The clicking of the camera button, plus the flicker from the flash were what drew Dani's attention away from what she was reading, seeing your smile from the corner of her eye as you tested out your new camera. Finishing her email, Dani smiled at how your tongue peeked out from between the corner of your lips, an intensity flickering in your eyes as you adjusted the camera's focus onto the details of the flowering plant sat on the chest of drawers.

Dani's chair creaked as she shifted, slipping out of her seat to approach you, her arms wrapping around your waist from behind as she gently pulled you into her.

A hum echoed from your lips as Dani pressed hers against your cheek, her hand delicately taking the camera from your grasp.

"What are you-oh!" You squeaked as Dani turned you around, nudging you backwards until the backs of your knees hit the mattress, followed by the rest of you with a thump.

Staring up at your lover, Dani straddled your thighs as she held the camera up to look through the lens at you.

"These photos, I'm keeping," she declared with a grin pressing the shutter release a few times before looking over the end results, the photos of you splayed out on the bed looking up at her, leaving you with warm cheeks and a shy smile as you met her smirk.

Early mornings in LA with nowhere to be were rare, but peaceful. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the kitchen as you tried to work the waffle maker, a gift from your friend when you and Dani moved in together.

Lips running up from your exposed shoulder up your neck until Dani could kiss your cheek distracted you as you tried to extract the waffle from the machine.

"Morning, baby," Dani smiled, her breath fanning your cheek as you brought your slightly burnt fingers up to your lips, glaring at the waffle as it haphazardly landed on the plate.

"Morning... um, do you want that waffle or..." You trailed off, glaring slightly at the waffle maker this time, eyes softening as Dani chuckled, one hand around your waist as relieved you of yourwaffle duties.

Leaning into her warmth, Dani pressed down the waffle maker's lid with one hand, the other taking your offering of a cup of coffee with a loving facial expression.

Dani sipped her coffee with a smile, which widened as she watched you attempt to extract the next waffle from the waffle maker, the waffle barely landing on the plate as you grumbled under your breath, eliciting a grin and a kiss on the forehead from Dani in response.

The hotel rooms sheets were stiff as you tugged at them, trying to get them to follow you as you rolled over in bed, arm reaching out to emptiness.

Patting around the empty bed, you pushed your head from the pillow, hearing the toilet flush and the bathroom door open and shut again.

The sheets rustled as the other person slipped back into bed, her arm wrapping around your waist as your face pressed into the pillow again.

"For a minute there, I thought you'd left," voice muffled by the pillow, it took saying it again for Dani to hear what you said, her fingers running across your cheekbone as you looked at her sleepily.

"I'm not going anywhere... when are you and Atlas heading back to film the next season?" Dani's hand moved to trace patterns into your hip, the exposed skin peeking out between the rough sheets that you had thrown off of yourself.

"We start filming in August, to start being broadcast in November, or something like that... I'm staying for while, if you'll have me?" You explained, pulling the pillow closer to you as Dani shuffled closer, a soft smile on her face.

"That would be amazing..." Dani leaned into kiss your forehead, a soft snore coming from you that left her smile, deciding that she'd kiss you properly in the morning, when you'd both had enough sleep.

It had been Micah's idea to grab something to eat for lunch after he and Dani had gone on a run through the park.

Carrying the food truck packages of food through the park towards a bench, Dani laughed as Micah chose to sit on the grass instead, moving over to join him as the sun shimmered down over the park.

A tingling up the back of Dani's neck left her glancing around at her surroundings, her eyes drifted over someone reading a murder mystery book on a bench, a young couple with their toddler in a pushchair heading up the path, and a man in a suit walking past on his phone, briefcase in hand.

Taking a forkful of her lunch into her mouth, Dani raised an eyebrow as someone sat next to the individual on the bench, the two grinning at each other as the murder mystery book was bookmarked and closed, Micah cleared his throat, breaking Dani's focus as she turned to look at him.

"What do you think, Agent?" Agent Atlas enquired, getting straight to the point as they picked up your book, glancing over the blurb and pretending all was normal.

"She just as in the dark as everyone else." You concluded, watching Dani from the corner of your eye as your face melted into a frown - this was a waste of time, and not fair on Dani at all.

"Then this undercover operation will be finished quickly, and we can go back to HQ." Atlas replied, opening the book to reveal the device inside, showing you the message as you grimaced - it wasn't over.

"Going somewhere more private?" Gigi teased the vampire, smiling slightly as she noticed the little crinkle of a frown between Dani's eyebrows, watching her eyes glance around, like she was looking for something in the cafe window.

"There, them... what do you think?" Dani hesitated, the little crinkle disappearing as Dani pointed someone out.

You.

"They're cute, are they human?" Gigi tilted her head slightly, eyes bright with curiosity as Dani chewed her lip in thought.

"Yes... but, their smell, I've never smelt anything like it, it was almost intoxicating, not a glimpse of fear in their eyes when they saw my fangs either... I wanted more than to just feed, that's never happened before, with a human," releasing her bottom lip from her teeth, Dani met Gigi's gaze with an eyebrow quirked in worry.

"Humans are rare, especially in LA, but your reaction, it was more than a desire to feed, you wanted more than a walking blood bag," her nose crinkled up at the thought, smile widening as the werelioness watched Dani's gaze follow you... the vampire had no idea she was smitten.

