Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Critical Role (Web Series) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Percival "Percy" Fredrickstein Von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III/Vex'ahlia, Zahra Hydris/Kashaw Vesh, Scanlan Shorthalt/Pike Trickfoot Characters: Percival "Percy" Fredrickstein Von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III, Vex'ahlia (Critical Role), Scanlan Shorthalt, Pike Trickfoot, Grog Strongjaw, Keyleth (Critical Role), Kashaw Vesh, Zahra Hydris, Bobby Socks (Critical Role), Sarge (Critical Role), Bramble (Critical Role) Additional Tags: Minor Original Character(s), Fluff, Humor, Suggestive Themes, Red Nose Day One-Shot Characters, Minor Spoilers, Post-Campaign 1 (Critical Role), Pre-Episode: Dalen's Closet (Critical Role), Post-Episode: The Search For Bob (Critical Role) Series: Part 43 of D's Critical Role Stories
Summary: Kashaw messed up a dragon egg delivery. Zahra prompted Vox Machina to remedy that mistake for them. Their group journeyed through the Shattered Teeth after they watched Scanlan reunite with his former band The Glorious Ones.
Excerpt:
After their shopping trip, Vex hooked an arm around Pike, and they met up with their party. They were huddled around three wide ATVs, chatting and waiting for these two mamas. Keyleth gave a hum in approval at Vex’s suave shirt design and petted that Sarge decal. Grog noted, scratching his bald head, “Pfft, he’s a’ight. Little scrawny fellow though.” “Hm, never pegged you as such a fanatic of that warlock, my darling wife.” “Oh, my goodness, me, is that your jealousy I see, Percival?” “Excuse me, Vex’ahlia.” He scoffed, standing a bit taller, “I am most certainly not jealous of that overhyped percussionist.” “Mm-hm.” She prompted, fingertips gingerly grazing his hatched-scarred wrist, “And what would you do with me if you dallied into what you’ve once called a childish emotion, milord?” The group groaned in unison, stepping a good distance away. He indulged her teasing with whispers of fun and cheeky post-show plans. Given the fact that his wife vomited a few moments, he pecked her slight ear point.

so i watched episode 36 of campaign 3, saw my loves, screamed with my friends, then realized. god. this is like... the worst day ever for percy. imagine you’re just enjoying a quiet morning when your past trauma walks in through your office door with new faces. yikes.
i also saw some discourse about percy’s characterization in this episode, and thought i’d throw in my two cents in the form of a charcater study
title: all this bad blood here (won’t you let it dry?)
rating: teen and up
word count: 2.6k
genre: character study, introspection, weird lowercase ramblings but i do them while in character. also a dash of hurt/comfort for my tired boy
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR CAMPAIGN 3 OF CRITICAL ROLE. ALSO SPOILERS FOR CAMPAIGN 1, INCLUDING THE DALEN’S CLOSET ONE-SHOT
•  •  •
percy is trying to be a good man.
he is a good man, sometimes. saying anything less would be discrediting vex, who has been telling him for over three decades that he is a good man. it is something she believes, and something he has been slowly convinced of.
but he knows - and vex knows - that no matter how good of a man he may or may not be, he is not a selfless man.
he is not altruistic. his heart does not bleed at every person’s sharp-edged grief, blades in their hands and eyes and words. he does not let them get close enough. he does not bleed out at the cries of the masses, throwing himself into the crowds, as keyleth does; he does not bleed out at the individuals who collapse at his door, holding them close, as pike does; he does not allow each a shallow cut at his chest, droplets of blood in a trail of goodwill, as vex does.
he will scratch his skin and bleed for his city. he will cut himself open and bleed out for his family. but he has nothing but sympathy - nothing except for sympathy - for those he does not know who have faced misfortune.
(it comes to everyone, eventually, and he’s had more than his share of it. the only blood spilled, then, was that of his family.)

