Do you have any advice for a complete novice wanting to take on a rescue cockatiel (adult but unknown age)? The zoo I work at has a cockatiel I've bonded with. He was originally surrendered by his owner and one of the keepers decided they wanted him so they took him home but then they got a larger parrot and didn't want him anymore so they gave him back to the zoo. He's VERY affectionate and clingy and loves head scritches but everyone is so busy working he doesn't get the attention he's so clearly craving. I'm debating asking them if I could take him home myself but I've never cared for any form of bird in a domestic setting so I have no idea what I'm getting myself into in terms of cost and care requirements. I do also have a cat but I have a big enough home to keep them separate and still give both enough space. I wouldn't normally consider taking an animal from a zoo but the enclosure he's in isn't heated and a lot of the birds in there have died from the cold recently (management is shit here, privately owned American zoo, go figure 🙄) so I'm a bit worried about him.
I'm sorry to hear that the zoo is mistreating and neglecting their birds! While most animals can acclimate to a range of temperatures, the general rule for cockatiels is to stay within the 65-75 degree range (roughly 18-23 degrees Celsius). Dropping too far below that can lead to weakness, decreased appetite, illness, and death. If you think the cockatiel is in immediate danger from cold exposure, then please relocate them to a warmer habitat ASAP. Even if you decide you cannot care for the bird long-term, it is much better for them to be safe than dead as you search for a suitable home, whether that home is with you or someone else.
Here are the basics for cockatiel care:
Make sure you have a flight cage. My local avian rescue lists the absolute minimum requirements as: 24″L x 20"W x 24″H with ½” bar spacing. Pixel's cage is: 31.1"L x 20.4"W x 52.0"H.
Cockatiels need a minimum of 3 hours a day outside their cage, or with their cage door open. They need more than 3 hours in the company of people, which can mean staying in the same room with them whenever you are home, or relocating their cage so they can be near you.
Make sure you eliminate common household hazards: never run a ceiling fan with your bird out of the cage, cover up windows with blinds or add stickers, make sure there are no open water sources, bowls, toilets, etc, cover up exposed wires, monitor your bird when it is outside the cage. NEVER use teflon cookware, candles, air fresheners, perfumes, and aerosol sprays.
Make sure you have a variety of perches. The general rule is to add 2 or 3 action perches (boings, hammocks, and swings) as well as multiple different textured perches (a flat perch, rope, wood, etc.). Offering only plain dowel rods can cause discomfort and arthritis. Always monitor your bird's interactions with action perches before leaving them alone. DO NOT put fleece blankets or cozy huts in the cage. These are a safety issue.
Add a variety of toys including confetti shredders, woodblocks, cardboard, etc. Make sure all are safe for birds and monitor your bird's interactions with toys before leaving them alone.
Fresh water daily. Sometimes multiple times per day if your bird soils it with food, poop, etc.
Spot clean the cage daily, switch out the cage material (newspaper, liners) weekly.
If you are transitioning your bird's diet, you need to do it slowly. Introduce your bird to new food by incrementally mixing it in with the old food. The healthiest diet is to transition your cockatiel from seeds to pellets. Feel free to message me if you need advice on recommended diets/brands.
Cockatiels enjoy fresh leafy greens. Try to feed spinach, broccoli, kale in addition to the normal diet of seeds/pellets.
Cockatiels need about 10 hours of darkness every night to regulate their hormonal cycles. Consider buying a cage cover. Set a schedule for sleep.
You already mentioned it, but never introduce the bird to your cat or any other predatory animal.
More info on budgeting and disclaimers under the cut!
As for costs, they vary. I can itemize what I pay for Pixel's care (not including boarding expenses or the cost of her travel cage):
$80-100: flight cage & $20 for a cage cover (one time expense)
$30 for perches (one time expense)
$30: for food (roughly every 2-3 months, so ~$120 a year)
$30 for nail trims at the vet every 3 months (again ~$120 a year)
$60 for her annual vet exam
$10 a month for additional toys and perches (it varies, but probably totals around $100 a year).
This breaks down to a one-time expense of roughly $130 for the cage setup, and an annual cost of about $400 per year. You also need extra funds saved in the case of illness or emergency.
