accomplish its plans.

The plan of action that they had managed to come up with was that Bixlow would use his Seith Magic to open a portal to Lucy's mind, this would allow Natsu, Gray, and Freed to enter, thus saving Lucy and defeating the demon. Mira would then devour the demon for her Take-Over Magic.

Freed didn't quite understand how Bixlow was going to do this because he hadn't listened to the explanation. All he cared about at the moment was that they save Lucy. He looked back over at Lucy as his own footsteps became the only thing that he could hear. The talking of his guildmates was nothing more than inaudible mutterings upon his ears. His sea-green eyes moved back down to the wooden floor as he continued his pacing. He dug his fingernails into his clothed arms as the demon that feed his Dark Ecriture Magic roared for Lucy's safety and the death of whatever was harming her. It was a struggle to keep his own demon contained.

His mind wandered to the possibility of Lucy dying, of them not being able to save her. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes and he stopped in his tracks, his back facing his four guildmates. He blinked his eyes rapidly, trying to blink away his tears. Unfolding his arms, he looked down at his hands, seeing that they were trembling. Clenching his teeth and balling his fists, he turned around to look at Lucy again. Seeing her laying in the infirmary bed, possibly fighting for her life with no escape while her guildmates worked to save her, Freed made his way over to the door and walked out of the infirmary, closing the door behind him.

He leaned against the wall opposite the closed door and slide down to sit on the floor. Memories of his and Lucy's relationship flashed through his mind. Going on dinner dates, having picnics in a park underneath the stars, going to the library together, protecting each other on jobs, and sweet and passionate kisses shared in private moments. All of these memories, these moments, he cherished. He loved Lucy. He had never been faced with her possible death before, and now that he was, he felt useless. His Dark Ecriture Demon was roaring with protective rage and fought against Freed's restraints.

Tears streamed down Freed's cheeks as he brought his knees up to his chest and buried his face into them, his hands fisted into the sides of his green hair. He hissed curses at himself. His girlfriend was facing death and he wasn't doing anything! He was being useless and yet he wasn't able to bring himself to do anything of use! What could he even do at this point? Bixlow hadn't even been able to open the portal yet. The fact that the seith mage had never done this before wasn't comforting, no matter how much he brushed it off.

His body trembled and a few sniffles slipped through. "Lucy..." He tearfully whispered her name, wanting her back in his arms. He wanted this all to be a nightmare. He wanted to wake up in a cold sweat and look at the spot next to him in the bed that he and his girlfriend shared, see Lucy sleeping peacefully, and then pull her closer as he drifted back to sleep, comforted by the fact that the woman he loved was safe and with him. He wanted to see Lucy's beautiful smile and hear her comforting voice. He was useless, helpless, unable to save his girlfriend from the demon that had invaded her mind and was trying to kill her.

As the green-haired man continued to drown and struggle to restrain his demon, the infirmary door burst open, causing Freed to freeze, but not look up. He heard Mira cry, fear and panic evident in her voice, "Freed! Something is happening to Lucy!"

Hearing this, Freed bolted past her and into the infirmary, skidding to a stop and staring up at what had caused Mira to come running to him. Lucy was levitating several feet over the bed, her body convulsing. Freed whipped around to look at Bixlow, commanding, "open the portal, damn it!"

Bixlow responded with panic, "I can't until we wake her up!"

Natsu questioned, flames already beginning to rise from his fists, "how do we do that?"

The seith mage answered, "I don't know!"

As Bixlow, Natsu, Gray, and Mira began to discuss, or rather, argue, about how to wake up Lucy, Freed stared up at his girlfriend, her body convulsing more viciously. Tears welled up in his eyes again and he took a step backward, hating the sight of Lucy going through something that was surely terrorizing. His demon once again began to fight to take control of his body, desperate to save the celestial wizard. Freed balled his fists at his side and clenched his teeth, his ability to hold back his demon becoming increasingly difficult. His mind raced for a solution. How were they supposed to know how to wake her up? They didn't even know what was going on, just that some demon was trying to kill Lucy. The rune mage was at a loss, until he was suddenly hit with an idea. He ran out of the infirmary to get Laxus' sound pod magic headphones.

As her guildmates worked to save her, Lucy was running through the nightmarish dreamscape that the demon hunting her had trapped her in. Fearful tears streamed down her cheeks as she ran, searching for a place to hide despite knowing that it would be a fruitless attempt, even if it meant being able to catch her breath for a few moments.

The landscape around her was barren, black dirt getting kicked up as she pushed herself further. The sky was a flaming, almost hellish red. It provided just enough light for her to see where she was running, allowing her to dodge the red spikes that jutted high out of the black ground. Her breathing was heavy and her legs were aching. She couldn't hear the demon following after, causing her to wonder if it was even following her. She was tempted to look behind her, but she didn't, scared of what she might be faced with if she did.

Lucy bit back a cry of terror. She wanted this to be nothing more than a nightmare. She wanted to wake up in the arms of her boyfriend. She wanted to go back to Fairy Tail, laughing with her team, watching as her guildmates brawled, and cuddling against Freed's side as he wrapped a comforting and protective arm around her. She wanted this to end. She didn't want to die.

