This is David's Shadows House AU as I imagine it.

David is outgoing and a little flamboyant so he'd definitely have clothes that are a little more fancy than others. I love how the top of the sleeves are poofy and then fitted on the forearms. The ruffled coat tail attachment in the back was silly to me at first but then I was like "no actually, that's a really fun look." Tan and red would be the outfits colors primarily, taken from the tan Golden Dawn robe and the red cloak that David specifically had paired with his.

I feel so spoiled, and I'm not sure which ship to pick, honestly. 😅💖 I was going to go with Rillmy (my OTP of Black Clover), but I have gotten a few asks about them for this game, so I think I ought to go with a different relationship here (it's only fair to give the others a chance too even if Rillmy is my favorite 😁). I also considered writing some headcanons about my CC x OC ship, Henry Legolant x (my OC) Lorelei Swallow, but since I don't talk about my OCs a lot and I've only written about them a little bit so far, I didn't think they'd fall under the "any ship" umbrella category as intended. 😅 So instead, I decided to write some headcanons about a ship between only canon characters, David Swallow x Letoile Becquerel. I (secretly) really, really love them and I don't think I have ever talked about them before so I will gladly take this opportunity. 😂💖 Thank you so much again for that and for the ask!

Answers are below the cut because the post is a bit lengthy.

Ship Ask: David Swallow x Letoile Becquerel

27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?

In my mind, neither David nor Letoile are particularly big on verbal expressions of love. Neither of them are against it, but I think they would both prefer to express their love through their actions rather than with their words. For Letoile, words feel very cheap and very empty if they don't have actions to back them up, and I think David (for all of his bravado and big personality) actually feels kind of awkward about expressing his feelings with the words "I love you" (even if he does express love verbally in other ways through compliments and encouragement).

David expresses his love non-verbally with his time. No matter how busy he is, he always makes a point to carve out time for him and Letoile to spend together. He loves planning activities for them to do, spontaneous little trips, and fun experiences they can share. Letoile isn't usually the biggest fan of surprises, so they sometimes have to compromise on that (i.e. he tells her that he's going to take her somewhere for the weekend and enough about the place & the weather so she'll know what to pack even if he doesn't tell her exactly where they are going 😁). As a couple, I think they both value their independence so they don't do everything together, but it's really important to David to get to share a lot of things with Letoile and, at least in my mind, a big moment for him in realizing that he loves her, is him first realizing that he wants to share so much of his life and all of these experiences with her. He really does just want to be with her all the time (or at least most of the time).

Letoile expresses her love non-verbally through acts of service. David can be a little proud and not ask for help all that often, but she can tell when he's struggling and will offer to lend a hand, which he'll often take her up on. He actually told her he loved her for the first time in a sleep deprived daze and frazzled relief when she stepped in and "saved him" from scrambling over a mission report for Golden Dawn he had forgotten about. Eventually when they marry and have a family, they tend to split the housework equally, but Letoile will often quietly surprise David by taking care of some of his laundry or helping out with some of the chores he was supposed to do (especially if he is exceptionally busy or rundown). She is also fantastic at taking care of him when he's sick (though she doesn't baby him or allow him to baby himself 😅).

45. How do they support each other? How do they rely on each others support?

Despite being so different in personality and not always seeing eye to eye, I like to think that David and Letoile actually do have a lot of respect for each other and are very supportive of each other (even if they do occasionally argue). I think David's support is very loud and exuberant--kind of like a cheerleader, whereas Letoile's support is more quiet but steady like a support beam or firm foundation where David can "safely land" when he tries to reach for the stars.

In some of my headcanons for the future, I imagine that Letoile eventually becomes the Golden Dawn's Captain (or whatever the squad will be called by then), and no matter what happens to them (if they end up together or just stay friends) David is so incredibly proud or her and goes around talking her up to everyone. I think this is especially true in a world where they're married--he's just telling anyone who will even so much as pretend to listen: "My wife is the Captain of the Golden Dawn! She's amazing!" I think he is very openly supportive of her dreams and incredibly proud of her accomplishments. In my mind, Letoile really has this forever cheerleader in him, and he really thinks she is just incredible and wants everyone to know how amazing she is.

