Word Count: 2,530
Warnings: Angst & Abuse. In particular, religious/cult abuse. Death, dying, and trauma after a near-death experience. Dissociative vibes. The end has a really reaffirming, comforting example of friendship. I wish everyone had a Josh in their lives.
Author's Notes: I really struggled on this chapter. Mostly because I've been sick for all of July and only recently started to recover. My spirit was willing to write but my flesh was weak. 🤣 Anyways, I'm still on my Angsty!Davina hype. This chapter delves deeper into that. Oh! By the way, I changed "Vincent Webb" in Chapter One to "William Webb" so as not to confuse everyone because there's already a "Vincent" in The Originals. It'll be William Webb moving forward.
This'll be the last Davina chapter for awhile.
Please feed me comments, hearts, and reblogs if you liked this 🌹You can find me on A03 as accidentalslayer.
Pairing: Yandere!Elijah & Klaus Mikaelson x Fem!Reader (eventually) Summary: Davina gets an unexpected visit from her best friend Josh who has some, erm...concerns about her mental health. Also, life gets weirder for the young Harvest Girl when a truth is revealed. One that could change her life forever.
Recommended Song: "You Were Cool" by: The Mountain Goats

Chapter Three: Jonah's Whale (Part Two)
Cold hands shook Davina. Muffled sounds hit her ears. Someone was shouting, their voice fraught with urgency. It was enough to snatch her out of sleep and snap her eyes open. Peering through a blurred vision still addled by dreams, she looked up at the person who had a vice grip on her arm, then blinked.
It was a boy; dark-haired, dark-skinned, wearing an Abercrombie & Fitch polo shirt underneath a worn hoodie that looked like it'd seen way better days. Fastened around his wrist was a friendship bracelet that Davina immediately recognized as the one she'd made a year ago while living at St. Anne's. The initials 'J.R.' and 'D.C.' embellished its design in bright, rose-colored thread. The letters were joined together like clasped hands inside a heart that she'd gotten a migraine over weaving at the time. Davina was a much better artist with charcoal sticks than with cotton twine, anyways. Despite all the grueling hours of training she had gotten out of the Sanguinem Knot.
Groggily, Davina wondered if she could trust her sight?? Perhaps this was another nightmare or an illusion cast by Monique to trick her? Could it really be...
"J-Josh...?"
"Davina!"
It looked like Josh. It sounded like Josh. It bit its lip nervously like Josh. But Davina needed more proof just to be sure. Illusion magic had its limits. And memories weren't easily replicated. So, she asked the boy something that only the real Josh would know:
"What was my favorite show in 9th grade? If you don't answer it correctly, I swear to the goddess, I'll scream so loud the whole compound will hear it."
"Josh" released hold of Davina's arm, a confused frown upon his lips, "Uhh, that's a trick question, right?? You told me your mom only let you watch TV for "educational" purposes. I was the one who got you into binge-watching stuff for fun. Uhhhh, but hey, Davina, your books are-"
"List the three most embarrassing things you did in grade school. Your Sonic and Winx Club phase doesn't count."
"It SO does."
"Screaming in...three...two...one-"
"Okay!!!" The boy who might be Josh exclaimed, throwing both hands up in the air and conceding to her demands, "I stole a pack of cigarettes out of my homeroom teacher's purse on a dare then puked when I tried smoking too many of them to impress my crush. My mom made me wear this baby bear costume on Halloween and I had to go trick or treating in it. I accidentally sent nudes to my uncle-"
"Josh! It IS you!"
"I mean. Yeah, duh. Why wouldn't it be?? I texted you yesterday about coming over, remember??"
Despite being a vampire with heightened senses, Josh didn't see how fast Davina moved from her seat to pull him into a hug. And he was surprised by how hard she squeezed him, like he was a life raft, or buoy on some stormy sea. Josh took it all in stride, though. He knew Davina well enough to understand that she was going through Hell now that she was back with the Coven. But there was something...off...about her. Different than before. His eyes strayed to the steel table he'd found her crouched over and fast asleep upon. To the book pile she'd been thumbing through...
Every tome on the table was scorched. Strange writing had been scrawled across their pages in Davina's penmanship. Josh didn't recognize the language. The words seemed foreign. Unearthly. Almost alien. But there was one symbol he could decipher amidst the chaos; it was the number 7. It repeated (over and over again) in varying fonts and sizes.
Josh waited for Davina to pull away from the hug before asking if she was okay. Although, judging by the dark circles underneath her eyes, it was a safe bet to assume that she wasn't.
"I'm fine," Davina replied with a smile on her face, "Just passed out while studying these grimoires. They're super old-fashioned. Like, created in the Dark Ages or something. The Coven says they're mandated reading material for us Harvest Girls. But between you and me? I'd rather be studying Grapes of Wrath."
Josh grimaced in response, "Yeesh, that bad?"
"The worst, actually."
"They look, uhhh-"
Josh trailed off, trying to think of the right word to use, but ended up saying the one that was on the tip of his tongue:
"-crispy."
Davina pointedly ignored his comment. Instead, she offered Josh some tea with a tired sigh.
"I'm more into the red stuff these days...but sure. I'll have some if you do." He answered her, trying to keep his voice light and carefree, "Anything in those cabinets that'll help me walk in the sun??"
"Nope. Just peppermint."
"Damn! Foiled again!"
This merited a smirk from Davina. Josh took the win, following his friend across the conservatory, to a small alcove where an electric kettle and tea service was laid out for anyone's use. There was even a convection oven, accompanied by all the fixings for toast. Davina flipped the power button on the kettle. Silently, she watched as it began to heat up and boil their water. Josh tried filling the empty space with conversation.
"So, it looked like you were having a nightmare. A really bad one. Wanna talk about it?"
Davina made no comment besides a quick shrug and a grunt. She seemed more preoccupied with choosing the mugs they'd drink out of. Or the tea they'd make. Undeterred, Josh pressed the issue harder, hoping his friend would open up to him.
"You know," he continued speaking, "they say that telling a friend about your nightmares can help them seem less scary. Like, once you talk about it, you'll see how ridiculous the dream was. Sometimes, I still have nightmares about waking up in class buck naked, and Klaus is there..."
Davina rose an eyebrow, "Who's 'they'??"
An embarrassed laugh rolled out of Josh, cheeks reddening upon admittance that it came from a self-help book he was reading; 'The Dark Side of the Light Chasers' by Debbie Ford. He'd found it laying in a cardboard box on the side of the road somewhere. He'd been going through each of its chapters (sporadically) ever since he'd found it.
"I dunno, the author writes about meditation and meeting all your different selves inside your head like Doctor Strange. I did this one exercise at the end of a chapter about self-love and acceptance and uh, I met the "me" I was before. Before all the fangs and the blood and the suddenly burning in the sun. Fun times, haaa! Anyways, look. I'm here for you, Davina. If you need a shoulder to cry on? An ear to listen to you?? We're friends! And that's what a friend does! Well, uh. I guess that's what I think a friend should do-"
Josh frowned, then said quietly:
"-I haven't really heard a lot from you lately..."
The electric kettle shut off. The water was ready. Davina poured the boiling liquid into two, footed mugs that she had chosen. Then, dipped the tea sachets in with care. The aroma of mint filled the air and the space in-between where Josh waited patiently for Davina to say something. Anything! But she didn't. So, he continued to talk while she listened, hoping that his friend would participate eventually. He was starting to get a bit frustrated by how silent Davina was being.
"You know, there's this story in that book about a person who was also having trouble sleeping. His name was Jonah. That dude from the Bible. He'd heard the voice of God tell him to pass judgment on the city of Nineveh and he reeeally didn't want to. So, he ran. Then, a whale ate him, and literally only spat him up when he accepted what he was running from. I'm not a religious person but what I'm trying to say here is-"
"That I shouldn't go on boating trips?" Davina posited, finally adding to the conversation. She offered Josh his cup of tea afterward.
