I don’t know what’s better. The idea that someone from the CATs is going to go looking for Hunter and wind up being jumped by a paranoid Hexside frantic to protect their token traumatized white boy, or the idea that the CATS run into Hexside by complete accident during the Day of Unity, both trying to fulfill their own plans in taking down Belos, and spider-man meme each other. Both have so much possibility. The fear. The confusion. The yelling over each other so they can try and figure everything out. Either option is the definition of chaos.
And Hunter is just sitting in the background without a single braincell knocking around in his head, taking twice as long to piece all of this together and realize that literally everyone else he cares about is not only safe, but also on the side of the rebels. What are the chances?

Fuck it y'all get an Owl House fic cause why not its the only thing I can find-
(Just to be clear this was something I had written with a specific person in mind, also (f/n) means fake name because why not)
(The specific person MIGHT have been me)
I Don' Have A Title For This One!
Character: Hunter x reader
Fic type: Drabble?
Fandom: The Owl House
---
I had just come from school and was still in my uniform, the red and yellow sleeves, and blue and cyan legs showing my enrollment in both the Bard track, Potions track, Illusions track, and Healing track.
I had walked into the palace, uniform in hand, and went to find a place to change, when I ran straight into the Golden Guard.
"What's a hexside student doing in the palace?" He had his hands on his hips, and I raised an eyebrow at him, mirroring his stance.
"Because I work here, duh. Thought you were smarter than that, Goldie." I smiled at him as he suddenly straightened up, head tilting down for a moment, before back up.
"(F/N)? Huh… I would say you're shorter than I thought you were, but that hasn't changed." I stick my tongue out at him, winking as I walk past.
"Don't think I didn't see you check me out, Goldie!" He sputters, trying to form a response, and I just laugh, blowing him a kiss when I turn the corner.
"I was NOT checking you out!"
"I didn't know you studied bard magic." Goldie remarked as he stood beside me, both in uniform. I shook my head, smiling slightly.
"And I didn't know you cared so much, Goldie." He sputters again, and if I could see his eyes I could almost guarantee that he'd be glaring at me.
"Yo, (F/N)! Shift change!" Steve yells from down the hall at you, coming to change positions with me.
"And that's my cue. Don't dream about how hot I am, Goldie!" I snicker, ducking to avoid his staff and then sprinting down the hall, waving goodbye to him and our friend Steve.
Luz had told me she met Goldie, and her and his adventure to save the palismen/spite Kikimori. I'd DEFINITELY be hearing about this tonight from him.
"He's a bad…. But sad boy." Luz remarked sadly, she seemed upset that she couldn't make friends with him.
"Yeah, no, that fits the description, you did definitely meet Goldie. It took me months to be friends with him, and I mostly just annoy him, so don't worry about it too much, Luz."
"Darius!" Caleb teleported in front of the Head Witch, and Gus' illusion dropped once he was distracted. Caleb was wearing a familiar uniform… and now I realized why his voice was so familiar.
He was Goldie. This scrawny kid with messy blond hair, red violet eyes, a cute hooked nose, and an adorable gap tooth, this was my Goldie. May Titan have mercy on my soul.
"Wait!" As Darius cornered us on the beach, Caleb jumped in front of us, arms spread wide as if to protect us.
"Out of my way, little prince." Darius glares, but Caleb stands still, determined.
"No! I was mistaken. These five are insolent agitators who aren't fit for the Emperor's Coven. And we don't need another egotistical bard" He glances back at me, and there's a sadness in his eyes. "And I'm unfit to wear the sigil of the Golden Guard."
Caleb takes off his cloak and drops it to the ground. He then turns towards Willow, not making eye contact.
"You can go." His voice seems to betray him, cracking slightly.
Willow raises her staff, barely containing her tears. I've never seen her this angry and upset before.
"Please, Captain." Caleb pleads, and Darius looks unimpressed from behind him. Willow lowers her staff, a small smile on her face.
"Let's move, team. We need to find a replacement." She turns away, starting to leave. "After all, it'll be 52 weeks before Caleb's next day off."
Caleb seems to brighten immediately, and I can't help but linger behind, wanting to be around him more, but Darius hasn't recognized me yet, and I don't want to be around when he does.
