BFB AU - Willow
Tumblr media
BFB AU | BFB!Hunter
Yall thought I was done with this au?? Not even close :D so heres more headcanons, this time of BFB!Willow:
You probably think Willow has more things on her mind than boys.
And you’d be right. Boys are the last thing on her mind.
It’s the start of her first year of high school and already she’s dreading it, having been registered for a track she couldn’t care less about. And as days turn to weeks, she feels like she’s suffocating, watching her peers in the same track excel while she struggles to even meet the standards. It hurts, and her self-confidence withers.
She’s really just Half-Wit Willow, isn’t she.
But then the science fair is announced, and that’s when she panics.
Everyone in Hexside’s STEM magnets is participating, probably doing detailed presentations on the latest technological advances, demonstrating their knowledge with beakers and flasks, or showcasing their senior projects to their professors. And what does she have to show for her first semester?? Nothing.
There’s the familiar steady clack of boots coming up behind her, and she refuses to meet her eyes as Amity strides past her like she doesn’t exist. The only indication she notices her: a scoff at Willow’s empty, project-less hands. She can practically hear Amity’s snide comment, Seriously? Not even a a half-assed trifold display board with googled information??
She wants to cry. She’s going to cry. Tears build at the corner of her eyes, but she purses her lips and restrains herself, pink cheeks puffing up from the effort. No crying. No Weeping Willow today.
Then she feels a hand on her shoulder, gentle and kind, and Willow tenses, whirling around, and for a second she thinks Amity turned back to comfort her.
Of course not.
It’s the new girl.
Luz, she recalls. They’ve haven’t talked yet; she transferred late into the semester, something about moving complications, and by then everyone had already formed their cliques, old and new.
But after she calms down, Luz asks if they can partner up for the science fair, brightly yet meekly offering her assistance, and she’s desperate, tired of being Half-Wit Willow or Weeping Willow. Tired of coming in dead last to her classmates. And here’s this stranger offering their help, and the only way to get into Hexside is you have to be good, may it be at everything or one thing.
So she accepts, needing the extra mind and hands. Hunkered down in the school library, the next two weeks are filled with stress and anxiety and the most fun she’s ever had at school. Willow was terrified that this cheery, optimistic girl was too good to be true. That Luz would realize that Willow is the worst of her class and abandon her for another group. Luz is so friendly, she could if she wanted. Yet she doesn’t, supporting Willow as they bounce off ideas and bring Willow’s vision to life. At some point, she introduces Gus to Luz, and he’ll drop by as they work for moral support.
On the day of the fair, they get a ribbon on their project on self-sustaining ecosystems, complete with a beautiful glass terrarium brought to you by Willow, and it’s so impressive Principal Bump offers her to immediately switch tracks.
Though their deal was a matter of convenience, it’s the start of a beautiful, life-long friendship.
Willow is so excited to switch tracks she starts wearing green leggings to match the uniform green neck tie for the rest of the semester.
Having come to her senses, she drops the leggings and opts for high sock or tights by the next semester.
Now, she knows Luz has a brother. She knows, but it’s not something that just comes up in conversation. All she does know is that he’s a grade above them and he’s super smart, according to Luz.
Unknowingly, she’s caught glimpses of him out in the halls, and Willow immediately sours, seeing Hunter amicably chatting with the Blight twins. Oh. He’s friends with Amity’s siblings. Any chance of befriending the new kid (her best friend’s brother) flies out the window.
Until that day, the first time she went to Luz and Hunter’s house.
Now she wants to talk to her new friend!! To the boy who doesn’t belong to one track because he loves knowledge too much to specialize in one thing. To the boy who will listen to her babble about her plants like they’re people without complaint. To the boy with the slightly hooked nose, tooth gap, cool piercings, and dark circles under his eyes. To Hunter. Even if they don’t have a lot in common.
Like her dads, Willow is also a fan of roller derby, and while it’s not as popular as rugby in Bonesborough, she decides she start her own team second semester.
Soft and round as she looks, she’s a lot stronger than most of her classmates, a result of her training to be a competent roller derby captain. A combination of weightlifting and running, she’s got the strength and stamina to lead her team!
(Hunter runs the same trails as her. Coincidence??)
But on the day of their first game, which will determine if the school will fund their team or not, her team is down one player.
Luz, who came to support her and Hexside, shoves Hunter (who came after hearing Willow is going to be there) towards her and volunteers him, to his mortification.
Well, at least they have more to talk about.

Also, another prompt to liven up the inbox- Hexside meets April Fool’s. On a scale of one to Collector, how chaotic would it get?
It’s a perfectly calm, normal day. Absolutely nothing happens, and everything proceeds as normal.
Yeah I could barely write that with a straight face.
•Luz introduces the concept of April Fools to her Hexside friends the day before, talking about how she adores pulling little pranks on her friends this fine day! Though she uh… didn’t have friends in the Human Realm… BUT now she has them at Hexside! So she lets Amity, Willow, Gus, Hunter, Viney, and Skara in on the day. She tries to get them to keep it a secret between them. The only issue is, just as she’s saying that, the Twins walk by, eavesdropping.
PRANKSTERS
•LUZ: With Eda’s help, Luz creates a sneezing potion in vapor form, which she releases into the schools ventilation, causing several sneezing fits.
•SKARA: Skara breaks into the schools announcement room through a vent and, barring the door, sets up the speakers to play nothing but a playlist of annoying old human music Luz showed her. Sneaking away through the vent, she hums ‘Macarena’ to herself as it begins to flood the school halls.
•GUS: Gus uses his Illusion magic to create a giraffe outside the school. Everyone in the school is terrified until it vanishes, which still leaves an air of unease considering a well known fact about giraffes is that they can teleport.
•WILLOW: Willow runs into several classrooms yelling about an invasion of Witch-Eating Roses in the halls, causing mass hysteria in all classes. Except the Plant Track. Because ‘Witch-Eating Roses’ are actually a completely docile species that just walk around on their roots and find a place to look pretty. Several roses enter many classrooms, and while many students try to make a run for it, the roses just find teacher desks and comfily place roots on them, becoming nice little decorations for the rest of the semester (though not without some students constantly glancing at the flowers in fear). One of said flowers, btw, may or may not make its way to a certain Bard cutie Willow at this point may or may not have a massive crush on.
•THE TROUBLEMAKERS: Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus don’t pull one huge prank, but instead use the Secret Room of Shortcuts to pull several tiny pranks on some of the jerkier students in the school. They use all the nooks and crannies they can to do things like move objects when the person isn’t looking, tap them on the shoulder before disappearing, and making scary voices to trick students they’re haunted.
THE PRANKED
•HUNTER: It’s less that Hunter is pranked so much that he’s incapable of understanding what a prank is. He tries to pull pranks on his friends, but they usually boil down to doing something nice for them before yelling ‘APRIL FOOLS’ and running off.
•AMITY: Amity, already prank averse, is now terrified that her twins are going to pull some sort of massive prank, and wants to know what it could possibly be. Even if they both performed an Everlasting Oath to never pull anything on Amity again, this is a holiday LITERALLY dedicated to doing just that, and she’s worried as heck! She spends the entire night keeping an eye on the Twins, studying them even in sleep to be sure they aren’t telepathically planning something. By the next day, she’s a tired Amity, barely able to keep her eyes open and constantly resting her shoulder on Luz for support.
•BOSCHA: Boscha did not learn about April Fools and spends the entire day being the victim of a Greta many of the others pranks, growing more and more paranoid until a tap on her shoulder from no one cause’s her to run out of the school.
THE TWINS
•Everyone who knows about April Fools waits with baited breath, nervously excited to see what prank Ed and Em may come up with. After all, they’re the best pranksters in the school! They HAVE to have something, right? Something big and wild and insane, potentially even letting everyone else leave the day early?
•As the days end nears, though, the Twins don’t lay claim to any of the pranks. People ask them what they did, and both Blight’s just say they didn’t do anything. Finally, Amity snaps, and demands to know what the two did, much to their shock. Both Ed and Em are indignant, giving long speeches about their efforts to change and evolve from their mischievous pasts, and how they no longer wish to be associated with pranking, but with their efforts to help people now. Amity, stunned, apologizes for her assumptions, but both her siblings forgive her, and the three hug it out.
•Right before midnight the Twins use Alador and Amity’s Abomination goo to flood the entire school, fistbumping and congratulating themselves for being able to trick their friends into thinking they’d let anyone else take on the title of the best pranksters at Hexside.

And now this guy’s here! Can’t go an entire episode without showing off YOUR favorite character.
(yes you, you know who you are)
Tumblr media
Turns out the Emperor caught wind of the Blights’ little private sale and is not too pleased with them essentially providing the people with a private army.
I think I mentioned last season that Belos was clever in the sense that he knows how to stay in power without having to resort to shows of force. He was willing to let Eda & Gang escape from the petrification ceremony if it meant the citizens of the Isles stayed complacent. He even managed to spin a story about how it was all the will of the Titan.
This too is a clever move. Removing a large company, banning their products, or imprisoning its owners might cause a ruckus. But buying up their product and even hiring them to further develop it in the name of the Empire’s glory? Some potential customers might be a bit miffed, but they are less likely to start whispering dangerous lies about their wise and merciful leader…
Tumblr media
Random note, but I kinda miss the old outro, I think I liked it better.
Anyways, that was Episode 2! I very much enjoyed it. The reveal of the Blight parents, the return of Willow, Gus & Amity and some juicy lore around the glyphs were the obvious highlights. It even had some nice action in the second half and you know I like me some action.
As per usual, I rewatched the episode in one go and here are some things I either missed or forgot to mention:
•Momma Blight uses the Mittens nickname. Either she came up with it, or Alador, or the twins did and it just stuck.
•Amity was keeping a photo of her new friends with her during the presentation and it’s making me feel a little soft on the inside, all squishy in my guts. It’s either that or the banoffee pie I ate earlier.
•After Amity easily destroyed the first Abomaton at the start of the episode, Momma Blight hurriedly announces a second presentation next week. As it turns out, they did hold a second presentation, presumably next week.
•There’s a sign in the Park’s residence saying ”Home Teeth Home.” Is it just a pun, or clever foreshadowing that one or both of Willow’s dads are dentists? Time will tell!
•Luz is starting to blush back at Amity. The mutual attraction is growing! Finally! Don’t get me wrong, hilariously oblivious Luz is hilarious, but it can get a it old after a while.
•I spotted Alador’s Abomination Coven brand on his wrist. In the scene where he calms down Odalia after the presentation ended. Just as he takes this hands off her shoulders you can spot it, for split second.
If I had one complaint about this episode, it’d be that Willow & Gus really didn’t contribute much. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and it was good to see them again. But imagine for a moment that Amity didn’t go get them before running off to save Luz. What changes? Nothing. They did nothing to help save Luz. They didn’t even help get past the guards, Ed & Em did that. Again, this is a minor complaint, I just think it’d’ve been nice to see them do something.
The Blights, the Blights… what to make of you?
The impression I get from this episode was this: Odalia is an overly controlling mother. She is obsessed with her family’s status and riches and will push her children (or mostly Amity) to be the best… even if it ends up hurting them. Alador is a bit harder to pin down. He mostly appears to be very apathetic to everything going on around him. In the end, he does end up convincing his wife to let Luz, Willow & Gus back in Hexside; he even snaps at her, though only for a brief moment. He then calmly reasons with her and plays to her desires. I get the sense he avoids conflict… even when he shouldn’t.
I want to briefly mention the twins. It is implied in earlier episodes that they get away with more stuff than Amity. This makes me think that Odalia was unable to control them and they turned out to be trouble makers, which is why she exercises more control over Amity, to make sure her potential isn’t squandered.
There is probably more I could say about the Blight parents, more speculation and theories, but I think I’m gonna end it here. I get the feeling they and their relationship with Amity is gonna be important in future episodes, so we’ll save some juice for then.
If you excuse me, now I gotta go and read up on medieval siege engines and boulevards. Until next time, take care of the planet Earth and remember that anything can happen in space!