Josh made a sour face while accepting the tea. He obviously didn't appreciate her wry sense of humor here...
"No! That you shouldn't run away from the things you're afraid of because you'll just make it worse for yourself. And in the end, you'll have to face it anyway. But unlike Jonah, you don't have to face it alone, Davina. I know you're going through shit after dying and being resurrected. Who wouldn't be, right?? But lately, I've been feeling like you're shutting everyone out. You haven't texted me or Cami back in weeks. What's up with that, huh??"
Now, it was Davina's turn to make a sour face.
"I'm just really busy here, Josh. Being a Harvest Girl means I have responsibilities to the Coven."
"You hate the Coven!"
"I know, but...I'm still a Harvest Girl."
"And I'm your friend, Davina! Cami is too! Don't we deserve to at least know that you're okay?!"
"The Coven said I couldn't use my phone here in the compound. They said they want me to focus on studying and classes only. No distractions..."
"And you couldn't sneak on the phone to tell us? We've been worried about you! Cami and I have been worried sick! Fuck the Coven!"
Davina rubbed her temples in response, "Josh..."
"Davina."
"What's really going on?? You're acting weird as hell."
Josh sipped his peppermint tea nervously, then flinched. He'd misjudged how hot it still was and burnt the roof of his mouth in the process. "Mm, this sure is some great leaf juice you've brewed-"
"Josh!" Davina exclaimed, starting to run out of patience, "Enough stalling. Spill. Now. What's up with you?"
With grim reluctance, as if he were pulling teeth, Josh revealed the (true) reason for his visit. It all came down to one name. A name Davina should have guessed was involved from the very start:
"It's Marcel. I-I know you guys aren't on speaking terms right now, but uhh...he's been worried too. About you. About sending you back here. About pretty much everything, to be honest. He wants to know how you're doing? If you're doing okay? Aaaand...he needs your help with a spell."
Davina groaned, "UGH. Of course he does! When does he NOT need me to do his dirty work?!"
"This isn't for him. It's for Cami! The curse on her uncle is getting worse, Davina. He's going nuts in that church of his. Marcel was wondering if there was any way to reverse whatever the Coven put on him? I don't think he has much time left..."
At the mention of the Coven, Davina tensed. She placed her cup down on the alcove's table. There was an air of finality to the gesture.
"Josh, it's different now. I can't do magic for him anymore. I can't do magic for anyone anymore... The Ancestors won't allow me. And if I break the rules again?? They'll do worse things than what they did in that abyss to me. Marcel doesn't care because he's not going to die, Josh!! Neither will you! Father Kieran and Cami are going to Heaven but I only have one place to go after this!! I can't mess up my last chance with the Ancestors...or the Coven. I won't."
Davina expected Josh to argue. Clearly, he had a stake in whatever drama Marcel was cooking up. She could see it in his eyes. A quiet desperation, like a fly caught inside a clever spider's web. Why else would he be doing this? But to her surprise, Josh only nodded. He didn't fight to change her mind.
"I'll tell Marcel you're doing fine," Josh said, "No, scratch that. I'll tell him you're doing better than fine, you're doing awesome! And that...you can't help him anymore."
"Josh, I-"
"Davina, don't."
Soft arms wrapped around Davina unexpectedly and cut short whatever apology she planned on saying. Now, it was Josh's turn to give his friend a sudden hug.
"Don't ever apologize for setting a boundary. You don't owe me or Marcel or the world shit! Okay?? If anything, we owe you. I owe you. You saved me from Klaus. You gave me back my control."
He squeezed Davina tighter in his embrace.
"Promise me that you'll take care of yourself and if you need to talk, that you'll call me. Or text. Or Instagram works, too. I'm always there to listen. You're my best friend, Davina. And the strongest person I've ever met."
"You're pretty strong too, you know?"
Josh chuckled, "I'm starting to be. Couldn't have done it without your help, Super Witch."
The mood lightened. Josh and Davina spent the rest of their time together, reminiscing. Bonding over the good memories they had. Those sacred spaces in-between murderous witches, miracle babies, Machiavellism, and The Originals where they were allowed to just be kids. And do things that kids do. Although Josh's gaze strayed to the pile of scorched books once (or twice), he made no comment on them.
Josh left somewhere around midnight. The smile in her heart left along with him, returning Davina back to reality. She ruminated while she cleaned up the mess leftover from making tea. Images of the nightmare swirled inside her mind. Filled her with dread. She was no stranger to dark dreams or terrible visions, especially after her experience working for Marcel, but this one felt...different. It felt ominous. Like the first scream of a hurricane siren.
Davina...
Or the rumblings of a storm.
Find her, Davina Claire...
As she was shelving the last item away, the floor began to shake, and the walls trembled. Her ears rang with the sound of the voice. Nearly bled. Its volume had increased tenfold since the last time she'd heard it. Davina braced herself against the onslaught, using all her strength to ignore it. But the voice proved too powerful.
She fell upon her knees and shouted, "I CAN'T! I can't help you!! I can't do ANYTHING for anyone anymore!! Don't you understand?!? I am the girl bound in chains! I am shackled to a people who HATE me and control my every move! So, to Hell with New Orleans! Let this city be swallowed up! It's NOT a French Quarter Witch's problem!!"
There came a pause in the quaking and thunder. The stillness that came afterward was thick with tension. It was as if the entity was considering its next words carefully.
You are not a French Quarter Witch, fire maiden. You are a Prophet. Called to a higher purpose. To serve the light that burns within you...
Find her, Davina Claire, and together the two of you shall be free.
"W-wait, what?! I'll be...free?"
No further elaboration was given to Davina. She called out to the entity several times. All she got was silence and stillness in return. Davina stayed in the conservatory, amongst the potted plants, until dawn broke and colored the sky with hues of gentle pink, yellow, orange, and sky blue. And in a semi-stupor, Davina began to repeat a single word underneath her breath...
Free.

davina growing up :
―  Born and raised in NOLA to a mother who was controlling as she was, she only cared about the coven. never paid any attention to davina unless it was beneficial to her. because having davina was not part of her plans.
―  Her father is out of the picture but the coven hated him because he did magic against him and did expression. that’s all she knows about her father.
―  When the coven choose her, davina’s mother was finally proud. For the first time davina saw her smile. But not because of her…But because of the power davina would bring. She never cared about davina living or dying , she only cared about the magic that would fuel the coven.
―  So when the harvest finally came, davina’s excitement and pride of being there turned to fear when they were being killed on sight.  Davina witnessed her three friends, Monique, Abigail, and Cassie all being sacrificed in the ritual, but she was with the powers she gain from all 3 she managed to kill some of the witches ( including her own mother ) when marcel interfered and took her chance.
the rest is history which you can find HERE .
― Since coming dying and coming back when the hollow brought her back, she didn’t bring davina back fully as in her soul isn’t completely whole , unknown to her that peice resides in the dark dimension ( since the ancestors Shattered them when davina died a while back ) so she has these dark impulses moments borderline without much morality but its somewhat there .
― as of now she’s looking for a way to turn into a vampire and keep her witch status so heretics and siphoners are very interesting subject for her. along with trying to fill a void she’s been feeling . she has no idea that a part of her soul remained in the dark dimension and someone is about to fill that void .

