Kk: you know… you have to stop pushing yourself. Your body won’t work if you overdo it.
Gai: I know that! You have no need to mother me, Kashi!
Kk: Mah, Gai-kun… you don’t want me to be your mommy?
Gai: GAH! Kakashi stop being a pervert!

I introduced a friend to buddy daddies who is just a casual watcher, doesn't ship, doesn't invest or over-analyze.
His take on the ending: queer platonic partners. Not in those words, because he wasn't familiar with the term (and loved it, after I explained). But what amazed me is that unlike us who over analyze everything, this guy didn't even notice Rei's awkwardness in the family photo, did not even remember the line about the drinking with women until I brought it up. Because to a casual watcher, that is hardly relevant.
He had some gripes about other things, plot wise, but as far as Kazurei is concerned, it was a happy ending, but forgettable.
Forgettable.
And that is the wonderful thing about it. Because their ending IS forgettable. It is NORMAL. They are just a normal family now. All they wanted in life! To be a normal fucking family where they are not fearing for their lives and can go to the beach and take family photos to hang on the fridge.
A forgettable ending, fuck. I love this for them.

it is so weird to me that like all the kiddads are alike in the fact that they are deeply complicated characters who we as an audience have a fascinating view on from both their parents and children’s perspectives and they’ve all committed this great atrocity together and they all kinda consistently fuck up they’re kids a bit, AND YET, it seems that without a doubt sparrow consistently gets the most hate. Like omg free my man or persecute everyone else

The sight that greeted Victor Rookwood as he exited the Hog's Head that fateful evening would be forever ingrained in his memory.
The street was dark and eerily quiet, and the dapper wizard had just taken a few steps outside the seedy pub before he realized something was amiss, causing him to stop abruptly and survey his surroundings.
"Lumos."
Continued below...
At first, Victor was more disoriented than anything - unsure that he could trust what he was seeing with his own eyes. The dark wizard blinked a few times in confusion before, slowly, he began to make sense of the gruesome display before him.
Heaps of... dirty rags? Someone has made rather a mess, it seems. . .
No. That's blood.
Blood and worse.
Before him was a scene of utter carnage the likes of which he'd never seen. A slaughter. The lifeless bodies of several young witches were splayed out in the middle of Spire Alley, a spectacle so macabre that even the dark wizard, well-accustomed to death, felt his stomach lurch at the sight.
A ginger witch lay eviscerated. Another's golden hair fanned around her angelic face like a halo. A brunette was positioned face down in a pool of her own blood. A strange-looking witch with odd-coloured hair... Victor shuddered as he recalled that one. He remembered her as having been particularly annoying.
And yet more still.
Sisters in death. Some he recognized outright, a vague familiarity to the rest. Their faces - doubtless once beautiful, now befouled by their own blood. Twisted limbs at grotesque angles. Internal organs now decidedly external.
Gods..
And in the center a... survivor? Victor tentatively stepped forward, perhaps even to offer a helping hand, as the pale witch clad in black gazed up at him adoringly.
"Victor.. I did it for you. For us."
Rookwood watched, horrified comprehension dawning on his face as the witch released a bloodied dagger she'd been holding. He barely registered the sound of the steel clattering to the cobblestone over the pounding of his heart.
"I love you, Victor."

Maybe it sounds silly, but Buddy Daddies was honestly one of the highlights of 2023 for me. Not only did I meet some truly wonderful people within the fandom, but for the first time in years I actually felt motivated to write and draw again.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to bring this family to life. Hopefully we get to see more of them in the years to come, but whether or not we ever get more official content, this beautiful little family will always live rent free in my heart.
Happy New Year Everyone!! ❤️💙🩷

Do you guys ever think about how if redeemed!Durge pulls out of Gortash’s alliance after returning with Orin’s Netherstone that Gortash literally cannot rationalize their betrayal (and them now trying to kill him) by blaming their urge? Like how much of a complete mindfuck that would be for him. The Dark Urge just told him they’re 100% cured and now they’re trying to kill him? You know, the person who’s always been by their side, their partner in crime, their equal, and their (potential) lover; and now they’re trying to murder him. And prior to the amnesia, Gortash could always rationalize that if The Dark Urge tried to kill him one day that he could hand wave it as “they just couldn’t help themselves anymore” because of Bhaal’s hold on them. It doesn’t mean they wanted to.
But now, Bhaal is gone and The Dark Urge is moving in to kill him. There’s no way to rationalize it as anything else. The only person who ever cared about him is going to kill him, and he’ll die knowing everything they once had is completely gone. The Dark Urge doesn’t remember him. Their love for him died the moment Orin split their skull. The urge isn’t the reason they’re doing this. He’ll die knowing that they hate him.