Title:TRUE FRIENDS
So I imagined a comic about the first days on earth for young witches
(and yes, I also drew what I'm going to write here today, only that it will be here with more context, I won't put you directly in the story as I did with the comic)
anyway ..... Enjoy! and if you want to post the comic made by me here write me in the comments
it was a hard day for the 4, they were all demoralized and sad and confused and quarreling almost every day. They were all morally down with injuries and longing for home and their families did not know if they were still alive or not. But the most demoralized of all was Luz, who had simply isolated herself from everyone, and not a day went by that she didn't try to find a way to return to the Demon rulm after King and Eda and give the collector a lesson bc he taken King by her side, her only part of the family that really understood and accepted her as she was without trying to change her.
It was as stressful an afternoon as the others when Gus and Vee came into the living room with an announcement.
Ok guys these days have been stressful with a lot of quarrels but I have a perfect idea where we could go to relieve ourselves ... AT THE ZOO! * said Gus excitedly *
Plus I could show you all sorts of fascinating animals from the human realm * said Vee quite timidly *
Yes Gus is right these days have been a war! * said Willow * I want to come!
I don't know what to say ... I didn't come here for a vacation! we need to find a way back before we have anything to return to! * Hunter said completely unconvinced by the proposal to Gus *
I say it's a good idea we need something to distract us * said Amity *
4 against 1 sorry friend * Gus told Hunter and Hunter sighed accepting defeat *
ok then ... but without fun it's just to distract us in the educational sense!
"Sure, man, as you say," said Amity, rolling her eyes
What ? I'm the only one who really cares that maybe the Boiling Islands may no longer exist because of ONE CHILD ?! * Hunter said completely nervously *
Oh, what do you care, Mr. Golden Boy? * said Amity angrily *
DON'T CALL ME LIKE THAT! * Hunter said preparing the palisade *
STOP! * and just then a vine appears and takes them both up *
We are all worried about our families and our home and yes we are all going through a difficult time but that does not mean we do not deserve to have fun! What about Luz? I haven't seen her leave her room in a few days! oppressive with the behavior of a 2-year-old witch and revengeful in nature! * Willow screams *
Ok FINE! I'm s-s-s-so-sorry bilght * said Hunter not liking at all *
me too, said Amity ironically but diplomatically *
* Willow puts them both down and said *
ok now that we've clarified this we need to disguise how Luz's mother is at work we can go and ask her and maybe bring her some food I haven't seen her come to dinner in the last few days * Willow put a little worried *
I think she's sick! if he caught any human virus? IF IT'S RAINING? NOOOOwe can LOSE HER! *Gus had said in a panic*
WHAT? *Amity asked tensely*
CALM DOWN ! It's not from the rain or any human disease, it's from what happened that she cared a lot about that dog and the Owl lady * said Hunter somewhat sorry *
And why anyoane didn't go and talk to her these days? * ask vee *
She locked the door * said sad Amity *
"Well, it's time to unlock it," said Willow, stepping back.
woah Willow we don't want to break down the door! What will Mrs. Noceda say? * said Amity in a panic *
What the? i don't want to break down the door before it happened i discovered a new skill with my vines i can open the locks
Cool! * said Gus *
I don't think we should just rush into her room, I mean ... maybe we should give her some time- * but just then she's interrupted by the sound of the wrists opening *
* Willow knocks on the door and enters *
Luz * the room was dark with very little light from the window. A shadow could be seen on the window, leaning over something and paper everywhere *
L-Luz? Willow asked again, and a shadow returned. Her hair in all directions could be seen and her eyes shone in the dim light of the curtains and blinds.
Luz we want to talk to you * said Willow cautiously * * then the shadow rises and approaches her and she goes out the door with everyone else behind her *
Are you okay? * asked Amity with a knot in her throat *
* Luz approaches them until they come to light *
Yup ALL GOOD * she put on a forced smile *
* She doesn't looked okay. She has , pale face, extremely large bags under the eyes, ruffled hair, and She looked the same as it came *
Luz, are you sure you're okay?
* Ask Willow *
Yes yes I'm ok now what do you want? * said Luz harshly *
We want to see if you're okay * said Amity *
and help us with some human clothes * said Gus *
GUS! * said Amity *
that's all? * Luz asked irritably *
Well, no, we really want to go to this thing called the Zoo and we want you to come with us.
Look, I'm helping you with human clothes and the zoo, am I going to think about that ok? * Luz said without any joy in her voice *
that's great! * Says Gus excitedly *
* after helping her friends find some clothes, Luz was about to enter her room when *
Luz!
what ?
you are not coming? * asked Amity sadly *
Look, I have things to do, maybe another time
* gas sighs * Guys, you know what to do
Why are you looking at me like that? G-Guys? NO- What do you-
* Amity Willow Gus and Hunter had managed to lift her up and tied her upside down to a Willow vine *
YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT, YOU KNOW?
Definitely * said Gus *
you lost your mind * said Hunter *
that's better for you * said Willow *
Amity? * Luz said with a little hope in her voice *
sorry but I agree with them
OH COME ON!

Might you have any Raeda headcanons you'd be willing to share?
Oh shit I didn’t see that you sent this to me until now oh man.
But you better believe I’ve got some Raeda headcanons >:D
[Spoilers for Eda’s Requiem and Knock Knock Knockin on Hooty’s Door! Also a little bit of a character study regarding those eps lol]
Raine is constantly in awe of Eda. Eda’s desire to learn every kind of magic and buck tradition and societal norms sometimes leaves them breathless. When they were young, Raine always admired Eda for the clever pranks she’d pull using different kinds of magic despite being in the potions track. They also admired Eda’s boldness when it came to standing up for herself and her sister.
Eda found Raine to be interesting considering they were in the bard track despite their stage fright, but once Eda watched them perform and saw how they’d lose themself in the music was, no pun intended, magical. They had a fierce grip on Eda’s heart and she didn’t know why; she was fascinated by Raine and made it her goal to be best friends with this oddly shy bard (which she achieved pretty quickly).
After Eda’s curse caused her to unintentionally disable her dad, she was terrified of what it would mean if she was caught off guard like that again. So she started putting up walls. No stressful situations, no hard conversations, no sudden bright lights or loud sounds that she wasn’t the cause of. If she could be in control of her surroundings, she could control the Owl Beast. The elixir she’d discovered that could keep the curse’s side effects at bay helped maintain her sanity and her chill demeanor, but Raine was able to tell she was always slightly on edge. Raine knew about the curse; after Eda had transformed on the Grudgby field the first time everyone had been talking about it, but they didn’t know the extent of it. Everyone just said she’d turned into a monster and then fled; but what kind of monster?? But every time Raine tried to get more information about it, Eda would brush it off and change the subject. It broke their heart watching Eda brush off something that was clearly bothering her, and eventually it all came to a head. She was lying more and more often to Raine and they just couldn’t take it anymore. What happened to their best friend??? Why would she lie to them????? It was maddening and all the frustration and aching in their heart became too much. They needed to focus on something other than Eda. They weren’t nearly as bold as Eda, even after all these years, so they joined the Bard Coven in order to start teaching and building a career for themself. They’d happily welcome Eda back if she’d just tell them what was going on. But it never happened. Burying themself into their work and then, eventually, into the BAtTs helped keep the heartache at bay, but only sometimes.
Eda and Raine caught glimpses of each other as the years passed. They’d spot one another in the market or Raine would see a flash of unmistakable ginger hair dashing around a corner; sometimes they’d hear Eda yelling at some Coven guards and quietly hope she’d make her escape. Eda would occasionally see posters advertising a performance starring Raine; she’d either buy a ticket or sneak in just to listen to them play again. She could never stay for very long though because listening to them play made her heart hurt so much she’d be at risk of turning into the Owl Beast. Raine grabbed one of Eda’s wanted posters and keeps it hidden under some other paperwork in their desk, pulling it out sometimes and going over every detail of the artist’s rendition of her. One day, a new wanted poster came out - this one with a weird skull dog now part of the image and the bounty having increased significantly. Raine would always smirk whenever they saw the new version, although they were alarmed the first time they saw her drawn with all-grey hair. When had that happened? They weren’t that old yet, right??
The day Eda saved the BAtTs and figured out Raine’s secret was maybe the best day Raine had had in years. Their best friend was talking to them again, helping them with their plot. Raine didn’t bother pushing Eda about the last 20 years; their last conversation proved enough that Eda didn’t like it when people pried. But Eda had become not just older, but so much more kind and open. To a degree that sort of shocked Raine. When they asked Eda if she had nothing to lose and Eda took their hand, it was like they’d gone back in time. As if they were both 20 again and daydreaming about a world they’d create for themselves where covens weren’t there to shackle witches down and stage fright didn’t exist; where Eda’s curse never happened and they could stay there on that hill forever.
Eda of course was warring with her own emotions during all of this; she was under the impression that everyone in her life was leaving her again. And not because she was pushing them away this time, but of their own volition. She got her big sister back only for her to go back home to their parents after just a few weeks. She overheard King talk about leaving to find his dad and her apprentice - the first person to ever break down all of Eda’s defenses and show her how to love again - was constantly working on ways to go back to her own home. Eda would be left with Hooty and Owlbert and absolutely nobody else and that hurt so much more than she cared to admit. So when Raine showed up in the town square with their BAtT mask on, using their magic to turn some coven guards into bumbling fools, Eda was a little shell-shocked. The first person to leave her of their own volition was right there in front of her and needed help. So she helped them. And when she became invested in their plots to free wild witches, she felt like she was a teenager again, plotting out pranks with Raine in her secret shortcuts room at Hexside, blushing at every interaction they had because even after all this time, Raine was still Raine. Her Rainstorm. It was like she was starting over, like the last 20 years had faded away, except they hadn’t. Because Luz and King were competing in a race that she needed to be there for. Her past and her present were all different types of painful but finding Raine like this again gave her so much hope! Until she realized she wouldn’t see the end of that race, not if it meant stopping Belos. And she was ready for that, ready for the pain to just stop already, but Raine wouldn’t let her.
Losing Raine again was so much worse the second time. But what they said stayed with her and Eda needed to get back to King and Luz. So when she got back and discovered they’d lost, of course her first thought was to help them. Anything to take her mind off of what she’d just lost. And when King announced that he wasn’t leaving at all, he was legally changing his name? She was “stuck” with him forever? That was too much and she just couldn’t hold it in anymore. Someone wasn’t leaving her. In fact he was legally binding himself to her. No one was leaving, at least not any time soon. Eda definitely still cried more that night after King and Luz had gone to bed.
In the future, Eda and Raine agree to start from scratch: Eda explains the curse to them in detail, all the things she’s learned about it over the years and specifically with Luz and King and Hooty’s help. She explains that Lilith was the one that gave it to her to begin with and why (Raine is appalled like???? Raine specifically worked with Lilith in that last year before they had been made head of the Bard Coven?? And Lilith showed maybe irritation at best at the mention of Eda, so like?? What the fuck???). Eda also explains how she’s come to accept the curse as something that’s part of her and the history the Owl Beast has that she got a glimpse of which is super intriguing to Raine. Also Harpy Eda was a thing which was maybe the most surprising part of it all.
Raine in the meantime tells Eda about their time working their way up the ranks of the Bard Coven, how they met each of the BAtTs and recruited them, the façade they had to maintain to stay on track to become the head of the Bard Coven (something that greatly impressed Eda given Raine’s history with being an awkward actor).
Eda introduces Raine to Luz and King to which both of them start shooting rapidfire questions at them and overwhelm them pretty quickly. Eda has to shoo the two away before Raine just bursts out laughing, saying something about how they’re definitely Eda’s kids (all of them blush while Raine is laughing). Luz is just as fascinated with Raine’s Bard magic as Eda was when they first met and the similarities between the two are striking. Raine tells Eda as much later on and Eda begins gushing about what a great apprentice Luz is and everything she’s done during her time on the Boiling Isles.
They fall easily back into dating once they reconnect properly and everything’s calmed down a little - Raine will still be humming a piece they’re working on and suddenly grab Eda and begin dancing to the tune, Eda laughing the whole time and making their heart soar. Eda will still play with Raine’s earring when they’re cuddled up together just chatting. Raine will start asking Eda again for her opinion on musical pieces they’re working on and Eda will make suggestions along with some jokes or snide commentary. They both still love watching the clouds overhead on their hill, sometimes playing music, sometimes just holding hands.
Raine loves watching Eda interact with Luz and King. They love watching how easily Eda loves them and how much she’s changed since they first broke up. Once they’re alone together, in a moment total admiration for how far they’ve come, Raine tells Eda they love her. Eda immediately kisses them and starts crying, repeating Raine’s words back to them and mumbling about how she’ll never let Raine leave ever again.