Masterpost
Chronicling what I have and haven't watched so far, partly to keep track of things myself and partly to do my best to curb spoilers (not that I'm that great at avoiding them myself). Will update as I go along.
Watched:
All of Campaign 1
VM-related One-Shots: Grog's One-Shot, The Search For Grog, The Search For Bob, Dalen's Closet, The Adventures Of The Darlington Brigade
All of Campaign 2
MN-related One-Shots: The Mighty Nein Reunited (Parts 1&2), Echoes Of The Solstice
Most Battle Royales up to VM vs M9 (don't care much about spoilers on those I haven't watched though)
Other One-Shots: Liam's Quest, The Return of Liam, Liam's Quest: Full Circle, Thursday by Night 1 & 2, The Song of the Lorelei, Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Crystal Palace, Cinderbrush: A Monsterhearts Story, Night Before Critmas
Exandria Unlimited: Calamity
The Legend Of Vox Machina
Exandria Unlimited
Exandria Unlimited: Kymal
Candela Obscura Chapter 1 - 3
Honey Heist 1
A Familiar Problem
All of Narrative Telephone
Watching:
Campaign 3
Candela Obscura Chapter 4
I usually watch new episodes on Friday or Saturday, depending on what time I have. No spoilers earlier than that please, but once you see me posting about it, feel free to jump in.
I tag new episodes with #cr spoilers for a week after the initial broadcast and #c3eXX with specific episode numbers for longer than that. Older stuff is tagged with the campaign’s party name/the party the character(s) in the post belongs to, which overlap sometimes.

so if I want to watch Critical Role...where is the best place to start in the main campaigns? should I just go back from the beginning of Campaign 1?
So you wanna start watching critical role!!! Welcome to this insane fandom be prepared for utter chaos.
If I were you, the first thing I would do (if you haven’t already) is watch season 1 of the legend of vox machina. The show does an incredible job of summing up everything you need from the first arc of C1 without having to deal with the teething problems the stream itself faced in its first year or so. The first episodes of campaign 1 are difficult to deal with for a lot of reasons - mainly audio issues, out of game drama (which is a whole other fucking thing I can tell you about if you want to know), and poor set design. TLOVM will give you all the crucial bits from those early episodes, and will contain other bits of information you’ll want going into C2 and C3.
Following that, which campaign you decide to watch first is going to be down to you. I started on C2 and utterly fell in love, but there is nothing stopping you from starting with C1 (so long as you’re willing to deal with the teething problems for 15 or so episodes), C2 or C3!
Since C3 is currently our main source of content, and is early enough in its arc to not be super intimidating to catch up on, if I were you I would hop straight into the start of C3 after watching TLOVM. Either that, or start with something even smaller, like EXU (the original EXU!) which has an 8-episode arc and takes place just before C3 with some character overlap.
If you’d like a general lowdown on the characters or story content (without spoilers) of each campaign so you can figure out which one you wanna jump into first I am more than happy to provide that info, just let me know.
So, final recommendations:
- watch TLOVM S1 (not completely necessary but highly recommended for background info, especially if you’re gonna start with C3)
- Either start CR proper with EXU or C3
P.S. Timeline for reference and in case you want to watch in chronological order:
- EXU Calamity
- C1, Vox Machina
- Vox Machina one shots (search for grog/Bob, dalen’s closet)
- C2, Mighty Nein
- EXU
- C3, Bells Hells E1-16
- EXU Kymal (timeline overlap)
- C3, Bells Hells E17 ->