Rowing the Rarepair Rowboat: Monique Deveraux x Davina Claire (The Originals)

Note
the originals for the ask thing
favorite character: rebekah, for sure, she's my smol feral murderous sunflower, as i've said in the past haha. hayley comes a close second, as do kol, marcel, davina, and all the mikaelsons tbh, as well as cami (i just love them all so much fuck) least favorite character: ummm.... dahlia i guess lol????? also monique. i know she's just a kid but she's actually really creepy and tried to kill her aunt, hayley, and baby!hope so, yeah, having none of that bye. brOTP: josh and davina, klelijah OTP: omfg i can't choose just one, it goes against my nature haha. klamille, haylijah, klayley sometimes (although klaus def fucked up in s2), marbekah, and freya + happiness (and that keelin girl but i haven't met her yet so we'll see, i already adore them though), also kolvina, HAYBEKAH***** OT3: is it weird to say klaus/elijah/rebekah?? normally i'm not into inc*st but honestly these three can get it on. also all the siblings in tvdu act more like couples than.... well, actual couples. anyways, klaus x caroline x camille have my heart, as well as klaus x hayley x elijah. NOTP: i don't believe i have one?? i guess klaus/genevieve, because even though i like her and i liked when they were fucking she outstayed her welcome as klaus's love interest or fuck buddy or w/e. she's def far more interesting on her own as a villainous anti hero or whatever. besides, she definitely should have been kissing rebekah, they totally give off jilted exes vibes. also maybe davina/tim, because he wasn't a very interesting character (than again TO never really gave him a chance to be since he had like. all of one line). favorite storyline: definitely hayley and finding her wolf pack in the bayou, as well as 1.15 when klaus was chasing rebekah around a cemetery in the pretense of killing her. it's just so reflective of the complex traumatic experiences and toxicity surrounding this fam, and the cycle of violence and love the mikaelsons are trapped in. tbh it's the most sympathetic i felt for klaus and the moment where his character (and the actor) really shined, as well as rebekah and elijah's characters. least favorite storyline: i'd say klaus compelling cami, because while he never had any creepy intentions it's not the best start to a relationship. also whatever nonsense is going on with the Red Door or w/e (although i got a steamy haylijah kiss out of that one, even if it was just a fever dream lol). what I wish had happened but didn’t: klaus and davina friendship?????? unlikely but these two are just hilarious together and more similar than they'd like to admit tbh. i know he murdered tim or whatever but ppl that are "best friends" on tvd (see: bamon) have forgiven each other for worse. also klaus just. apologizing more often, instead of letting his pride get in the way, and letting himself admit to being emotional and talking about his feelings more often. i mean it's hilarious when he goes on murderous rampages with kol when he's sad, but i digress. what happened that I wish hadn’t: klaus physically assaulting hayley, that was an out of character move for him tbh and kind of veering into creepy d*mon territory. there were several other ways TO's narrative could have reached the point of him realizing he wanted to keep his child that didn't have to be that. also gia and aiden dying, it's a huge setback on klaus's progress, not to mention unnecessary deaths of a female character of color (so a white man can be sad about it smh) and bury your gays. i really expected better from TO.

I really liked your sasusaku X klaroline fics, do I was wondering, which other vampire diaries pairings do you like, and characters? I really like Elijah, and the relationship between him and Nicklaus. The originals were so awesome.
So glad you liked the story!
(I’m still not completely through Originals yet lol...also, there are some SPOILERS ahead for anyone considering watching)
I too, like Elijah. He’s my favorite character and I keep wishing he’ll finally get to have a non-damaging love interest and a family that doesn’t suck...
Klaroline is pretty much my only ship for TVD/Originals, although for a while I really enjoyed Kol/Davina (only for Kol tho because I actually hate Davina and all of the Harvest girls, especially Monique who I think gives witches a bad name. their characters’ are so whiny and annoying and just ugh).
I tend to stick with the canon ships, although I would have been seriously intrigued if Damon/Mason had been a thing. I feel like those two would have been a fun couple of Damon hadn’t, you know, been Damon :P
It’s a shame TVD didn’t have a mlm ship. I think that’s one of the things I didn’t like about it, was that it was so heteronormative (and the throwaway “oh Caroline’s dad is gay” so did not count) until the end and then it just felt tacked on? And Originals tried, I mean they had Josh/Aiden, but that also felt token, like they were written into the show for the sake of checking a diversity box.
And, of course, there was so much of the “kill the gays” trope present in both the series, which sucked...

Consequences Part 23
Summary: What do you do when your old frenemy threatens to cut off your army at the source? Obviously you abscond with the doppelganger in the dead of night, but every action has consequences. Pairing: Klaus x Elena Word Count: 4111
Elena rubbed firm circles over her side and leaned on the kitchen counter. Staring down at the marble she attempted to stretch and relieve the ache in her back; it had been coming and going all day.
Every time Klaus caught her in the middle of one he seemed to grow a little tenser until she could practically see the energy coiled in his body. She’d had to remind him each time about the Braxton Hicks contractions, and how it was very unlikely that she was actually in labour; at thirty-three weeks it was too early for the baby to come.
She straightened up when the ache vanished and grunted when the baby kicked her in the ribs.
“Elena,” Elijah paused in the door to the kitchen, “are you alright?” He took in her stiff posture and the way she was clinging to the counter.
“I think so,” she gasped when a second kick landed in the same spot. Drawing in a sharp breath she winced at the pain spreading over her chest.
She blinked when a hand settled on the small of her back and steered her into a chair. She held the table with one hand and lowered herself with Elijah’s help.
Wincing she took shallow breaths and held her ribs as cramps radiated under her bump.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” Elijah watched the flush on her cheeks.
“Yeah,” she nodded, “she just decided that my ribs are a xylophone.”
“Here,” he pointed to her side, “may I?”
Elena nodded and moved her hand out of the way. She drew in a sharp breath when his fingers prodded the area.
“I guess I don’t need to ask if that hurt,” he cocked an eyebrow. “It looks as if she’s bruised a rib.”
“Oh joy,” her laugh was strained.
“You should be fine,” he chuckled and straightened up. Striding to the cabinet he took down a glass and filled it with water. “I thought Niklaus was with you; where has he run off to?”
“I was trying to figure out what I was craving,” she held the bottom of her stomach, “and I couldn’t, but then it hit me… beignets. I told him I could find something else but he insisted on getting them.”
“So he’s flashed into the Quarter?” Elijah twisted his wrist to view his watch and turned off the water. “It’s nearly midnight; luckily the Café is open twenty-four hours.”
“Luckily,” she rolled her eyes. “He said he’d be back by midnight,” she reached up for the glass; somewhere in the house a grandfather clock began chiming the hour.
“I think he might be a little late,” he was passing her the tumbler at the last stroke of the clock.
Everything seemed to happen at once. Elena rocked forward and clutched her stomach. A loud snap was followed by the sound of shattering glass; liquid splashed up her side.
Elena exhaled quickly; three sharp breaths. Her eyes opened when a hand wrapped firmly around her upper arm. Panic gripped her heart and sent her curling forwards again. Elijah was sprawled across the kitchen floor; his neck bent at an awkward angle.
She screamed and tried to pull away but she was no match for the superior strength.
Kol came racing into the kitchen. He saw the open door, overturned chair, and neutralized brother before colliding with something solid. He hit the ground in a tangle of limbs.
“Kaleb…” Kol sat up, “… happy New Year? You know we have a door right?”
“What the bloody hell is going on in here?” Rebekah flashed into the room where Kol and Kaleb were standing back up. “What happened to Elijah?”
Kol shook his head and turned to Finn when he stepped into the kitchen. The eldest brother was followed by Davina.
“What the bloody hell happened in here?” Klaus dropped the paper bag on the counter and stared at the glass and water seeping into Elijah’s shirt. “Where’s Elena?”
“Oh no…” Kaleb swiped at the blood leaking from his nose. “No, no, no… fuck…” He rubbed his forehead to relieve the tension headache.
“Kaleb?” Klaus spun to face the warlock in his kitchen.
