To understand those without empathy, or to understand pwASPD or pwNPD, we need to dissect guilt vs remorse vs regret.

I can feel regret, but I cannot feel guilt, yet I have all my friends and even my therapist insisting that my regret is actually guilt, and that guilt is what makes me a “good person”.

The difference between guilt and regret are most important to this discussion.

Guilt = “a moral emotion that occurs when a person believes or realizes—accurately or not—that they have compromised their own standards of conduct or have violated universal moral standards”

Regret = Wishing you could have changed/prevented past mistakes (or perceived mistakes)

Guilt is tied closely to emotion and empathy, while regret is more focused on the self. I experience regret because when I have harmed others, I don’t feel their pain at all, and I instead feel my own pain when I face the consequences of my actions, and when I’m inconvenienced by them. Or sometimes the inconvenience is so minor that I dont feel any pain at all, and I just feel annoyance.

The nuckelavee (...) is a horse-like demon from Orcadian folklore that combines equine and human elements. British folklorist Katharine Briggs called it "the nastiest" of all the demons of Scotland's Northern Isles. The nuckelavee's breath was thought to wilt crops and sicken livestock, and the creature was held responsible for droughts and epidemics on land despite being predominantly a sea-dweller.

Cupioromantic: Someone who wishes to feel romantic attraction, but can't. This falls under the Aromantic umbrella.

Coralic: a term in the Split Gender System for people who have a woman or woman-aligned gender identity, but feel most comfortable with a neutral gender expression (I only recently discovered this term btw so we're all learning together :D)

Omnisexual: An identity falling under the multisexual/bisexual umbrella, Omnisexuality is similar to, but distinctly different from pansexuality. It is the attraction to all genders, but gender will play a role in that attraction
