ok but the way Crowley replaced his stars with his plants
Crowley who has plants that he can watch grow and develop just like he wanted his stars to do
His plants that he can keep a closer eye on and make sure they are perfect
Plants that remind him of his stars but also of Aziraphale - of their meeting in Eden surrounded by plants - where aziraphale was still as kind to him as a demon as he was to an angel surrounded by stars
The plants being the only thing he keeps from his flat - they were his - his creations

I did my first cosplay since I was 13, 30 years ago! I’m a little nervous to put these out there, but I hope you enjoy them at least a fraction of what I did. Read the alt text for slightly amusing descriptions 😈
(I have an astigmatism and dry eyes, so contact lenses are …complicated for me. BUT we got this (second to last) serendipitous shot where my brown eyes look pretty yellow and the light makes my eyes look a bit like Crowley’s. Couldn’t replicate it and we tried 😅)
And I wish this went without saying, but no fatphobia in the notes and please don’t repost without permission.

People have talked about this before but there’s something so powerful about the plant scene in season 1.
Crowley’s flat is his domain, his Eden, and he is its ‘god’, I mean the guy (not guy) bought himself a fucking throne for goodness sake. And I think it’s pretty commonly accepted that the way he treats his plants is how he feels the Almighty treated him.
Yes he shouts at them, threatens them, holds them to unattainable standards but I feel like he also gives them some kind of mercy. I mean Crowley’s issue with the Almighty comes from his sense of betrayal and distrust of them (me too mate tbh), he disagrees with them and hates the fact that they never let anyone even imply there could be a better way. And these are all true, he’s not perpetuating some rumour. But his anger also comes from the fact that they pretend (or atleast to him pretend) to love their creation. The creation that they always planned to destroy. They probably pretended to love him at some point too but that didn’t stop him from loosing everything he’d ever known or loved. We even see this in the cold open for the Job minisode in his monologue to the goat. He’s not only angry at the Almighty because of they outcast him for asking, he’s mad because he let himself think he meant something more to them. And maybe he did, but that’s not the point.
But Crowley gives his plants mercy, at least in his own sense he does. From what we know, he’s never let them think that he loved them, even though he does. The plants are one of the most important things to him and he treats them harshly because he wants to play God but also maybe because he doesn’t want to let them down like he was. Because maybe if there’s no love in the picture then failure and being outcast is much easier. Being discarded is much easier when you never thought you mattered to the being who abandoned you. The impact of the fall is much less when you don’t think the person pushing you off ever cared for you and never let you care for them. Right?

Rewatching the 1960s The Addams Family series and in one episode I thought I saw a type of plant that Crowley had.
While of course this must be coincidental, imagine if Crowley (who heard about talking to plants in the 70s) knew about and remembered the American show about the weird family that seemed creepy and dark but were actually very loving and supportive of each other, and decided to get one of those plants?
Crowley, definitely thinking about The Addams Family (1964): Big spooky fan, me.

Those plants living in the car with Crowley… Which ones do you think he took with him when forced to leave his apartment? (Being casted out from a “garden” yet again… he’s having a lot)
Those with “good performance”? Or those he claimed to be disappointed with and thrown out? (Personally, my prefer answer is the latter)

Okay so I’ve been thinking,
If Crowley no longer lives in his flat, and instead lives in the Bentley with the plants in the back. How does he properly intimidate them to grow better?
Right now I’m thinking he’s doing the equivalent of when your mom looks at you in the rear view mirror and says “Don’t make me come back there”

*leaves package in front of door, knocks on door and then runs off quickly*
The note reads: I hope you like it!!! No take-backs! Muahaha 🦝
The package contains: A large ceramic flower pot with two inscriptions: An understated one around the side that you don't see at first glance: 'In nature nothing exists alone. – Rachel Carson' And on the bottom of the pot: 'To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. – Audrey Hepburn'
Huh…
*He turns the pot over in his hands, rummaging through the box for any sign of who might have sent it. He looks around at his plants, then places the pot on a high table. He likes it.*
Looks like you’ll all be getting a new friend sometime soon.