“The Ancestors contacted me this morning,” he pushed around the siblings into the study where he knew maps were kept in the drawer. “They said someone was coming for Elena.”
“What?” Klaus’ voice was deadly calm.
“Why didn’t you call us?” Davina took the map from his shaking hands.
“I tried,” Kaleb raked a hand through his hair, “I tried, but I was sealed in my house. An ancestral seal closed every point of entry, and whatever witch did it also cut my landline and scrambled the signal on my phone. I was lucky to find a spell that let me teleport here; took a bit of a toll though and it looks like I was too late.”
“At least you tried,” Davina turned to Klaus, “I’m going to need a little blood.”
“What I want to know is who managed to get the jump on Elijah,” Rebekah watched Klaus bite into his wrist; the blood dripped on to the map of the city.
“Someone already dead,” Elijah rubbed the back of his neck and stepped into the room. “Damon Salvatore has returned to the land of the living.”
Klaus tensed and watched the blood track across the page. He knew where it would settle before it did.
“If he’s alive that means he’s not working alone,” Klaus gritted his teeth. “Do you know what witch sealed you in?” He turned to Kaleb who shook his head.
Davina lowered her hands when the blood stopped in the cemetery.
“She’s back,” Elijah sighed.
“And smarter,” Klaus growled low in his throat. “She’s taken Elena where we can’t follow.”
“Correction,” Davina held up her hand, “she’s taken Elena where you can’t go without an invitation.”
++++
Finn sat Davina on her feet outside the wrought iron gates of the cemetery. He could see the tall stone structures that made up the standing graves of New Orleans.
“When exactly did burying the dead become obsolete?” Finn pulled open the gate; he and Klaus were halted at the threshold.
“Sometime during the witch massacres,” Davina turned back around and invited them in.
Rebekah nodded in agreement. She vividly remembered the day of the first massacre. The streets of the city had run red with blood.
“Yes,” Klaus stalked through the cobblestoned path, “they ran out of room in the ground.”
Fresh flowers were displayed here and there between the graves; they were the only pop of colour in the otherwise grey landscape.
Klaus froze at a fork in the path and looked both ways. Forcing himself to calm down enough to utilize his other senses he inhaled and turned to the left where the scent of lavender was strongest. He and Finn made several more turns before his older brother grabbed his arm.
“Does that look familiar?” Finn nodded to a stone angel atop one of the tombs.
Davina pushed past them and crossed her arms to ward off the winter chill. Leaning forward she read the name inscribed on the stone.
“That’s impossible,” she breathed. Looking over her shoulder she saw the straight paths of the cemetery and no sign of the gate they had entered through.
“What’s impossible, love?” Klaus temper began to flare; Elena’s shampoo had all but faded away.
“This grave,” she tapped the name, “it’s Monique’s… only…” she bit her lip and turned around to meet his flashing eyes, “… Monique’s grave was just inside the gates. I’d think we were going in circles… except…”
Davina motioned behind them to the path.
Klaus glanced over his shoulder. He spun in a quick circle and realized that each grave he could see were ones he had already passed. Gritting his teeth he leapt into the air and landed atop the roof of a marble building.
“Remind to berate Elijah for his poor taste,” Klaus stared out over the tombs. The stone buildings appeared to stretch for miles; miles beyond where the cemetery should have ended.
“Niklaus?” Finn’s eyes grew round when he jumped onto the roof of an adjoining mausoleum.
“Bloody hell,” Rebekah’s gaze flickered from one grave to the next.
“What is it?” Davina backed up so she didn’t have to crane her neck and stared at the locked muscles of the Original siblings.
Rebekah jumped back down and helped Davina up onto the roof where she could see the mess that they had stumbled into.
++++
There was a twisting sensation in her stomach and lower back. Every muscle had seized up. Just when she thought it was too much to bear the pain eased and she was left a panting mess on the stone floor.
Opening her eyes she slapped away the hands holding her arms.
“Do not touch me,” she hissed. Pushing up onto her hands she backed up until she was pressed against the cold bricks.
“Don’t be like that,” he stood from where he’d been crouched beside her. Candlelight flickered along the walls casting shadows across his face.
“How the hell are you alive?” She held her stomach as the pulling sensation started again and her muscles seized. She curled over and bit her lip.
“Made a deal with a witch,” Damon reached out to take her hand; he pulled back when she glared. “You know this might be less painful for you if you were to relax.”
Elena exhaled and tipped her head back against the bricks. Her eyes swiveled to the entrance when the sharp tap of heels sounded; a line appeared between her brows.
A tall woman with glossy red hair and stormy grey eyes glided into the mausoleum.
“Sarah?” Elena bit her lip.
“Not quite,” the red head knelt on the stone floor and placed her hands on Elena’s stomach.
“Celeste,” Elena lifted her hands to push the woman away. Fear twisted her gut that was already starting to tighten again; her muscles had frozen in place. She couldn’t even squeeze her eyes shut against the contraction; all she could do was release a pained scream.
When the pain passed she realized that Celeste had removed her leggings and draped a sheet over her thighs.
++++
“I’ll see if I can lift the illusion,” Davina dropped to sit cross legged on the roof of the mausoleum and closed her eyes. Her head snapped up when a scream echoed over the stone.
“And you can follow your ears.”
Klaus was gone before she had finished talking. Finn remained on the rooftop to watch her work; the last thing anyone wanted was to lose Davina in the maze.
++++
“Are you two sure about this?” Kaleb stared down at the worn pages of the grimoire. The ink was faded from the wear of time, but still readable on the calfskin.
“Positive,” Kol nodded.
“There is no stopping Niklaus,” Elijah lifted the lid of the box, “from killing her at which point she’ll just jump into another body.”
++++
“She’s going to kill me,” Elena’s eyes burned with angry tears. There was no chance of reasoning with Celeste, the woman had tried to kill her once before, but maybe just maybe Damon would listen to reason.
“No she won’t,” Damon shook his head. “We had a deal.”
“And you expect her to honor it,” Elena glared at the witch in the far corner of the mausoleum.
Celeste lifted a ceremonial knife from her bag. Holding it aloft she murmured something indistinct and placed the blade on a cloth covered alter.
“She just wants the kid Elena,” Damon reasoned. “She wants to keep Klaus from making a damn army.”
“You have got to be kidding me,” Elena groaned and curled over. Her limbs had unfrozen several a minute before which was good. Being able to tense up and move meant she could grit her teeth and keep from screaming.
She straightened and almost immediately curled over again.
“It looks like it’s time,” Celeste knelt and lifted the edge of the sheet.
“She tried to kill me, Damon,” Elena kicked weakly at the redhead. “Months ago; the wolves attacked her and watched over me until Klaus found me.”
“It’s time to push,” Celeste held Elena’s foot and placed it back on the ground.
“No,” she gritted her teeth and shook her head. She pressed her thighs together. “It’s too soon; she’s too little.”
“It hardly matters,” Damon rolled his eyes.
“Please…” tears streaked down Elena’s flushed cheeks, “… Damon please… help me. She’s just a baby.”
Celeste’s shoulders stiffened as the vampire’s eyes flashed. She stood abruptly and paced to a candle high on one of the walls. Bloody symbols clung to the sides.
“What are you doing?” Elena flattened her palm against the floor and pushed herself against the wall. Her eyes landed on the hands of her watch; had it really only been two hours since she’d been laughing in the kitchen with Elijah?
“Taking pre-emptive measures,” Celeste met her eyes and blew out the candle.
Elena covered her mouth with her hand. Damon had vanished into thin air; one moment he was kneeling beside her and the next he was gone.
“What did you do to him?” Elena trembled. She was fighting the instinct that was telling her to push.
“I returned him to this plain,” Celeste replaced the large candle on the wall, “and now I’ve sent him back.”