A canon Non-binary love interest to a main character that uses They/Them pronouns??? In my kids cartoon???? It’s more likely than you think.
Anyways I fucking love Raine and I love how much Eda and Raine love each other and I can’t wait to see what ends up happening with Them™️

A New Perspective: Owl House AU Story Part 2
Hello all, this is the second part of the collaboration between myself and the talented Flamestar50, give em a hand folks!! To note, I’ve cleaned up and proofread the work they provided, but this is definitely the result of Flame’s hard work and skill. Everybody Clap Your Hands!!!
Eda and Luz stood stunned at the group of people that had managed to crush Lilith.
“Stay back Luz,” Eda warned, but as Luz continued to approach the group, Eda rolled her eyes at the brush-off to her warning.
“Oh god what the hell happened.” One of the people groaned.
“Are you guys okay?” Luz said, leaning closer to the group. As she took in the appearance of them, her eyes widened. “Gus, Willow, Amity? What are you guys doing here? And who are these other people? She asked, gazing at the unfamiliar faces. Suddenly, another face in the pile caught her attention. Wait, that couldn’t be, i-it was-
“IMPOSTOR!!!” Luz yelled, pointing a finger at, well, herself.
“Who are you!?” The impostor Luz yelled back.
“I’m you! Wait, no, I’m me, and you’re PRETENDING to be me. What are you doing, pretending to be me with my friends you, you POSER!” Luz spat.
“I’m not the poser, you are!!” The “impostor” spat back.
“Um, someone better explain what’s going on here, and soon,” Eda asked, completely ignoring Lilith’s muffled protests and complaints over being sat on.
“Alright, there’s only one way to see who the real Luz is!” King announced from the floor. “What is Luz’s favorite... BOOK SERIES!”
“The Good Witch Azura.” Both Luz’s answered confidently, and in perfect sync to boot.
“Okay, this is gonna be tougher than I thought.” King sighed.
“Um, hello.” A soft voice called from the door. All faces turned to it, and saw Amity entering the house, Gus and Willow following closely behind.
“Hi Luz, I came over hear for the study session, and- Oh my Titan...” Amity gasped as she saw a group of familiar and unfamiliar faces sprawled across the floor, and two Luz’s aggressively pointing at one another.
“OH MY GOD THERE’S AN IMPOSTOR AMITY TOO!?” Luz gasped. “How will I know who the real Amity is?”
“What are you doing to my Luz?” Amity glared at her second self.
“I didn’t do anything! It was your Luz who brought us here!” The other Amity shot back.
“*GASP*! Luz! Are you trying to make clones of me!?” Amity whirled towards Luz, a blush blooming across her face.
“What? NO, of course not, at least, I don’t think so... Wait, did I just clone everyone!?” Luz gasped.
“I’M A CLONE!?” “Impostor” Gus shrieked.
“Wait, if you all are clones, than who are you?” Luz asked, pointing to the scary older girl glowering at them beneath her beanie, a metal bat slung over her shoulder.
“What do you mean, that’s my, I mean your, actually our older sister, Victoria.” Alter Luz said, sidling up closer to Luz, a look of slight confusion on her face.
But, I don’t have a sister.” Luz stated.
“Yes you do, you have two.” Alter Luz countered.
“No, I’m an only child.” The two stared in blatant bewilderment at each other, before they started screaming in confusion, provoking a commotion of panicked yelling among the groups.
“Um, shouldn’t you do something?” King asked, looking up towards Eda, who was currently sipping her Apple Blood, snickering at the scene before her.
“Nah, this is kinda entertaining.” She snorted.
“EDALYN!” Lilith managed to shout over the ruckus.
Eda wryly blinked in her sister’s direction. “Oh, I forgot you were there. Alright, calm down kids, could you all get off my sister, you’re currently squishing her to death.” The group awkwardly shuffled away as Eda helped her sister to her feet. Lilith quietly mumbled out a thanks before muttering to herself as she fixed her messed-up hair.
Putting her hands on her chin, with a sly grin, Eda continued. “Okay, let’s start over. What exactly happened here?”
------------------------------------------------
Vela sat hunched on the couch, fidgeting nervously. After this world’s Luz explained about the Potion, and the shard, and her group explained about the portal that appeared and sucked them in, Lilith had retreated, muttering about needing to research, before excusing herself to find some books and do just that. In the mean time, everybody had split up into their individual groups.
Both Luz’s were currently talking to Victoria, who was smugly showing off her glyph inscribed metal bat. Both Willows and Guses were having a pleasant chat, while Sallix, their Willow’s older sister, was... asleep. Yeah, only Sallix Park could be the type of person capable of falling asleep while being sucked into a portal leading to another dimension.
Vela’s little sister, Amity, was having a conversation with her counterpart as well. Vela honestly couldn’t understand her younger sister could stay so calm in a situation like this. Speaking of calm, Amaryllis, Vela’s older sister, was currently chatting pleasantly with the Owl Lady. It was strange to see her smiling, as she usually had this cold demeanor that stopped anyone from approaching her.
But, back in their world, Amaryllis admired the Owl Lady, A LOT. Perhaps it was the same here? Most likely. Other than that, all that was left was Luz’s other older sister, Mari, who was... wait a minute, where was Mari!? Vela began frantically scanning the room in a panic. Mari was nowhere in sight.
“Oh no.” Vela whispered. Mari was a great person at heart, she really was. But, she was also insanely curious, to the point that she would gladly break into people’s lockers and sneak into their houses. Leaving her alone was probably the worst thing you could do. Vela quickly got to her feet, scampering over to Amaryllis, who was standing alone while Eda went to get some more drinks.
“Amaryllis, do you know where Mari is?” Vela whimpered.
“Why do you care?” The older girl responded with an annoyed glance, as though Vela was wasting her time.
“I-I just n-need to find her.” She stuttered. Amaryllis rolled her eyes.
“I think she went upstairs,” She said, jerking a thumb in the direction of the stairs, before turning and walking away. Vela breathed out shakily. She felt kind of dumb being scared of her own sister, but how could she not be? The only reason she asked Amaryllis is because she is ALWAYS watching her surroundings. She knows everything. Vela hurriedly padded up the stairs.
“Mari?” Vela called quietly. There was a slight shuffling coming from one of the rooms. Vela quietly cracked one of the doors open, only to find Mari going through the Owl Lady’s Nest!!
“Mari! What are you Doing!?” Vela exclaimed quietly.
“Huh?” Mari turned, spotting Vela. “Oh, Hi Vela. I’m looking through the Owl Lady’s stuff to see how different she is from the one back home.”
“Mari, we just talked about this last night, you can’t just do stuff like that.” Vela whimpered, grabbing the other girl’s arm and pulling her away.
“But Vela, it’s for the sake of research.” Mari pouted. As Vela and Mari exited the room, a figure before them made them both freeze.
“Hey, what are you guys doing up here?” Luz asked. As she didn’t appear to be mad, it was probably Counter Luz.
“We, um, were looking for the... bathroom.” Vela said quickly.
“Oh, it’s at the end of the hall.” Luz smiled, pointing towards the bathroom.
“Okay, thank you,” Vela said, pulling Mari with her, who was waving goodbye.
“No problem!” Luz said happily. Finally, once the two were inside, Vela locked the door.
“Mari!” Vela said, whirling towards the girl. “Are you crazy?”
“Vela, your overreacting. It was a simple scanning, nothing bad.”
“You broke into the room of a woman from another dimension!”
“Vela, calm down.”
“Calm down!? How can I stay calm at a time like this? We’re in a new world with your sisters, my sisters, Willow and her sister, not to mention Gus, and we don’t know how, or even if we can get back home!! Oh Titan, this is going to be horrible for my studies!” Vela started pacing, her breath growing more frantic. “ I CANNOT get another low grade. If I get just one more, Mom is going to kill me! She’s already so...”
“Vela!” Mari exclaimed, taking the girl’s shaking hand. “I need you to breathe, just breathe. Listen, we’re going to be okay! We have each other, and together, we’ll make it through!” Vela nodded, her breathing having evened out, as Mari placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
“Hey, I know, let’s go talk to Lilith. I’m sure she’ll have found something in her research that’ll make you feel less worried!” Vela smiled.
“Alright, but you have to promise you won’t go snooping around the house.”
“Fine. I’ll try.” Mari sighed. Vela nodded in content.
“Ready?” Mari asked, taking her hand.
“Ready.” Vela nodded as they stepped out of the bathroom.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria lay sprawled on the couch, watching as her youngest sister and her counterpart chatted away about magic, and Azura Book Clubs. It was honestly amazing how those two could fawn over a fictional book series, despite being from different dimensions. Even Amaryllis was making the most of the situation, chatting away with the Owl Lady. God, she is such a fangirl.
Victoria, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to get back home. As much fun as this unexpected visit turned out to be, she had her own life to get back to. Suddenly, Lilith, followed by Mari and Vela, walked into the room. At the sight of Lilith’s uncertain expression, all Victoria could think was,
“Oh no, what’s the bad news?”
“Ahem, if I may have everyone’s attention?” The whole room turned to look at Lilith.
“What’s up sis?” Eda asked.
“Well, after carefully studying the potion, along with a bit of research, I believe I have figured out how the portal occurred. You see, Luz’s Potion was designed to generate a portal between two points depending upon where the bottle was thrown. The door used to travel between the Demon Realm and the Human Realm contained a material known as Titan’s Blood, which opens rifts between worlds. The two interacting resulted in the portal opening to alternate worlds manifesting. The problem is, I have no idea what occurred to bring the children’s alternates and their alternate’s siblings here.” Lilith finished, looking slightly concerned.
“And what does that mean for us?” Victoria spoke up.
“Until I figure out exactly what occurred to bring you all here, I’m afraid I cannot guarantee you all a way home.” There it was, the news they had all been dreading. Vela let out a little hiss, while Amity and Willow exchanged concerned glances.
“So, what’s gonna happen now,” Luz asked.
“Well, you kids are gonna need a place to crash,” Eda stated. ”And I think its best if you kids split up.”
“Split up!” Mari exclaimed.
“Look kid, I like all of you, I really do, but there’s no way in hell I’m having everyone plus some total strangers crash at my place, and even if I wanted to, I don’t have enough space for everyone!” She said, throwing up her arms.
“I believe the most logical option is for everyone to take their counterparts and others home with them.” Lilith added.
“But, what about our parents?” Willow asked.
“Don’t you worry, I’ll help talk to them.” Eda assured her. After a bit more arranging, it was time for everyone to leave. Mr. and Mrs. Blight were out of town on business, which came as a relief to everyone. Eda and Lilith went to escort Willow and Gus home, giving them a chance to work things out with their parents.
“Alright Luz, take care of our guests, and don’t break anything while I’m gone. I’m trusting you!” Eda called from the door.
“Don’t worry Eda, you can count on me!” Luz yelled back.
“See ya in a bit kid,” Eda waved, before slamming the door shut, ignoring Hooty’s muffled shout.
“Well, it’s just us now.” Luz said, feeling awkward. She had been left with her counterpart Luz, along with her two sisters, Mari and Victoria. There was an uncomfortable silence between the group.
“Sorry about this whole mess, guys.” She said quietly, kicking her feet.
“Yeah, you should be.” Victoria snapped gruffly.
“Victoria!” Counter Luz scolded.
“What? It’s her fault we’re stuck in this mess. You think I wanted to spend my day like this!?” Victoria spat back. Luz’s expression fell, and Victoria instantly felt guilty.
“I’m gonna go downstairs,” She sighed, excusing herself. Once she was out of sight, Luz let out a small whimper.
“Hey, don’t worry about her. She just gets a bit snappy when she’s stressed.” Mari reassured, gently rubbing Luz’s back.
“I know, I just feel so guilty for dragging you all into this mess!”
“Hey, it’s okay,” Counter Luz chided. “We’re just going to have to make the most of this.”
“Yeah, we can do this, Lilith will find a way back for you guys soon, I’m sure of it!” Luz nodded. Now, if only she could convince herself she was right.

The Owl House: A Blight on Gravesfield (Chapter One)
One
An uninvited guest arrives at the Noceda residence.
Right, settle down everyone, time for a history lesson.
No, no, please save the questions for the end of the class.