As she pushed herself on, she was suddenly run into from the side and slammed against one of the red spikes that rose from the black ground. She struggled to breathe as she was held in the air against the red spike. She clawed at the hand that was wrapped around her neck, but the hand didn't lessen its hold. Instead, it tightened, causing Lucy to struggle more. She continued to claw, her feet pushing against the demon's abdomen as her mouth was agape with strangled gasps. Pain shot through her neck and her eyes felt as though they were going to pop out of their sockets at any moment. Her brown eyes feel upon the demon. It appeared as though it was stripped of its skin, red muscle and pinkish-white ligaments never failing to send a shiver down Lucy's spine. It had no lips, leaving its teeth visible in a permanent sneer. It didn't have eyelids either, giving it an unblinking stare that bore into Lucy's trembling soul.

Lucy's struggle gradually became weaker and weaker. As her consciousness drifted away from her grasp and her eyelids drooped, she thought of her guildmates. No more jobs with Natsu, Erza, and Gray. No more shopping sprees with Evergreen, Mira, Juvia, and Wendy. No more boy-talk with Cana and Mira. No more library visits with Levy. No more pranking with Bixlow or helping Laxus and Makarov with paperwork. No more dates or kisses with Freed. A few tears slipped from her eyes as her mind rest on her boyfriend. She regretted that she hadn't told him that she loved him yet, having wanted to do so on their one-year anniversary. Now, it seemed that she wouldn't be able to do that. She wouldn't be able to marry the man that she loved. She wouldn't be able to have a family with him.

This was how she died.

This was her end.

She was succumbing to the darkness of her death when she heard a familiar sound. She was just conscious enough to register that she was released by the demon and dropped to the black dirt below her, landing painfully on her stomach. She regained her consciousness after several moments, the sound becoming increasingly more audible. She released a low groan as she lift her head to look in the direction of the sound. She eventually managed to recognize it as her favorite song, "Running Up That Hill."

Her vision was blurry, but with several blinks, she was able to clear it. A distance away from her was what looked like a portal, revealing Fairy Tail's infirmary and a few of her friends just beyond it. What caught her attention, however, was Freed. Even from several yards away, she could see that he was crying, trying to hide it from the others but ultimately failing. She looked up at the demon, seeing that it was staring at the distraction.

Deciding that this was her chance, Lucy dragged herself to her feet and broke into a run, following the sound of her favorite song and the sight of her boyfriend. She pushed herself further as she regained her bearings from almost being choked to death.

She reached out her hand as she desperately closed the distance and jumped how the portal-like curiosity. She felt the demon's claws graze the back of her neck, but miss her as she passed through the portal, a smile breaking onto her face at the thought of finally being free from this living nightmare.

Upon seeing Lucy's convulsing body drop from mid-air, Freed launched himself onto the bed and caught her in his arms, dropping down to his knees as he stared down at her. Lucy gripped his clothed arms tightly as she went into a coughing fit, her eyes screwed shut and her cheeks freshly tear-stained. Freed cradled her against his chest, whispering words of comfort as he threaded his fingers through her blonde hair. His Dark Ecriture Demon growled and calmed only slightly, allowing Freed to ensure that Lucy was alright.

Lucy quickly calmed her coughing and buried her face into Freed's chest, curling into him and trembling. The rune mage tightened his hold on her, but not painfully so. Their moment of reunion was broken when Bixlow cleared his throat. Freed looked up to see his teammate standing beside the bed. The larger man gestured to an opened portal as he said, "I'll look after Cosplayer, go with the others."

Freed hesitated. He didn't want to leave Lucy, but he also wanted to rip the cursed demon apart for harming his girlfriend. His own demon strongly urged him to go, roaring for the enemy's death. After a bit of struggle, both because Freed was reluctant to let go of his girlfriend and because Lucy's grip on his clothes had tightened, the green-haired man was able to make it through the portal.

Upon stepping through, he found that Natsu was raining fire upon the demon as Gray used an icy sword to cut off its muscled tendrils that erupted from its back. Mira stood to the side, ready to join the fight if needed or devour it upon its defeat.

Freed's brow furrowed at the sight of the demon and he marched toward it, his hand on the hilt of the sheathed rapier at his side. He rushed toward the demon and swiftly unsheathed his rapier, murmuring, "Dark Ecriture: Destruction." He slashed at the demon's tendrils, cutting off several of them in a flash. He landed several feet behind the demon and turned around to see it snarling at him. He peered past it, watching as Natsu, Gray, and Mira stepped back to stand by the portal, allowing him to face off the demon on his own.

Freed moved his sea-green gaze back to the demon, he took a deep breath and raised his inscribing runes upon himself and allowed his demon to do as it pleased with his opponent. The demonized Freed rushed toward the demon, aiming to deliver a punch at its jaw, but the demon managed to dodge, however, Freed whirled around to punch it square in its skinned face, launching it several yards away.

Freed jumped onto the demon before it could rise back to its feet and raised his magic-infused fists to rain punches upon it. The demon roared in pain, the ground below it cracking and breaking with the force of Freed's blows. The demonized rune mage didn't stop unleashing his fury until the demon that he was attacking was rendered a mangled, bloodied mess.

Satisfied with the produced results, Freed reverted back to his human form, his Dark Ecriture Demon growling as it retreated into the depths of Freed's soul. The rune mage turned on his heel and bolted for the portal, now wanting nothing more than to hold Lucy in his arms, protecting and comforting her.

Once emerging, he made his way over to the bed that Lucy was laying in, curled into herself and trembling as she cried as quietly as she could. Freed's heart twisted painfully at the sight and shooed Bixlow away, who was unsuccessfully attempting to comfort his friend. The green-haired man sat on the bed before he easily lifted Lucy onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her tightly while she clung to him.