I'll absolutely take you up on messaging about cr! (do you prefer here or your main??) And same goes - i'd love to hear what you think about where you are in c1 or the live campaign!! Since I'm getting through it so fast I think im going to hold off on watching live until I catch up, but i see bits and pieces about it on here.
I like the storyline so far - I generally know the broad strokes of what is going to happen (lol I cant help spoiling things for myself) but I was just at the bit where Percy was seemingly going to stab Asum/Raishan which could have been a wild, wild turn of events if she'd been there. Plus the fact that that all happened during the halloween episode (which, wow, it was hard to take some of them seriously with their costumes). Now i'm at the bit where they're trying to figure out the larger plan with the armies/luring Thordak/etc. I'm excited to see this play out but also excited to see how things turn out with Vecna.
That's exciting that you're almost at the end! When you do finish (free time depending, I assume) are you planning on continuing to c2?
hey friend nice seeing you back!
you can message me anywhere i mostly post about shows here tho~
oh im very caught up with c3 lmao i started it since the beginning cause i wanted to get into cr before it started and it was just an excuse lmao
c1 i started in december cause i had a lot of important tests i had to take and i wanted to focus on thos first so it took me a while but now im almost at the end (still 5eps to go but once i get more free time im excited to finish it!)
also that part with raishan was great! shes my favorite villain of all time so far... i love a good alliance with someone you hate and keyleth being my favorite pc makes it even better because she absolutely hates raishan
the thordak fight was great and i hope you enjoy the rest of the chroma conclave arc cause i think it was one of the best ones!
and yeah! i do plan on watching c2 because i also know a lot about it since i see a bunch of clips from it and i dont mind spoilers but it might take me longer to get to it since i want to watch the one shots that happen in between
ive watched dalens closet before but it didnt have the same impact so im going to rewatch it and i still havent seen the search for grog and bob
i might also try to watch some dimension20 in the meantime because they have shorter stories and brennan and aabria are great dms so i want to see more of them!
how about you? planning on watching c2 once you finish c1? when you start c3 too you can scream about it to me huabwuabsu i love seeing reactions to the clusterfuck that is the bells hells!

I mean, getting yeeted off a cliff by a vampire and drowning is quite possibly the most on-brand thing that could’ve happened at this particular couple’s wedding.

to have and to hold
They wave off the idea of any further celebration for the night, Percy ignoring the disappointed groans of their guests in favor of tending to his wife. Vex is trembling with exhaustion in his arms, and all he wants to do is get her back to their bedroom and their daughter.
Cassandra falls into step with them as they start down the cliff, looping an arm around Vex’s waist to take some of her weight. She smiles sympathetically. “You look dead on your feet, dear.”
Percy and Vex freeze in place, as do most of Vox Machina. Scanlan sucks in a breath, and Cassandra’s eyes widen, horrified.
“Brother, what happened?”
He swallows hard. “Sylas Briarwood.”
His sister’s hands fly up to cover her mouth. “Oh gods. Percival.”
Vex takes her hand gently. “We’ll tell you everything later, Cassandra, I promise,” she says. “What’s important right now is that Sylas is dead. And we aren’t.”
Cassandra nods vigorously, wiping at her eyes. “Right, right of course.” She wraps Vex in a fierce hug. “I’m sorry.”
Vex laughs softly. “For what, darling? Pointing out the obvious? I am fucking exhausted.”
Percy takes that as his cue. “Let’s get you to bed, then, shall we?”
--------
The Blessing of the Dawnfather still hasn’t faded completely by the time they make it back to the hotel, but it’s beginning to dim, the light waning as Vex drifts closer to unconsciousness. Percy stops at the reception desk as Keyleth and Pike usher Vex off to their room.
“I beg your pardon,” he says to the halfling woman behind the desk, “but would you happen to have a laundry service of some kind? My wife and I, ah, found ourselves in the ocean earlier, and we’d like to salvage our clothing if possible.”
“There should be a laundry hamper in your room, sir,” she says pleasantly. “Put whatever needs washing in there, and leave it outside your door. We should have everything back to you by morning.”
“Perfect, thank you,” he says. “And if we could have some hot water sent to room 118 for a bath, that would be greatly appreciated.”
Vex’ahlia is already half-undressed by the time Percy reaches their room, her blouse and jacket in a heap on the floor. She’s on the verge of dozing off in an armchair, Vesper at her breast, nursing contentedly. Her tired eyes meet his as he kneels in front of her to strip off her shoes and leggings. “Hi.”
“Hi.” He leans up to kiss her, grimacing when his hand tangles in her salt-crusted hair. He retreats, busies himself with tossing their things in the hamper and placing it just outside their door. Before he can close the door, an attendant appears with a large basin of steaming water. Percy takes it from him with a grateful smile and sends him off with a generous tip.
Vex’s brow furrows as she watches him heft the basin across the room. “What’s that for, darling?”
“A bath,” he says, trying to keep his voice light.
It doesn’t work. Vex stiffens in her seat, and Vesper begins to fuss, sensing the tension radiating off of her mother. There’s a tremble to her voice. “Percy...”
“I know, my light,” he murmurs, coming up behind her to massage her shoulders. “I know. But we both need one, desperately. We’ll keep your head above the water, I promise.” He kisses the top of her head. “I’ll keep you safe, dearest.”
She relaxes slightly, nods. “Alright.” She tilts her head back to look up at him. “Let me finish up with Vesper, and then I’ll join you.”
Percy takes the basin into the bath chamber, his hands shaking as he fills the tub almost to the brim. He’ll have his chance to fall apart later, more than likely when his dreams bring him visions of his wife sinking to her death as he watches, helpless to do anything. He’ll wake Vex with his screaming, and she’ll soothe his panic away with soft words and softer kisses. Reassure him that she is alive and here and his for eternity.
But tonight, right now, is about her. She’ll collapse against him in the bath, sob and shake until exhaustion takes her. He’ll wake her intermittently, so that she doesn’t drown again. But, for the most part, he’ll simply hold her; hold the body, heart, and soul that she’s entrusted him with and protect it all fiercely.
The light of her blessing has faded by the time Percy steps back into the bedroom to fetch her. She’s laying Vesper down in her crib, humming softly, and he takes a moment to just watch. She is a sight. Her body is littered with bruises, her wrists and ankles chafed raw from the manacles. Her hair is falling out of its braid, hanging in tangled clumps, ocean brine crystallizing in the dark strands. There are deep purple shadows under her eyes, and her legs are trembling with the effort of keeping her upright.
She has never looked more radiant.