At the beginning of the seventeenth century, English settlers - note the terminology there, English, not British, the Act of Union doesn’t happen for another hundred years. Anyway, English settlers started to cross the Atlantic in earnest to colonise what we now call the eastern seaboard of the United States. While Englishmen liked to claim they weren’t motivated by the same ‘base’ desires as the Spaniards in Central and South America, generally speaking, colonists were motivated by the same three things as the conquistadors.
There’s our key words - glory, God and gold.
Not literally gold - the hopes of gold nuggets on shores of Virginia didn’t bear fruit - but commodities. Beaver pelts and tobacco, things you couldn’t get in Europe at the time. The trade in rare goods and eventually humanity would enrich both colonists and their backers for the next two hundred years. They also served as breeding grounds for religious dissent.
Ah, dissenters. We’ll come back to them, because they’re much more interesting than they sound.
By the 1630s, the colonies in Virginia and Massachusetts are fairly well established, and people are spreading out in search of more land. If you’re a settler in Massachusetts and you want to find a new patch of land away from everyone else, well, Connecticut’s right there.
There’s a lot of debate over which town is the oldest in Connecticut - traditionally, it’s Wethersfield. But a few academics have argued that that laurel belongs to a different township - the one in which we are gathered today.
Which brings us to 1635, and the establishment of Gravesfield by ten men who had wandered over from the Colony of Massachusetts Bay. Perhaps no town in the state has as much weird colonial lore as us.
And how much of it is true?
Well, that’s for historians to work out…
 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It all began on a dark and grey autumn day.
When something happens in a small town like Gravesfield, it gets everyone’s attention. About two weeks ago, for example, the curator of the local historical society had been arrested, fined and fired for trespassing, and it was still the talk of the town. They whispered about it in the cafes, shared articles in the offices, and presented wild, unsubstantiated theories about it on local talk radio.
“So you’re saying that we can’t trust historians?”
A few drops of rain rapped against the window - it was one of those days where it doesn’t rain, but it gusts heavily, and droplets are caught in the wind. The kitchen was dark; light shadows danced on the wall, and the illuminated numbers on the microwave seemed almost brilliant in the gloom. It very much matched the mood.
“Look, Kerry, I’m not sayin’ all historians are bad, but you gotta listen to some o’ these people; the things they say about Jefferson n’ Washington n’ all them folks. They get their kicks on bein’ right and tearin’ people down, this Hopkins fella probably wanted to prove something, and…”
Over the dim sound of the radio, one could hear the clock; tick, tick, tick, tick. Occasionally it was drowned out as a gust rattled the windows and doors, but the sound always returned, constant and ever present - tick, tick, tick, tick.
Time. Ever ticking, ever moment. Every moment, a moment stolen.
“And that was Marvin from Bridge Street. We’ll come back to that, but first the news on the hour. Brad?”
On the bench, next to the phone, stood a small picture frame, the glass slightly illuminated in the stormy afternoon light. To all the world, it showed a typical family - a man, a woman and a little girl. The man’s face was obscured by the light, but one could see the clear similarities in the faces of the mother and daughter.
Those that were here. Those that were now gone.
“The Los Angeles Police Department has announced an amber alert that was put into place several months ago has been withdrawn. In defiance of all expectations, a teenager, whose family has asked for anonymity, returned home over the weekend; two other missing girls, whose cases were connected to the teenager, remain missing at this-”
Camila Noceda turned off the radio.
She sat at the kitchen table, staring at the clock. It had been a long day. It had been a long few weeks.
Unlike those engaging in baseless speculation about the case of Jacob Hopkins, Camila knew exactly what had happened to the previously respected amateur historian. She could even tell you who the mysterious assailant who had beaten him up and left him for the police was; it was her.
She was quite happy to remain anonymous, too. She didn’t want any laurels, any radio interviews, anything like that. She didn’t want to be reminded of that day.
Not while Luz remained separated from her.
Everything about the situation boggled her mind. The Boiling Isles, the Owl House, Emperor Belos - they sounded like fantasy; even she’d thought they were fantasy to begin with. But the idea that they were real, and that her daughter was in such a dangerous world - willingly, no less - was absolutely terrifying.
The same words ran through her head, day in and day out.
“Staying here was the best decision I ever made…”
Had she really been that bad of a mother?
There was a strange thumping noise outside. For a moment, Camila ignored it, but then it came again, louder this time.
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
It was like something was trying to break through a door.
Camila shot up - was it Vee? No, she was at school (where everyone still believed she was Luz - Camila swallowed the thought.) Was an animal trapped under the house - or had Hopkins started trapping them again? If he was, she was going to make their last encounter feel positively…
BANG!
Camila jumped. It was definitely coming from the front yard - this time it sounded a bit like a car backfiring, but much louder and much closer. The thumps were getting more frequent too, almost like a heartbeat - thump-thump thump-thump thump-thump!
She looked out the window.
There was… something swirling and morphing on the front lawn, trying and failing to manifest into a single unified shape. She could just about see the frame of a door, and a swirling landscape of… nothing behind. It almost hurt her eyes to look at. Yet she could just about swear she could see a silhouette through the shifting, swirling frame.
Luz!
She raced to the front door and threw it open, just in time for the door frame to settle - only a little, as the edges still twirled and twitched like a heart in cardiac arrest. The figure stepped forward, and Camila realised there was another held in her arms.
She stepped into the light, and Camila’s heart skipped a beat.
The figure was about Luz’ age, she reckoned - her hair was a bright purple, with edges of brown, and she wore what looked almost like a robe with purple sleeves and pants. Her eyes were a hazel brown, and her skin was pale - but more remarkable were her pointed ears.
And yet Camilia’s eyes focused on the limp form in her arms, her brown hair messy, her tan skin covered in cuts and bruises, and her breathing heavy and laboured.
The other girl spoke, her voice shaking.
“Are you Luz’s mom?”
Camila’s hands covered her mouth.
“Luz,” she whispered.
She was running before she knew it, sprinting over to the limp form of her daughter. She barely heard the other girl; she seemed to be babbling.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Emperor Belos, the golden guard, they-they came without warning a-a-and this was the only thing I could think of! Sh-she needs help but I don’t know…”
Camila took her from the girl’s arms, swiftly placing a finger on Luz’s wrist - a pulse, even and regular, if a bit shallow. Good sign, but she needed to get inside. She could go to pieces later; right now Luz needed her.
“It’s okay, mija, mami’s here,” she whispered. “We need to get you inside, come on…”
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know how to…”
Camila looked back at the girl as she turned to run inside.
“You can tell me about it later,” she said. “We need to lie her down.”
She raced inside - she thought she heard the girl sprinting after her - and ran into the living room, laying Luz down on the couch. Quickly she checked her temperature - seemed okay, but her skin was a little clammy. More important were the cuts and bruises. She needed bandages, and probably a hospital. She needed to call an ambulance, now, and…
“M-Ms. Noceda?”
The girl had arrived behind her - she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
“Can… can I try something?”
Camila opened her mouth to reply - what could she do? Luz needed a doctor! She needed a hospital, she needed…
Slowly, the girl stepped forward, standing over Luz’s unconscious form.
“Lilith said I wasn’t supposed to use this unless it was an emergency,” she said, “but I think this is an emergency, so…”
She touched her forehead to Luz’.
“With this spell declared… let the pain be shared.”
Camila stepped back, eyes wide, as both Luz and the girl glowed blue. The light intensified, and for a moment, she had to shield her eyes.
When she regained her vision, the girl was slumped next to the couch, sweating and breathing a little heavily; but Luz looked noticeably healthier, and many of the worst cuts and bruises were gone.
“What…”
“I shared the pain,” the girl said woosily.
“I… you could’ve hurt yourself!” exclaimed Camila. “Y-you have hurt yourself! I…”
“Yeah?” The girl chuckled humourlessly. “It’s worth it… as long as Luz is okay.”
CRASH! BANG! THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD!
Camila jumped and turned around. Outside the door, she could just about see the magical doorway violently twitch and swirl, thrashing like a trapped, wounded animal. For a moment, it seemed almost to be in a state of rage, as if it would lunge at Camila in a last, desperate effort; for help or to main, she could not say.
Then there was a loud pop, and it was gone. It was as if it had never been there.
“Your… portal?” Camila said, her throat dry. “It’s gone.”
“I…” The girl had hobbled to her feet and was gazing outside to where the door had been. She swayed on her feet.
“Oh,” she said softly. “Oh, Titan.”
Like a puppet with its strings cut, she swayed and dropped to the floor.
Camila looked down at the two unconscious girls; she mopped her brow, forcing herself not to panic or cry. She needed to keep herself together, to make sure Luz and her - friend, maybe? - were okay. Then she could cry all she liked.
There was a knock, and Camila turned back to the door. There was another girl, one eerily similar to Luz, standing there - she looked deeply confused.
“Camila?” she asked. “I-is everything okay?”
Camila swallowed, wondering how she was going to explain any of this.

my beautiful stranger (TOH Library AU) pt. 1
AU: 3.ii)  I work in the library and I’m a little concerned for your health bc you never stop studying (from this list)
requested by @grassberry639
I’ll make a part 2 if anyone wants it, but if not, then this was at least a fun writing exercise :)))
~~~
Luz Noceda loved her summer job. It was an important job, it was a fun job. The library was slow most days, giving Luz time to check out books for herself and sit at her desk, reading with her feet on the counter. Today, the library was empty, save one cute green-haired girl, sitting in the far corner, engrossed in a book of some sort.
Thinking back, Luz remembered the girl being there nearly every day of the summer, sitting in the same spot. She wondered why she hadn’t noticed how adorable she looked, with her hair falling into her face and her bottom lip stuck out slightly.
Nothing to it, Luz thought, walking over to the girl.
“Hey!” she announced brightly. “Who is this beautiful stranger I spy in the corner of a magnificent library?”
The girl looked up, startled and took in Luz’s presence. She blushed a scarlet red as Luz’s words registered in her mind. She closed her book, turning towards Luz.
“Do you need something?” she asked, nonchalant.
Luz frowned. “Can I not simply greet a fellow adventurer of literature such as yourself?”
The girl scowled at her book. “I’m not reading.”
Luz looked closer at the book. Indeed, she was holding a textbook.
“Are you… studying?” she asked, perplexed.
“Who did you say you were?” the green-haired girl asked.
“Ah, right, sorry! My name is Luz Noceda, savior of the world and hero-” she trailed off at the other girl’s stone cold look. “Alright, fine. I’m Luz, I work here. Nice to meet you.” Luz stuck out her hand with a blinding smile.
The girl regarded her indifferently before taking her hand and shaking it daintily. “Amity.”
Amity opened up her textbook and continued to skim it, taking notes on a sheet of loose leaf paper. Luz stood awkwardly for a few minutes, until Amity looked back up at her.
“What?” she snapped.
“Just…” Luz made a helpless gesture with her hands. “Why are you studying? It’s summer! You should be going on adventures and reading books for fun! Like this,” she showed Amity the book she had been reading. “The Good Witch Azura. It’s a wonderful book, you-”
Amity interrupted her. “I’ve already read it.”
Luz brightened visibly. “You have?” she gasped. “This is wonderful! Let’s talk about it- ooh, maybe we can cosplay together! Or wait- we could start a book club-”
Amity opened up her book. “I’ve got to get back to studying,” she said, effectively cutting off the conversation. Luz headed back to her desk, slightly put out. Amity clearly didn’t want to talk to her. She continued to read the book until the library closed, and Amity shuffled out.
Just as Amity was passing her desk, she whispered, “Someday I’ll find out your secrets, beautiful stranger.”
She walked faster.
Luz knew, based on her endless presence in the corner, that Amity would be back the next day. And she would be ready.
~~~
Luz arrived early in the morning, a few minutes before the library opened. She had a key, so she slipped in, holding a small collection of daisies wrapped with a ribbon. Luz stood by Amity’s corner, waiting for the library to officially open. Once it did, Amity came straight over to the corner.
“Good morning, Amity!” Luz said, a huge grin on her face. Amity jumped backwards, startled out of a daydream.
“Oh god, Luz,” Amity growled. “What are you doing here?” She looked mad but Luz could see her heart racing and her trying to calm down.
“I didn’t mean to frighten you,” she said earnestly. Amity looked at her suspiciously, but she continued. “I just brought you something.” Luz held out the flowers to Amity, who took them in shock. Her face turned pink and she stammered on her words.
