Do you have HC about first ginzura kiss

I don't. My understanding of a HC (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is that you believe the event will happen or has happened behind the scenes in the canon timeline. The only gintama HC I have that fits this criteria when it comes to ships is that Hasegawa and Gintoki have continued their 20 min ritual most nights they get drunk together xD

I do like ginzura and I think they have the potential to be really good together, but not in canon (there's no real place for gintoki centered romance in the series imo). More like, they have the makings of it in an alternate timeline where takasuki and Sakamoto aren't in the picture, and it's just the two of them depending on each other etc. I suppose the same can be said about the rest of the joui4. They have the type of backstory that builds ships. I will admit I only started liking ginzura because it's so aesthetically pleasing - I was introduced to it via fanart. It had never crossed my mind.

Frankly, it's my shallowest ship lol. They are pretty and I love Zura as a character. With my current fic I want to explore his childhood and earlier days, and his gradual transition to the man with loose screws his head. It doesn't need to have romance no, but I want to see him heal, and I'm borrowing Gintoki for that. Hmm. A strictly canon compliant fic with no ships entirely focused on zura from the point he met gintoki and Shoyo to the canon beginning would also be interesting. I have a WIP for that rotting somewhere actually, and I'm fairly certain I posted a snippet of it here at some point.

Sorrows of today, Ghosts of tomorrow

Another modern AU! Initially born from wanting to put LJX and WKX in the style of a magazine cover--but in the end it became some random movie poster hahaha. More below!

It's one of, if note the first illustration where I draw such a somber Jiuxiao. Of course, I already drew him like this in the Qiye comic adaptation of Ch62 that I made (did I ever post it here on tumblr? ...looks like not woops. Well here is the link.), but never properly like this by ZZS' side.

The meaning of this one relies heavily on the title, and said title sort of... establishes the common point between them in ZZS' life, at a certain point. Of course, WKX isn't yet in his life in this period of """canon""", but there is something there about love, about freedom, about kinship and understanding---what is and isn't one day, what is a lingering feeling the next.

(NGL, part of me feels like it well illustrates the vibes of one of my fics, too (If there's something to salvage on AO3 but hum it's hum, haha, yeah))

ANYWAY, LJX's more sorrowful, distraught side is also fascinating and a delight to work on. I should make more illustrations where he looks like that, is what I take away from this.

That being said, I am also very pleased with how WKX came out!! I need to do that again!!

And then of course. Big wide ZZS. My never ending obsession. Hehe. Overall, this was a nice exercise in painting as I'm trying to refine certain aspects of my technique.

Summary:

Once again, Griffith acts impulsively when it comes to Guts. AU where Griffith doesn't find out that Guts left the Hawks until after he's gone.

My comments:

The way I was waiting for two whole years for another bthump fic after Refraction lmao. This fic is one of those fics that you pull up to cope with after you remember what happened in canon.

What would happen if the duel in the snow never happened but Griffith still chased after Guts to bring him back? Find out in 10.2k words of peak writing. In bthump we trust (￣^￣)ゞ

Late Night Reverie by bishounenjump

Summary:

"He won’t hesitate to admit that he loves being king. No blustering nobleman can take that from him.

And yet, on nights like this, when he can drink in the broad expanse of his commander — his dark brow and gentle gaze and absurdly strong physique — he knows that some dreams do occasionally obscure others."

My comments:

A very heartwarming glimpse into a future that Guts and Griffith could've had. I feel all warm inside whenever I reread this fic

Summary:

Though the gash on Guts’ shoulder heals, his eyes now skip right past Griffith.

My comments:

Whereas the previous fic rec was a sweet look into a future that never was, this fic is a painful one. Holy hell did I feel like someone had carved my heart out of my chest when I had finished the final line. It reminds me a lot of the film, Atonement, so if you've seen the film, you can take a lot more away from this fic.

In the Absence of Light by Ghidorahs_Child

Summary:

Schierke aches for him, for the happiness he was denied, for the love he has lost.

My comments:

Guts and Schierke share their own Corridor of Dreams moments and it's just as bittersweet as you think it is

A Dreamless Sleep by Queenbananya

Summary:

“I’ve killed children for you,” Guts said, lying next to Griffith on a patch of grass. He peered up at the stars and remembered the kid’s face, the hand that reached out to him helplessly as the last trace of life faded from his eyes.

Or, Guts seeks comfort from Griffith, months after he's killed Adonis.

My comments:

Griffith comforting Guts as he deals with the trauma of killing Adonis is something we all desperately wanted at some point

That Dawn in the Snow by Nefastum

Summary:

He wondered now if Griffith even remembered there were others around him, or if he had completely shut them out. Casca and Judeau were staring in uncertainty, and not far back up the road it was easy to see Rickert, Corkus, and Pippin in earshot of most of their conversation. Griffith didn’t falter, though. It was like all he could see was Guts, and perhaps they’d have to find an excuse for his vulnerability later for the others. Guts could sympathize, though. The feeling was mutual.

My comments:

You can never go wrong with a duel in the snow au, and this fic is no different. The characterization of Griffith here is really great too and probably one of my favorite takes of him for this scene in particular

This Fleeting Dream by Queenbananya

Summary:

"To me... they are not friends. A friend is someone that is my equal."