++++
Klaus fist collided with the side of a mausoleum. The stone shattered beneath his knuckles.
The trail had gone cold.
++++
Jeremy bit his cheek to keep himself from speaking and breaking her concentration. He watched the intense look on her face from the corner of his eye.
Eventually he couldn’t take the silence any more.
“Bonnie…”
“We’re going the right way,” she made a left.
“How can you tell?” Jeremy scanned the tombs as they passed. Each one looked the same to him in the moonlight.
“They left behind a trail,” she closed her eyes and felt the air with her mind. “It’s still reasonably fresh… and there’s a witch up ahead.”
Bonnie smiled triumphantly when she came to a stop and pointed to the top of a mausoleum.
Jeremy followed her arm to the shadowy figures sitting on the stone roof.
“Finn?” He squinted into the dark. “Davina?”
“Jeremy,” Finn took a look out over the rooftops and jumped down, “what are you doing here?”
“Bonnie got a message from the Other Side,” he nodded to her, “we tried calling, but every number I dialed gave me nothing but static.”
“So you drove down?”
“I drove down,” Jeremy nodded.
“A message?” Finn turned to Bonnie. “You’re a witch then?” He waited for her nod. “Perhaps you could help Davina; she’s having trouble lowering the spell.”
“What spell?” Jeremy’s eyes narrowed.
“The one concealing your sister,” Finn offered Bonnie a hand up onto the roof. “A witch has turned the cemetery into a maze.”
Bonnie sat across from Davina who had stopped chanting to stare out at the never ending tombs.
“What seems to be the problem?”
“Too much power,” Davina muttered. “I don’t know how she’s doing it. I’m a harvest witch I should be able to break through this easily; she’s got to be channeling someone.”
“Ancestors?” Bonnie guessed. “Don’t you practice ancestral magic down here?”
“It’s not them,” Davina shook her head. “They warned us about what was happening.”
“Maybe another ‘Harvest witch’?” Bonnie cocked an eyebrow.
“I can’t see any of the others wanting to help someone hurt Elena,” Davina bit her lip.
“Could be they’re not doing it willingly,” Bonnie swallowed. “Luckily for you I came prepared to help.” She held out her hands to Davina. “You know the spell and I’m channeling the magic of nearly two dozen dead witches.”
“It was rather terrifying watching her get it,” Jeremy grumbled. The dead had used something to keep him from getting to Bonnie when she had cried out in pain.
“I would imagine so,” Finn nodded.
They fell into silence as the witches began working together. A gentle wind blew through the standing graves.
++++
Kaleb wiped the ashes from his hands and watched Elijah drape a white sheet over the bones.
“Not that I’m doubting your mother’s spell,” he dropped the rag onto the table, “but what happens when it does work?”
“Her spirit will return,” Kol closed the grimoire.
“I got that,” Kaleb nodded, “it’s what she’s returning to that bothers me. What’s to keep her from jumping again?”
“The fact that she won’t live long enough to prepare another body,” Elijah leaned back against the stone wall to wait.
“That…” Kol knelt and snapped a pair of rusted shackles around the wrist bones, “… and these.”
++++
Klaus’ head snapped around with the wind. He pulled his hand from the ruined wall and watched as the new tombs seemed to shift and grow in the shimmering air.
After a moment the wind settled and a low moan reached him.
“Thank you Davina,” Rebekah breathed a sigh of relief and flashed off after her brother.
“Get the hell away from me!”
Rebekah froze outside a large tomb when Klaus emerged with his hand around the throat of a red headed woman.
“Celeste?” Rebekah arched an eyebrow. “It’s been a few centuries.” Her head snapped around to the groan coming from inside. “If you’ll excuse me…”
Elena held her stomach and gritted her teeth against the tugging pain in her abdomen. She felt like she was being split in two even pieces.
She flinched away from the gentle hands that settled on her stomach. Apparently the wind was only a momentary distraction.
“Elena, let me help you.”
Her eyes snapped open. Through the haze of her tears she made out blue eyes and blonde hair.
“Bekah?” She looked around frantically. “Celeste…”
“Is dead,” Klaus appeared and knelt at her other side.
“But she’ll…” Elena held her stomach and grimaced.
“Kaleb’s taken care of that,” Rebekah placed her hands on Elena’s knees, “the only body she’ll be possessing is her own.” The pit of her stomach fell when another contraction hit the brunette.
“We need to take you to a hospital,” Klaus wrapped an arm around her back. His eyes narrowed when Rebekah shook her head.
“I don’t think there’s time,” she held the edge of the sheet and waited for Elena’s nod. Closing her eyes she released a deep sigh and shook her head. “We can’t move her; she’s crowning.”
“I’m sorry… what?” Klaus held Elena’s hand and winced when she squeezed painfully.
“I can see the baby’s head,” Rebekah looked around. The only items she saw were laid out on an alter and she had no intention of touching those. “How long ago did she tell you to push?”
Rebekah shed her jacket and pulled off her black cardigan.
“I don’t know,” Elena gritted her teeth. Time had ceased to have any meaning a while ago.
“I’m thinking it’s been some time,” Rebekah folded her sweater. “Nik get behind her and support her back; Elena, I know you’re in a lot of pain but I need you to scoot your hips forward.”
“Why?” She leaned back into Klaus’ chest and took his hands.
“Because you need to push,” Rebekah took her hips and guided her forward. “On your next contraction bear down.”
“No way to stop it?” Elena took shallow breaths.
“Not at this point,” Rebekah shook her head.
“I can’t do it,” Elena tensed and strained with the contraction.
“Yes you can,” Klaus moved pushed her sweaty hair back from her face. “There is very little you can’t do, sweetheart.”
++++
Jeremy skidded to a stop at the cloth covered table and averted his eyes as Rebekah wrapped a soft black material around a squealing baby and lowered the sheet back over Elena’s legs.
“That’s more of my sister than I ever wanted to see.”
“Jer?” Elena looked up from the small bundle being placed in her arms. Her brother only held his gaze for a moment before turning back to the baby.
“Hey,” he waved.
“Hi,” Elena murmured, but her attention was on the baby. Her finger gently moved the dark hair back.
“We rushed down…” Jeremy trailed off and looked at Rebekah. “She’s not listening to me at all is she?”
“Nope,” the blonde shook her head. Her eyes were trained on the wonderstruck expressions on the new parent’s faces. “Nik,” she took her brother’s shoulder, “maybe we should take them to the hospital now.”
++++
“Elena,” he took her elbow and gently pulled her from the back of the car, “you don’t have to watch her sleep, sweetheart. The doctor said she was fine.”
“I don’t trust that doctor,” she watched him unhook the car seat. “What if she stops breathing, or chokes when she’s eating, or…”
Klaus pressed his fingers to her lips. Wrapping an arm around her waist he turned her to their little girl. She’d spent the first few days of her life in the NICU.
“She’s perfectly healthy,” he kissed Elena’s temple. “The doctors were amazed at how healthy she is.”
“Those doctors were pushing us out the door,” Elena crossed her arms when he lifted the carrier.
“They were pushing us out the door because she is perfectly healthy,” he closed the door and took her hand. “I’m pretty sure the only reason they kept her as long as they did was because you insisted.”
“You were just as insistent at me,” Elena walked with him up the stairs and into the house.
“For the first day,” he opened the door and was immediately greeted with a grinning Rebekah. “They gave her a clean bill of health.”
“Babies born that early can have health problems,” Elena unfastened the straps holding her in place and lifted her sleeping child into her arms.
“She’s not completely human, sweetheart,” Klaus cupped the infant’s cheek.
“I suppose not,” Elena inhaled slowly and smiled, “but…”
“First sign of trouble I will personally pick her up and run to the hospital,” Klaus swore. Nothing would have stopped him.
“Promise?” Elena met his eyes.