“Y-you-” The shock on Amity’s face was almost comical. “You got flowers for me?”
Luz nodded gleefully, pleased with her ability to make her new crush speechless.
“Thanks,” Amity said, looking down, blush staining her pale skin. “No one’s ever gotten me something like this before.”
“Who are your parents? I just want to talk,” Luz joked, pulling up and chair and spinning it around. She sat on it backwards, facing Amity, who took a seat in her usual chair.
Surprisingly, Amity sighed, opening up her textbook to her page and pulling out her notes from the day before.
“Hey, why are you studying anyways? It’s summer,” Luz asked.
Amity sighed again. “It’s my stupid parents,” she said. “They’re forcing me to, I have to get ahead for school next year.”
“That sounds rough,” Luz said. She didn’t have any experience in that, but she knew she would hate it so much if she were in Amity’s place.
She froze. “I.. don’t know why I told you that,” she said. Amity looked around hastily, as if worried someone might’ve heard her insult her parents. SHe looked incredibly nervous. “I- I have to go,” she said, grabbing her stuff and stuffing it into her bag.
“No, wait-” Luz said. “It’s fine, why are you leaving?”
Amity hesitated. “I just have to go,” she replied, shouldering her bag and shoving her hands into her pockets. She speed walked out of the library, not looking back. Luz watched her go, wanting to go after her, but she had a job to do. She vowed to find Amity after her shift working at the library was done.

Piko’s Spring Tour “Pathfinder” report
There are just so many things I want to write down for this live but I realized I would not be able to put everything into one post and I have also forgot some parts of it so please bear with my scattered memories.
I went to almost all the lives in this tour except for the one in Sendai. So it includes Nagoya, Osaka, Yokohama, Fukuoka and Tokyo. It is an amazing feeling following an artist on tour, like waking up in a different city everyday, meeting the fans you don’t usually meet but still being able to say “See you tmr”. For two weeks I was filled with Piko feels and I couldn’t really remember doing anything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
KEEP READING - There is A LOT more under the cut lol
For most of the venues, there were like 150-200 people each. The final was in a bigger venue so there were more than that. There are girls, guys, couples, families, Japanese, foreigners, all kinds of people you can think of. And everyone is super nice and friendly. I still feel super awkward with my Japanese but people’s warmness there just calmed me a lot.
For the tour goods, there are T-shirts, mirrors, towels, mobile charger, tote bag and stuff from previous lives. If you buy one album, you will get a ticket to high touch with Piko at the end of the live. Plus there are chekis and if u are lucky enough you can get one with Piko’s sign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My favorite thing from the goods this time must be the totebag. Its cheap and convenient since you can use it both as a handbag and a shoulder bag. The mobile battery is a new thing, which is a bit expensive imo but it works pretty well and has a super cute design so everything is forgiven xD I also bought 2 more CDs to get a high touch with him. I will write about it in more details at the later part.
Piko wears a different outfit every live. For the one in Nagoya, he wears the black outfit as in Black Swan cover, then in Osaka it was the white one as in Realizing. He is back to the black one in Yokohama and in Fukuoka is another white shirt with black gilet. He went with the Black Swan outfit for MOST of the final live lol. If you read my last posts, you have already known what else he was wearing xD
As for the setlist. The setlist is the same for all the small lives. Only the final is different so I’m gonna list out all the songs that he has sung in all the lives, not in the exact order.
- Realizing - This is the opening song for all lives.
- Loki - He sang this in all the small lives but not in the final.
- Ghost Rule
- HERO
- Tengaku - He sang this in the final only
- Re:Act
- Rolling Merry Go Round - this is also in the final only. I was so surprised when he sang it ;; this is also my first time listening to the song live ;;
- Dappo Rock
- Kachoufuei - This is one of my favourite songs in the new album
- Sakurane - This is also final exclusive! In one part he messed up the lyrics and he was super embarrassed so he laughed and asked the audiences to sing for him lol
- Black Swan - the most beautiful song live from the new album. Tbh I didn’t like the recording that much cuz the instruments are a bit too loud for me. But in the live it sounds much better and Piko’s voice just resonates around the live house and it is absolutely beautiful.
- Kokoronashi Acoustic - This is in the final only. He sang this song many times before but this time is totally different. He sang the first verse with no instruments at all and the acoustic guitar sound only came in in the second verse.
- Kasa - He sang it with a backup vocal of himself since it is a self-duet and many parts are overlapped. He sang the guy’s part with female backup in the first verse and then switched to the girl’s part with male backup for the second verse. In some lives, the fans even sang along with the backup parts which was really cute xDDD
After this part there is usually a small MC parts where Piko can talk and take a short rest before entering a non-stop session of about 4-5 rockish songs xD
- Murabito A - I love the song and the message in it. Whenever he gets to the “kamisama” I really just reached my hands towards him as if he is my God lol
- Futaiten Path Finder
- Lost One no Goukoku - I cant believe Piko covered it just recently! He sounds absolutely amazing in it. He didnt try to sing the original key (though I think he totally can). He chose a lower tone which showed off his beautiful, manly middle range and I love it so much. In the entry part of the song, he asked everyone to raise hand and shout out at the end of each drum session. He also asked the girls and the guys to do it separately. Even though there were only a few guys, they were really energetic, even when Piko asked them to say Yeah but in a girly cutesy voice. (They did it anyway lol!)
- Haikei Doppelganger - Of course this cannot be missed! This is like the most heated song in the live. Everyone was just headbanging like crazy. He just sounds absolutely powerful and precise for such a hard song that I lost my mind every time I heard it.
- Make Our Days - this is like a sequel to Make My Days. He mentioned that this is a song where he wants everyone to become one by doing the same moves. It is pretty similar to Make My Days and I dont know how to explain it in writing lol. So lets wait until some videos of it actually come out xDD He also asked all the band members to do that with different style every time and it was so funny (I will write more about it but probably in a separate post)
- Piscium - Last song before the encore. He spoke about the meaning of it, about how he started his career as a net artist, how it was in the beginning where they didnt really know what to do but try different things and see how it works. And it has been a long way with both joys and sadness and now he realizes that its not him walking alone, and that everything he does has the people who support him being a part of it. Thats why its not about him anymore but about all of us. Thats why Make My Day becomes Make Our Days, and Piscium lyrics also say “You made me. I made you”.
It was a beautiful moment…
Before the funny part kicked in xDDD
If you follow Piko, you might have already known that he has a corner called Pikone jinsei soudan in his namahousou, in which he puts on an okama personality and gives people advices on their problems xDD The live this time also has a session like that.
- Tokyo Shinobizaki
The first song of the encore is Tokyo Shinobizaki, which is an ending he sang for a short anime recently. It is a slow, jazzy and mature song, the type you may find in some old bars I guess. In the small lives, Piko would wear his live tour T-shirt, walk out and sing it with a stand mic. And he kept swaying and sliding his hands up and down the stand mic xD He has such lovely hands that my eyes kept fixating on them through out the song @@ In the final, when the music started playing, everyone was waiting for Piko to come out as usual, but it was just a band playing a super long intro. The live house for the final has a smaller stage on the right side that looks like a small balcony. And when the intro finally ended, Piko walked out from there, wearing a long red dress (the same one he wore in luz’s event not too long ago). He looked so pretty in that dress that everyone could have mistaken him as a girl without knowing him before >w<.
After he sang Tokyo shinobizaki, the jinsei soudan session started. Every live he would pick 2 letters from the fans and read it out loud (in okama voice) and then gave advices to them. All the band members also helped him out (and they also spoke in funny voices lol). There are many interesting questions but I think I will write about them in a separate post. I will just mention a few moments here. In the Osaka live, one fan was asking about how to deal with a rebellious son. And Piko was like “hmm I dont know. Should I ask my own parents??” and then he looked to the back of the stage, raised his hand and shouted out “Mama~~”. Turned out his mom was also there and all the lights of the stage started pointing to her xDD she then said that she actually didnt have to deal with Piko’s rebellious phase cuz he was a super good kid and didnt have that phase at all xDD In the final, Piko randomly picked a guy from the audience and asked him if he has any questions. The guy didnt have any, but he said that he brought his daughter to the live to see Piko. And Piko, still wearing that dress, rephrases his words like “Oh, so papa likes me, and papa wants his daughter to like me too so he brought her here?” He then asked to see the daughter. We all expected like a little grown up girl but turned out she was a super tiny cute little girl xDDD and Piko was like “ok lets get married” lol
- Yoshiwara Lament: Normally Pikone only sang Tokyo Shinobizaki but in the final she sang this one too xDD
After the Pikone part, Piko got into the backstage and changed again.
When he was inside the big screen started playing and they played a part of Black Swan MV which is coming soon.
And they also announced on the screen a two-man live with Pokota on November 4th this year!
2nd encore:
- Thanatos
- Hypnos: As some of you might know, Thanatos is the god of death in Greek mythology. Hypnos is his twin brother. Hypnos is a god of sleep. Piko said that the tour is like a dream. And when this tour end, everyone will wake up from their dream, go back to their everyday life. Thanatos is his first CD ever released, but Hypnos is the future. He will keep moving forward and come back, being a stronger and newer Piko. He asked for a title call and wrapped up the live with that song.
Tumblr media
After the live came the high touch. I did it 3 times. One time was in the first live in Nagoya. I didnt buy the CDs but one friend of mine was kind enough go give me one of her tickets. The high touch is super short. You touch hand with him and say one sentence or two and thats it. I kept thinking what to say in Nagoya and ended up telling him “I LOVE YOU” in English lol. Second time was in Fukuoka. I did’t plan to buy a CD that day but that was 3rd day of the 3-day-in-a-row lives that Piko performed in (Tour in Yokohama, Chan-gero Sonic, tour in Fukuoka). He sounded a little bit tired at the beginning in Fukuoka but he tried his best and still sounded wonderful till the end of the live. So I bought a CD to high touch and tell him how well he has done. I also asked him not to try too hard. And all the time he just gently smiled back and said Thank you. The fragrance left from his hands still linger on mine even after I left ;;
Another interesting event did happen to me and my friends in the final. After the live I went for dinner with a few Pikoots and on our way to the station, we were supposed to pass by the livehouse again. A taxi was running from behind us so we decided to stop and walked to the side to let it pass. Then that taxi stopped in front of the livehouse and turned out it was Piko’s taxi. So we saw him getting in the taxi so we waved at him and said good job. Of course we all freaked out after that, like not believing what just happened. It was a miracle, really xD
Tumblr media
So that’s the end of my tour dream. I tried to keep this report short but you can see how long it has become. I feel like its still not half enough to write down everything I want to write but I hope it helps you understand how wonderful a live it was. There were a lot of cameramen during the final so I am secretly hoping there will be a DVD!

A Klangst and Lance sick fic one-shot I spent days working on and I’m so glad it’s finished! I hope you all enjoy it! ^^
“Lance. Laaaaaaaance.”
My head pounded. I must've hit my limit. The last thing I remember was barely making it into the training room. Ever since we got Shiro back and reunited Pidge with her brother, Matt, it'd been one heck of a party in the castle. Allura and Coran had all sorts of questions for Matt wanting to learn any information he had that could help us win the war. Shiro and Matt bonded over what their capture had done to them and were constantly shoulder to shoulder together. Pidge and Matt were catching up on precious family time missed. I wanted to feel happy for them; reuniting with family is everything I could ever dream of. That's exactly why I could hardly stand looking at them.
Matt showed Hunk how to build these little dino-like drones that blow up when they touch an enemy, their cute exterior masking their demonic motive. He also brought with him new recipes for Hunk to start crafting himself. I'd never seen his eyes flash that excitingly since he discovered how to make whipped cream with the space goo. Meanwhile, Keith showed interest in Matt's unique combat style. Even though they weren't in the same class back in the Garrison, Matt immediately recognized him from being the best pilot besides Shiro and was more than happy to take him under his wing. Of course.
I could grieve over how I was now the eighth wheel, but every single moment, every single day, my thoughts traveled back to Keith. He just had to attract another fan to walk right past me and remind everyone how superior he was in every way. I approached Matt with classic beauty tips to restore the shine in his skin and hair that he had to have lost during his time fighting Galra with the rebellion, which he quietly nodded to as expected, but really, I couldn't handle reliving those cargo pilot years again.