Perhaps it was the way his thoughts had strayed in that direction, or simply how attuned he was to the movements of his soldiers. His eyes could always find him. Guts stood there, listening. And in his eyes, there was heartbreak.

Or, Griffith catches Guts listening in his famous fountain conversation with Charlotte and follows after him. Essentially, an exploration of his character and feelings for Guts.

My comments:

A very interesting take on a "Griffith clearing everything up with Guts after he finds out he overheard his dream speech at the fountain" au. Equal parts fluff and equal parts angst

Forever Facade by TheriOlis

Summary:

Slan has come to see what manner of flower grows atop the bones buried beneath Griffith's garden.

My comments:

The GriffGuts in this fic is mild but as the resident Slan thirster, I need you all to read this because it's really fucking good. NeoGriff being egged on by Slan for nearly 2k words? Yes, YEs, YES

Recoil and Grace by aloveleyburn

Summary:

Their fingers wind together in the darkness. Outside there is that ever-present chirping of birds and insects – the music of those dark hours, calming as cool water. Outside some car alarm goes off in the empty streets, and on the bedside table, clock reads 2:47am.

My comments:

There are so many words that I could use to describe this fic, but I think I'll just settle on 'quintessential'. I can't remember the last time I was so enthralled by a fic, so glued to my screen and absorbing every single word in front of me. The way that Ariel blends the two storylines into one in such a flawless manner reminds me of a weaver stitching together two scenes in a tapestry. Each thread is connected in a way that matters.

If there's one fic you walk away with from this list, I hope that this is the fic.

Summary:

Griffith learns why Guts has a problem with intimacy. Guts learns he has another purpose.

My comments:

BDSM to cope with trauma. That's it. It's nice and sweet and hot at the same time.

Summary:

His life was easy to understand. Mother liked to tell him stories, wrapped up in their canopy bed with warmth crackling in her words. He was born from a real-life fairytale, everyone knew it, from a dashing knight’s love for a simple princess.

Queen Charlotte and King Griffith's young son uncovers something he was not meant to know.

My comments:

This is THEE GriffGuts kid fic (and the only one to my knowledge too haha). It's the perfect "Griffith gets guy and the throne" au and really explores what GriffGuts would look like from a child's perspective, specifically Griffith's son's perspective. I know that kid fics can be annoying with the way some people write kids but trust me, William Leopold Guts Charles Wyndham is the cutest little guy ever and I would lay down my life for him.

Sorachi's comments on characters from Gintama-kun no ayumi(part 3&4)

Sarutobi Ayame: A lot of people are mistaken about her but actually as a ninja and as an assassin Sarutobi-san is ultra top-notch. She becomes a dirty sow only in front of Sakata-kun. Probanly if it wasn’t for Sakata-kun she would have been perceived completely differently - 75p

Otose: When things are sad and lonely she’s the good ol’ granny, but in short she’s an old hag. When everyone is in trouble she just makes her appearance and somehow resumes the narration. I can’t count how many times she has helped me out. This old hag is very important to me - 95p

Catherine: To be honest she was planned out as a minor villain at first, but she somehow ended up being part of the Yorozuya family. She’s thick-skinned and unyielding, and sometimes she feels like the most Gintama-like or to say Gintama-belonging character out there - 85p

Terakado Tsuu: When I was drawing her I was thinking that there’s no way there could exist such an offensive idol for real, but to think about it I guess I was wrong. I want Otsuu-chan to follow the idol path on the same level as them - 70p

Sakamoto Tatsuma: Sakamoto-kun is someone who could be could be named the best and the worst, and since I felt that I couldn’t convey Sakamoto Ryoma’s appeal only by giving him physical strength I just put Mutsu-san in charge. My goal was to draw a whole, cool character not inspired by Dragon Quest’s parameters - 75p

Hattori Zenzo: If it wasn’t for his hemorrhoids, Hattori-kun is actually supposed to be the Gintoki-kun level of strong, but is it my poor way of drawing to blame or the fact that he stinks of an ossan, he doesn’t seem to be very popular. He’s like a shadow anyway - 85p

Takasugi Shinsuke: Before he was the kind of villain who’d use others for wrongdoings and only smile conspiratorially in the background, but now that he’s improved into the villain who takes part in wrongdoings himself, I’m happy. Let’s destroy the world keeping this pace - 75p

Okada Nizo: Something that happens quite rarely in Gintama, Nizo-kun was someone to walk the path of evil until the very end. He carried out the original idea that was there for him - 90p

Kijima Matako: Kijima-san who’s been head over heels for Takasugi-kun for 10 years but hasn’t had a single scene in which she’d actually have a conversation with him. Dreams come true if you don’t give up on them - 70p

Takechi Henpeita:  The communication between him and Takasugi-kun that is happening on a regular basis is an enigma. I wonder who is the tsukkomi to his&Kijima-san’s boke, Takasugi-kun or rather Kawakami-kun - 80p

Matsudaira Katakuriko: The real Matsudaira Katamori was said to be a handsome man without an equal, but this one was based off Robert De Niro. He’s rather a boss from detective dramas than a feudal lord - 85p