“You have my word,” he smiled and kissed her quickly.
“Am I going to get to hold my niece?” Rebekah bounced on the balls of her feet.
“I don’t know,” Elena frowned, “am I going to get her back?”
“Don’t do it ‘Lena,” Kol leaned on the banister, “Bex here is likely to run off with her.”
“I’m not going to kidnap her,” Rebekah rolled her eyes. “Out of everyone in this house I’m the only one that hasn’t had a hand in a kidnapping attempt.”
“I think you’re forgetting Finn,” Elena eased the baby into Rebekah’s arms.
“Is this her then?” Kol leaned over his sister’s shoulder; he and Elijah were the only ones who had yet to actually see the baby.
“No,” Elena rolled her eyes, “this one’s a loaner.”
“I think she’s mocking you,” Davina came down stairs and covered her mouth to stifle her laugh. She leaned over Rebekah’s other side and grinned down at the baby. “She looks bigger.”
“She is a little bit,” Elena crossed her arms and blinked tiredly.
“Come on love,” Klaus steered her towards the stairs, “you need to get some sleep before she wakes up hungry.” He reached for the baby.
“No,” Rebekah shook her head and smiled. “I just got her; I’ll bring her upstairs in a bit.”
“Somehow I don’t believe you,” Klaus smirked from the steps.
“I will,” Rebekah cooed, “she’ll be hungry eventually and that’s something I can’t do for her.”
++++
When Elena opened her eyes a few hours later it was to see Klaus lifting their crying daughter from her bassinet. She sat up and held out her hands.
“Alright,” Elena yawned, “what seems to be the problem?” She popped the top buttons of her shirt.
“Would you like some help, love?” Klaus chuckled. He took the baby so Elena could finish unbuttoning her shirt. “Here you go, Claire.”
He positioned a pillow under Elena’s arm to help her support the baby.
“You’re listening…” she gasped when Claire started suckling. She wondered if she would ever get used to the tugging sensation.
“I’ve been listening to her heart since she was born,” he held her arm when she flailed. “Your mum’s a tad paranoid, sweetheart,” he smiled when her fingers curled around his thumb.
“I’m paranoid?” She smirked. “You’ve been listening to her heart beat since she was born.”
“Alright,” he smiled and kissed Elena’s cheek, “we’re both paranoid.”
“Much better,” she nodded. Laying her head on his shoulder she watched Claire’s blue eyes blink up at her.

_________
That evening
Elijah got in the Whitmore diner, where Klaus and Kol waited for him already.
"Where are you? Last night you bailed on us! Today, you're not answering any calls?"- Klaus said-"wearing a suit? Did someone die?"
Elijah took his tie off and putting it in the jacket pocket answered Klaus -
"Yes, someone died, but this is not why I am wearing a suit. I got a job. Hey, it's good to see you, Kol."
"Same here, mate."- Kol said.
"A job?"- Klaus now cut in.
"Yes."- Elijah confirmed.
The waitress, who was their friend from school days came now to them and they ordered some food before he continued telling his cousins how it all came about.
"What's the job?"- Kol as asked.
"Driving. A chauffer's job"- Elijah replied.
"What?"- Klaus couldn't believe it-"you said you will never do that!"
"I know, but this is - different."- Elijah said.
"Different? How? You didn't say you are looking for anything? You could have worked at the garage."
"As what?"- Elijah said-"I am no mechanic."
"True."- Klaus said-" but - we would think of something. Anyway, who is it for? And how is this different?"
Elijah now told all that had happened the night before, how he met Y/N, and all that had occurred since.
"You are kidding me?"- Klaus couldn't believe the extraordinary story.
"Y/N- wow!"- Kol said.
At that moment, Davina got in, and as they were sitting in the first booth, she heard Kol's exclaiming.
"Y/N- what?"- Davina said sittind down next to her brother-"- her look wide-eyed awaiting an answer.
"He is driving Miss Y/N "- Klaus replied before Elijah could.
"This is a joke, right?"- Davina could not believe what she was hearing,
"I am."- Elijah now said.
How, what, when - questions ensued again. And Elijah had to explain to his sister how it all came about.
"This is wild!"- Davina was elated-"OMG! I got to call Monique!"
She got her phone out and immediately texted her friend. Her friend called her right back and Davina now went out to take the call.
Klaus and Elijah exchanged looks as to say - Davina's gone nuts.
What no one noticed was Kol,staring at a woman the moment she walked in the diner. It was Bonnie Bennett, her friend from college. He had not seen her for years. Now, his heart kicked a flatter, seeing her looking gorgeous. He now made an excuse that he had to go to the bathroom.
“What’s up with him?”- Elijah asked as he had noticed Kol’s odd behaviour.
Klaus waved it off as he didn’t know. He now went off telling Elijah about the blonde goddess he had been with last night.
Returning from the bathroom, Kol stopped at the booth, Bonnie now sat down at greeting her.
“Kol? Hey- how are you?”- Bonnie said cheerfully.
“I’m good. How are you? What are you doing - here?”
“Ahm- my boyfriend is from here. We are visiting his parents.”- Bonnie replied.
“Your boyfriend?”
“Yeah. Kai Parker.”
“Kai is your boyfriend?”- Kol said with a tad of surprise and disappointment in his voice. He had the loathing cleverly behind his eyes. He now saw Kai walk in, and not wanting to meet up with him he now said see you around maybe to Bonnie and went to join his brother and his cousin.
Both Elijah and Klaus now asked him why his mood was suddenly so very off. He now told them about Bonnie, and her date.
“Haven’t seen him here for ages. Or any of his sisters.”- Klaus said.
“I can’t believe she is with him.”- Kol now said.
“Seriously, what’s up with you and her?”- Elijah now asked.
“Nothing. I just fancied her like hell in college, but she always managed to be with one or the other jerk”- Kol replied.
“And never gave you the time of day”- Klaus now remarked.
“Anyway, what’s up with you and Greta?”
“We broke up.”- Kol said-”she wanted to go to California, and I just was not up for leaving at the West Coast.”- Kol explained-”can we talk about something else? Tell us more about Y/N”
“There is nothing to tell”- Elijah said tucking into his food.
“Oh, come on. You can do better than that”- Klaus now said.
“As I said. There is nothing to tell.”
Hayley Marshall now walked in the diner and Klaus now remarked-
“Here is trouble.”
The brunette now seeing the brothers and her ex strolled up to them, greeting the bunch. And the way she was, she sat down next to Klaus and started chatting to them as if they welcomed her presence.
All three of them were happy to see Davina return and one bye one they excused themselves and left the diner. But before Elijah could escape, she kind of grabbed him by the hand asking him out for a drink.
“Yeah, maybe”- Elijah said and swaying his look to his sister, telling her not to stay out long he went.
A bit later in his apartment, Elijah laid down in his bed, thinking of only one woman. Y/N. Wondering how she was doing, as he left her all sad.
💘
The next day, Elijah arrived at the Gilbert house half an hour before the agreed time.
A woman walked out of the house, now greeting the driver.
"Y/N said that you should wait for her inside. She will not be ready yet. She has an emergency conference call."
Elijah nodded a little and followed the woman into the house.
"I am Rose."- the woman said.
"Elijah Mikaelson."
"I know. Nice to meet you."
Aiden, who had arrived quite early that morning already, now got out of the study and greeted Elijah. Rose now left the two, as Isobel had already demanded Rose come to her aid.
"So, sorry about this."- Aiden said to Elijah-"but, can't let her go, before she talks to the Belgians. You, have a cup of coffee or some refreshments. Oh, and- whenever she let's you go today, please call me so we can talk her schedule for the next week. It is completely changed."
"Ok, I will."- Elijah said.
Y/N now appeared at the door of the study, wandering where Aiden got to.