I thought, what would Keith do? Heavily ironic, I know. But I was desperate to escape from the suffocating black hole I kept being pulled into. For two weeks, I waited until I heard Keith finally go to bed to take my turn in the training room; having to be checked up on by him would've been the greatest humiliation of all. I clocked in for two hours of hand-to-hand combat exercises, steadily increasing the difficulty day after day. I'd be lying if I said I made any progress. The training bots had me on my back faster than I could even make an effort to touch them. My body was littered with cuts, bruises, and scrapes and cried for relief. However, my older brother, Craig, always said, “What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.” And I would eventually learn something from this, right?
“Wake up, sleepy-head.”
I opened my eyes finally. I saw blue space ships and shooting stars circling around the ceiling light.
Wait a minute, I thought. I rubbed my eyes to do a double-take. They were the exact same shape, exact same colors as the ones in my bedroom back home. I sat up and looked down at my bedsheets: space with the galaxy swirls and the Canis Major, Cygnus, Gemini, and all the constellations that could visibly fit into the print. My eyes wandered frantically; my shelf with all my soccer ribbons and trophies, my poster of Shiro, my stuffed starter water Pokemon, my Little Mermaid wall clock, everything was the same.
“How are you feeling?”
That voice; that sweet, soothing, gentle, motherly voice. I couldn't believe it.
“Tina?” I said. “Is that really you?”
My older sister, Tina, was right there standing in front of me. There was no mistaking her long, luscious, curly brown hair and grassy green eyes. If I were a girl, I'd be looking directly in a mirror.
“Of course it's me, silly,” she said sweetly.
“B-But--” I stammered. “Me and Hunk and Pidge-- We found Shiro-- Busted him out of the Garrison-- Blue Lion-- Took us out to Kerberos-- Then through a wormhole-- Then the Galra-- Then Voltron-- Then we-- Then we--”
“Please settle down, Lance,” Tina said. “Take a deep breath.”
A lump rose in my throat; my hands were shaking madly. Was it all just a dream then? Tina patted my head. It should've calmed me right then and there, but I couldn't breathe still.
“You've been pushing yourself way too hard,” she told me. “Everyone's worried.”
“Wh-Who's we?” I asked shakily.
“Your friends,” she replied. “They've been waiting to hear what's been bothering you so they can help ensure this never happens again.”
“I don't understand-- Oww,” I held my head in my hands. It felt like Keith had thrust his knife in there after finally having had enough of me. Tina's hand lowered to my forehead, so soft and cool.
“You're really burning up,” Tina said sorrowfully. She took my shoulders gently and laid me back down. “Here. Now stay and rest until you're feeling one hundred percent better.”
“But there's so much I have to tell you!” I cried. After what felt like years, I was finally with my sister. I wanted to reach up and hug her and never let go and never leave again, but I didn't have the strength to.
“Shhshh,” she whispered. “Everything will be fine when you wake up.”
“GOOOOD MOOORNING, MCCLAAAIN FAMILYYYYY!!”
Out of nowhere, Craig, oh Craig, appeared in aviator attire, and my room morphed into the inside of a passenger airplane. Tina was still with me, holding my hand.
“And how are we today?” Craig cheered. “We've got clear skies ahead on our flight this morning accompanied with skittled dolphins mounted by duckling warriors and a guaranteed guest performance of the Woofs!”
“AIRPLANES!!”
Then little Diego, or widely known in our family and his friends as Deets, sprung in my face, flailing his arms. At that moment, whether I was aboard the castle or back home, I knew I had to be dreaming. I looked up and discovered the plane had no ceiling and indeed, there were a multitude of dolphins, dual and tri-colored making up the colors of the rainbow, being ridden by little ducklings wearing gladiator helmets. Suddenly, heavy jazz music launched its assault on my ears. I leaped from my seat, turned around, and found a pug on a drum set playing a slow, smooth rhythm, a yellow labrador on the piano, a German shepherd on the bass, and a corgi on the saxophone. They all wore black sunglasses and fedoras with the signature paw sign on them.
“Lance, look! I'm flying!!”
And to top it all off, my little sister, Luz, was giggling her butt off as she soared and spun in the sky in close proximity of the dragons.
“Luz?!” I shouted. “How did you even-- Get down from there!!”
“AIRPLANES!” Deets exclaimed again.
“And if you look down to your right,” Craig announced. “We're just passing over Bread Town, and they've graciously supplied us with all the bread fair sculptures to jolly our appetites through this plane wreck.” He presented me with the two miniature fair and ferris wheel creations, all in working order.
“Wheat or rye?” He asked me.
“Enough!” I cried, slapping the luscious-looking bread our mom could make away from me. I had some crazy dreams, but never had I felt so scared, so panicked, my heart racing faster than when I had to get a 3-D sculpture of the face of the warden of Beta Traz without getting caught. “Who's even flying the plane??”
I hauled out of my seat and ran for the cockpit. When I opened the door, it tore from the hinges and blew out into the sky, hitting one of the dolphins. It exploded into a puff of glitter and skittles. I clung onto the metal before I could meet the same fate.
“This is why you need a seat belt,” the pilot said. He emerged from the top of the seat, directly facing me.
“Slav??” I groaned. Of all people to appear next…. “What are you doing here??”
“In the fourty-seven point four percent of realities where seat belts have never been invented,” he said. “It's time to make your own with the seat belt creation kit.”
“What even is that??”
“Not that it matters now, for soon in this reality, we're going to dive deep into the mustard of sorrow.”
The plane jerked down and flung me back into my seat. We were descending faster and at a greater angle than any roller coaster I dared to board, and into mustard; so bitter and sour.
“Pull up!!” I screeched. “Somebody!!”
“Control's beyond our reach,” Craig said, suddenly floating above me. “Such has been our lives.”
“Come fly with me, big brother!” Luz sang, now riding a dolphin herself.
“AIRPLANES!!” Deets howled in harmony with the Woofs.
I turned to my sister about to plea for help in ending this madness, but she was just sitting still, smiling at me like nothing was wrong. I curled up in a ball and covered my ears. I prayed and I pleaded for it all to end, for someone to come swoop me from the chaos, but who? Who that wasn't my nonchalant siblings?
Hunk.
Pidge.
It was all coming back to me now.
Shiro.
Allura.
Coran.
Keith.
Keith….
A great force choked my heart. I lurched forward and clutched my chest. Whatever it was, my body didn't like it and made attempts to force it out my throat.
Keith?
Without thinking, I burst from my seat and reached for the sky.
“KEEEEEITH!!”
I flailed and wailed with all my might, only to be grabbed by both sides and pushed down. The action sent a shock wave of pain and spasms through my body, a sensation absent from when I was aboard the crashing plane. Could it be I was back in the real world? If so, which one? Was I back home like I had hoped for or in the castle? I tried to open my eyes, but my body went on full auto-pilot, thinking I was still trying to escape from the descent mustard of sorrow. The muffled voices writhed and scratched against me. I felt a great pressure on my legs next; I was completely immobilized. Before I could react, I felt a slight pinch in my right arm. A wave of relief flowed through my body and allowed it to sink into wherever I laid. I could finally open my eyes without panic holding them down.
There they were: from the front down, Hunk and Coran to my left and Shiro and Keith to my right. Sweat dropped from each of their bangs as they looked down at me with great worry. I never thought it'd be possible for them to be that concerned about me. Just how bad did I look to cause them such distress? I opened my mouth to speak, but a heavy spell started to force my eyes shut again. I fought it for as long as I could; there was something I needed to do first. I needed to get a good look at Keith to understand why I called out to him out of everyone else on the ship. His eyes were so focused, so gleaming, so purple.
So his Galra side was visible after all.
When feeling came back to my body next, I wondered if I had opened my eyes at all. My surroundings were almost pitch black. I felt something encircle and tickle my mouth. I reached my hand around it to feel what I thought was Allura's hair; the beautiful maiden coming around to give me mouth to mouth, but alas. It was a respirator mask. I sat up and ripped it off my face, sighing in disappointment. However, the action invoked a violent coughing fit. As I gasped for air, I discovered my voice had been tainted by an ugly rasp. I caught colds and the flu before, but out in space, we didn't know what vile specs of bacteria could contaminate our bodies and what effect they would have on humans.
Soon, the respirator was slapped back on my face and a pair of firm, half-gloved hands promptly took me by the shoulders.
“Lance!”
It was Keith. He rubbed my back as I let out a few more painful coughs. When the ordeal was over, he carefully laid me back down. I thought I had to have been dreaming still because the Keith I knew would never be careful let alone gentle.
“Don't move,” he instructed. “Or talk. Just rest.”
I had seen him pretty banged up, for instance, when he came back from the Blade of Marmora base with Shiro, but he looked like he had been flung into a violent vortex and struck by its quintessence. I squinted when I looked at his hair, not even a mullet, just a shaggy, spiky shrub that had too many radioactive fertilizers, and he had the darkest circles under his eyes I had ever seen on anyone.
“Whoa, Keith,” I said. “What big battle did I miss?”
“Nothing,” Keith growled. “Now shut it.”
“But you look horrible,” I remarked. “You should get suited up for a healing pod or something.”
“The only one here who needs a healing pod is you,” Keith snapped. “But there was a bug that kept them from working when Coran and Pidge made an attempt to update the castle technology to this time period.”
“Really?” I chuckled. “Does this mean we have space wi-fi now?”
“I don't know what that is,” Keith said, frustrated. “But you better shut your quiznak before I shut it for you.”
Man, Keith was really out of it.
“I don't think you're using that word correctly,” I teased.
“You don't understand!!” Keith yelled. “You never do!! Do I have to spell it out for you??”
If I had the energy to move my arms, I'd clap them over my ears; Keith's fiery voice had the power to make them bleed.
“Ow,” I grunted. “You're not the only one who's tired here.”
“Yeah, I'm tired! I'm tired of you thinking of yourself and not seeing how much I care about you! You didn't think I'd notice something was wrong?? You could barely stand without wobbling and your pants looked like they were going to fall down at any given time! You and your cheeky laugh when you said you were fine! I wish I could just rip out your vocal cords and strangle you with them!”
He had me by the shoulders again. I really did it this time, I thought. I closed my eyes waiting for the classic Kogane punch or choke-hold. A good ten ticks went by. Nothing. I opened my eyes to see what was taking him so long. What I saw was even worse than any glare or blow he could ever land on me.
“We almost lost you,” he sobbed grossly. “Your fever was so high and your heart rate broke the monitor. If we hadn't put you under in time….”
His tears dripped onto my chest. Crying was never good, especially if I was the one who caused it, and Keith's face was as red as the Red Lion and his shoulders quaked and heaved with each sob.
“Hey,” I said. “It's okay. It's not really worth crying over.”
“How?” Keith choked. “How can you say that? Didn't you hear what I just said?”
“Yeah,” I said. “But you? Crying over me? It's the dumbest idea for a soap opera in this whole universe. It's a worse and more unrealistic plot line than a man in his mid-twenties owning his own company. Now if it were Hunk, Pidge, Shiro, Allura, Coran, or even Matt, then it would work better.”
A few ticks went by without a word; Keith's face appeared to have softened. I smiled, thinking my lecture had worked.
“See?” I said. “I knew you'd come to your senses--”
However, the universe had a queer idea for a prank: taking Keith's hands against my cheeks and leaning in so his forehead brushed against mine.
“Just shut up,” he whispered. “And don't ever speak that nonsense again.”
I gulped. Even though I wore a respirator, my lungs stopped functioning. My heart dropped to my stomach than bounced up to my throat. Then, I felt Keith's pants brush over my legs, and there he was, smack dab on my body. He pushed himself downward and laid his head on my chest.
“Uh,” I muttered. “Keith?”
He snored lightly in response. Just great. What if I had to use the bathroom? Surely he'd kill me for getting his clothes wet or waking up to the smell of the other thing. I shook him lightly.
“Keeeeith,” I whined. But my efforts were in vain. Just how long had I been out with this hot-headed idiot watching over me? I sighed in defeat. I would've liked it more if it had been Allura or another lovely looking space lady, but for some strange reason, I'd come to like this just as much. He laid there completely still with his arms spanned over me. I used the opportunity to flatten and straighten the blaring distraction on his head. I paused; I never imagined his hair would feel so smooth and soft. I rested and intertwined my fingers in his raven locks. If that didn't wake him up, then surely my drumming heart would, but he didn't stir an inch.
