Ok. I have listened to the people. I have watched the thing. It is very wholesome.
Kazu comes home. He is hopeless and tipsy. And he swings between excited and wasted.

I’m curious... For those of us who, like me, didn’t start watching Buddy Daddies from the very start when episode 1 was released:
What was it that convinced you to watch?
For me it was seeing it trend here on tumblr a couple of times and what made me eventually watch it were these two specific moments from episode 6, namely:
Tumblr media
and

Another little Buddy Daddies Fic because I can’t be normal about liking things
Miri’s Mistletoe Trap
Synopsis: Kazuki and Rei kiss for the first time when Miri tricks them into standing under mistletoe together.
Word Count: 1816
Warnings: None. Very vague spoilers.
Other tags: FLUFFY AS HELL, Kazurei, first kiss, mutual pining, sort of confession.
(Also, I don’t know if kissing under mistletoe is a thing in Japan, I just thought this idea was cute)
It was a cold evening in February. Kazuki was in the kitchen rolling out cookie dough while Rei and Miri were snuggled up on the couch under a blanket playing Morio Kart. Miri cheered as the race finished, causing Kazuki to look up and smile.
It had been a few months since they made their dramatic departure from the organization, and Kazuki and Rei were happier than they had ever been. Of course, they had their fair share of challenges to overcome, but every time Kazuki noticed a little domestic moment like this, he was reminded about how all of that was worth it.
“Papa? Can I have some water?” Miri asked.
“Of course sweetie, Rei, could you grab it?” Kazuki said, holding up his hands to show they were caked in flour and cookie dough.
Rei nodded and tousled Miri’s hair playfully before getting up. He grabbed a plastic cup from the cabinet and went to stand next to Kazuki at the sink when Miri jumped up and yelled triumphantly.
“HA I got you!” She squealed, pointing at her fathers. Kazuki and Rei both jumped slightly in surprise.
“Miri, what are you talking about?” Kazuki asked, wiping his hands off on a kitchen towel. She continued giggling for a moment before pointing above their heads.
“You fell right into my trap!” She said, proud of herself. Kazuki and Rei glanced at each other in silent confusion before looking up to see what she was pointing at. Kazuki immediately became visibly flustered while Rei just continued to look up blankly at the red and green flower taped to their ceiling.
“Miri! What the- How did you even get up there?” Kazuki said, trying to keep his cool.
“Uncle Kyu helped me earlier when you were doing errands!” She said, causing Kazuki to curse under his breath. He was so going to beat Kyu’s ass for this later.
“I don’t get it.” Rei said flatly.
“Hinata told me that when you stand under mistletoe you have to kiss!”
“Mistletoe?“ Rei mumbled, still confused.
“Miri, first of all! You never have to kiss anyone if you don’t want to. Ever. In any situation. Second. I’m pretty sure Mistletoe is only a Christmas thing” Kazuki took a deep breath before continuing. “Why do you want us to kiss?”
“Because I love both my papa's so much and I want you to love each other and people who love each other kiss” she said, her voice getting a little quiet and dreamy. “Like when they find true love's kiss at the end of the movie” Miri had been on a princess movie kick recently, and they all seemed to end the exact same way, with them finding their true love and sharing a kiss before riding off into the sunset.
“Cute.” Rei said quietly. Kazuki had to take a moment to compose himself over how adorable his daughter was.
“Miri, Papa Rei and I do love each other, we just…don’t kiss.” Kazuki explained gently.
“But Why not?” Miri pouted. Kazuki opened his mouth to respond, but genuinely couldn’t come up with an honest answer.
“No reason why we can’t” Rei surprisingly spoke first. Kazuki’s head whipped around to him.
“What?!” Kazuki desperately tried to read Rei’s face, but was coming up empty as his own mind raced with confusion, fear, and hope.
“I can’t think of a reason. Can you?” He said with a shrug. “It’s not like it’d kill us.” Rei said it casually, but Kazuki was reeling.
“Yeah but—“
“Pleeeeeeeaaaaaassseee” Miri pleaded, interrupting Kazuki. He looked back to her and, seeing the cute little pouty face she was making, melted.
“Alright alright you win.” Kazuki threw his arms up in the air. Rei nodded and took a step closer.
Before Kazuki could lose his nerve, he grabbed Rei’s shoulders. Giving Rei one last chance to back out if he was uncomfortable, Kazuki closed the distance and quickly leaned in.
The intention was just a quick peck, but once Kazuki felt Rei’s lips pressed against his own, he found that he didn’t want to pull away.
“Yay! I can’t wait to tell Uncle Kyu!” Miri cheered, causing Rei and Kazuki to pull apart. Miri ran back down the hallway to her room, giggling that her plan worked.
“Miri! No Running in the House!” Kazuki called down the hallway, shaking his head. When he turned back to Rei he noticed that his partner had been staring at him this whole time, his steel gray eyes slightly wide. A moment of tense stillness passed between them.
“Man. Kyu is never gonna let us hear the end of it” Kazuki finally said with a strained chuckle.
“That’s fine.” Rei said quietly, still staring Kazuki down. Maybe Kazuki was imagining it, but he could swear he could see the slightest pink shadow on Rei’s cheeks. They were still standing close together.
“Makes sense that my first kiss would be with you.” He finally mumbled.
“Wait! You’ve never-?!” Kazuki stopped himself. Rei didn’t exactly have a normal upbringing, even by (former) hitman standards, and was never allowed to have any attachments, so of course Rei had never kissed anyone. Kazuki chastised himself for not connecting the dots on that sooner.
“Sorry—if I had known that was your first kiss, I would have done a better job” Kazuki joked, trying to ease the tension.
“It was…nice…” Rei said, a softness in his voice. Kazuki felt his face get even more warm.
“Yeah?”
“It was soft. And warm.” Rei’s mouth tipped upward to an ever so slight smile that caused Kazuki's heart to hammer in his chest. “It was nice” Rei repeated
“Well, I’m glad you liked it. But just know I can do better than that.” Kazuki blurted out without thinking.
“How?” Rei asked. Kazuki looked at his partner, finding the genuine curiosity in his eyes incredibly endearing. He decided to take the leap.
“Want me to show you?” Kazuki asked. Rei tensed for a moment, blinking as he processed Kazuki's question, before giving a small nod.
Kazuki moved one hand to cup Rei’s cheek and leaned in, this time slower and more deliberately. He pressed his lips to Rei's. Kazuki lingered in the kiss for a moment, relishing it. He had kissed a fair number of people before, and had even been in love, but this felt different. It just felt right.
Even though Kazuki didn’t want it to end, he also didn’t want to overwhelm Rei. He reluctantly started to pull back. However, before he could, he felt Rei’s hands gripping the front of his shirt to pull him back in. He sighed against Kazuki’s lips at the added pressure, sending shivers down Kazuki’s spine.
Kazuki couldn’t believe this was happening. That Rei didn’t want this to stop either. Of course, the thought of kissing Rei and exploring that side of their relationship had crossed Kazuki’s mind. They were living together and raising a child together after all, so it was kind of hard to not consider the possibility. But Kazuki didn’t want to overcomplicate things more, and resigned himself to sitting on those feelings so that he didn’t ruin what they had.
Admittedly, those thoughts had been getting harder and harder to ignore lately. Sure, he was perfectly happy with their situation before, but he’d be lying if he said he had never fantasized about this moment.
He moved the hand on Rei’s face to the back of his head, fingers tangling with his hair as his other hand rested on Rei’s waist. He pulled Rei towards him, trying to deepen the kiss even more. Rei let go of Kazuki’s shirt and wrapped his arms around his neck. They clung to each other for dear life as their lips met again and again.
Though neither of them wanted to stop, eventually they had to pull back to catch their breath. When they did, they stayed holding each other, foreheads pressed together.
“You’re right. That was better” Rei said matter of factly, causing Kazuki to chuckle.
“Told ya.”
Rei gave a quiet laugh. Kazuki smiled. Ever since Miri came into their lives, Rei had started to smile and laugh a bit more, and every time it happened Kazuki’s heart felt warm.
“To be honest. I’ve thought about doing that for a while.” Kazuki admitted, his voice barely audible. Rei stayed holding Kazuki but pulled back slightly to look at his face.
“Why didn’t you?” He asked in a serious tone. Now that Kazuki could see his face he could see just how much his partner was blushing too.
“I mean…I don’t know…I didn’t want to scare you off…I wasn’t sure if you felt that way about me” He stammered. Rei stared at Kazuki in disbelief for a second before cracking a smile.
“You realize we have a kid together and are basically married right?” Rei teased.
“Hey! I don’t know, we didn’t exactly have a kid the normal way and—“
“I sleep in the same bed as you”
“Okay but…wait…I could ask you the same question” Kazuki said, mad at himself that he had probably (definitely) missed some signals.
“I didn’t know how to initiate it” Rei shrugged. “Like I said, I’ve never done this before”
“Huh. Fair enough” Kazuki said after a moment.
“At least Miri was smart enough to figure it out for the both of us”
“Yeah…I can’t believe we fell into a trap made by a five year old.” Kazuki chuckled.
“She’s smart” Rei repeated, the corners of his mouth tipping back up into a small smile. “Must be those hitman genetics at work” He added, causing Kazuki’s face to scrunch up in playful annoyance.
“One time! I said that one time! You’re never gonna let that go are you?” Kazuki sighed.
“Nope.” Rei said, leaning forward to plant a cautious but sweet kiss on Kazuki’s cheek. “And it was more than one time.” He whispered in Kazuki’s ear.