On her side, Letoile is much more quiet and reserved just by nature and personality, and in that way, I think her support is much more steady and calm. It's less flashy but it's steadfast. She is always in his corner, and he knows that he can always turn to for advice or support when he needs it. I think David has a lot of these more wild, big ideas, and his big plans can sometimes get away from him so the support he needs is often having someone there to help him reign back in a little bit so he doesn't bite off more than he can chew and also to help him with the more practical side of how he can make his dreams reality, and I think Letoile is very good at that and he appreciates that in her.

Overall, I like to think that because they're such good friends with each other, communication comes a bit easier for them and they can be more open about their struggles with each other (despite both being a bit proud and independent at times and really wanting to default to that "Well I can take care of it myself" mentality). I think they can really learn to lean on each other and will really stick by one another in particularly rough times in their lives. I mean, say what you will about Letoile and David but they're both pretty stubborn (in true Golden Dawn fashion, of course). That can be bad things sometimes, but I also think it can be a good thing sometimes too. No matter what happens, neither one of them is really going anywhere. When they choose to share their lives with each other, they're not going to change their minds. They will stubbornly stick together through thick and thin. They might disagree sometimes, but I think those disagreements will be over mostly inconsequential things (like what color to paint the living room walls), and in a time of real trouble, they will come together and work through it together, falling back on the deep, mutual respect they have for each other.

Yuno took a deep breath. He had just finished a mission and he was pretty tired. He was on his way back, the only thing keeping him from falling over was the thought of sleeping in his comfortable bed.

As he approached the base of the Golden Dawn he spotted Letoile, he got off his broom. “What’s got you in such a bad mood?” He asked in a tired tone. She shook her head trying to hide her irritation.

“It’s just David. I actually invited to hang out for ONCE since he’s always asking me, but he refused because he’d rather hang out with your boyfriend.” She explained, Yuno tilted his head in confusion.

“What?”

Her expression turned into an apologetic one. “Oh! I didn’t mean that in a bad way, there’s nothing wrong with Leo, I’m just saying that-“

“It’s not that…” Yuno interrupted her, reassuring her he had taken no offense. “So Leo and David are hanging out?” 

Letoile nodded, “Yeah, they left for the capital an hour ago.” Yuno nodded, his expression indecipherable. He silently stood there. So Leo was hanging out with David… again. Why though? It’s not like he and Leo made plans, and if Leo were waiting for him he would still be at the base. Leo only hung out with David once to kill time, right? Or… Did Leo come to the Golden Dawn just to hang out with David?

“I see…” Yuno mumbled. Maybe he shouldn’t jump to conclusions, after all, Leo was very in love with him and he loved him just the same. Still, that didn’t change this feeling of rage and jealousy from welling up inside him.

“I think you should probably get some rest after your report, you seem tired. Maybe Leopold and David will be back when you wake up…” 

Yuno nodded and waved at Letoile before turning to walk inside… Leo and David… Yuno didn’t like it. He fell asleep with the distasteful thoughts of Leo and David hanging out.

“Really? I’ll definitely keep note of that, no ever going to the beach or eating seafood then? Man, that’s rough, I feel bad for you… I’m glad I’m not allergic to seaweed.” Leopold pitied David, he just sighed.

“Yes, well it’s fine. I’m used to it, just because I’m allergic doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy viewing the waves of the ocean… Although why do that when I can just look at a mirror instead?” He smiled, Leo rolled his eyes and scoffed.

“You sound like Kirsch… You know, it’s strange. I swear Yuno told me Asta has the same allergy! Maybe it’s more of a common allergy than I thought.” Leopold went into thought. Yuno… Apparently he went on a mission today. He thought about coming over to hang out with him until he heard that, but he decided to go anyway to hang out with David. He and David got along more than expected, they had pleasant conversations. So Leo only went to the Golden Dawn to hang out with David… Or so he would like to think, but deep inside he knew he secretly wanted an excuse to stick around long enough for Yuno to return. However, David had an idea to go to the capital to pick up some jewelry or food. Anything to make them go out into the world.

Leo didn’t get much, in fact, he just got two things. It was a bracelet and a necklace. David insisted he got at least one thing, so he figured he’d get a gift for Yuno and Mimosa. He got the  necklace for Mimosa. It was a silver chain and attached to it was a flower charm. It looked like a diamond, and in the middle of it were a few smaller gems consisting of the colors green and orange. He thought she might like it.