I didn't know what was coming over me. I thought maybe I had a fever still. Once I got better, everything would go back to normal. However, I had a feeling that Keith would never let this go, literally, and my hunch was right. Until I was on my two feet again, he trapped me to keep me from recklessly escaping. He didn't even care if anyone was watching or if Pidge was snapping pictures of us in an obviously intimate position. I was surprised that Shiro was enabling this behavior, but after he told me that I had contracted a space version of the flu called Phlegia, I stopped protesting. I remembered he and Keith have a history and must know the reason Keith is clinging to me like a kitten.
I panicked at the thought of Keith with little kitten ears and a tail. So cute! In fact, Galra resembled cats in a way. I found myself hoping that his Galra genes would surface and give him the same features. Suddenly, I discovered that I had never thought so intensely about an individual before despite having flirted infinitely with girls for a number of years. Why Keith, a guy, of all people? I didn't know why, but if there was one thing I was sure of, I didn't want to make him cry ever again.

In Love With The Idea Of You - Royalty AU (Lin X Reader) Part One
Okay, This was for @hamwriters Write-a-thon challenge: Day One, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I was down and out most of the week. I wasn’t even going to bother but @gratitudejoyandsorrow was being her awesome self and convinced me to write it anyways… (Just a side note, guys, she is totally amazing…just saying)… Oh and please let me know what you think…I can leave it just as a one-shot or if you think it should continue…. So, without further ado, here is “In Love With The Idea Of You”.
Word Count: 2628
Warnings: Umm…Major fluffiness and I warn you now….tissues are advised.
“Lin-Manuel, stop fussing and stand still.” Queen Luz reprimanded as they waited for the neighboring King and Queen to show up. The young Prince sighed but did what he was told.
King Luis kneeled in front of his second born, “Now, what are you supposed to do once the contract is signed?” With a look of disgust on his face, he recounts the actions his father had been teaching him these last few months, using his mother as a stand in.
His father sighed. “My son, that was good but you are going to marry this girl one day. You need to treat her with kindness and honor.” The young boy’s face twisted in confusion, unable to comprehend his father’s words.
His mother kneeled before him. “Treat her like you would treat me.” The king nodded in agreement.
“Really, mom?” His eyes wide in shock as the words she had made more sense than anything his father had tried to teach him. He loved his mother more than anything and he was supposed to treat this girl in the same manner? Queen Luz’s nodded softly. “Okay, then.”
The trumpets sounded, announcing that the princess and her parents had arrived. Prince Lin straightened his stance and stood tall and calm, just like King Luis had instructed him to do.
As the royal monarchs of the two countries had finished signing the arranged marriage contract, Prince Lin stepped forward towards the queen of the neighboring country. “Your majesty, if I may?” He bowed to show respect to his future mother-in-law, as she turned to bring the young princess in her arms closer to him.
Taking a deep breath, Lin gently took the tiny girl’s hand in his. “Dearest Y/N, I promise to honor and treasure you forever.” He places a quick but soft kiss on the top of her hand. This caused, not only both kings and queens to smile, but the whole audience to react to the young prince’s actions and words, which were beyond his short 5 years of life.
Sixteen years later…
They haven’t seen each other since that day.
Prince Lin had grown up to be the man that his parents had always hoped he would. He held a commanding post in the royal army, but he was also was a very learned man, reading any book he could get his hands on. He had been helping his older sister as an adviser as she prepped to take over ruling the kingdom from their parents.
It is three days before your 18th birthday and, not only were you preparing for your birthday, you were also beginning to prepare for your coronation and your wedding. As you sat in your study, there was a quiet knock at the door.
“Yes?”
Your mother opened the door. “Hello, my darling girl. I have exciting news.”
You stand and turn to face her. “Exciting news, mother?”
The queen crosses the room and grabs both of your hands in hers. “Your fiancé is set to arrive later today. I hear he has grown into the proper man to help you rule.”
You frown. You had only been two years old when you were betrothed to Prince Lin-Manuel. You don’t even remember him or what had happened that day. You had been told all your life that the match would save both kingdoms. You were upset that your parents had chosen your husband for you. You had spend most of your days with your nose in books, since you were to rule. You had to be knowledgeable if you were going to be queen. Your tutor had you learning the languages and customs of the surrounding countries, as well as the customs of your own. But, when Anthony, your tutor, wasn’t looking, you were absorbed in all the other literature that your library had to offer. You especially loved the romances, because you knew you were not able to marry for love. You would have rebelled against your parents but, when you learned that your parents were unable to produce anymore children after you were born, you resigned yourself to what you felt like your fate.
You place a smile on your face. “That’s wonderful, mother. Would you help me prepare for his arrival?”
Needless to say, Prince Lin-Manuel wasn’t looking forward to leaving his home. He was having to say goodbye to everything and everyone he knows and loved. But, as he prepared to leave, his father came to his chamber. “My son, do you have a moment? I need to speak to you before you leave.”
“Of course, father.” He stood as his father walked into the room.
“I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you.” King Luis placed his hands on his 21-year-old son’s shoulders. “I know that this isn’t the ideal situation, but you have been taking everything in stride. I would have loved to see you marry for love but we had to make this match to protect our country. If we hadn’t, I don’t know if we could have survived.”
Prince Lin-Manuel shook his head, “Father, it is pride and joy to serve my country in this fashion.” He knew that answer would make his father so happy, and partially, it was true. He loved his country and had served it well as a lieutenant in the army. Yet, he was a little unsettled about having to go to another country, marry their princess and help her rule.
“There’s a good lad! Now, come. It is time for you to bid farewell to your mother and sister.”
Alone in his carriage, Prince Lin-Manuel thought about his bride. The last time he saw her, she was only two and he was five. Now, he was going to meet her again, now as adults. He searched his brain, trying to remember what you had looked like. He closed his eyes and thought back. He finally was able to remember your bright y/e/c eyes and your soft y/h/c hair. He chuckled to himself as he remembered how cute you had been as a toddler.
“There, now you’re ready.” Your mother declared as she placed a familiar necklace around your neck, but it wasn’t yours.
“Mother, this is yours. Father…”
“…gave it to me on the day we met before we were wed. It’s yours now.”
You whirl around and throw your arms around your mother’s neck. “Thank you.” You whispered into her neck. You suddenly felt emotional as you felt a tear fall in between you and your mother’s shoulder.
Your mother felt it too. She pulled you back and wiped away your tears. “Now, dearest, you mustn’t ruin your makeup before Prince Lin-Manuel arrives.” She jokingly scolds. After she made you laugh, she double checked your face. She was about to say something when a servant frantically knocked on your door.
“Your Majesties, the Prince has arrived.”
Once you and your parents were in place in the empty throne room, trumpets sounded and the herald announced in a loud voice, “Now presenting, his royal highness and future king, Prince Lin-Manuel Miranda!”
The doors to the throne room opened wide and you see him for the first time. He wore his shoulder length dark hair in a very regal looking ponytail with a matching goatee. And yet, he wore no crown to go with his royal ensemble. He starts walking toward you in a stride he must have learned over the years. His head held high, not in arrogance but in respect. As he got closer, you start noticing more details. Like his eyes, they are shining and bright, but he has bags under them, which worries you that he may not have been sleeping well, just like you in anticipation of today.  Then, his smile about takes your breath away. He finally reaches the foot of the risen platform on which your parents are sitting on their thrones and you stand just to the left of your mother. He bows deeply.
“Prince Lin-Manuel, welcome to our palace. I hope that you will find a way to feel at home here.” Your father says, knowing that this arrangement was forced on him as well.
“Thank you, your majesty. I’m sure that it will feel somewhat like home in no time.” The prince still bowed in respect to his future father-in-law.
“Prince Lin-Manuel, may I introduce our daughter and your future bride, Princess Y/N” Your mother adds.
He glances up and makes eye contact with the queen, “May I?” She nods in response. He slowly rises and makes his way up the stairs until he is standing in front of you.
You blush as his eyes meet yours. “Welcome, Prince Lin-Manuel. I hope that, because of these circumstances we find ourselves under, we able to rule our country with the kindness and justice that the people deserve.” You curtsy as you make your statement.
He reaches forward and gently takes your hand in his, “Dearest Princess, I hope that too.” He, then, leans forward and places a kiss on the top of your hand.
After retiring to your chamber for the night, you suddenly had an urge to see the prince. You wanted a moment alone with him so you could speak plainly and without the audience of your parents. 20 minutes later, you are standing in front of his door. You take a deep breath in an attempt to calm your nerves and knock on the door.
Unsure of who could be at his chamber door, instead of calling out for them to enter, he rose from his desk and called through, “Yes? Who is it?”
“Your Highness, it’s me, Princess Y/N. I wish to speak with you.” You call quietly.
He opens the door, still dressed in his regalia, but the coat is undone. “Dearest, we are to be wed; please just call me Lin.”
“Lin.” You say shyly, a blush coming over your cheeks. You had never called a man by just his given name before. There was always some title to add.
He reaches for your hand, “Come in, you wished to speak with me about something?”
“Yes, but I also want to show you something.” You say, placing your hand in his. A small shiver runs through you at his touch.
“Then, lead the way.”
After a few twists and turns, you arrive at a balcony that is enclosed in glass but you can see the stars and the moon shining brightly. “This is my favorite place in the castle. I come here to think and gaze at the sky. The sunset is my favorite, all the colors.” Lin see and hears the wonder in your eyes and voice. It causes him to smile. You know, he thinks, I may be forced into this marriage, but, I think I love her already. He hears his mother’s voice in his head, “Treat her as you would treat me.” You pull him out of his reverie as you take his hand to lead him to the cushioned bench at the end of the room. You spend about an hour getting to know one another.
“It’s getting late. Come, let’s head back to our chambers. We probably have a long and arduous day ahead of us tomorrow.” He said as you fought a yawn. He took you hand and he lead you back to his chamber.
“Why are we here? I thought you were taking me back to my chamber?” You question. He turns to smile at you.
“It’s only for a moment. Please, wait here.” With that, he goes into his chamber and you hear him rummaging through one of his trunks he arrived with. Moments later, he reappears with small box in hand. “Look, I know we have, technically, been engaged for 16 years, but I wanted to give you something to signify that I have cared for you ever since that day.” He opens the box to reveal a worn pendant that held his family’s coat of arms. “I asked my mother to have it made not long after that day and I have kept it with me everyday since. It has reminded me that I was promised to you and you to me and that I would fulfill that promise and of the words my mother told me the day of the contract.”
“What did she tell you?” you asked, your eyes brimming with tears.
“‘Treat her as you would treat me.’ Darling, I hold my mother to the highest regard, so I will treat you with the same intentions.” He held the necklace up in askance. You quickly turn around and hold up your hair so he can clasp it around your neck. As his fingertip grazed the back of your neck, it sent shivers down your spine. No man, except your father, had never touched you, and Lin was your fiancé and he caressed your neck after placing the now closed clasp on the nape of your neck and before he moved away, he placed a chaste kiss over the clasp. You gasp at the intimate contact. “I’m sorry, did I overstep my boundaries?”
You turn back around to face him. “No, it’s just I have never been alone with a man before, but you are to be my husband. It fills me with joy that we are happy together and that maybe, we will grow to love one another.”
“My darling,” he reaches to caress your cheek, “I already love you. I have loved you since that day sixteen years ago. When my mother told me that you were to be my wife and that I should love you the same way I love her, even at five years old, I adored you. Your sweet smile and kind eyes. The way you giggled warmed my heart. I kept those memories etched in my memory.”
You wrap your arms around his neck and cry. He had spent his whole life, loving you from afar.
“Y/N, why are you crying?” he implored you, but the sound of him saying your name with such kindness and concern, caused your tears to begin anew. He just held you as you cried in the hallway outside his chamber. Next thing you knew, he had picked you up and was carrying you to your chamber. After a few minutes, your tears had dried but you still kept your face in the crook of his neck. “Darling, are you still awake?” he asked after your breathing had calmed.
You lift your head to gaze at his face. “Yes, what is it?”
“Where is your chamber exactly? I don’t rightly know where I am or where I am going.” he blushed.
You glance around your surroundings. “Oh, you are close, dearest, just around the corner.” You settle back into his chest as he resumes his trek to your chamber.