Before Kazuki could retort, they heard the little pitter patter of Miri’s feet coming back towards them. They reluctantly separated as she turned the corner, holding a piece of paper.
“Look!” She said excitedly. Instead of just picking the paper up, Rei chose to hoist Miri up with his good arm. Once she was sitting comfortably on his hip, he took the drawing from her and examined it.
“Heh.” Rei chuckled, flipping the paper around to show to Kazuki. It was a crayon drawing of Rei and Kazuki as stick figures, kissing under mistletoe. On top of the drawing Miri had written “Phase 4: Kiss!” Implying she had drawn out the other steps of her plan.
“She’s our daughter alright.” Rei said with a mixture of amusement and pride. Kazuki laughed and wrapped his arms around Rei and Miri.
“She sure is…Though she fell into her own trap!” He said, giving Miri a big kiss on the cheek. Rei followed, giving Miri a kiss on the forehead and Kazuki a quick peck on the cheek. Miri giggled again, music to both of their ears.

a ring doesn't need to be metallic and worn on a finger: the kazurei approach to symbolic marriage
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@mybirthstoneisemerald said it 👏🏻 in this screen capture, rei is shown wearing a red hair tie. Now, it could be just another little easter egg. Fine. But according to this post by @sponsoredbyadhd they also took the pain to animate rings onto the fingers of most of the parents that attended the sports event at miri's daycare.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buddy daddies has been consistent when it came to little details most of the time, and it's admirable. So I do think the red hair tie was very intentional. The studio probably had to throw in the 'no homo' line because of censorship. Despite that, they also wanted the audience to know that kazuki and rei are each other's person by the end of the story.
They could've made it a black hair tie, but no, it's red and after rei's sacrifice, it must be kazuki who ties his hair because you just can't do a decent ponytail with one hand-at all. Maybe rei chose the colour, or maybe kazuki did, but at the end of the day, it symbolises their co existence and love.
I might be reading too deep into it since this the first of the rest of the buddy-daddy-less fridays and I'm a little emotional.

Some things about Misaki that I always think about is
1. How she let her 4 y.o. child travel alone (by a train too?!) to find her biological dad that didn't want her and didn't want to pay for child support. You can only imagine the horrible things that could've happened to Miri, I mean she almost got shot by her bio dad. And Misaki didn't care that two random men took Miri in to take for her. She didn't care about that until she found out she's going to die soon and also SUDDENLY Miri is in danger because she's with Kazuki and Rei?! But she wasn't in danger before when she was left to travel around alone and stay in two random men's apartment for a year???
2. Because of that I'm convinced she pulled the "I know what type of work you do" card only because Kazuki and Rei clearly grew attached to Miri and didn't want to just let her go like that. If they did, Misaki would've never admitted she knew the truth. Miri was safe with them for a year, a whole year where she could've been who knows where doing who knows what with someone else if she ended up in wrong hands (human trafficking for example; Something her bio dad was involved with)
3. Which leads me to the next thing: Misaki knew she was going to die, so she wanted to spend time with her daughter -- fine. But what after? As far as the audience can tell, she's a single mother with nobody around, so once she dies what would happen to Miri? She'd end up in orphanage, probably. In the best case situation, a possible aunt or grandparents that maybe exist would take her in?
I wanna say Misaki's reasoning is selfish, but I also kinda empathise with her since she looked like she realized her faults, and that she actually loved Miri. (The anime showed that by making her try to be a better mom to Miri (like when she tried to cook, even though she clearly wasn't too experienced)).
But it still annoys me, writing wise. Because wtf, she did not have to die the way she did! She was already on her way to death! IMO the anime should've made her and KazuRei co-parent. She'd get to spend time with Miri, and once she passes away Miri wouldn't have been left alone since her dads would still be there lol. She could've dropped by and suggested the idea, Kazuki would be like hell no, Rei would be hesitant, Misaki would pull the mom card and "I'm gonna die soon" card, KazuRei would hesitate but feel empathetic enough to agree. Miri would be with her mom for sleepovers. She'd see her dads. They could've coparented while dealing with the organization. Cut the whole Ogino being after Misaki and Miri, or just make it so that Kazuki comes earlier and stops him, whatever, just put Misaki and Miri out of the trouble lol. And then in the timeskip its implied Misaki eventually passed away. It could've worked, while not separating any parent from Miri. MISAKI DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE THE WAY SHE DID!!!!
Sidenote. I saw people wonder what 15 y.o. Miri thinks about her mom, where is she, what happened?? Considering Misaki had cancer, KazuRei most likely used that excuse once Miri grew older or asked more seriously about her mom.

Buddy Daddies Ep 10 Speculation/ Predictions
the mood for this ep already looks so sombre I’m so unprepared..
Tumblr media
I’m assuming from this shot that kyu does end up telling/ hinting to kazuki and rei that they’re in danger and that shigeki has asked for info.. which will obviously make them reflect on whether keeping miri with them is the safest thing for her moving forward
- or they’ve told kyu about misaki coming back and he gives them some advice they don’t want to hear… potentially something that contradicts his previous ‘don’t regret it’ advice now he knows they’re in danger but can’t betray the organisation …
Tumblr media
which is obviously something both of them are gonna take really hard (from the looks of the trailer especially kazuki, though he wears his heart on his sleeve)
putting the rest of this under the cut bc its long
Tumblr media
we also know that misaki makes a return in this ep. miri looked so happy to see her which really tugged on my heartstrings ahah
we know that she’s come to pick up miri and take her back from the episode synopsis
Tumblr media
it seems that misaki is invited over for dinner from miri eating the hamburg steak and kazuki and rei sitting next to each other rather than opposite like they usually do (edit: its confirmed by the episode synopsis that she comes over to discuss)
I think this interaction with misaki, seeing miri happy in the presence of her mom for the first time AND potentially knowing that their family is in danger is gonna make kazurei reflect (spiral) on what the best course of action is… we know misaki is the one to intimate she wants miri back and they can’t really say no to her birth mother ..
I also think the reason misaki wants miri back is because she’s ‘made it big’ in her career and is moving out of japan- hence her posh new clothes and haircut and the ‘specific reason’ mentioned in the synopsis, this is also where the title ‘lost at sea’ could come into play
however I also have a theory that misaki is lying and has been paid off by the organisation to take miri back .. which would explain the fancy look and the sudden turn around in maternal feelings (though if she knows she’s gonna have a better life she may be able to offer miri a better childhood than before, since her life is no longer ‘ruined’ by her)
which brings me to these shots
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we can see the family are shopping for miri again, and their bags and items are with them when they arrive at the funfair (you can tell by the rainbow lights and the final shots in the trailer with kazuki and rei)
this seems odd to me as buying miri a bunch of stuff and then having to lug it around the fair doesnt seem productive
which is why I think they might be giving her a final send off with lots of gifts and a fun day out 💔, they may not have a lot of time before the organisation closes in on them and they have to send her back to misaki..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can tell they’re in the ferris wheel here which also makes me think they might be ambushed and the episode will end of a cliffhanger - thanks to the scenes from the op (though rei is dressed in his assassin wear in that)
Tumblr media
(sorry for the low quality screenshot lmao)
I can’t fathom the anime making misaki come back without a genuine reason/ ploy considering the central themes of the show are about found family and how they set up that some people just don’t want to be parents … though I hope that if my organisation theory is true misaki isn’t doing something irredeemable bc they set her up as a victim and I would hate for them to do a 180° on that
and considering how many episodes are left and the focus on them truly being a family last ep, it seems too soon to definitively say that miri should live with her mom that is what’s best for her
edit: I also saw someone say that kyu may have been the one to send misaki as shigeki would just kill miri which I also think is a very likely scenario!
I’m excited for some angst though! lmk what you think this is a whole lot of waffle ngl

How do you feel about episode 10?
Anon I hope you know I had no idea it was out yet and rushed to open it as soon as I saw this I AM IN SHAMBLES
Ok so as I was going through the op again remember this shot?
Tumblr media
A metaphorical barrier between Kazuki and Rei and Miri, which makes a LOT more sense now that we know Misaki is taking Miri back. The act of holding the frame symbolizes kazurei's efforts to give Miri the happy life she has now, but they are outside the frame while Miri is inside. They can look in, Miri can't look out. They can't touch or interact with each other anymore.
On to the actual episode lmfao can we talk about how Misaki made herself look so cool and motherly in the kitchen when it turns out she was just microwaving a convenience store meal in the microwave I laughed so hard.
Tumblr media
(Also Kazuki's line about there being nothing worse than somebody else messing around in your kitchen just solidified my ocd hc for him this man is sooo ocd adhd coded)
So this episode we learn that Misaki is about to die which, WOAH, was not expecting that. It adds a lot more gravity to the situation and is a believable motivation to take your daughter back. But, again, this does not mean she should be Miri's mother. Because once she grows up Miri will have to constantly be reminded of the fact that she was abandoned by her mom when she was 4. Kinda fucked up!
I do appreciate that Misaki is willing to spend the rest of her life dedicated to Miri, but, as Rei and Kazuki say, it's still just about her. She's only approaching Miri now because she's about to die and doesn't want any regrets before then. But Misaki is right too, their work is dangerous, and on top of that they're being actively targeted right now. The writers did a good job setting up the moral dilemma. The most important factor here though is Miri's happiness, which to her includes both her Papas and Mama so we'll see how that goes.
(That said, if Misaki does end up taking Miri back for good, isn't that cruel? To abandon your daughter, then take her back and properly care for her, while knowing you're just going to leave her alone again sooner rather than later.)