"Bye, Caleb. You were really cool today." I run off after my friends, hoping the dark hid how pink my face was.
"So uh…. You're blond?" I cleared my throat, and he nodded awkwardly from beside me, eyes avoiding my own, as we were both unmasked.
"Yep… How's the team doing?" He was watching me out of the corner of his eyes, I could see it, and I tried not to freak out.
"Uh… good? Yeah, they're good. Viney and Skara are, at least." I gulp slightly, wanting this awkwardness between us both to end.
"Ah, yeah… I guess you do have class with them." He raises an arm to scratch the back of his neck, the tips of his ears going pink.
"Also… my name is Hunter." He rolled his eyes as he leans against the wall to my right, avoiding my gaze with pink tipped ears.
"I prefer Goldie!" I beam at him, and his face goes more pink, smiling slightly, but I know there's insecurity behind it.
"But… have a good evening… Hunter." His name felt odd in my mouth, and I missed how the rest of his face went red as I quickly walked away.
"That human called you (Y/N)." Hunter commented as we chased after Luz, crashing through the night market.
"Yeah, and? Its my- oh shit wait a minute-" I cursed, not remembering the whole fake name thing, and he looked over at me for a moment.
"(F/N) is a fake name?" He doesn't seem surprised, more like… offended. After all, he told me HIS name, and I'd been lying this whole time?
".... If I say yes will I get fired?" I tried to sound apologetic, and he just shook his head, smiling slightly.
"If you don't talk about the Caleb fiasco, I'll keep this secret… (Y/N)." I tried to ignore the butterflies in my stomach when he said my name, and it worked when we crashed into the centre of a spell circle, Luz tackling the both of us.
"You do not get to hurt him." I growled at the inner Belos, holding my own staff in front of me and Hunter.
"Hm. Such a shame you don't get to make that decision." The ground fell away beneath us, me falling faster than Hunter, who tried to grab me, but only got my staff.
"Hunter, let go! Luz can still save you!" I growl, trying to get him to safety, but he shook his head, still trying to grab for Eda's jacket.
"No!" I shook my head, turning my palisman back into a raven, and we both fell into another memory.
"Thank you… (Y/N)." His voice is quiet as he sits next to me, arms wrapped around my waist and head on my shoulder.
"Of course… Hunter." I replied just as quietly, and we just sat like that, calming him down until eventually he fell asleep on me.
—
"Hunter!" I shouted, sprinting down the steps of the school. His red violet eyes meet mine, and the fear on his face calms quickly as he runs towards me as well.
"(Y/N)!" I'm crying now, only a little, and I almost tackle him in a hug, but he spins me around before putting me down, holding me at arms length for a moment.
"Are you alright? Where were you? What happened?" His eyes almost seemed to frantically scan me for injuries, but I shake my head.
"I'm fine, I was just locked in a closet for a bit by a scout, I think it was Steve actually, but I just stayed out of the action for a bit until I saw Gus' illusion drop! What about you, are you okay?" My tears had slowed down but I was still stressed and worried about my friend, and I lifted my hand to gently caress a scratch on his face.
He nods as the tips of his ears go pink, and we both stand there for a moment, before I surge forward to kiss him briefly, pulling back with an almost glowing red face.
Hunter is just as red as I am, but he pulls me into a tight hug, both of our hearts beating out of our chests.
"Sorry…" I whisper, but he holds me tighter, seemingly struggling to breathe.
"Marry me?" He coughs out, and I look up at him, we're both bright red.
"Maybe we go on a date first." He nods, looking away from me, and I stand on my tip toes to kiss the scar on his cheek.
"Someday though, I will. You better still want to by then." I beam at him, and he's the one that kisses me this time, an arm wrapped around my waist and a hand on my cheek.
"I KNEW YOU TWO LIKED EACHOTHER!" Luz yells, chasing me around the yard back at the Owl House.
"Luz, if you say another word, I will join Ed and Em in annoying you and Amity. And I will tell them about the whole 'Cotton Candy Goddess' nickname, and you two will never hear the end of it."
I threaten, running away from who was essentially my younger sister.
"You're evil." She stops in her tracks, shaking her head in disappointment.
"Oh yeah, I'm evil, hun." I wink at her, walking inside only to get the SAME conversation from Eda.