The bracelet on the other hand, it had five charms attached to it, Leo thought about getting the gold chain, but David convinced him to get the silver instead since it would go better with practically anything. The charms in it were a Lion charm, a flame charm, a wind charm, a four leaf charm, and lastly a heart in the middle. It all seems too perfect and Leopold could’ve sworn David did something, there’s no other way he’d just happen to find something so perfect!

Leopold snapped out of his little trance when he saw he and David were already back at the Golden Dawn, already? 

They both walked in. Leopold looked around and spotted Mimosa, he ran over to her. “Hey Mimosa!” He greeted her, she turned away from Klaus and smiled.

“Hello Leo! Welcome back, did you have fun?” She asked him, he nodded and reached for something in his bag. 

“Mimosa, close your eyes and hold out your hands!” Leo told her, confused, she did as he said. He pulled out the necklace and placed it in her hand. She opened her eyes and smiled when she saw the necklace.

“Wow Leo! This is beautiful! Thank you so much!” 

“I thought you might like it. Just a little gift!” Mimosa put it on, it did look great. “Have you seen Yuno yet?” Leopold questioned, Mimosa nodded.

“Yeah, he came in a little bit ago… Although he seemed a little grumpy if you ask me, don’t tell him I said that though!” She nervously laughed, Leopold nodded. Yuno was grumpy? Sounded silly said out loud. Why though? Leopold got ready to make his way to Yuno’s room.

He knocked on the door, but nobody answered. Was Yuno not there? Leopold decided to go check his office instead. He opened the door and walked in, but Yuno wasn’t there either! He went further into the room, and in doing so, he glanced out of the window. His eyes widened when he saw Yuno and David, they seemed to be sparring. Leopold quickly rushed out as fast as he could so he could get a better look.

He watched as they attacked each other, however this was just a one-sided battle. David was losing by a lot. “Yuno, what are you doing?” Leopold shouted. Yuno glanced at him for a second.

“Nothing much, just training. I thought maybe I could spar with someone.” Yuno explained, although it wasn’t the best explanation.

“Against David? This is just a one-sided battle though. You’ll hardly get any stronger unless you face someone more on your level.” Leopold walked up to Yuno, David clearly took offense to that.

“Perhaps your right, beating David is just too easy for me.” Yuno stated, Leopold tilted his head. That was certainly a strange sentence for Yuno. Leopold was confused, it was almost as if Yuno was trying to-

Oh.

That’s when the realization set in for Leopold. Yuno was jealous. He started to laugh. “Why are you laughing?” Yuno asked, very confused.

“I’m sorry, it’s just- I never thought you’d get so jealous because of me!” He snickered, Yuno jerked his head more towards Leo.

“What!? Jealous? Why would I get jealous? You can hang out with whoever you want…” Yuno denied it.

“It’s alright Yuno! I think it’s cute!” Leopold smiled, Yuno blushed. Leo thought him being jealous was cute!? David sneaked away while Leo and Yuno bickered. “But there’s really no need.” He started.

“What?”

Leopold smiled. “I’m always going to love you Yuno, no one else! I’m always thinking about you, nobody else could take that place in my heart, like today!” Leopold reached into his bag and held the bracelet in front of Yuno. “I got you this! I really wanted to get you something, and I thought you would like this…” Leopold nervously looked away.

Yuno stared in shock for a second and took the bracelet. He looked at it and smiled before putting it on. “Thank you Leo, I love it.” Leo’s smile widened and his face turned more red. “I’m sorry for acting like such an idiot. I guess I just hate seeing you with other people more than I thought I would…” Yuno apologized.

“Don’t worry about it! I mean, you’ll have to apologize to David later, but-“

“No.”

“What?” Leopold muttered. Yuno shook his head and pouted.

“No.”

“What!? What do you mean ‘no’!? You can’t do that, you have to apolo-“ Yuno cut Leo off by pulling Leo into a kiss, Leo quickly gave up. They pulled away after a few seconds.

Leopold took a few steps back, his face completely red. He pointed accusingly at Yuno. “Y-you can’t do that!” He yelled.

“Why not?” Yuno asked, he knew exactly what he was doing.

“B-b-because!” Leopold stuttered. Jeez… Why was he acting like this? They’ve kissed before, why did he still get nervous like this sometimes? Guess Yuno’s just got a special talent for Leo.

“I’m sorry, you just looked so adorable I couldn’t resist.” After Yuno had said that Leopold stood there, speechless.

Sweet child... Tortured child. Fragile child. You have met me so many times you know me now. You have encountered my guile in every single one of your beloved ones.