(Another interesting tidbit is Kazuki telling Misaki not to smoke. We know Rei has given up smoking, at least around Miri. Maybe a hint about who will be the best fit for Miri in the end?)
Then there's the family outing which was so adorable and chock full of references to past eps. Love this silent exchange between Kazuki and Rei what are you guys talking about up there let me into your heads...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND THIS SHOT WITH THE CHRISTMAS WREATH ABOVE THEM GRAHHHH the final ep is gonna be during Christmas and parallel Kazuki catching Miri in ep 1 I just know it.
Tumblr media
This dynamic where Kazuki is all too ready to give up on his happiness because he's already lost it before so many times versus Rei who doesn't want to accept it because *this* is his first happiness is juicy as hell and I'm gonna need all the fanartists and fic writers to step on it cause damn!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kazuki putting his scarf around Miri like the cat :( sobbing ueueue need the cat and Miri to return to them later. And as if this ep wasn't painful enough they really had Kazuki closing it on THIS goddamn line
Tumblr media
Like just shoot me in the head at this point it would hurt less.

Fighting and all that jazz
Do you wonder why when there is a fighting scene and the background music is somewhat contrary to what is happening on the screen? It is called soundtrack dissonance. I have here three examples that PA Works made use of this trope. What is a soundtrack dissonance?
“Soundtrack dissonance, which appears in the background music of a movie scene, is a phenomenon of using songs or compositions that contrast with the general sentiment of the situation. A sad scene usually uses a slow tempo of sad music to match the mood of the scene. However, sometimes, in order to play background music that follows a depressing, sad, or anxious scene, there is a case of inserting music with an opposite atmosphere such as bright music, exciting music, fast-tempo music, or magnificent music.” ( x )
“Cowboy Bebop,” “Taxi Driver,” and countless other media utilise beautiful music like jazz or classical to accompany, mostly, a violent scenario happening on the screen.
On the 8th episode, rewatching the dubbed version and reliving Rei’s distress, there is a shootout between Rei and Kaji, an endless running from different platforms. I love, love the chaos that is transpiring here. One can feel the tension that is already building up. The survival of the fittest. The jazz music that plays in the background is so upbeat, almost positive, but urgent. The cymbals clashing in the midst of exploding gunshots blended well. And as soon as the music stops playing, it ends with an annoyed Rei on the floor breathing hard defeated on the first round of his showdown against his mentor Kaji Satoru.
Another example is the new rendition of the series’ main theme. Instead of “Buddy Daddies” you hear “Daddy and Daddy.” It is playing as they open the art nouveau-styled entrance door and bullets come flying through them. It is almost comic, fast-paced while the duo at first thrown back by surprise.
They have been doing this in a number of their fighting scenes but these three and the first gunfight scenes from the first episode stand out as they are a fleshed out examples of the trope.
This particular track bears the same background music that was playing when Kaji and Rei were fighting at the pier before the former fell on his death.
Ogino here was asking K his last words till Rei came in to save his partner brandishing a knife to kill the older assassin. Ogino subdued Rei perhaps due to the latter’s exhaustion and miscalculation therefore losing the momentum only to be picked up by K (the knife and the will to kill Ogino) and then in the end, Rei giving Ogino a headbutt that would catapult him to his death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the release of the first dvd/blu-ray edition the soundtrack’s first volume is also included. So far I am enjoying it. As expected another volume came out.
Music director Katsutoshi Kitagawa of Round Table and his crew have done a good job delighting us with their music soundtrack playing around with the theme song using it a motif.

episode 8 trailer dropped, you know what that means !
guess who's back for another prediction.
ok first off before i put the cut, i just think rei's english is so pleasant to the ears that's all
okay spoiler territory time
(edited a little to add in a little something)
it seems we're finally at that point of PV 2 and 3 where they started planning and preparing a birthday !
but first let me just cry about how cute the conversation between kazuki and rei are before i get into the topic of the scenes playing in the trailer
(don't trust my translation 100% i am only going off of how i understand it with limited knowledge)
Rei: Because Miri came, I started to feel the seasons. Kazuki: That's true∼ Rei: And I thought summer was just hot. Kazuki: You do become more of a hikikomori when the summer comes... Rei: Summer was just limited to coolers, but... Kazuki: But? Rei: There were... also days where I thought the sunlight was nice
also this
Rei: It's the first time that I've ever thought that I liked this weather Kazuki: Barbecuing on tiles sounds good too Rei: I'll have to refuse. Kazuki: Eeh?
i love how rei's a little more talkative and especially about his likes and dislikes when it comes to summer
anyways onto the scenes!
Tumblr media
kazuki and miri are preparing but i'm still not sure if they're preparing for rei's birthday because putting kazurei's conversation aside, it should be related to the episode still like the previous trailer for episode 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
since miri's zoo trip is over and the rainy season was shown in episode 7, and kazurei talked about the summer weather, i can only guess that it really is gonna be a rei birthday thing because no way is it miri's birthday bc hers is in november, and her acquisition was in christmas eve
rei bday might be somewhere between june to september
i will cry if i get this correct
Tumblr media
the suwa manor i assume??
we don't really see rei outside of the house on his own especially in work attire so this is new new
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this implies that despite kyutaro once looking at rei saying he knows the consequences of betraying the organization the most, he is in contact with his boss (father)
did he have an escape attempt once? is this episode going to elaborate on that? this seems more of a rei backstory episode after kazuki's backstory episode
Tumblr media
local malewife malewifing as usual, nothing out of the ordinary except he looks just a bit more natural in his position rather than vaguely distressed
Tumblr media
im willing to bet kazuki's the one who did her hairstyle because i feel like rei would just accidentally tug on her hair every few seconds but i might be proven wrong or they never show us
Tumblr media Tumblr media
favorite child and unfavorite child face off? they have similar facial structures and hair strand placement
the color contrasts is screeching into my face as well
(also i just think rei looks like slender man in that screenshot jesus christ he is terrifying)
Tumblr media
now why is this man here
he cannot be related at all so whats he doing here !! was he hired by rei's boss to take care of him or something !!!! curious. so curious
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really do wonder what sort of conversation they're having in the midst of a gunfight inside a ship
maybe the organization found out about miri and them taking in miri?
Tumblr media
the infamous "Rei-papa looks lonely sometimes" scene which really just wants me to think its a rei bday episode
Tumblr media
NOW WHAT IS THIS !!!! HELLO !!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED LITTLE CRINGEMAN
he's showing too much emotion so i'm convinced that there was a threat made to miri and kazuki by favorite poster suwa child
we never see this man with any kind of scratch or wound from episodes 1 to 7 during gunfights, but we see him a little roughed up in this scene for once which really screams this man might be nearly superhuman but he is not Immune to physical damage (nor is he immune to psychological warfare)
this episode has me hyped because it seems like a tenser vibe compared to kazuki's more melancholy confrontation with his past which he ends up coming to terms with
hopefully rei does get back home safe and sound even if he gets a wound or two, manifesting!!
thats all folks, thanks for coming to my newest installment of yuzu loves overanalyzing 40 seconds of footage

Someone here on Tumblr really just said I was gaslighting fans with my post on the aro, ace, queerplatonic, and platonic life partners reading of Kazurei (the post I made right after Episode 12). Also, gaslighting because I said the series wasn't queerbait.
Buddy Daddies isn't queerbait because the marketing never, not once, was suggestive of a romantic and/or sexual relationship between Kazuki and Rei. GetBackers, Princess Princess, etc. those are clear examples of queerbait.
Also, gaslighting isn't stating your own interpretations and readings of a series and ship (while at the same time never once denouncing anyone for having a romantic and/or sexual reading of a relationship) nor is it stating that a non-queerbait anime is not queerbait due to the definition of queerbait not matching the series or its marketing.
I've since blocked this person and will not be engaging with them any further. We'll likely just run each other in circles. But, just wanted to get this out.
Aspec readings and interpretations and intentional or unintentional queerness in fiction existing in that vague place that a lot queerness tends to exist IRL always ends up ruffling a lot of feathers in fandom spaces.

i just really loved buddy daddies. it had tremendous character development, especially for rei. it had just enough backstory for both him and kazuki for us to understand why they are the way they are but didn’t spend too much unnecessary time on it. it had so much fluff. the last few episodes really hit some feels, reminding you of how the story came about and made you wonder what was actually going to happen in the end. and it had such a sweet ending. even if kazurei wasn’t explicitly canon they spent years together raising miri and making a new life for themselves, opening a diner together and everything. all in all it was satisfying for me. if this is all we get i’d be happy. i just really loved buddy daddies.
(but if we got another season of shenanigans between the show and the epilogue i wouldn’t complain. or new shenanigans that drag them back into the life they thought they left behind [and were made explicitly canon by the end. idk])

So I came across this post by @lera-draws and it is genuinely one of my favorite Buddy Daddies fanarts so I wrote a little fic based on it:
Sleepyheads
Word count: 2211
Fandom: Buddy Daddies/Kazurei
Warnings: None, this is pure fluff
For those who prefer to read on ao3
It was Miri’s idea to get the artificial fireplace. Her daycare had recently gotten one and for some reason she thought it was the coolest thing ever. She began writing letters to Santa asking for a ‘pretend fireplace’ for Christmas as early as October. In her letters she mentioned that she wanted one so that she and her papas could cuddle in front of it “like in the movies” together.