Now that basic care is out of the way, I have some additional disclaimers about life with a cockatiel:
Cockatiels can live up to 30 years.
Will you be able to spend several hours per day with the cockatiel?
If the cockatiel's needs are still unmet even with your full attention, would you be willing to adopt another cockatiel to keep it company?
Are you sensitive to loud noises? Keep in mind that cockatiels will scream for attention. They also make "contact calls" to locate members of their flock when they are out of sight (in this case, you). If you spend most of your time in the house outside of your cockatiel's sightlines, then you will have a very noisy, frustrated bird!
Is there a nearby avian vet? Can you afford expensive vet bills?
What will you do during the holidays or if you are traveling?
I hope this was helpful. You have a good heart, and I hope the cockatiel finds somewhere warm where they can receive all of the scratches their heart desires! Please don't hesitate to message me if you want more detailed educational materials or explanations.

Leukocytes or nitrites present 75% sensitivity and 82% specificity; all you need for simple cystitis
Culture positive if >10^5 CFU or 10^2 CFUs with symptoms; necessary for pyelonephritis/complicated UTI
CT will show obstruction, calculi, gas-forming infections
Men: STI, prostatitis, urethritis
Tx: Macrobid 100 mg x5 days, Bactrim DS bid x3 days
Pyelo: FQs, CTX, zosyn, cefepime if low risk for MDR
Meropenem, IV FQs, CTX, zosyn, cefepime for high risk MDR
Recurrent UTIs: pyridium, post coital abxs, urogyn referral, daily ppx with Bactrim, Macrobid, or Keflex
Pyelo f/u: PRN, urology, or urogyn f/u
Highest prevalence among uncircumcised males <3 months
In peds pts, enterococcus is not a contaminant in the urine culture as it typically is in adults
You want to avoid renal scarring; any other organism other than E.coli has increased risk of causing renal scarring in kids
US recommended in kids <2 years with first febrile UTI, any age with recurrent UTI, any age with fam hx of kidney/uro disease, poor growth, HTN, failure to respond to tx
Voiding cystourethrogram for anatomical eval and for reasons listed above
Simple cystitis tx:
Infants: cephalosporin; Keflex 50-100 mg/kg qd divided bid x5 days. Allergy? Can use Bactrim, Augmentin, rarely ciprofloxacin
Pts 1 month to 2 years: IV CTX, gentamicin; cefdinir 14 mg/kg qd divided bid x10 days
If no improvement in 48-72 hours, change abxs and pursue imaging
For infants, you need to do f/u imaging if not done in hospital
Pregnant women have acute cystitis, not simple cystitis because pregnant women are not simple
Abxs in pregnancy: beta lactam, Macrobid (not in first trimester), Fosfomycin; duration of therapy is 5-7 days
Bactrim avoided during pregnancy. Cefpodoxime is another one safe in pregnancy.
Pyelo in pregnancy: consider intraamniotic infection and placental abruption; it’s not an indication for delivery. Can tx with IV CTX or zosyn.
You have to recheck UA after treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnant pts; 30% don’t clear it
Macrobid and Bactrim should be avoided in pregnancy; Macrobid more so in the first trimester; avoid Bactrim throughout pregnancy
Febrile neonate: tachypnea, irritability, cyanosis, poor feeding; <1% of term infants have UTIs. Limited data for preterm infants.
Term infants tend to get E. coli. In preterm infants, coagulase neg staph and Klebsiella are more common; really small premies can have candida.
Hematogenous spread can occur in premies.
Neonates: UA, culture, blood culture, lumbar puncture; imaging, voiding cystourethrogram
Broad spectrum abxs in babies: Ampicillin and gentamicin for 10 to 14 days
CTX can increase serum free bilirubinà increased jaundice
Kids can have impaired renal growth that resolved
Catheter Associated UTI = CAUTI; no need to screen unless pt is symptomatic
Pyuria is not enough to diagnose UTI in pts with indwelling catheters; you need a culture, which you compare to previous culture. Percutaneous nephrostomy tubes, stents – get urology involved. Tx with broad spectrum abxs until you get culture results. Tx 7-14 days. Levofloxacin x5 days if not severely ill; 3 days for pts under 65 w/o upper UTI sxs
For transplant pts, there’s more resistance to cipro and Bactrim
For transplant pts with simple cystitis: FQs, 3rd gen cephalosporins x10-14 days; zosyn, meropenem, cefepime if complicated and call ID
Do not screen (these are guidelines, not what we always do): peds pts, functionally impaired adults, long term care facility pts, diabetics, pts w/ renal transplants, pts with spinal cord injuries

Today is the very first day back on my 48 hour fast 500 cal break. I saw great progress on it when i did it last month for nearly two straight weeks so we will see how it treats me thru the rest of the month. Thankfully my mother is also anorexic as fuck anbd my dad has diabetes he is controlling so neither of them eat and will not notice shit about me with how busy they are.
