Honestly to me their whole tragedy is "the love was there, and it ruined everything"

Two extremely stubborn characters who deep down know what they have is fragile and horrible, but keep holding on with all their might. Owen who knows eventually they'd be found out or killed, and Curt who knows this is eating Owen alive, and yet both of them choose to push it until it breaks.

At any point they could've split up, but they were so in love and desperate for each other it ended up killing both of them eventually.

They weren't doomed by the narrative, they were doomed by each other yknow

i feel like people saying curtwen were always doomed to fail (like a previous anon sorry for the callout) cheapens the tragedy a little bit? like part of the reason it hurts so much is that it really didn't have to be this way. they COULD have been happy if things didn't go the way they did.

idk i find myself a lot more compelled by the idea that things COULD have been better, but they aren't.

i said i'd post something for this, didn't i? suppose i'd best deliver. probably gonna be long, so, there's more in-depth information under the cut.

the nonhuman characters: Owen, Curt, Tatiana, Barb, and The Informant (yeah i'm dramatic and color-coded their names).

Owen:

Owen is a vampire. he was either turned shortly after he started working for MI6, or he's a couple hundred years old. that's about all I have for him. I haven't spent much time thinking about what he's up to. he can't die, though, so dwell on that. post The Fall, he only uses silver bullets, because he is a petty fuck. OH AND HE CAN FLY. i guess

Curt:

Curt is a werewolf. Cynthia knows this, but she hasn't told him. however, it's not difficult to figure out when he asks for a day or two off every month during or around the full moon. he barks at people sometimes. (he starts barking during one more shot)

Tatiana:

woah, i actually have more information on this one! Tatiana is a rusalka. she drowned when she was 16. she doesn't remember many specifics about the event, but she knows that it happened on one of her missions. she's always cold, and can negatively impact the temperature in rooms when she's angry or upset. also maybe she drowned some people. in her defense, she is a rusalka.

Barb:

she is an elf! i don't know much else. i love her though. she knows that the main gang are non-human, but she doesn't know the specifics for all of them.

The Informant:

shapeshifter :)

uh. i think you all can tell who i think about the most. sorry. tatiana is my silly and i think about her too much.