Kazuki and Rei thought it was so sweet that she always asked for things that involved the three of them spending time together. They decided to surprise her with it for her birthday, about a month earlier than ‘Santa’ would have brought it. The two of them could only afford a tiny one, but Miri’s eyes still lit up when she saw it. Even though it was small, it was actually a pretty good investment, as it gave off a decent amount of heat and didn’t use a lot of power.
After dinner Kazuki and Miri were a bit cold, so they changed into pajamas and snuggled up in front of the fireplace together. Once Rei had finished the dishes and changed, he turned off the kitchen and living room lights and went to join them. Kazuki picked up Miri and plopped her in his lap to make room for Rei on the couch. He sat cross legged next to them and listened to their conversation.
They were coming up with menu ideas for the restaurant that they were working on starting. Miri was making suggestions that a typical 6 year old would make (most of which included candy) but she was so excited that instead of turning her ideas down, Kazuki decided it would be fun to bounce equally crazy ideas off her. Rei chimed in every once in a while too. He had the most random ideas of all without even trying, all of which made Kazuki and Miri giggle.
After a while, Miri’s suggestions slowed down. She let out a big yawn as Rei and Kazuki continued to chat about the diner. She slumped forward and fell quickly into a deep sleep.
“I guess someone was tired” Kazuki chuckled. He shifted her so that she was leaning back against his chest. She mumbled something incoherent in her sleep, which made both of them give a little laugh.
“What do you think she’s dreaming about?” Rei asked.
“Who knows?” Kazuki hugged her close and rested his chin on the top of her head. “Hopefully it’s a good dream”
Rei nodded in agreement. He gently brushed her bangs out of her eyes “She needs a haircut” he said matter of factly.
“Yeah. So do you” Kazuki sat back up and ran his fingers through Rei’s undercut, which was growing out. Rei leaned into Kazuki’s touch ever so slightly. Kazuki noticed and smiled at his reaction, taking an extra moment to stroke his hair. He found himself thinking back to several years ago, the first time he had given Rei a haircut.
When they first met, all Rei knew was the grim profession he was born into. When he wasn’t working, he just sat in the middle of his living room and chain-smoked, surrounded by trash. However, Kazuki could see in his eyes from the moment they met that he wasn’t the cold, unfeeling machine he appeared to be, but a broken and lost man who needed help. Maybe it was because he needed a distraction from his own grief, or because he knew all too well what it was like to be so hopeless, but Kazuki wanted to help him in any way he could.
The intention was for Kazuki to just crash at Rei’s for a couple days so that he could deep clean the apartment, but once he was there he sort of just…never left. Making Rei’s place liveable was rewarding, even if Rei did just stand in the corner watching like a creep while he cleaned around him.
The first time Kazuki cut Rei’s hair was the first time Rei showed any sort of vulnerability with him. He had just finished chopping the matted ends of Rei’s hair off and had begun to section the rest when Rei made a noise.
“You okay? We can stop if you want”
“Don’t stop.” Rei mumbled, his shoulders relaxing slightly. Kazuki couldn’t help but chuckle. It was the first time since Yuzuko passed away that his smile wasn’t forced. He took his time sectioning the rest of Rei’s hair.
“Hey! You gotta hold yourself up dude.” Kazuki said with a laugh. Rei was beginning to slump forward in his chair. Kazuki put his hands on Rei’s forehead to try and ease his head back up, but he just continued to let gravity take him. “Come on, wake up sleepyhead” He grabbed the spray bottle and playfully squirted Rei in the face with it. Rei jolted upright and tilted his head back to look at Kazuki. He had an expression that Kazuki had never seen on him before: he was pouting. This man was one of the most deadly assassins to ever exist and was staring daggers at him, but Kazuki couldn’t help but snicker at the fact that he looked like an annoyed wet cat.
“I could kill you, you know.” Rei said quietly. Kazuki knew this, but he also knew that Rei wasn’t going to actually do anything to him.
“I know. But then you’d have to find a new barber.” Kazuki ruffled Rei’s hair. He grumbled but turned around and sat up straighter so that Kazuki could finish. He flinched slightly when Kazuki brought the clippers out, but his body language was still more relaxed than normal.
“What do you think?” Kazuki asked, handing Rei a small mirror.
“Looks like yours.” He grunted. It didn’t look exactly like Kazuki’s but the overall shape was similar.
“Yeah, but check it out.” Kazuki smoothed Rei’s hair back, exposing his undercut. “Now when you put your hair up this part won’t get in your face, it should keep you cooler too.” With Rei’s hair out of his face, Kazuki couldn’t help but notice how handsome he actually was.
“Huh…” Rei stared at himself, as if not recognizing his own reflection. After a moment, he gave a nod, which Kazuki correctly took to mean that he liked it.
The longer Kazuki was around, the more Rei relaxed around him: he willingly began speaking in full sentences, and would sometimes even tease Kazuki. After a while, he even began to try taking care of himself without Kazuki having to force him. Kazuki cut Rei’s hair about once a month. Through this little routine, he quickly figured out that Rei was very touch starved. Luckily, Kazuki was a pretty affectionate person, and was perfectly comfortable showing it.
He had made sure to start slow, not wanting to overwhelm Rei: A hand on Rei’s arm as he dragged him out to Yadorigis, tracing his fingers along Rei’s scalp when he cut his hair, or playfully bumping him with his hips or shoulders when they ran errands together. Of course, if he ever got the inkling that Rei was uncomfortable with Kazuki touching him, he would back off, no questions asked. Rei never did get uncomfortable though, he liked it, he just never knew how to ask for it. In the rare times where Rei tried to show affection he was very awkward about it, as if he was worried he would scare Kazuki and Miri away or do something wrong. Kazuki thought his shyness was incredibly endearing, and would always make sure to show his appreciation
Looking back to those days, it was kind of crazy to think how far they both had come, both individually and in their friendship.
“I’m glad Miri convinced us to get this” Rei’s voice pulled Kazuki out of his reminiscing. He looked down to see that Rei was mesmerized by the little fake flames.
“Yeah…me too” Kazuki just now noticed that Rei was wearing one of his t-shirts.
It must have gotten mixed up in his laundry. Kazuki didn’t mind, it looked good on him.
They continued to watch the fire in comfortable silence, the falling snow outside dampening the noises of the city. After a while, Kazuki felt the warmth and pressure of Rei’s side pressing against his. He looked back down at Rei; a bit surprised that he was initiating contact. Kazuki felt warmth in his heart when he saw Rei’s expression.
It wasn’t unusual for Rei to smile nowadays, but even when Rei was genuinely happy, the expression did still seem to take a conscious effort from him. It was as if he had to remind his muscles to pull his lips upward. Kazuki supposed that made sense, Rei never smiled until the past couple years. He wondered if Rei’s face ever hurt after he smiled or laughed for a long time.
Right now though, Rei’s smile was different. It looked completely effortless, almost like he was doing it unconsciously. He watched the fire through half closed eyes, each blink getting gradually slower.
One of Kazuki’s favorite parts of the past year had been watching Rei come out of his shell and get more comfortable around him and Miri. He was still a quiet person, but talked more now than he ever had. Rei now had the freedom to start actually exploring his hobbies, and whenever Kazuki or Miri asked a question about one of his interests he would start infodumping about it. Kazuki would intentionally ask questions sometimes just to hear the sound of his voice. Rei had also opened up to Kazuki about his past. Kazuki knew he had a bad childhood, but he had no idea just how much Rei had been through.
Despite the fact that Rei had opened up to them so much, there was still a small, constant tension that lingered in him: A part of himself that he was guarding closely even still.
As they sat in front of the fire though, it was like the last remnants of the walls Rei kept around his heart finally disappeared. He was, for perhaps the first time in his life, completely unguarded. It was…beautiful. Kazuki was mesmerized.
Rei either didn’t notice Kazuki staring or didn’t care, slowly, his head came to rest on Kazuki’s shoulder. Kazuki leaned his head against Rei’s, his hair was soft and felt good against Kazuki’s cheek. He continued to look down at Rei out of the corner of his eye.
‘God, I love him so much’.
Kazuki blinked for a moment at the thought. He was a little surprised, not because his feelings for Rei were new, but because he never thought he could let himself feel this way about someone again. He smiled. Without even trying, Rei had broken through the last of Kazuki’s walls too.
He wanted to make Rei feel this safe all the time. He wanted to give Rei the world, make up for all of the love he had missed out on as a kid a hundred fold. He wanted to make Rei smile. He wanted to make Rei laugh. He wanted to hold Rei as he cried and help him heal. He wanted to fall asleep with Rei at night and he wanted to wake up with him every morning. He wanted to kiss Rei all the time, all over, hold him tight and never let go. And he wanted to keep doing that for the rest of their lives.
Kazuki couldn’t stop himself from turning his head to the side and giving Rei a small kiss on the crown of his head. He lingered for a moment, breathing in the sweet vanilla smell of Rei’s shampoo. Rei made a noise, much like the one he had made when Kazuki gave him that first haircut all those years ago, and scooted closer.
‘He loves me too.’ Kazuki thought to himself. He felt giddy at the realization.
Not even a minute later, Rei’s body went limp leaning against Kazuki’s shoulder. He had drifted off to sleep with that smile still on his face. Rei, like Miri, had slumped forward slightly when he fell asleep. Kazuki chuckled to himself, he sometimes forgot that Miri wasn’t biologically related to them because she had so many of the same mannerisms as Kazuki and Rei.
Kazuki carefully maneuvered the arm Rei was leaning against out from under him and wrapped it around his waist to prevent him from falling further forward. He placed a hand on Rei’s hip and guided him back into leaning against him. Still fast asleep, Rei turned slightly, resting his leg on top of Kazuki’s knee and nestling his forehead into the crook of his neck. Miri felt the movement and shifted too so that her legs were on top of Rei’s and she was leaning against Kazuki’s left arm.