Plus that also means endless streams of protein shakes and shit which help me thru these long fasts like a charm and help boost my energy.
I cant drink energy drinks anymore bc they cause absolute havoc on my GERD so hopefully i can get my mother to buy matcha. love matcha lattes, they kill my appetite on first sip, and they actually give me energy unlie coffee or energy drinks which just fulfill my caffiene addiction needs.
Currently on hour 11.5 for 48 so fingers crossed.
also trying to bribe one of my siblings to let me steal their ps2 bc i hate working out unless its ddr and i can do that shit for HOURS and burn like 400+ calories like nothin'.

Power Distribution Information For House Mining
The Jasminer X4-1U is taken into account to be among the many most energy-efficient Classic Ethereum miners around, which is why it’s among the best ASIC miners cash should buy. Noise levels are just 65 dB, which implies that it may be utilized in residential areas. three GH/s is the hash fee discovered on this miner, which is a great improvement. With Bitmain recognized for creating Bitcoin miners, this Classic Ethereum unit is a game-changer. First, there might be an Innosilicon A10 Pro+ that hummers at 750 MH/s, which is best than this ASIC mining device. The manufacturer – Innosilicon, retails the system with a 121 day payback interval. Being an Ethash algorithm mining tools, it is used to mine Ether. It was launched in 2020 and measures 136 x 282 x 360mm by dimensions. Paraguay is a proverbial bit in the total mining bucket, however. As of September 2021, the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance (CCAF), positioned Paraguay’s hash fee manufacturing at 0.15% of the complete Bitcoin mining community. If you desire a noise free ASIC miner which has hydro cooling function then Antminer S19 Pro + Hyd. For big mining farms, this S19 Pro + Hyd mannequin will work greatest as its design is water- and dust-proof, which helps to improve the lifetime of miner components. As there aren't any fans inbuilt on this S19 Pro model, there is no noise but you will hear little sound of water flowing through the tubes. Before buying S19j Pro for bitcoin mining please undergo the working environments for its trouble free functioning. In February 2022, one Bitcoin mining machine (commonly known as an ASIC), like the Whatsminer M20S, generates around $12 in Bitcoin income every day relying on the worth of bitcoin. Thirteen AMD RX graphics cards value around the same as one Whatsminer M20s. In other words, the more miners (and subsequently computing power) mining bitcoin and hoping for a reward, the harder it becomes to resolve the puzzle. You get an algorithm that uses the Keccak perform and the utilization of cache. It’s some of the efficient algorithms when it comes to producing blocks. The Bitmain Antminer E9 is tailor-made to mine Ether with a hash price of up to 3GH/s. Antminer E3, which operates at 190 MH/s, the InnoSilicon A10 ETHMaster, and the InnoSilicon A10 Pro which has a hash rate of seven-hundred MH/s. This is a key factor behind the high profitability of ASICRUN miners. Mentioned beneath are the projected monthly income for AR1, AR2, and EliteAR. To list the mining hardware on this page, we examined every hardware’s hash fee, efficiency, manufacturer and more. It is feasible to mine Classic Ethereum with all of these devices, however not all are sensible or sensible. Ether ASICs provide a measurable performance increase over graphics playing cards but carry a host of drawbacks in practical usage. The most essential concern is that ASICs can only mine Classic Ethereum and some other coins based mostly on the identical hashing algorithm. However, it’s a low hashrate contemplating the successor comes with a higher hashrate. However, the block you closed and obtained a reward for is not yet confirmed. The block isn't confirmed until 5 blocks later when it has gone via that many validations. Each block incorporates the hash of the earlier block—so when the next block's hash is generated, the earlier block's hash is included. The S9 collection hashes between TH/s, has a daily revenue of $2-$4 (at 6¢/kWh), and an efficiency score of ~ ninety eight W/TH. The knock on affect of this issue is that when a machine has poorly hooked up warmth