Sylas: I’ve hated Percy and Vex since they killed Delilah, and then I saw that engagment announcment in the paper.
Tary: But you could have figured out where the wedding was even without that, right?
Sylas: No, I was trying. I had totally given up, really.
Tary: Oh, gods, what have I done?

alstroemeria, ch. 4
it has been literal months since i updated this!! my bad!! i’ve got a queue of prompts tho so hopefully i’ll have more updates... semi-soon. anyway, this is for @blorbologist who gave me the prompt “kissing a naked shoulder” which i turned... a lot fluffier and angstier than i think either of us expected
title: for reassurance
rating: general (despite the prompt lol)
word count: 1.2k
genre: established relationship, family cuteness, hurt/comfort but the hurt happened previously and isn’t prominent here
warning for tlovm fans!! this contains spoilers for events in the vox machina campaign after the current timeline of the show!! i hesitate to call them major spoilers but they’re certainly not minor. also spoilers for the dalen’s closet one shot if you haven’t seen that yet but have seen the campaign

If Percy had a platinum for every time he had a wedding with no reception, he would have two platinum. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
After the ceremony - scrabbled together on a clifftop, blood and sweat mixing with tears (joyful ones, thankfully) - Pike had quietly assured the two of them that she would take care of explanations and apologies, freeing them to return to their daughter. Percy’s hushed “thank you” was nothing compared to Vex, who’d picked Pike up and spun her around in a tight, glowing hug.
Vex is still glowing, now, although it’s faint - absently, Percy marvels that it has been less than an hour since she’d strode blindingly up the rocky path, burning Sylas to the painful ash that he deserved - as she gathers Vesper in her arms, murmuring to her in that soft, sweet voice she only uses with their daughter. It floors him every damn time.

Do you think when Vax came sauntering in all half dead with mushrooms growing off his shoulder at Vex and Percy’s wedding with Keyleth sobbing in the corner, Gilmore was like “whew, dodged a bullet there.”

i miss the OG Vox Machina fight music, like I’m glad they’ve gotten the right to use other stuff in the past...four years, but Five Armies by Kevin McLeod induces a Pavlovian response to fuck shit up at this point