Kazuki hugged them both a little tighter. He was sitting in a weird position and was basically holding both of them up, so he doubted he’d be able to actually sleep, but he didn’t care. After a while his leg fell asleep and his back started to hurt, but he still didn’t dare to disturb his two sleepyheads.

It's Been Three Days
Summary: What I'd like to imagine took place in the days following the events of episode 10 - lots of Kazuki sadness, Rei trying his best, hugs and tears, and talking about feelings. Because we haven't really seen much bonding between the two of them in the show! Fic tags: KazuRei, Angst/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Depression, Anxiety, Comfort Wordcount: 5.5k Also on AO3! << It's my first ever post on there :D
-----------------------------
It’s such an odd thing to realize just how quickly you get accustomed to the orchestra of background noises that fill your home on a daily basis. The video game jingle that plays on a loop and gradually speeds up when the player is nearing the end of the race. The soft *ka-tak ka-tak ka-tak* of a kitchen knife chopping vegetables on a wooden cutting board. The rhythmic humming of the washer and dryer, constantly running to keep up with the laundry that seemingly never ends. The half-broken toy that plays that awfully annoying song from that popular children’s television series and doesn’t have an off button. The sweet laughter of a young girl who loves spending the day with her papas...
It’s been three days. Three days since that bittersweet family outing and that final ride on the Ferris wheel. Three days without that familiar orchestra of noises. And man, is that silence deafening.
Rei assumed he’d be able to adjust to the quiet atmosphere pretty easily. “I’m used to this, after all”, he thought, having lived in lonely solitude for years before Kazuki came barreling into his life. But even after Kazuki made himself at home in Rei’s apartment, the two of them hardly spent any actual time together, unless it was related to their work. Kazuki would sometimes attempt to start a conversation as he cooked dinner while Rei played his video games in the living room. But he was lucky if he got more than a few words and the occasional “hm” out of Rei, who would normally have his headset on and couldn’t be bothered to pay much attention to his surroundings. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, though. The two of them got along well enough to consider each other friends, and they each trusted one another completely. In their line of work, trusting your partner was essential. So, they were work partners and roommates. Nothing more, nothing less. Of course, that all changed after Kazuki brought Miri home…
The morning after that ride on the Ferris wheel, Rei woke up before Kazuki. This was odd because Rei could count on one hand the number of times he’s been awake before Kazuki. But that day, he didn’t think too deeply about it. He knew that Kazuki was hurting and figured that leaving him alone to work through his emotions was probably the best thing to do. Besides, Rei had no idea how to comfort Kazuki in this situation and feared that he’d only make things worse if he did or said the wrong thing. So he made himself a bowl of cereal, sat down in front of the tv, and turned on some random program, leaving Kazuki to sleep in a little later.
The show Rei had landed on happened to be one he was familiar with, having watched it with Miri every Saturday morning. “Heh. I should record this for her to watch later.” As he grabbed the remote to set up the recording, the reality of the situation came crashing back toward him like a tidal wave. How could he forget so easily? Miri was gone. Knots began to form in Rei’s stomach and he could feel the onset of a migraine. After deciding to turn off the tv, he tossed the remote onto the couch cushion farthest away from him, pushed his barely eaten bowl of cereal toward the middle of the table, and abruptly plopped his whole body down onto the couch. Lying there, staring at the blank tv screen, he thought to himself, “this… sucks,” before drifting back to sleep. When he awoke several hours later, he noticed that no lights had been turned on, no food was cooking, no laundry was being done… there was nothing but silence. Kazuki hadn’t left his room.
The next morning was pretty much the same. Rei awoke to a quiet house, and the door leading to Kazuki’s bedroom remained closed. “Is he actually in his room, or did he go somewhere without telling me?” Rei wondered. “But if that’s the case, he would’ve left a note like last time… right?” Rei checked the front entry area and saw that Kazuki’s shoes and coat were still there in the exact same spot they’d been left the day before last. “Still home…” Once again, Rei made a bowl of cereal for himself but decided to eat at the dining table this time, hoping to avoid a repeat of the tv incident from the day before. After finishing his meal, he booted up his game console but quickly removed the Morio Kart disc that was inside and replaced it with one of his old shooter games. It suddenly occurred to him that he hadn’t played these types of games since Miri started living with them, fearing that the blood and violence would be too much for her to witness. “But I guess Miri did have actual first-hand experience with not one, but two gun fights. Hell, she probably would’ve thought this game looked fun. Maybe I should’ve played it with her…”
Around lunch time, the silence in the room was broken by the sound of Kazuki’s bedroom door finally being opened. Rei whipped his head around so quickly he could have sworn he felt something in his neck pop. But it wasn’t quick enough, as Kazuki had already shut himself in the bathroom. Rei felt like a creep as he stared at the door handle, waiting for it to turn and for Kazuki to emerge from the bathroom. When he finally did, Rei’s voice cracked as he called out, “H-hey. You hungry? I can order a pizza.” Kazuki paused for a moment, but didn’t look up, his gaze locked downward. “No thanks. I’m good.” Before Rei could say anything back, Kazuki was already back in his bedroom closing the door behind him. Rei spent the rest of the afternoon and evening alone. One would think that having a day alone to yourself in a quiet home would be relaxing, especially when your daily routine was typically consumed by chaos. But that was a far cry from this reality. For Rei, the silence weighed on him like he was being pulled further and further under water. It was suffocating, to say the least. He also began to feel incredibly anxious, because he knew that he wanted to comfort Kazuki in some way, but had no idea how to go about it. “I feel totally worthless…”
It was now day three, and Rei had had enough. “I can’t go back to how things were before… I just can’t.” He decided to try his hand at tackling some of the chores around the house. He thought that it would be really pathetic of him to expect Kazuki to continue taking care of everything for him now that Miri was gone. Sure, he’d always done so in the past, but things were different now. Rei realized that Kazuki was only ever truly happy when he had a family to take care of. But now that there was no longer a “family” here, Rei knew deep down that there was a very good possibility of Kazuki leaving. Would it be next month? Next week? Tomorrow? The uncertainty frightened Rei, but he refused to become the same useless mess he’d once been. Well… he had enough determination in this very moment to at least do a load of freaking laundry. Baby steps were better than no steps, right?
So Rei started off his cleaning crusade by sorting through the pile of clothes on his bedroom floor and picking up any stray articles from the living room on his way to the washer. After tossing everything in and latching the door shut, he stood there for a moment staring at all the buttons and knobs. “Why are there so many??” Kazuki had, on several occasions, shown Rei how to operate the machine, pointing out the various features and wash cycles, and showing him exactly how to measure out the soap. But did Rei remember any of that? Absolutely not. But he figured he couldn’t screw it up too much as long as he stuck with the “regular” cycle and only used a little bit of soap. Once everything was set, he hesitantly reached for the Start button and gently pressed it in. The machine came alive with that familiar sloshing sound that he’d so desperately missed these last few days. He relaxed his shoulders, let out a sigh of relief, and smiled to himself. “Nice.”
Suddenly, the soft clack of a door being opened echoed from down the hall. Rei peeked his head around the corner to see if he could catch a glimpse of Kazuki. But alas, he had just missed him yet again. Rei then heard the shower turning on and thought that he really would be a creep if he were to stare at the bathroom door waiting for Kazuki to come back out, like he did yesterday. So instead, he headed toward the living room to start picking up all of his garbage.
**********
Kazuki felt numb.
It’s been three days, and yet that feeling refused to subside. Kazuki struggled to pinpoint exactly what emotion he was feeling about this whole situation. Was he mad? Maybe a little. But when it came down to it, he knew that both Kyu-chan and Misaki were right. Allowing a five-year-old child live with two hitmen was dangerous, and he couldn’t come up with a valid justification to argue otherwise. At least, not one that wouldn’t make him sound like a selfish asshole. Was he sad? Sure. But again, he knew that Miri was safer this way. So how could he truly be sad about the fact that she was safe? He couldn’t. In fact, if he were being rational about the whole thing, he thought he should actually feel quite relieved. “Yeah right… I’m too greedy for that,” he thought. So he wasn’t mad, or sad, or relieved. He was just… numb.
Kazuki knew that it was pathetic of him to hole up inside his bedroom, but he couldn’t help himself. Coming home that night to the sight of toys strewn across the living room floor, child-sized dishes piled in the sink, the basket of pink flowery clothes that needed to be washed… all of it was just so overwhelming. Kazuki couldn’t bring himself to look at any of it, so he ended up going straight to bed that night. Over the next couple of days, he only came out to use the toilet or to grab a quick snack so that he wouldn’t make himself sick. But otherwise, he stayed in bed staring off into space. He felt sort of bad for ignoring Rei, but he knew that Rei struggled with expressing his empathy. Because of that, Kazuki was afraid that he’d end up snapping at Rei for no real reason or accidentally saying something hurtful that he didn’t really mean, knowing damn well that Rei wouldn’t know how to react and would most likely take it personally. So in order to avoid that tension all together, Kazuki chose to avoid Rei for the time being. “I hope he’s at least eating something other than cereal…”
By day three, Kazuki was starting to get sore from lying in bed for so long. “I should probably shower.” On his way to the bathroom, Kazuki could have sworn he heard the washer running. “But there’s no way… I’m not even sure Rei knows how to use the damn thing, even though I’ve shown him a million times.” Kazuki let out a soft chuckle as he turned the knob in the shower all the way to the right. There was a brief squeaking noise before the water started raining down from the shower head, and steam began to gradually build up in the enclosed space. Kazuki started to undress, removing the wrinkled clothes that he’d been wearing for three days straight. He glanced at the reflection of his naked body in the mirror, flinching at the sight. It was obvious that he hadn’t eaten a proper meal nor had he gotten any decent sleep in these last few days. He had dark circles under his puffy eyes, his hair was a greasy mess, and his face looked pale and ashen like a ghost. He was honestly quite grossed out by the state he was in, and felt sort of relieved that Rei hadn’t seen him earlier. After stepping into the shower and under the hot water, Kazuki felt his muscles immediately relax. He stood there unmoving for god knows how long, just letting the water pour over the top of his head and down his face.