All the stress from dealing with her dad, with Sophie, the aftermath of Bette's campaign, and the Núñez family business meant Dani had forgotten one very important thing for a vampire.

She'd forgotten to feed.

Hurrying down the LA road, the streetlights flickered on as she slipped down an alleyway, hoping she could find a back-alley blood bank or something, her nose tingling as a scent wafted her way.

She'd never smelt someone so interesting before, your perfume, or whatever fragrance you were wearing, enchanting her, spotting you exit the little cafe's side door to take out the rubbish.

Speeding over, Dani's fangs protruded from her gums as she pressed you against the doorframe, her teeth near your neck before she pulled back, staring into your eyes, why didn't you scream?

"What are you?" You whispered, glancing over the woman who frowned at the lack of fear in your eyes, breathing in your perfume as she contemplated.

Why weren't you afraid of her?

"and when I felt like I was an old cardigan, under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favourite..." the Folklore album played through your earphones as you stared up at the empty bookcase, biting your lip in thought.

Balancing the Greek mythology hardbacks on your hip, you turned your head to acknowledge the chin now resting on your shoulder, and the cheeky smirk on Dani's face as she stole your mug of tea.

You brewed it better, she said.

Either way, you playfully rolled your eyes, placing the hardbacks you were holding on the chosen shelf, holding them up with one hand as you grabbed more books to stop the possible avalanche of books from falling on you.

A shiver ran down your neck that had the hair sticking up on end as a cold blast of the air-conditioning hit you, leaving you to retreat from the bookcase quest and to your new quest.

Wrapping the cardigan around your figure, you leaned into Dani's warmth as her arms went around your waist.

The two of you swayed slightly, the music through your earphones as a guide through the piles of books that were scattered around, the bookcase quest forgotten about as the two of you swayed to mirrorball from the Folklore album, "standing on my tallest tiptoes..."

"Wow, the bruising looks so real, you can even see the colour change as it heals!" Jordi pointed out as she and Angie watched the most recent episode of the show you and Atlas were in together at Dana's that afternoon.

You grimaced as the bruise on your nose in the show was pointed out, fingers touching your nose at the memory that left Dani raising her eyebrow, realisation in her eyes as Atlas passed you a mug of tea, passing the other to Gigi, who took it with a soft smile.

"Wait, that bruise..." Dani gently reached out, glancing over the tv screen before her fingers hooked under your chin to cradle your face.

"It was an actual bruise, that scene where I get my nose busted? It actually got busted by accident as we were filming, it threw off the filming schedule but we managed to film in a way that it healed over the episodes... and when we did past episodes, hair and makeup saved me..." you whispered, lowering your voice so Angie and Jordi didn't hear any potential spoilers.

"Does Bette know they're seeing the episode here?" Gigi enquired, her attention on the scene as Atlas' character appeared on the scene.

"I texted Bette, and Angie said she did too, and you two talked to Tess and Shane, who are in the office..." Dani trailed off, biting her lip slightly as you snuffled a laugh, turning up the volume of the show quickly.

Two gasps had you and Atlas sharing knowing glances, looking at the screen as Angie and Jordi turned to the two of you, "cliffhanger, seriously?" and "do you know what happens next?" being immediately asked, leaving Atlas to playfully shrug as you gestured that your lips were sealed.

"What happened to you?" Atlas observed as you drew a breath, trying to steady your beating heart as your hand rested on your collarbone.

"Well, I learnt first-hand why it's not recommended for humans to go out at night... I'm fine, I just took the trash out at the cafe, and this, fanged fatale corners me, she was- I don't know, I just couldn't take my eyes off of her..." You rambled, your hands moving frantically to gesture as you explained how your evening had gone.

"I take it she was pretty gorgeous then?" Atlas teased, but her smirk faded as she saw the far away look in your eyes, shuffling in her seat to get a better look at you.

"What did this vampire look like anyway, besides utterly attractive- wait, she didn't bite you, did she?" Atlas rambled, worry overpowering her teasing as she glanced over your neck, seeing no evidence of any bite marks.

"No, she, she let me go," staring off across the living room, you zoned out as you tried to cast every detail of the attractive vampire to memory.

"She let you go, a hungry vampire, let you go?" Atlas retorted, voice thick with disbelief as questions began to fill her mind: what the hell was so special about you?

"You got enough sun cream? I'm surprised they even let us have a day off at the beach... thought they'd be too afraid we'd end up with sunburn or tans and mess up the continuity." You rambled, chewing your lip as Atlas raised an eyebrow, looking at you through her sunglasses.

"Yeah, yeah, I know... you spoken to Gigi recently?" You enquired, shrugging as Atlas quirked her eyebrow even more, leaving you to just nod and look away.

Further down the beach, two young children, possibly twins, were building sandcastles, scooping piles of sand with plastic shovels into brightly coloured buckets, patting down the sand then flipping the bucket over to reveal the castle.

Turning your head, you hid your smile as you realised Atlas was also observing the twins, instead picking up your phone to check for messages.

"Seeing if Dani has messaged?" Atlas smirked, laughing as you looked at her like you had been caught red-handed.

"She hasn't, for your information," sticking your tongue out, you smiled at your best friend, distracted from your heartache over Dani in the process.

"Wanna get an ice cream?" Atlas suggested, gesturing to the ice cream shop that was near the beach, smiling as your eyes lit up at the mention of ice cream, the two of you getting up to walk over there quickly, sunglasses and baseball caps disguising the two of you.