When you arrive just a minute later, he sets you lightly on your feet. “Good night and sweet dreams, my princess,” and he repeats the gesture from the throne room earlier that day, bowing deep and placing a kiss on the top of your hand.
After he rises back to his full height, you step closer to him. “Good night, my handsome prince.” Then, you press a soft kiss to his cheek and scamper into your chamber, quietly closing the door. You couldn’t believe it. You were in love with the man who your parents had picked for you when you were two years old.
As Lin walked back to his chamber, he smiled to himself. Yes, I have loved the idea of her for all this time but now, I can say with certainty, I love her.

Askbox / Masterlist / What I Write / This Week’s Works
I had to take a few deep breaths to calm my nerves as I stepped out of the limo. There were hundreds of people packed tightly into the space, all dressed formally for the event.
I gave my dad and my sister Luz a hug before taking my mother’s hand and following my publicist into the frenzy.
There had to be at least two hundred photographers all screaming at us, begging us to look one way or another. I had been through moments like this before at other award shows, but this was by far the largest scale. I stood tall and smiled bright. I started to worry about my mom, as this was her first time on the red carpet, but every time I looked over at her she never faltered; smiling as bright as ever.
I think in that moment I was more proud of her than she was of me.
My publicist led us over to do interviews with several different networks, all of them asking the same questions.
When it was over, we were finally ready to head inside. I took a selfie with my mom, posting it to twitter before heading towards the door.
As I stepped in, a woman beside me in a white dress that shined bright against her dark skin tone bumped into me when we both reached for the door.
“Sorry.” we both said at the same time. When I heard the voice I looked at her, I immediately recognized her as my ex-girlfriend, Y/N.
“Lin…” she smiled, clearly thrown off from running into me. “It’s so nice to see you.”
“You too.” I smiled back. I knew she was nominated tonight for best actress, just like she probably knew I had been nominated for best original song. Still, with so many people there, I didn’t expect to run into her so quickly.
She appeared to be there alone, only her publicist at her side.
My mom recognized her as well, hugging her.
“It’ so good to see you, Y/N. You look beautiful.”
“Thank you, Luz, so do you.”
There was an awkward pause. I couldn’t think of anything to say to her and she appeared to feel the same way.
“Well good luck tonight.” she finally said. “I hope you win.”
“You too.” I managed, letting her enter before me.
I gave my mom a knowing look once Y/N was gone.
“You two were so perfect together, I still can’t believe she broke up with you.”
I sighed, thinking the same thing. “I guess some things were more important to her.”
With that, I opened the door for my mom and let her walk in first, following close behind. It was best not to dwell.
It was my first time at the Academy Awards, so I knew going in that I’d be an underdog and I certainly wasn’t expecting to win—I was already so honored to be nominated.
When they announced my category, though, I could still feel my hands shaking. There was always that possibility.
When they said my name, I didn’t even have to pretend to be genuinely shocked. The crowd erupted with applause as I stood up, hugging my mother and kissing her on the cheeks, then rushing to hug my dad across the aisle before heading onto the stage.
The presenters handed me my award and I could feel my emotions rushing to the surface.
I had to hold back my tears as I started speaking, thanking my family, my amazing co-writers on the production, and shedding some lights on the ACLU and the work they were doing for human rights all over the country.
I thanked everyone once again and headed backstage to the press room.
My publicist lead the room, allowing a certain amount of questions one at a time. I answered them with pride; humbled, honored to receive such an award.
I made it back to my seat in time for Best Actress, which Y/N was nominated for.
Despite our harsh break-up, I still wanted her to win. I knew how much the award meant to her and I wanted her to be happy. Being one of the few black women to win such a prestigious award would mean so much not only to her but to young women of color everywhere.
They announced her name, the crowd erupting with applause once again as she stood up on the other end of the theatre and headed to the stage.
“Oh, good for her.” I heard my mom say.
She was also crying as she started her speech, desperately trying to compose herself and say thank you to everyone to helped her get there.
She headed backstage to the press room, and they moved on to announce best actor, best director, and best picture.
When the award show concluded, my family and I relocated to the Governor’s Ball. I knew Y/N would be there, so I made plans to congratulate her at some point.
After dinner, I headed into the trophy engraving room with my award.
To my surprise, Y/N was already in there, waiting for her own award. I only saw her back, her gorgeous black curls tied back into an updo.
“Congratulations,” I started, approaching her from behind. She smiled when she turned to see me.
“And to you. You really deserved it.”
“So did you.” I handed my award off to the engraver behind the counter who was still working on Y/N’s award. A waiter approached us, offering us each a glass of champagne. It was a rare brand, some special drink they only served to winners inside the room.
I took a glass and she took her own. We toasted to our success and took a sip.
“So,” she started. “If I know you, you brought all of your immediate family. I didn’t see them, but I’m sure your dad and sister are out there somewhere.”
I chuckled. Even when we weren’t together, she still seemed to know me so well.
“You’re right. They’re out there. Probably taking selfies with anyone who will let them.”
We both laughed at the thought.
“So how have you been?” I finally asked. “I mean since I last saw you. Did you come here alone?”
She nodded slowly, looking down at her glass. I could tell based on her reaction that I’d hit a sensitive subject.
“Things aren’t great in my family right now… so I decided to come alone. More of the same drama, you know the story.”
I nodded slowly. “It’s too bad, I know how much this award meant to you. It’s hard not to have someone to share it with.”
“I have you, don’t I?” she finally said.
I could feel my heart beating fast, a smile forming at her words.
“You absolutely have me.” I agreed, placing my hand on top of her own that was resting on the bar for added effect.
There was a loud noise coming from the other room followed by the screams of several people. More loud noises, and more screams.
“What is that?” She moved toward the door cautiously, attempting to peek out.
“Fireworks?” I suggested as the noise was certainly loud enough.
Three people ran into the room, huddling in the corner.
“I don’t think those are fireworks Lin, I think those are—” her words cut off at the sound of more loud noises.
A security guard ran in, his black suit now stained with blood.
“Gunshots.”
I could feel my heartbeat in my ears. The wave of terror that washed over Y/N’s face was sudden but certainly valid.
“Someone is shooting a gun out there.” The security guard closed the door to the room, locking it so that no one else could get inside. He stayed by the door, turning to face everyone in the room.
“We need to stay in here until it’s safe.”
My family came to mind then, still out there in the main room.
I ran up to the door, attempting to get past him. He wouldn’t allow me.
“Are you crazy?” he demanded.
“My family is out there!” I insisted.
“Do you want to die with them?” he shot back.
“Lin,” Y/N tried to pull me away from the door. “We need to stay safe. I’m sure your family found their way out safely. You can’t go out there, you’ll die.“
There were more gunshots, even louder than the ones before. The gunman was approaching the room.
“Everyone hide!” the security guard insisted. “You two, get under the bar!”
I grabbed Y/N’s hand, pulling her around to the underside of the bar. We sat beside each other. She was shaking; I could tell she was terrified. In an attempt to calm her nerves, I wrapped my arms around her.
This seemed to help. I kissed her temple softly, which she seemed to be okay with as well.
Y/N started crying, frantic. I covered her mouth with my hand, knowing her sobs could potentially give away our location. I did everything I could to try and calm her down; shushing softly in her ear, whispering that it’s going to be okay.
Y/N pushed my hand away suddenly. “I’m so sorry I broke up with you,” she whispered.
Her words caught me by surprise. Much as I wanted to respond, to tell her that I wish we’d never broken up and that I still had feelings for her,  I knew doing so would be a bad idea. I tried shushing her again, but she continued.
“I still love you. I’m so sorry, Lin.”
This time, I covered her mouth again. I hoped a kiss on her cheek would acknowledge that I heard what she was saying and agreed, but I wasn’t sure. I tried it anyway.
There was a sound of a struggle for a moment before the door burst open. From the angle we were at we couldn’t see, only hear. Another shot, and someone groaning in pain.
For a moment we caught a glimpse of the gunman from underneath the bar. A white guy, not dressed for the occasion, clearly coming in from the outside. He searched the room looking for someone but didn’t see us.
Still, we were both shaking, terrified as he continued to pace the room. He must’ve found the three people that ran in and hid in the corner because three more gunshots rang out.
He left then, searching for more people outside.
Y/N put her arms over mine, holding my hands against her heart with my arms still wrapped around her. She was still short of breath but seemed thankful to have me with her.
We weren’t sure what was going on outside, if the gunman was nearby or not, nor did we have any way of finding out. We waited, arms around each other, hidden under the bar, silent for two hours.
Finally, there was a voice of someone calling out, a police officer asking if anyone was alive.
I looked at Y/N, who glanced back at me.
I stepped out from under the bar, hands up, to identify myself as a survivor.
In the room, there was an array of dead bodies near the door. I tried to look up and make eye contact with the approaching person; doing so was better than looking down at the horrific sight.
The cop approached me and asked if anyone else was with me.
Y/N stood up beside me then.
“Is that it?” the cop asked, receiving a nod from both of us.
He used his radio to contact someone, who told him to bring us outside.
Y/N took my hand before we went anywhere, squeezing tight. I squeezed back.
We headed out through the main room. What was once a grand formal event full of people had now become completely empty. Tables flipped over, flowers destroyed, and an array of bodies covered up by sheets. I forced myself to look straight ahead and hoped Y/N was doing the same.
Seeing the bodies made me think of my family, who at the moment was nowhere to be found. Once we were outside, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. It had died. I cursed at myself for using it so much before the show.
The police officer who lead us outside brought us both to an ambulance where a paramedic was waiting to give us medical care.
They checked our vitals, but ultimately decided allowed us to go as neither of us had been shot.
While they searched for other survivors, Y/N and I sat out on the curb together.
“Can I ask you something?” I started, arguably more nervous then than I was when I had first arrived.
Y/N nodded, looking up at me.
“Why did you say that you were sorry for breaking up with me?”
Y/N seemed weary, hesitant to speak. I offered my hand to her. She took it, and seemed more confident after the fact.
“Honestly I… I was so stupid. My manager pressured me into breaking up with you. He said dating a nobody wouldn’t help my career.”
I chuckled.
“Clearly he couldn’t see the future,” she added. “Still, I believed his bullshit. I put my career before you, and all it did was cause me to lose you. Which was pointless considering how successful you ended up anyway. It’s the biggest regret I’ve ever had.”
It wasn’t easy to hear the truth, but I understood why she did what she did. I couldn’t blame her—even I didn’t know that my success would reach this point.
“So you made a mistake,” I concluded, squeezing her hand. “That was then. What about now?”
“Now that things have been put into perspective, I’d really love another chance.”
I moved her hand up to my face, kissing it softly.
“So would I.”
Another officer approached, having found our awards inside the trophy engraving room. He was seeking to return them and had apparently used a recording of the show for reference.
While Y/N’s was completely engraved, mine was only half finished. It had “Lin-Man” listed over “Best Original Song.”
“I sure am glad they managed to get my name right.” I showed her the half-engraved trophy. She giggled in response before glancing at her own.
“You know, I gave you up for this award, but this was not worth watching so many people die at the hands of a white terrorist.”
“I agree.”
It was quiet for a moment. Y/N’s hand was still in mine. It felt nice.
“Lin!”
I looked up to find my family approaching, all three of them unharmed. I got up, running to hug all of them at once.
“Oh my god, I’m so glad you guys are all okay! I was so worried—”
“We tried calling you!” his mother pointed out. “We couldn’t get a hold of you.”
“My phone died!”
My parents noticed Y/N still sitting on the curb and went over to hug her as well.
“Y/N, we’re so glad to see that you’re safe.”
“She was with me the whole time.” I pointed out. “I’m not sure I would’ve made it through all that without her.”
They were incredibly grateful to hear that. My sister insisted we all go back to the hotel, which sounded amazing considering everything that we’d been through that night.
As my family headed back toward the main road to wait for a cab, I saw Y/N still waiting behind.
“Hey,” I offered my hand to her again. “You should come with us.”
“Oh no, it’s fine. I’ll head back to my hotel as soon as I find my publicist.”
“Y/N, come with us. You shouldn’t be alone right now. No one should.”
She hesitated for a moment, but eventually took my hand and headed back to the hotel with us.
That night, she fell asleep beside me. Among all the horrendous, dark things that had happened that evening, she was the one shining beacon of hope.