Out of nowhere, Kazuki heard what sounded like a gentle knock, followed by silence. He wasn’t sure if he was hearing things or not, so he waited for a moment to see if another knock would come. Instead, he heard the *click* of the door being opened. “…Kazuki? Are you okay? You’ve been in here for a while…” Rei was so quiet that Kazuki could barely hear him over the running water. He pulled back the shower curtain slightly and poked his head out, ready to teasingly chastise Rei for coming into the bathroom while someone was in the shower. But the sight before him almost sent him into a fit of laughter. Rei had his head peeking around the door into the bathroom, but his eyes were tightly shut, scrunching his face. Kazuki thought it was actually quite adorable. “Yeah. I’ll be out in just a few minutes, alright?” he said, with a slight smile on his face that Rei couldn’t see. “Ah, okay then,” Rei said, as he quickly shut the door. Pffft! Kazuki didn’t realize in that moment, but that numb feeling was finally starting to ease, if ever so slightly.
**********
Kazuki walked out of the bathroom to find Rei vacuuming. Rei. Vacuuming. WHAT?! Kazuki was so stunned he nearly dropped the towel that he was rubbing his hair with. He stood there in awe, taking a look around the entire room. Not only was Rei vacuuming, but it looked like he did the dishes and picked up around house as well. “Ha! Maybe I really did hear the washer running this morning!” Rei hadn’t heard the bathroom door open, so when he finally noticed Kazuki standing next to the couch staring at him, he flinched and scrambled to find the power button on the vacuum. “H-hey! You’re out! You hungry? I’ve made something to eat if you’d like some.” Although he still spoke in his low, nearly monotone voice, Rei appeared to be a bit more flustered than Kazuki had ever remembered seeing him before. “Oh yeah? What’d’ya make?” Kazuki was impressed. Rei cleaned and cooked?? “Um… it’s just porridge. I found an easy recipe online. You haven’t eaten these past few days, so I thought maybe your stomach was upset. I figured porridge would be easiest to eat.” Rei felt a little embarrassed to be offering his measly porridge to a guy who practically lives in the kitchen. And let’s be honest, Kazuki doesn’t exactly hold any punches when it comes to critiquing food, so Rei’s worry was justified. Kazuki could tell Rei was nervous, and again had to hold back his laughter. “Why is he being so cute right now? It’s hilarious, but I can’t tease him too much or else he’d probably curl up in a ball and shut down.” Kazuki pulled out a chair at the dining table, sat down, and looked up at Rei with a grin. “I’d love some. Please and thank you!”
And so the two of them sat at the table, quietly eating the porridge that Rei made. Rei cleared his throat, having already decided that he’d had enough of the eerie silence that had been suffocating him over the past three days. “Hey… do you wanna hang out today? Like, together? We don’t have to go anywhere if you don’t want to. It’s just been really… boring.” Although Rei was definitely trying his best to communicate more with Kazuki, he wasn’t exactly ready to say that he felt lonely and anxious by himself. So he decided to play it off as boredom. Kazuki glanced up at Rei, and to his surprise, Rei was looking right back at him, their eyes locked together. “…Sure. Is there something in particular you wanna do?” Rei hesitated for a moment. Honestly, he wasn’t expecting Kazuki to say yes, and hadn’t really thought this far ahead. “Um… well, we can watch some movies. I guess? Oh but first, we should dry your hair. It’s still wet, and you’ll catch a cold. I’ll dry it for you, if you want.”
“Okay… who the hell is this person and what have they done with Rei?! It’s like the onigiri incident all over again…”
“Ah-haha, it’s okay. It’ll dry on its own. And it’s warm enough in here that I won’t get sick.” Kazuki was truly beside himself. He knew that Rei had started to step up more to take care of Miri. But he couldn’t think of any time before when Rei had offered to take care of him.
“Dude, just let me dry it. I used to do it all the time for Mi- uh… I mean. Well it’s not like you haven’t done the same for me before, so just shut up and let me do it, okay?” Rei scratched his head, annoyed with himself for almost bringing up Miri. He told himself just this morning that he would avoid saying her name in front of Kazuki at all costs, not wanting to upset him. But Kazuki wasn’t upset and could see how frustrated Rei looked. “Okay then. You can dry my hair.”
Rei sat on the couch, his legs far enough apart for Kazuki to sit on the floor between his feet. Kazuki held his knees close to his chest, his chin resting on top of them. The loud whirring of the hair dryer filled the air around them, as Rei ran his fingers through Kazuki’s soft hair. “Fluffy…” Rei absolutely kept that thought to himself, and could feel his cheeks burn with embarrassment.
“I can’t even remember the last time someone’s dried my hair. Maybe when Yuzuko and I first started dating?” Kazuki thought back on the memories of all those years ago and smiled. “But man, this does feel nice. And he’s being so gentle, it almost tickles. And this warmth… I could fall asleep.” A few moments later, the loud whirring ceased and Kazuki jolted in place, having truly almost fallen asleep. “All done,” Rei said in a soft voice. “Aw man, already? That was so relaxing!” Although Kazuki was only teasing, the words were true, nonetheless. “Um… I can brush your hair now, if you’d like? I don’t mind.” Although his words were nonchalant, Rei looked almost excited. And who was Kazuki to say no to that? “Okay.” Rei got up to find a hairbrush and returned in a flash to continue playing with Kazuki’s hair.
After a while, Kazuki was the first to break the silence. “Ya know, I really thought the three of us would be together forever.” He let out a soft chuckle before continuing. “How silly is that?” Rei paused for a moment, surprised by the topic of conversation. He didn’t think Kazuki was ready to talk about this yet. Before Kazuki could notice that his hands had stopped moving, Rei started running the brush through Kazuki’s hair once more.
“Like, I actually thought, ‘Hey! This is my second chance! I can build a life with these two, and we can be a real family. We can be happy.’ Why did I get my hopes up? I should’ve known this would all end eventually. I mean come on. Look at us. Two hitmen raising a child together? That’s some shit straight out of a manga. It could never actually work in the long run.” Kazuki closed his eyes and held his hand over his face, gently rubbing the furrowed skin between his eyebrows.
Rei was thankful that he was sitting behind Kazuki, and that Kazuki was unable to see his face in that moment. Because he could feel the blood rushing to his cheeks and could only imagine what sort of twisted expression his face was in.
“Hey, Kazuki?”
“Hm?”
“Are you… going to leave?”
“Leave? What do ya mean? Where’m I going?” Kazuki realized he sounded slightly exasperated and hoped that Rei didn’t pick up on it.
“I know… I know that you want a family. And now that Miri… now that it’s just the two of us, we aren’t really a family anymore, are we? So are you going to leave now?”
Kazuki could hear the slight hitch in Rei’s voice, and quickly turned around to face him. Rei’s eyebrows were contorted and his cheeks were flushed red. And his bottom lip trembled.
Kazuki panicked. “What?? What are you talking about? Why would I leave?”
“Because it’s not safe for you either! The organization… they’ve already made it very clear.”
“But that was just about Miri, right? It was about our work getting sloppy, yeah? But she’s safe with Misaki now. And we’ll just go back to how things used to be.” As much as it pained him to admit, Kazuki knew that the words coming out of his mouth were true.
“No! It wasn’t just about Miri… it’s more than that.” Rei paused and closed his eyes for a moment, attempting to level his breathing. He then looked directly at Kazuki with glistening eyes and spoke more softly. “Don’t you get it? I’m a Suwa. I’m expected to continue the Suwa family line, and to take over the family business. But I…” Rei closed his eyes again and shook his head. “I don’t want to! I don’t want to…” Rei could feel the hot tears welling up in his eyes and failed to keep them from breaking through.
“Then what do you want?” Kazuki said in a soft, low voice. He could tell that Rei was terrified and could feel the adrenaline coursing through his own veins, causing his hands to shake. The only word he could think of to describe this feeling was protective. It was almost as if he was prepared to single-handedly take down anyone and everyone who had caused the man in front of him to break down in tears. Because anyone who was able to cause this normally emotionless man this much pain… deserved to suffer.
“I just… I just want our family back. But I know that’s not possible right now, and it may never be possible again, no matter how much I miss Miri. And god, I miss her so much… But above all, I want her to be safe. So I know that she needs to stay with Misaki. And I also know that you’d be safer, too, if you left… if you got as far away from me as possible. But Kazuki… I can’t. I can’t lose you, too.” By now, Rei was no longer able to hold back the flood of tears rolling down his cheeks, and his breaths were coming in short, shallow bursts.
In the blink of an eye, Kazuki had gotten up, positioned himself next to Rei on the couch, and pulled him into his arms, holding him close to his chest. Kazuki’s left hand cradled the back of Rei’s head, while his right hand gently stroked the space between his shoulder blades.
