You know what I'm a sucker for? Deadly rain. When something so beautiful and vital to life turns into something that can extinguish it in a moment, something that is feared. As in:
Deemo II by Rayark Inc: Where rain causes you to bloom into beautiful white flowers and die.
Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson: Where rain causes spores to grow that can all kill you in increasingly creative ways.
Which leaves me to trying to worldbuild something up to par... blood rain? Literal acid rain? Tumbleweed rain?
Just finished DEEMO II and… wow. The story, the visuals, the music, everything felt like it had so much love put into it. The ending was so sad and sweet. I would absolutely watch a movie based on this (though the cutscenes are basically a movie already), it feels so Studio Ghibli already.
I did a little digging and based on their official statement (which ironically was supposed to assure people they don't use AI) they definitely seem to be using AI in various games of theirs.
I'm so mad about this. Deemo got me through some really tough times as a kid, and I've been playing on and off for a little over a decade now. Obviously I won't be spending any more money on Deemo 1 or 2 until Rayark can prove they're not using AI and have rehired any artists that want to come back.
In the meantime, though, does anyone know if just playing the games benefits them in any way? Neither game shows ads so they don't make money off me that way, I already have both of them downloaded so that won't boost their numbers on Google Play, and again, I will not be buying anything from them or participating in the online events in Deemo 2, or recommending the games to anyone. If I have to give up these games entirely to avoid supporting AI I will, but I won't do so lightly.
Just found out that Rayark is using AI for their recent artworks :(( looks like I'll have to put off playing Deemo II for a long time now.
For any of you who's here for my CR posts, just know that I also haven't played CRK since the Boycott of CR Yogurca Update so in the slim chance that I DO make fanart of it, some of the info/designs won't be up to date.