sinks the good and cozy air does not dissipate away from the microchips. However, miners imagine that the S17 and T17 reflect poorly on Bitmain. Each sort of mining hardware supplies a selected hash price and leads to numerous earnings. In this article, we are going to speak about how USB ASIC miners work and the way worthwhile they're in comparison with other forms of crypto mining hardware. Proof-of-work cryptocurrencies require users to mine the specific coin or token so as to secure the community. And the mining course of usually requires specialised hardware, corresponding to CPUs, GPUs, or a more moderen kind of mining hardware called ASIC. Horizon Miners customer support of ASIC miners are that they use a lot of electrical energy and produce heat. They work greatest in particular situations, similar to inside a warehouse with industrial cooling, and is most likely not appropriate for home miners in giant portions. Compass is a Bitcoin-first company on a mission to help the decentralized progress of hashrate and strengthen community security by helping more individuals study, explore and mine Bitcoin. Since this line by MicroBT just isn't so highly effective, the profitability just isn't so impressive too. The solely merchandise we discovered on the web is new hardware on eBay, which costs $2,590. There are not any available miners on the official website or some other reseller web site. According to the specifications, the M30S++ is ready to function at a hash rate of 110 Th/s and an effectivity of 3,472 W. There are additionally ASIC producers in other nations, but the production volumes are smaller. The AvalonMiner 1246 has a considerable efficiency of 38J/TH to maximize the mining potential. The unit can be designed for a simple deployment, simple upkeep, and features a built-in AI chip. Before going ahead and purchasing an S7, it’s a good suggestion to examine how lengthy it has been in operation to determine how reliable it may be.

Band Tour Bus Estimate
On https://starcoachesinc.com/estimator/
Cost Estimate
daily coach fee - $800 to $1,200, I went w/$800
cost of fuel, I said $3/gallon because that’s around what it was in 2019 (they recommend $5/gallon) - calculates as 6 MPH w/o a trailer and 5 MPH with a trailer
$375 driver daily rate - I went with artist bus/no trailer (vs. $450 for artist bus w/trailer, $325 for crew/band bus w/no trailer, $400 for crew/band bus w/trailer)
Mapped out Sabrina Carpenter’s Emails I Can’t Send Tour, 14569 miles, 65 days (actual tour March-May 2023)
Overdrives - don’t exactly understand this, but it was something about drives over 500 miles - maybe the driver gets overtime?  I said 12.
The total for the tour came out to $134,063.60, or $2,062.52 per day.  48% of that was for the coach, 45% for the driver, 5% for the fuel, and 2% for miscellaneous road expenses.
I skipped
exterior promo wrap is $10,500 + $12,500 for removal and damage repair
$150/day to pull a trailer
charges to get to and from the starting and ending cities, AKA “deadhead miles” - seemed easier and cheaper to just fly (so with this company there would be a charge to get from their home in Atlanta to LA, then back to the first stop of the tour and I skipped all that - mileage, gas, daily driver fee)

Supplements and Healthy Aging for Seniors
You might not know this, but as we age, we need fewer calories to thrive. So, it’s especially important that those calories are rich in nutrients. But here’s the challenge: According to WebMD.com, senior bodies are less efficient at absorbing key nutrients. Seniors can also lose some ability to taste. It’s why they often choose sweet or salty foods first, which aren’t as nutritious.
While food is the best nutrition source according to the National Institute of Health’s Institute on Aging, some seniors might need a boost from supplements. We’ve compiled a list of the best supplements for seniors to discuss with their physician. Together, you can decide if any or all of them would be beneficial to you.
5 Supplements Worth Discussing with Your Doctor
The following list shares five of the best supplements for seniors and also includes foods that are a good natural source of the nutrient. As with any health recommendations, be sure to talk to your doctor before beginning any supplement regimen.