“Rei. Listen to me. I’m not leaving you. I will never leave you. You hear me? We ARE a family. Even if it’s just you and me. We can still be a family. Alright? So stop crying. Please, stop crying.” Kazuki tried with all his might to comfort Rei, but could feel that he himself was on the verge of breaking down.
“But… you deserve a real family, Kazuki. You deserve to be with someone you love. You deserve to be a papa. Because you’re such a good papa…” Rei buried his face in the crook of Kazuki’s neck, attempting to stifle the constant sniffling. He desperately grasped at Kazuki’s shirt, pulling it back so much that it was nearly choking Kazuki. But Kazuki didn’t say anything nor did he stop Rei.
“Rei, you deserve those things, too. You also deserve to be with someone you love. You deserve happiness.”
“But I AM with someone…!” Rei let the sentence trail off, surprised by the words that he’d nearly blurted out, and paused to catch his breath. “I was happy with our family. And I’m happy with you. I’d never known that feeling before, until I met you. And having Miri with us… made it so much more obvious. So I know I’m being selfish by asking you to stay with me. But I don’t want to give up any more of my happiness. I don’t want to go back to how things were before. I can’t go back. So Kazuki, please… I’ll try harder, I promise. I’ll clean more and I’ll learn how to cook and I won’t complain as much. And I’ll protect you. I’ll do anything to protect you. So please…” At this point Rei was sobbing so much that he began to ramble and his words were somewhat difficult to understand. But Kazuki continued to hold Rei in a tight embrace, gently stroking his hair to try and calm him down.
“Hey shhhh, I already said I’m staying, didn’t I? So try to calm down, okay? I’m not going anywhere. And hey, you did so good today with the chores! I was so impressed. And your porridge was delicious. Make it for me again sometime, will ya?”
Rei nodded, his face still pressed against Kazuki’s collar bone. “Yeah, okay.”
Kazuki slowly pulled away from Rei, holding both of his hands in his own between the two of them. “Have you calmed down a bit?” Rei nodded without saying anything. The tears finally stopped, but his face looked a mess. Kazuki reached his right hand up to gently rub Rei’s cheek. “Good. Ya know, I must say… you’ve been acting awfully cute today. I’m not used to it,” Kazuki said, letting out a small sigh of relief mixed with a faint laugh.
“Shut up!” Although he had meant to sound forceful with his words, Rei instead sounded like a whiny teenage girl, which made him feel even more embarrassed and caused a fresh wave of blood to rush back up to his cheeks. He then realized that his face probably looked absolutely ridiculous after his meltdown and attempted to wipe his eyes and turn his head away so that he was no longer facing Kazuki.
But Kazuki only found this to be even more endearing, and immediately guided Rei’s face back to where he could see it more clearly. He then positioned his hand so that he cupped Rei’s chin in his palm, with his cheeks squished between Kazuki’s thumb and four fingers. “Heheh fish lips.” He couldn’t help but laugh at the sight and at the fact that Rei was even letting him mess with his face like this in the first place. Truly, he was not used to this side of Rei. But he was enjoying himself.
Kazuki’s laughter eventually trailed off, but he kept Rei’s face cupped in his hand, lightly squeezing his cheeks. Then the expression on his face softened as he continued to stare at Rei’s puckered mouth. After what was probably only thirty seconds, but felt like hours, Kazuki locked eyes with Rei. “Hw-hwat?” Rei stuttered, unable to enunciate due to the squished cheeks. He wondered how long Kazuki was going to hold his face like this and why he just kept staring. If he was being honest, he was starting to feel a bit uneasy. Rei had never really had anyone look at his face for this long or this closely before. He felt almost naked.
“Rei. Have you ever kissed anyone?” Kazuki maintained eye contact after asking the question, so he was able to see the exact moment the pupils in Rei’s deep blue eyes constricted to half their size.
“HUH??! What kind of question is that??” Rei flailed, yanking his face away and batting Kazuki’s hand down. “Seriously, what the hell??”, he thought to himself.
“Aww, come on. I’m just curious! You’re acting so adorable today, and I wondered if anyone else has ever seen you like this.” Kazuki already knew that Rei had probably never been in a real relationship before, so the words he spoke were only a joke. Still, he found himself slightly annoyed at the thought of someone else experiencing this side of Rei, but decided to keep that thought to himself.
“Why should I even tell you?” Rei continued to swat Kazuki away, but Kazuki was relentless.
“Hehe so I’ll take that as a ‘no’.”
“Ugh! Why do you even care??”
Quicker than Rei could stop him, Kazuki grabbed Rei’s face again, this time sandwiched between both of his hands. “Because. I do care. I care about you. And if we’re going to be a family, I want to know everything about you.”
Rei stopped resisting, and just stared back at Kazuki. “He looks so serious now…”
Kazuki’s gaze lowered slightly, and Rei realized just where he was looking. His mouth. Rei then noticed that Kazuki was slowly leaning closer toward him. “He’s not… ACTUALLY going to kiss me, is he?!” Rei didn’t know how to react, so all he could think to do was close his eyes and brace for impact.
Kazuki paused in his tracks and smiled to himself. Rei had his eyes tightly shut, reminding him of earlier that day in the bathroom. “He’s so funny.” Kazuki continued leaning in, closing his eyes and gently kissing Rei on the forehead.
Rei’s eyes shot open in surprise. A forehead kiss was NOT what he was anticipating, and he felt a little ashamed for expecting something different. But that feeling of shame melted away the moment he met Kazuki’s gaze once more and saw the slight shade of pink on the apples of his cheeks as he smiled a goofy grin. Rei couldn’t help but smile back and let out a soft, breathy laugh.
Kazuki carefully pulled his hands away from Rei’s face and stretched out his arms, taking a deep breath and letting out a loud sigh. “Haaaaahhh! So. Should we watch a movie now? Was there one you wanted to watch?” Kazuki leaned back into the couch, but not before pulling Rei to his side and wrapping his arm around him, his hand on Rei’s bicep. In this position, Rei was able to rest his head on Kazuki’s chest just under his arm, but he wasn’t sure where to put his hands. One arm was stuck behind Kazuki against the back cushion, so he didn’t really have a choice there. But the other was left out in front, hovering over Kazuki’s lower stomach. Rei hesitated for a moment, but finally thought, “Screw it,” and set his arm down so that it lay across Kazuki’s waist. After receiving no complaint from Kazuki about where his hand fell, Rei tightened his grip on Kazuki’s side ever so slightly and nestled even further into place. “He’s warm,” he thought. “This is nice…”
“Any movie is fine. Whatever you wanna watch.” Rei honestly didn’t care about the movie. He was just happy to be spending time with Kazuki. Happy to be pulled out of the suffocating silence.
“Hey, Rei?”
“Yes?”
“I’m sorry for avoiding you these last couple of days. It was nothing against you. So I hope you didn’t get too lonely.”
“…I was lonely. But it’s okay. I understood what you were feeling.”
“I might get like that again… I mean, I’m feeling a little better now. But it comes in waves. Ya know?”
“Yeah… I get it.”
“Then will you cuddle with me to make me feel better?” Kazuki said playfully.
“Yes.”
Kazuki only said that to tease Rei, so he wasn’t expecting him to respond so quickly or so matter-of-factly. But he found that Rei’s response made him insanely giddy. Kazuki tightened his hold on Rei, pulling him in even closer. “Good. That makes me happy.”
“…” Rei didn’t know how to respond, but knew that he, too, felt happy in that moment.
It’s been three days. And there was no telling how many more it would take before things finally started to feel normal again. Or maybe things would never feel normal again. Maybe there was a hell storm coming their way that they weren’t at all prepared for. These were all possibilities that they had to consider. But as they sat there embracing each other’s warmth, Kazuki and Rei both knew that they’d be okay, as long as they were together. If one was suffering, the other would be there to help pick up the pieces. If one was happy, the other would be there to celebrate in their joy. After all, isn’t that just what a family is?

i just finished buddy daddies and i have thoughts abt the ending ^^;
it was nice! like, of course i was happy that in the end they got their happy ending and stayed together as a family, but like some people have been saying, it could've been better TwT
for example, i definitely would have wanted to see more of the family's growth to how they've become now! it would've been nice if they had an animated montage of the time passing by in place of the memo board, like the fam moving out of rei's apartment, establishing their diner, and of course, miri's growth from toddler to teenager! OR they could have still kept the memo board AND include an animated montage for every moment they've captured (kinda like rei's confrontation with his dad where he remembers his fond memories)
it would've been nice if kazuki even had a monologue voice over talking about how they've grown too! just to at least provide the audience with more insight
also like some people have been mentioning, i also thought that the offhanded comment about kazuki going out for a drink with the girls ruined the moment :") (for me,) this is the ONLY time in the show where i felt they were trying to exaggerate "oh just a reminder that kazuki is still straight!", i mean, yes we have kazuki's late wife and his moments of going out with the other girls, but for me this was the first time they were outright trying to emphasize the no homo and that made me a bit sad... like, they could have just left it open-ended like they always have been throughout the series! (edit: just saw the thing abt the producers liking the kazurei content, so it this was just for censorship purposes </3 but im glad to hear they're with us <3)
if they were trying to hint that the dads still do underground work on the side, idk they could have at least phrased it differently like miri instead saying "didn't you and rei papa leave early last night [to see kyu-chan]?" but then again that might've been too ambiguous i guess lol
i don't mind the fact that they didn't necessarily show the fact that they've talked it out with miri, the fact that miri has the photo of her mom and casually pointed out kazuki's late night activities says enough that she knows
and lastly i wish that they talked more about the diner! kinda random, i know, but i wish that they just talked more about like how the diner life has come to and stuff, if you get what i mean? just in general, incorporated the topic more in the ending.
i guess in general, i just wanted to see and hear more about the family's growth y'know?