"Hello"- she said to Elijah seeing him there with Joel- "Sorry, we are running late. But, I will be ready as soon as we wrap this up."
"Hello."- Elijah said back-"it's all right. I'll be - in the kitchen."
"Thank you."- Y/N said and now swaying her look at Aiden that said please hurry, went back to the study.
"Kitchen?"- Elijah asked Aiden.
"Down the corridor to the end. On the left. Mary makes the most divine  mini cinammon rolls."
Elijah was like- Mary, who? Aiden told him that he will find out. And so, Elijah ventured to the kitchen.
Mary was the family's cook. And she greeted Elijah like she knew him forever.
"Sit down. Coffee? Black with milk."
"How did you know that?"- Elijah asked.
"Never mind how I know things. Hungry?"- Mary said.
"No, not really."- Elijah replied.
"Two eggs and bacon?"- Mary continued.
"Thank you, but I was told that we will be leaving soon to wherever Ms Y/S is going."- Elijah replied.
"It will take a while till Y/N is ready."- Mary said.
"I thought that she is always on schedule."- Elijah was confused.
"Yes. That is when life doesn't throw you a kick in the gut."- Mary said.
"I don't quite understand."
Mary now served him the coffee and continued- "Ms Y/S as you called her, is juggling her mother, the news that she got engaged, which is all over the news, as well as trying to have the factory run smoothly. They are not even letting her grieve."
"She had a special connection with - Alaric? I’m sorry but I don’t know who he was”
"The family's butler. He came when Y/N was a little girl. And yes, they had a special connection. You see, her father worked all day and night to get the business going, and whenever she really needed a parent to talk to, Alaric has always been there for her."- Mary explained.
"I understand."- Elijah now said.
The way Mary now looked at Elijah, like she was sizing him up, which made Elijah say-
"Is something wrong?"
"No. Everything is just right."- Mary said-"she will be fine."
"Excuse me?"
"Nevermind me. How about a brunch?"
Elijah sighed a little and agreed to it.
💘
Elsewhere
Klaus' garage, Whitmore
Caroline, who has always been a person living the life to the max, didn't waste her time or waited for the life to come to her. She would always grab it. She now parked her grandfather's oldtimer right in front of the garage. Marcel, one of Klaus' men, now greeted her as she got in, looking for Klaus.
Klaus now got from the little office and greeted the blonde.
"How can I help you?"- Klaus said in his charming smirky way.
"I was wondering if you could service it?"- Caroline said pointed to the car-"I heard that you are the best."
"Am I?"- Klaus said.
"Well, the guys from the bar think so. If it is not so I can always take it somewhere else."
"I will look at it."
Klaus now went to the car, admiring it-
"Classic Pontiac GTO. 1968. A beauty."
"So, you can look at it? It makes a strange sound when I change gears."
"Let's test drive it and see what is wrong with it?"- Klaus said.
"Let's."- Caroline accepted with a smirky smile.
"Marcel. Hold the fort. I won't be long."- Klaus said as he got in the car, accompanied with Caroline.
💘
At the Gilbert' house
An hour or so after Elijah had arrived, Y/N finally got out of the study with Aiden. And before she could escape to the kitchen, her mother got her in the corridor now asking her about Lucien and the engagment as it was all over social media.
"I really don't want to talk about it now. Aiden will deal with that."
"Ok. Have you decided who will take over running the house?"- Isobel asked.
"No. But Rose is willing to do the job for now, until we find someone. I have to go now, mom."
"Yes. You always have somewhere to go to."- Isobel was complaining-"how will I manage everything?"
Y/N wanted to scream that she never had managed anything, but she kept quite and now apologized and went to the kitchen.
Elijah got up from the chair at the island as Y/N walked in.
"I am so sorry that you had to wait for such a long time. We can go."- Y/N said.
"Right."- Elijah said.
"Ok. We can get out here."- Y/N said and indicated they exit through the kitchen back door. She went out first, and Elijah followed her.
Mary, who was at the cooker preparing the dinner, noticed the very interesting dynamic between the two and smiled a little. Aiden, who now got into the kitchen, for the famous mini rolls, having noticed the cooks smile said-
"I think that you are thinking what I am thinking."
Mary now turned to the assistant- "I have never heard her apologize to any other driver for waiting for her."
"Exactly. Caroline told me that- but you have to keep this to yourself- they met under very unusual circumstances in Whitmore."
"No gossip, please. Y/N is not like Caroline. No matter, how much I like Caroline, she is way too much of a free spirit."- Mary said-"but what of this engagement?"
"Let's not even go there. I have a feeling that the Doctor Disaster felt that she was slipping away."- Aiden said-"I hope she falls for our Mr Gorgeous."
"Let's hope."- Mary said-"He is such a sweet young man."- the cook referred to Elijah.
"He is a dish."- Aiden said-"All right I got to go and work."
Aiden now left as well.
💘
An hour later, Y/N and Elijah arrived at the place outside of the city. It was an old people's home. Y/N spent a little while inside, and as she got out, she said to Elijah -
"Can we go somewhere- anywhere. I just don't want to go home just yet. And I got my phone if Aiden calls."
"Yes, we can. What did you have in mind? Do you want to eat something or-?"
"Yes. I am hungry a bit."- Y/N replied.
"Ok. I know a place."- Elijah said and remembered a small fish place on the beach a couple miles away.
It was a nice Seafood Schack and Grill that his father used to take them when they were kids.
"This is great."- Y/N said as they got to the place.
"They have fresh produce and it's- family friendly. I loved coming here. Every summer he would take us here. We would spend a day on the beach. "
The way Elijah spoke about it, said what a great time he must have had there.
"Do you mind if I take the suit jacket off?"- Elijah then said.
"Yes. Sure. Oh, this is not right. I should not be - taking your time -"- Y/N said suddenly realizing that they stepped over the line of employer and employee-"maybe we should go back."
"Why? I thought you were hungry?"- Elijah said.
"Yes, but - it's not right that you spend time with me - I mean- this is not work. This is - me- usurping -"
"Y/N- can I call you, Y/N?"- Elijah now said.
"Yes."
"The last couple of days were not exactly easy for you and- I completely understand if you want to escape for an afternoon- and I don't mind- "- he stopped there for a second trying to gather his thoughts-"You are not usurping my time. On the contrary- we- if you want- this can be like- two friends went out of the town- for an afternoon."
Y/N now smiled a little-"Ok. So- friend- what do you recommend?"
"Grilled fish. Sea bass. Salad. A glass of white wine. Simple."- Elijah said.
"Excellent."- Y/N was happy.
They got in the Grill, and they had exactly what Elijah suggested. And all during the meal they shared stories about their childhood as if they were friends that were going down the memory lane.
A bit later, as they finished with the food they went down the beach for a little walk. It was an afternoon of real escape, for both of them. They were not a rich woman from the Falls, and he was not the ordinary guy from Whitmore. Just Elijah and Y/N.
Come and take a trip on my rocket ship We'll have a lovely afternoon Kiss the world goodbye and away we'll fly Destination moon Travel fast as light 'til we're lost from sight The earth is like a toy balloon What a thrill you get riding on a jet Destination moon We'll go up, up, up, up Straight to the moon we two High in the starry blue I'll be out of this world with you And away we steal in a space mobile A supersonic honeymoon Leave your cares below, pull the switch, let's go Destination moon
It was like they were both on the moon. Y/N did pull the switch. She didn't know when it was the last she left all her cares behind.
"And this is how you became a race driver?"- Y/N said.
"Yes. Just like that. They thought that I was born to do it. I signed the contract and- there I was."- Elijah said as he finished telling  Y/N how he became an Indy car race driver."
"It's great to do what you dream of doing?"- Y/N said.
"Don't you? I thought that the factory is your passion?"