But don't do that. Don't look for me. It will do you only bad, I assure you.

Like for example now, in this celebration. No, don't look for me in the crowd, among your good friends, your beloved friends. Don't nitpick with your eyes to meet mine.

No, don't choose the one that has my eyes. The eyes only you can distinguish. Eyes watered with the feeling of malice, but a hint of melancholy as well, the pity for all the wasted years in a place like the Underworld. Scars that close the more you are around. But please, don't choose the one with my eyes.

You choose him, and with audacity start to dance with him, forgetting his blond hair and angelic face, your friend's face. It's like you wear a pair of blinders and you see only me. You ignore the exclaims of your comrades that are full of question, it's like all of your senses are blurred, and your mind only focuses on me. How flattering.

But, no, do not dance with me, sweet young man, it is a dangerous path the one you decided to follow.

I can see the blond woman behind you getting very upset. You stole her crush, right? Oh, if only she knew for whom you are yearning actually! But, no, do not continue with this, you don't want trouble, you tidy young man.

"But why did he act like that?!"

"Ah, shut up, both of you! Something is not going well, just before I asked him if something was wrong and he looked at me with a mad grin, replied *nothing* and went to the bathroom holding his mouth and stomach..."

I listen to your friends talking, gossiping you. They don't know any better, am I right? I warn you for one last time, the humans are stupid, do not provoke them anymore.

They impulsively try to talk to you, ask you why you act all weird and out of character, but you are obsessed.

You keep on ignoring them, you eyes locked in mine, searching for the truth so bad. The one you were desperately trying to find all of these weeks. I drove you insane, I stole your sleep, I made you enclose yourself in a library as long as you had free time to spare, and today is the day you learned that I exist.

You finally understood my presence, yet, you still don't know what I am. I vibrantly remember your mad laughter, the sickness in your stomach because of all the shock, I was in the corner looking at you, enjoying your epiphany.

You are looking at me with a mad, pale face. Your expression looks empty, paused to the madness you came to experience. You ask me to get out. At first it's only your eyes that try to tell me, but soon you start to whisper.

"Why David. Get out of David and Don't wear a facade. I know who you are." Your discreet voice tickles David's ear and I feel it. I smile. I couldn't say anything more.

"Why won't you listen? You will now tell me why!" You suddenly become violent and demand from me to reveal myself.

"GET OUT OF HIM NOW. NOW. SHOW YOURSELF RIGHT NOW IN FRONT OF ME. I NEED TO FINALLY SEE YOU." You shake his body as if it had no live content in. You see the shock in his eyes that we share. He starts getting conscious.

You vaguely can hear everyone screaming at you, demanding explanations for your sudden behaviour. You ignore the well-built man that tried to pull you away from the blond boy, who faints on the floor.

Your face still sparks with madness and thirst for truth. Something I can't promise.

"Alecdora, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO DAVID?!" The girl ask you with tears in her eyes as she tries to help the young man find his consciousness. He seems so afraid. Everyone around is focusing you. You ignore them and your eyes fall on me again. I steal the appearance of the young Prince, the one you have no idea that is a prince. I start running and you go after me.

Many try to stop you but you just find small holes to slip in and escape. You are an agile young man.

We are finally alone in the garden at night, hidden in the trees where no one can find us. I'm sure they are checking on the boy's health to care about you at the moment.

I look at you with the face of your biggest rival, and you know that it is not him in control with the first glance. You come in my arms. You tremble and shake. You pant, and support yourself on my shoulders. You look me in the eye and ask me. "Who are you?! What... What do you want from me? Why all the lies? Explain yourself!"

"I tried to warn you. Be careful." These were my final words before I vanish and you get left with the kid.

"Wh- what happens?..." He asks you while holding his head, all dazed.

You put the facade of calmness and you convince him that he needed some fresh air. Then you walk back in and try to explain the unexplainable...

David is such a common name, I see a new David every single day. Today I’m researching Clara Barton and I learned that she had a brother named David who fell off a barn roof. Every time I hear the name David, there is only one person that comes to my mind. That being David Swallow from Black Clover (i think his last name is Swallow? It’s スワロー suwarō right? Though I’ve seen it spelled as スロワー surowā in the anime so i don’t really know) and now every time I think of Clara Barton’s brother falling off a roof, I think of that dumbass falling off one too lol.
