podficcing woes

so i says to myself, Self, do you wanna redo some podfic done three years ago with better voice-work, because i know you care about that and also you need a fucking project to keep the weather from driving you crazy?

and Self says, that sounds awesome. hey, do you remember that one from three years ago that's half an hour long, and two fics spliced together because they're closely related and also they're fully SFXed which means you had some extreme dynamic range to deal with when switching scenes and also there's a fucking air raid?

and i say, yeah. shit, that took a long time to do.

we should do that, says Self.

If you want to see what i'm talking about?

So describing this thing... this is the display of the Digital Audio Workstation I use - those coloured blocks in the middle are visuals of the samples I was working with. Big controls are up in the toolbar overhead. Track specific controls are in that left column - the volume slider bar, for example, and that high-lighted M means the selected track is currently on mute. The bar on the bottom holds Play, Pause, Stop, and Record buttons, a timestamp, and a thumbnail of the project as a whole. Each white block in that thumbnail represents one of the coloured blocks you see on the main screen only all of it, everywhere, all at once.

Yes, that is a quite complicated thumbnail.

I AM LITERALLY FROTHING AT THE MOUTH OVER LITERALLY ONE FRAME.

Because, see, in the first frame Darling’s expression is just one of concern, right, because this is obviously a very tense situation for everyone and Darling’s trying to reassure them the best she can.

BUT, Darling’s expression seems to change when she’s talking about Apple’s happily ever after, which, at this point in the story, everyone thinks will happen because of Daring.

DO YOU SEE THIS? BECAUSE MY DELUSIONAL ASS SURE DOES.

man, like, just the way darling is looking at apple in the second pic; the expression is so lost and hopeless in a way, because she thinks that even if she’ll get apple back, apple will never end up being her true love yk.

THIS SHIT IS GREAT.

Was rewatching EAH on Netflix and this scene is still so funny to me because like there’s just a one second difference between them but they convey two different things.

The first comes off as Darling being proud and happy. I mean look at those soft eyes. She just woke up the damsel in distress, she gets to be Prince Charming, Apple will have no choice but to notice her. She’s the hero of this tale after all.

And then the second Apple says Daring’s name her eyes turn to swords. Like what the fuck really, I’m standing right here next to you, Daring is a mile away?!

Yeah, boy kissed you awake and then ran the fuck over there in the span it took for you to open your dumb yet infuriatingly beautiful blue eyes!

Apple please, if I had a girl like Darling ready to be my Prince I’d be on my knees thanking god.

Something new under the sun - Phoenix

During the cat color tournament, I stumbled into a Russian maine coon breeder's, Natalia Yakhontova (Doma Yahontoff Maine Coons) facebook page (via this messybeast article which got updated since, and know includes phoenix on its own rights), and I found a very interesting, unique new color: phoenix.

The first phoenix cats were born in 2021 august to a black golden tortie mother and a black smoke father, and were believed to be particularly bright goldens.

The parents, Karamel Sanatacun and Ice Cream Dom Sapfiroff

According to the breeder:

в первом помете она дала трёх фениксов,трёх черепах,одного черного золотого кота и одного красного мраморного (In the first litter she [Karamel] gave birth to three phoenixes, three tortoiseshells, one black golden cat and one red blotched cat.)

Obama,a mystery-colored kitten from the first litter, and his siblings.

Along with Karamel, one of the kittens, Obama Iz Doma Yahontoff was tested for several known colors: chocolate and cinnamon, serdolic and amber, and got negative results for all. Obama started to grow up and he looked less and less like a golden cat:

He moved to the Dom Sapfiroff cattery and was paired several different females.

One of Obama's mates, Nicole Kidman of Lionsgate alone and together with Obama. According to the breeders working on the color they are both genetically red (the only difference is the phoenix mutation).

In the last year thanks to Obama the number of phoenix kittens went up quite a bit:

...but there's still too few cats to really understand how this mutation works. There's much too see in future, and I can't wait the learn about it!

Started reading The Bad Wingmen by @topazshadowwolf and @paddie-ut and it utterly possessed me for a few days so I needed to draw some of my favourite bits

#UTDR #UTMV #Dadmare #Dust Sans #Killer Sans #Nightmare Sans #Balance Toriel #You ever read a fanfic so good you have to draw 4 pages worth of moments from it?#I think I probably could have done more but I needed to have some self control so this post wouldn't be enormous lol #I didn't expect to get so invested in this one but the Dust and Killer interactions really fascinate me #They're so chaotic and they get at each other's throats even though they're not that different but they have each other's backs deep down #I'm just. They're brothers your honour and I love to see it #Almost all of these are from one chapter but the whole thing is so good #Fuzzynight is growing on me I'm excited to see more of these two #And don't get me started on Nightmare's unruly kids trying to set him up because they want him to be happy #It's eternally sweet but also hilarious #The real question is are they still grounded now that Nightmare and Lyra have agreed to date?#The answer is almost certainly yes but I feel like they'll still argue they should get a reduced punishment for being right (and helping)#Also I tried to do the dappled sunlight effect you described with the last picture because it was so vivid to me #And I love to see a rare moment of Dust and Killer at peace with each other #Oh my god there are four million tags I'm sorry tldr I love this fic I want to print it out and eat it okay goodbye!!#My Art

‘Whenever somebody gets sick, we never know if the fevers, the watery eyes and noses, the red throats that knife us from within when we swallow, and the coughing that gives us no rest, will come and go or kill us. Every illness is fearsome, a bandit lying in wait ready to take our very lives.

Mine left me for dead, but I lived, though once the fevers had subsided, I found I couldn’t move, and what was left of my voice was a useless croak. Buried alive in my own wretched body I wished to fall asleep and never wake up.

Someone cut a hole in the roof of a house in Capernaum to let me through. The fuss. The fuss! I was so ashamed. Is it not bad enough that I depend on the mercy of others to watch my eyes blink “yes” or “no,” to wipe the crap off my wretched ass and make sure I don’t choke on the broth I sip?

And the nerve of that man—“Get up, pick up your mat, and walk.” Screw him! How cruel do you have to be? Imagine my surprise when instead of merely thinking about punching him in the face I found my fist jerking forward. He caught it with his hand and said, “Get up. It’s all right.”

The damn stretcher was heavier than I thought it would be but the dirt between my toes as I practically danced away, felt so good that to this day I remember little else.’