"Well, it- the new recipes and the whole process of getting a new product, but- everything else- making deals and always trying to be on top of everything. It- it sometimes- too much. But I am not complaining. It's just- Caroline is right - sometimes I just need to take time for myself. So, I want to thank you for this- for today- it was - really a great day. "
"I am glad that you had a great time- Y/N-"
And there they were- Elijah's eyes delightfully probed right into Y/N's.

It's weird how everyone says that tvd hates it's female characters. I always looked at tvd/to as representing great feminism. Like all of the female characters have some type of badassery in them. But then I came on here and everyone started saying how tvd treats it's female characters very badly.
Here’s a brief, non-extensive rundown of the treatment of female characters on the show.
Elena
Definition of a Mary Sue Character
Abusive relationship with Damon
Pre-relationship
http://dontbeallupinmyfriesdawg.tumblr.com/post/144617501355/itsana00-mikaelova-why-dont-you-ship
+ post relationship he was manipulative, controlling, killed her love ones when she did things he didn’t like etc..
Lost all her morals and a lot of her personality and agency via her relationship with Damon
‘Special Snowflake Syndrome’
Constantly has all her choices made for her
Caroline
Raped by Damon
Fed on by Damon
Physically harmed by Damon
Emotionally abused by Damon
Didn’t really have any individual storyline after season six
Was never put first in her relationship with Stefan
Was slut-shamed for her best friend over her rape
was never apologized to or got any resolution or closure on the situation (the show just pretended like it never happened.
Made her mom (Liz) BFF’s with her rapist
TVD just stuck two babies in her and Caroline never even had an opinion on it like she just rolled with it
Was kind of treated like shit by Stefan in s6
Is constantly forced to be around her rapist
is called derogatory things like Barbie and Blondie by said rapist
Bonnie
The list is too bloody extensive so here are some links
x x x  x (Skip to tvd)
Katherine
For such a badass character she the most disappointing anti-climatic death in history
why is that her agenda (even after rising from hell) was always to get back Stefan? The show couldn’t have her focus on something more important like uh, idk her daughter?
that whole Damon torture scene while she was on her death bed
Was nearly tricked by Klaus into sacrificing herself and dying and when she had the audacity to save herself she was punished by way of Klaus murdering her whole family and hunting her for centuries
Rebekah Mikaelson
Suffered within a pretty abusive relationship with Klaus for centuries
Rose
Needlessly murdered
Grams
Needlessly murdered
Lucy
Needlessly murdered
Isobel
Needlessly died
Andie
Raped by Damon
Had her consent and memories compelled away
was used as a pawn and needlessly killed by ripper!stefan
Vicki
Was turned just cus Damon was bored and wanted a plaything
he never explained anything to her or taught her how to be a vampire he just abandoned her so she went into maniac territory forcing Stefan to kill her
Davina
The entire situation involving her death. Enough said.
Like Bonnie and Caroline she’s a real punching bag character
Hayley
Created to basically be a plot device
http://dontbeallupinmyfriesdawg.tumblr.com/post/155398150610/mrslackles-orriculum-yknow-how-you-want-to
Became one big orgy of special snowflake syndrome and the Mary sue on TO
Her only purpose (and storyline thus far) has been to give birth to and raise the magical miracle baby
Camille
Well… you saw what happened to her.
basically just created to be Klaus’ moral pet
to tell him how wonderful he is
even when takin her dying breaths
had no agency
literally created as a love intrest and a love intrest only
Sybil
A riduculous, poorly written villan that was given zero thought
Cade
See Sybil’s bullet point
Gia
Died needlessly an intresting, funny poc female who became collateral damage instead of well rounded character
Keelin
Currently in a relationship with the woman who threatend, catured and enslaved her
Qetsiyah
Treated like shit by Silas
Was the third wheel in her own love story
Lexi Branson
Was murdered needlessly by Damon
Could have had a storyline outside being Stefan’s best friend
deserved better
Jenna Somers
Died needlessly
Nadia Petrova
Died Needlessly
Sarah Nelson
Didn’t desreve to get caught up in that whole Enzo/Stefan/Damon/Matt drama
Sarah’s mom
Was murdered spitefully by damon out of revenge
Anna
Needless murdered
Liv Parker
Was interesting and could have had a better more extensive storyline
was killed needlesly
Jo Parker
See Liv Parker’s bullet point
Penny Ares
Was killed needlessly
Nora Hildegard
Died needlessly
Mary Louise
Died needlessly
Emily Bennett
They could have presented her as something other than a slave
Sage
Was a cool character
Died needlessly
Sarah
Died for plot
Aimee Bradley
See Sarah’s bullet point
Carol Lockwood
Was murdered spiteully and horrifically by Klaus out of revenge
Had too many scenes in close proximity with damon
Monique
Okay she was trifiling but she didn’t have to die
Ayana Bennett
http://dontbeallupinmyfriesdawg.tumblr.com/post/156183084590/ayana-bennett-the-original-witch
Ivy
Was Stefan’s way of passing the time while he ignored Caroline and his problems and then died just cus
Greta Martin
Was Klaus’ groupie
died
Kimberly
Murdered along with her pack spitefully for the sake of revenge
Mindy
Died so ripper!stefan could make a point
Paige
died with her pack
Dana
Died cus Klaus was bored
Amara
Was a slave
Then a mistress
Lived in agony for thousands of years
Died
Liz Forbes
As said, was made to be friends with her daughter’s rapist. I just wanna reiterate that…
Sophie Deveraux
Died
Mary Porter
Died because of Kol’s paranoia
Do the tvd ladies have some badass-ish moments? Yes. But mostly they are used as plot devices or hangers on for the male hero, the are used and abused to progress the male character’s storyline. TVD and TO’s writing is embedded in misogyny (with the poc females getting it worse) and therefore so are most of the ships.

Hi can you do a sneak peak of 19 please? Thanks x
Number 19 is Tvd in New York chapter 5 it’s Christmas in New York and the gang decides to go to Vegas when they get back their parents are waiting for them plus the annual Mikaelson Christmas brunch
They walk out of the elevator into the Mikaelson penthouse still in their party clothes and tired they didn’t really have much sleep this weekend. Klaus is holding Caroline up and Stefan has an arm around Rebekah, Kol and Davina are holding hands.
When they step out Esther comes out of the living room and faces them “ There you are we have been waiting for you to get home.”
Mikael joins his wife and looks at the teens “ Anyone who doesn’t live here leave this penthouse immediately.”
Caroline looks up at klaus she knows his relationship with Mikael is damaged he nods and whispers in her ear “ I’ll call you later.”
They leave but Davina stays next to Kol. “That means you too Davina. You don’t live here.”
She looks up to Kol she’s been living here since they started dating only because it’s only her and the housekeeper Monique in the townhouse she was getting lonely so Kol invited her to stay with them.
Kol nods at her and whispers in her ear “ I’ll come by later and give you some clothes from your side of the closet.”
Davina nods and kisses his cheek.
Xxx
Caroline, Damon and Stefan enter their building and Caroline looks at her brothers “ if our parents are home mom is going to kill me for wearing this dress do you guys have a jacket I can borrow?”
Both brothers shake their heads no. Caroline’s dress is short and cleavage baring Caroline looks around the lobby and runs up to the front desk “ Vonya can I please borrow your jacket it’s an emergency?”
Vonya has been the doorman of their building since they were born he nods but before he hands it over he asks “Can you do something for me first?”
“I’m in a hurry but if it’s quick sure.”
“Ask Dorota why she keeps rejecting me everytime I ask her out?”
Caroline smiles at him “ I will certainly ask her can I have your jacket now I promise to return it.”
Vonya hands his jacket over. Caroline puts the jacket on over her dress and turns to her brothers “ Let’s go see what is in store for us.”