Vitamin B12: When it comes to healthy aging, B12 is essential for optimal brain function, and even a mild deficiency can put you at risk for dementia. Equally concerning, many older adults take medication for acid reflux or to control blood sugar, and these medications can also deplete your B12 level. For these reasons, the Institute of Medicine advises adults over 50 to get most of their B12 from supplements. Check with your physician on the recommended dosage for your needs. Also eat these foods: Fish, meat, poultry, clams, eggs, milk and milk products
Vitamin D: Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption and to protect against illness and infection. It may also help protect against certain diseases like cancer, type 1 diabetes and others. Getting 10 to 15 minutes of sun can help the skin produce Vitamin D. Unfortunately, aging diminishes our ability to absorb it. What’s more, if you don’t go outside often, it’s likely you could be deficient in this important vitamin. Check with your physician on the recommended dosage for your needs. Also eat these foods: Tuna, mackerel, beef liver, cheese, egg yolks, fortified cereals, fortified yogurt, fortified juice
Protein: As you age, it gets harder to build and maintain muscle mass. Why is that important to know for senior health? According to the SHIELD study, muscle mass is essential for a healthy immune system. In fact, adults ages 65+ require higher amounts of protein than young adults, and some can need almost double the amount depending on their nutritional status or if they have an acute or chronic disease. For this reason, protein powder is one of the best supplements for seniors. Adding whey protein powder into a daily shake is a great way to ensure you get the daily requirement. Check with your physician on the recommended dosage for your needs. Also eat these foods: Beef, chicken, beans, almonds
Calcium: Older adults tend to consume less calcium in natural forms like dairy products and certain leafy vegetables. Because it plays a role in maintaining strong bones and fending off fractures. It’s important to take supplements prudently, however, because recent studies by the Mayo Clinic show that too much calcium can  create an increased risk of heart attack. Check with your physician on the recommended dosage for your needs. Also eat these foods: Three servings per day of low-fat milk and other dairy products like yogurt and cottage cheese, kale and broccoli, and juices fortified with calcium. If you can’t consume dairy products, talk to your doctor about whether you should take a supplement.
Potassium: This mineral is essential for proper heart function and bone strength. It has also been shown to reduce the risk of kidney stones, lower blood pressure., and reduce the risk of cancer and digestive disorders, among other benefits. Many diuretics leach potassium out of your system, as does excessive sweating and smoking, among other causes. Check with your physician on the recommended dosage for your needs. Also eat these foods: Bananas, prunes, potatoes, avocadoes, peanuts, citrus fruits, milk, leafy green vegetables
The three vitamins and minerals below are also among the best supplements for seniors. Be sure to include them when you and your doctor discuss what’s best for your health:
Magnesium – helps maintain a strong immune system, a healthy heart and strong bones.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how today went. I'm def going to have to get more of that protein milk, it was really good and didn't have that chalky feeling, and it didn't have heaps of added sugar. The brand was fairlife if anyone is wondering. It has 7g carbs, 5g fat, only 6g of sugar and a whopping 26g protein.
I normally wouldn't add sugar to anything but I ran out of stevia and I was under my carb limit for today so I decided to do it just this once.