this is for @olyollyoxenfree , for encouraging my horny kazurei brainrot lol ily oly <3
have a 1.9k words of porn with barely any plot. MINORS DNI
-------------------------------
Miri’s arrival in the household had thrown everything off its axis.
It wasn’t enough for her to make it difficult for Kazuki and Rei to carry out their duties as a hitman, or mess with their regular day to day life schedule as two childless men, which was, okay, not as normal as any other two childless men living together because they weren’t assassin with sporadic schedules and irregular sleeping patterns, but with Miri’s presence around the house since Christmas, it had been increasingly difficult for Kazuki to get laid.
Which was fine at first.
Because they were tired most of the time. They chased her around, made sure she was alive and well fed, enrolled her in the best school with the best of everything, providing for her from top to toe with expensive goods and high quality school materials, all the while trying to make ends meet because holy shit having a child was so goddamn expensive. And they were so, so tired. Whenever Kazuki was feeling horny during their down time and having had to choose between sleeping and fucking, nine out of ten times he chose sleep. And Rei shared the same sentiment.
But once all the dust had settled, he started feeling it again. He had an itch that only Rei could scratch. Just watching Rei shirtless on the treadmill with sweat glistening on the beautifully carved back muscles made his dick twitch, reminiscing all the scratches he used to leave on those pale skin.
The problem was, Miri’s presence was constant. She would be at home whenever they were at home, so when they wanted to get down and dirty, she was always in the way. Miri would walk in on them in the kitchen, or barge into their bedroom after having a nightmare, or climb into the bathtub that was already too cramped up with two adults in it. At this point, Kazuki was worried to do more than just make out with Rei, because what if Miri caught them in the middle of the act, with him on his knees and Rei’s dick deep in his ass? That little girl would be scarred for life.
The opportunity, however, presented itself on one lazy Sunday afternoon, after they had a hefty meal for lunch. Miri was playing a video game against Rei and Kazuki was elbow deep in soap suds doing the dishes while humming to random songs that popped up in his brain. It wasn’t until it was too late that he realized the apartment was devoid of sound of carts crashing and random explosions, and his eyes flicked from the greasy plate in his hands to the video game screen paused on the TV, only soft background music playing from it. A beat later, he felt two strong arms wrapped around his waist, and a nose buried itself on the side of his neck, inhaling deep as Kazuki was pulled into a tight embrace from behind.
“Miri’s asleep,” breathed Rei against his skin, and it sent shivers down Kazuki’s spine. “Let’s do something productive.”
“I am being productive,” Kazuki resumed his washing, working through the pots now, keeping his voice steady. “And there’s a child sleeping literally five feet away from us.”
Rei rubbed his face against the side of Kazuki’s face like a docile cat, and somehow managed to get his hands under Kazuki’s shirt, skating his fingers against his ribs and chest. “I saw how you looked at me while I was running two days ago, Kazuki. I know you want me,” said Rei, oddly confident. “We’re hidden behind this big kitchen counter, she can’t see us from the couch. And she’s asleep. There’s that. Come on, I’ll be quiet. You just need to be quiet too.”
Kazuki turned his face slightly to look at Rei’s determined look, his eyebrows knitted in a twist. “Wait, are we doing it here?” he asked in a loud whisper, eyes bulging out almost out of its sockets. “You’re out of your fucking mind, Suwa Rei.”
Rei never truly smiled, not sincerely anyway, but there was a mischievous smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. His hand snaked down south to palm Kazuki over his sweatpants, his dick already half hard from having this conversation. The fact that Rei was plastered to his back and his hands roam free touching him all over was not helping. “You need to be more honest, Kazuki,” replied Rei, slowly moving his hand up and down, gently cupping his erection that was growing by the moment. “Just let me suck you off.”
A moment of silence stretched between them, then a heavy sigh followed. There was no way of talking Rei out of this whenever his mood strikes. “The magic word.”
“What?” Rei’s scowl deepened, confused.
“The magic word, Rei,” repeated Kazuki as he rinsed a small pot. “Say the magic word and I’ll let you do whatever you want.”
Rei let out a groan and rolled his eyes. “Please let me suck your dick. There. Happy?”
“Yup. Happy,” Kazuki grinned, placing a quick peck on Rei’s cheek. “So how are we doing this?”
Rei let his arms around Kazuki go and took a step back. He then pulled Kazuki back from the sink, but still close enough for him to work on the dishes if he hunched forward. With the flexibility of an acrobat, Rei slink down and kneeled between Kazuki’s legs, with his back and head against the cabinet door, and his face right in Kazuki’s crotch. Another shiver coursed through his body when Rei buried his face right in the pubic mound, inhaling it like it was the most intoxicating thing in the world, feeling Rei’s breath warming up his skin. From where Kazuki was standing though, he couldn’t see what Rei was doing, because his view was obscured by the apron.
“I can’t see you,” whined Kazuki, adjusting his stance so it was optimum for Rei to fuck his dick with his mouth.
“Then remove the apron,” retorted Rei, as he pulled Kazuki’s sweatpants and let it pool around his ankles.
“But I’m doing dishes,” but Kazuki’s complaint went unheard because in one quick swoop he felt wetness enveloped his length, much like a sucker punch to the gut that threw him off his game, causing him to buck forward. He dropped the pan he was holding back into the sink, thankfully the clatter was muffled by the clogged up suds water. There was a pause in Rei’s movement, and Kazuki froze in position too, waiting to see if the noise had awoken Miri from her afternoon nap. Moments passed, but no other sound filled the space other than soft background music of Wario Cart and small running tap water in the sink.
Kazuki moved his pelvis to let Rei know it was safe for them to continue. Rei took the hint, taking Kazuki’s now raging hard cock deeper and deeper into his mouth, inch by inch, until he could feel Rei’s nose buried in his pubes. Kazuki finally had the opportunity to appreciate the velvety sensation of Rei’s warm and wet mouth, the push and pull on his erection hitting at the back of Rei's throat in an embarrassingly sloppy rhythm. It had been too long since they last had this. Kazuki had to bite his lower lip hard to clamp a loud moan that was threatening to rip out of him from how good he felt, with molten orgasm coiling at the base of his stomach bidding its time to spill.
He was completely lost in the ecstasy that none of the dishes were done. There were still a couple of pots left in the sink, submerged in the soapy water untouched. Every time he attempted to wash up, Rei was pulling stunts with his genitals; teasing the slit with his tongue, or cradling his scrotums and sucking it like a treat in his mouth, or simply deepthroating himself with Kazuki’s raging cock. He could feel Rei’s satisfactory hums and moans, feeling the vibration from the back of his throat through his dick. It took everything Kazuki had to stand tall and not cave from the overwhelming  sensation, hands tight against the edge of the sink, knuckles white.
A sudden movement from the couch took Kazuki by surprise. He instinctively crowded Rei against the cabinet, drawing his legs shut to cover his presence, even though Miri was on the other side of the kitchen on the couch and couldn’t possibly see where Rei was. There was a punctuated groan that escaped Rei as the movement shoved Kazuki’s hard cock deep inside his mouth.
Miri rubbed her eyes, voice thick with sleep and eyes still half-lidded. She took a stock around the apartment and asked, “Where’s papa Rei?”
“Papa Rei went out to the convenience store to get something,” Kazuki managed, keeping his voice and breathing even. Rei was adjusting himself, probably not wanting to suffocate to death from a dick in his windpipe, head bobbing away and still sucking Kazuki off at a time like this. Unbelievable. “Go back to sleep, Miri, and when you wake up again he’ll definitely come back with your favorite pudding.”
For a moment it looked like Miri wanted to protest, but the gravity pull over her eyelids were much stronger than her will to stay awake. She managed to raise a thumbs up before slumping back down on the couch, and it was quiet again moments later.
Rei took the opportunity to ramp up his movement. With one hand he gripped the base of Kazuki’s cock and moved it in tandem with his mouth, up and down, up and down, up and down in crescendo until Kazuki’s knees buckled and he whites out, coming inside Rei’s mouth with Rei’s name falling out of his lips.
It felt like they just completed an intense mission, what they just accomplished. Kazuki finally threw in the towel and shut the faucet, giving up on dish washing to sit on the floor next to Rei. It was only after that he realized Rei was stroking himself with one hand as he was sucking him off, and he was on the verge of spilling his load. Kazuki took it upon himself to lend a helping hand. With a few strokes and kisses on the corner of Rei’s jaw, thick ropes of cum splattered against Rei’s chest and the kitchen floor.
They sat quietly next to each other, steadying their breath. Kazuki removed the remnant of his cum that was dripping from Rei’s chin using his hand and wiped his fingers against Rei’s already sullied shirt. They exchanged a gaze, staring deep into each other’s eyes before Kazuki laughed and a small smile cracked open on Rei’s face.
“You’re a freak,” said Rei, amused. “You got off getting sucked out in the open apartment with other people in it.”
Kazuki scrunches up his face, mockingly offended. “Says the freak who suggested we fuck in the kitchen with our daughter sleeping five feet away from the counter.”
“That was a close call,” Rei mused. They both leaned back against the counter, letting a comfortable silence settled between them. Kazuki may be imagining it, but it sounded like a small huff of laughter escaped Rei’s throat, and it sounded really sweet. “Looks like we’re gonna need Kyu-chan babysitting service for this particular need after all.”