DOH reports 2,321 new cases today October 16, adding the nationwide caseload to 3,982,965. The data is under reported since only PCR results are included. DOH also reports 33 new deaths which brings the total death toll to 63,510 ⬆️🚩 The positivity rate for the week of October 9 to 15 is at 14.9%, lower than the 15.6% recorded the previous week. But still 3x the WHO threshold of 5% or less ⬆️ The top haulers for the day were: Quezon City (208), Cavite (173), Davao del Sur (124), Manila (121) and Bulacan (120). 68.5% of the cases today came from 3 regions – NCR (889), CALABARZON (443) and Central Luzon (257). NCR had 889 new infections or 38.3% of the total cases in the country. Quezon City logged in 208 cases with Manila in second with 121. Thirteen other LGUs reported double digits: Makati 69, Las Piñas 67, Parañaque 60, Taguig 57, Pasig 54, Caloocan 42, Mandaluyong 39, Valenzuela and Muntinlupa 35 each, Marikina 25, San Juan 12 and Malabon 10. Three provinces outside NCR reported triple digits: Cavite 173, Davao del Sur 124 (with Davao City reporting 53) and Bulacan 120. Those with more than 50 but less than 100 cases were: Laguna 94, Rizal 84, Batangas 65, Pampanga 57, Iloilo 73, and Cebu 52. Two provinces in Mindanao saw higher cases today – Agusan del Sur 24 and Surigao del Sur 16. The Week In Review: The cases in East Asia continue to decline with Taiwan maintaining an average of 45,000 daily cases. Japan and South Korea are seeing significant drop in number of cases with the change in the way reporting is done in these countries. Singapore, however, is seeing a doubling in the number of cases apparently stemming from the Omicron sub variant XBB. On a per capita basis (cases per million population), Taiwan and Singapore lead with quadruple digits. Note, however, that many of the cases are under reported due to reduced surveillance (no more contact tracing), and low rates of testing (using lateral flow assays instead of PCR). Protocols need to be reviewed. The challenge w/ getting COVID19 now, is not how severe it can get but on how long should patients stay in isolation. Stay safe. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cjxc7NwLIjH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Badlands guardian indian head

#Badlands guardian indian head full
The project was planned in under two weeks, and took almost a day to finish. It has been created by local Firefox fans, mainly students. Here's a 220-feet diameter crop circle, found near Portland, Oregon. Here's a list of the most interesting structures among them all. Out of them, a few eagle-eyed users have found weird things across our planet. Hard to believe, but many people spend hours playing around with Maps and its standalone variant, Google Earth. In addition to that, it allows you to explore the entire world, right from your armchair. It's very useful for finding locations and planning road trips. We make daily deliveries of home heating oil, diesel fuels, and gasoline.Google Maps is one of the most popular services offered by the search giant. Hillside is a full-service home heating oil company as well as a full-service heating and air conditioning service company. Thank you from everyone at Hillside for your business. Support of Hillside is support for local, homegrown, family business in our area. We take pride in thinking like a customer when dealing with our customers. We know what it is like to be a customer and how we like to be treated. Customer service is the most important thing. We have no touch-tone mazes to navigate in order to speak to a human being that can assist or answer questions. Real human beings still work here and answer our phones. We do not answer to any parent or mother corporation in some far-off land. Everything about Hillside is locally owned and operated. Three generations of family attitudes and values have allowed us to continue to successfully service our customers and communities. Hillside Oil Heating & Cooling has been family owned and operated for over 65 years. Hillside is here to help-from selection and purchase to delivery, installation, and service- keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer while doing customer service right. We also help with budget billing to spread high winter costs throughout the year. We have hundreds of verified reviews on our website and on Facebook. We offer maintenance plans and repair services for all our new installations. Hillside Oil Heating & Cooling has been in business for over 65 years, received an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau, won its prestigious Torch Awards for Ethics for demonstrating the highest ethical standards of trust and behavior toward customers, business partners, shareholders, employees, and the communities in which they do business. As you know, summer will be here again like clockwork. If you this summer you are looking for a new HVAC Unit in DE, PA, or MD, Hillside delivers superior products and quality service for all new Air Conditioning Unit Installation. We hope you enjoyed this Google Earth blog post. The feature was discovered in 2005 by Lynn Hickox on Google Earth.Īt Hillside, we like to keep things fun and educational. Its age is estimated to be in the hundreds of years at a minimum. Although the image appears to be a convex feature, it is actually concave – that is, a valley, which is formed by erosion on a stratum of clay, and is an instance of the Hollow-Face illusion. The ‘head’ may have been created during a short period of fast erosion immediately following intense rainfall. The head is a drainage feature created through erosion of soft, clay-rich soil by the action of wind and water.[The arid badlands are typified by infrequent but intense rain-showers, sparse vegetation, and soft sediments. Its scale is much larger than the figures of Mount Rushmore. The apparent earphones are a road and an oil well, which were installed recently and are expected to disappear once the project is abandoned. Additional man-made structures have been said to resemble a pair of earphones worn by the figure.
#Badlands guardian indian head full
Viewed from the air, the feature has been said to resemble a human head wearing a full Aboriginal type of headdress, facing directly westward. The Badlands Guardian ( also known as Indian Head) is a geomorphological feature located near Medicine Hat in the southeast corner of Alberta, Canada.
